[APP][4.0.3+] WiFi Fix (Repair broken WiFi) - Android Apps and Games

Fix your broken WiFi!
After having lots of trouble myself with broken WiFi on my device (especially on custom ROMs), I have identified some of the issues and made an app to automate the process of fixing the problems automatically.
Currently the app supports two fixing methods:
Method 1 (Clearing DHCP Lease)
Sometimes, the DHCP lease of Android gets corrupted. In this case, you are not able to connect to any WiFi network - it keeps displaying "Obtaining IP address...". If that is the case, the functionality of WiFi can easily be restored by deleting two files contained in /data/misc/dhcp - dhcpcd-wlan0.lease and dhcpcd-wlan0.pid. They will automatically get recreated once WiFi is enabled again.
Method 2 (Deleting wpa_supplicant)
The file wpa_supplicant.conf (located in /data/misc/wifi) stores all the WiFi passwords of Android. However, for some reason this file gets corrupted easily. Deleting it will force Android to recreate it and WiFi will work again. WARNING: This method will delete your WiFi passwords. Refer to below for instructions on how to backup them.
How to read the WiFi passwords:
Install a file manager with root access (e.g. Root Browser)
Go to /data/misc/wifi and open the file wpa_supplicant.conf
Write down the passwords on a piece of paper (Do NOT backup the file!!!)
PLEASE NOTE: You need ROOT ACCESS for this app to work.
If you don't trust me, you can always check the source on GitHub and build the app yourself. Just in case ^^

So far so good

Hi,
Running Resurrection Remix 5.6.9 with built in root (not SuperSU) and it doesn't ask for root permissions, just fails with the Fail error message.
Every other root program pops up a box requesting access.
Any ideas?

Well, it depends on the issue. If the appearing issues have been fixed in such a way that they can't appear on CM13/14, then it surely won't, but other than that there should be no problem

[APP][5.0.2][IR]LG QuickRemote for AOSP [1-13-15]

This zip installs the QuickRemote app and enables the IR blaster to work on AOSP Lollipop ROMs for the LG G3 (and G2). Not every device or rom has been tested, so flash at your own risk.
Credits go to @sefnap for the original G2 port, @RieGo for the original scripts, and @zzeneg for updating to the G3 versions.
WORKAROUND DETAILS:
The default SELinux policy for android was changed to enforcing mode in Lollipop to increase security. This restricts the functionality of some apps, so for QuickRemote to work we have to change the SELinux policy back to permissive mode until we have a better solution.
This zip installs an init.d script which runs at boot and sets the SELinux policy, as well as other permissions. It will also create the file /sdcard/QRemote.log, which records the SELinux policy at startup.
INSTRUCTIONS:
--Make a backup (or at least download the uninstall)
--Install the latest SuperSU (highly recommended)
--Wipe dalvik/cache (just in case)
--Flash zip in recovery (TWRP or PhilZ)
--Reboot--
--It may take a moment for device manufacturers to load, so be patient.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
First, make sure init.d is enabled:
-Check for /sdcard/QRemote.log. If the file isn't there, the init.d script did not run.
---Enable init.d support with this app
-If it still isn't working after enabling init.d and rebooting, verify that SELinux was set to permissive at boot in QRemote.log
---Try this app to set the SELinux policy instead. If the QuickRemote app force closes when you open it:
-Make sure QuicksetSDK is installed. It won't be in the app drawer, so check Setting->Apps->All
-Clear QuicksetSDK data, delete /sdcard/Quickset Setup, reboot
Thanks to everyone in this thread for helping figure this thing out!
Working perfect on liquid smooth rom, thanks for posting this!
Thanks so much for posting this. Not being able to use Smart IR on AOSP has been killing me. I absolutely hate my LG TV remote. Will be testing on Beanstalk this evening.

KitKat Art, and Lollipop Art, are two different creatures. I'd think that a port of the Lollipop version of this remote from the g3 leaks should work.

Well, if it wouldn't, it wouldn't be a port, am I right?
I tried flashing it on Lollipop and using a different remote App and that didn't work either, even though the App recognized that the G3 has an IR-Blaster.
Guys, if you use a custom rom like CM12, you can make the flashable zip to work by doing the following.
First flash it normally, then grab from XDA the LGs lollipop version of QuicksetSDK, I think there should be a lollipop version, but I copied it from Android HD rom. Then replace the KitKat version with lollipop in in the System/app folder, set the correct permissions and voila it works. I have tested it on my Sony TV, it works like a charm. Good thing is that Smart Remote IR also works if interested to try.

I hope you don't mind me uploading this here @zzeneg, all credits are going to you! If you want me to, I'll take it offline immediately.
I think it should work on any 5.0 AOSP-Rom.
For some reason my IR-Blaster isn't working, the app launches, but the IR-Blaster just doesn't work.

[Q] [lollipop][root] superuser fork? or any other opensource alternative?

Hi,
Koush's superuser (https://github.com/koush/Superuser) is abandonned.
Last update was february 2014 - date of the files provided in the last archive posted here http://koush.com/post/superuser.
Unfortunately It is not compatible with lollipop: https://github.com/koush/Superuser/issues/268
I don't want to use the closed-source superSU.
So my question is: do you know any alternative?
Thanks

I know that SlimRoms team forked Superuser: https://github.com/SlimRoms/Superuser but it looks like you have to use their roms because it is totally integrated into it. It is a bit the same with CyanogenMod: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/Superuser

not opensource, not free software (libre)
I think there is a need to have an opensource alternative to superSU.
I asked a question to the developpers (slimroms) of a superuser fork: https://github.com/SlimRoms/Superuser/issues/4
I'd be most interested in an opensource superuser app as well. I'll try to follow in the link you provided. Thanks.

Some activity: https://github.com/SlimRoms/Superuser/issues/4#issuecomment-125494463
I tried to build it but no success so far. It just need some tweaks here and there, like this another attempt to maintain koush' Superuser to Lollipop. I wish I knew more about Android development, but I can contribute to testing and other stuff.
BTW, I've been using "superuser-27042015_2-52c8320.zip" since I discovered it and I haven't found any significant problem, as long as you set SELinux as permissive. The only application that refused to work with that superuser was PowerNap but now that I don't use GAPPs I don't need to use it.
Just to show it's working, a few screenshots. We really need an alternative superuser, who respect the freedom of its users. Security by obscurity is not an option when we are dealing with root-related tasks.
I guess we'll be able to have superuser work with selinux in enforcing mode
thanks to phhusson's work: https://github.com/phhusson/Superuser
I saw those changes and I tried to build it with no success. The problem lays with Widgets, it also needs to be updated to support the latest SDK.
Is there a thrustfully ZIP file out there for phhussons Superuser? I'v not enought knowlege to built it by my own.
Not yet, tried to build it myself and I got an error when I try to use the su binary in my phone.
I hope we will get an open source Superuser app that is not abandoned. That will be great step for our freedom, security and privacy.

Chromium Browser [Updated weekly]

Hello, here's the open source Chromium web browser. Can't find it in the play store due to it having nightly updates/builds. I will try my best to give a weekly updated build. Thanks and enjoy. Don't forget to hit the thanks[emoji106] button.
BIG THANKS TO @andDevW FOR THE APP THAT COMPILES IT FROM THE SOURCE AND TURNS IT INTO AN APK.
Chromium.apk 5/5/18 Download Link
Thanks for the shout-out.
Here's the direct link to my latest release APK: https://anddevw.com/assets/apk/getchromium/app-release.apk
The app is entirely open source so you can verify everything that it does and if you have any questions or issues, you can get help here.
Building Chromium from source requires more memory (8GB) than any current production Android device has, so I went with downloading the official Chromium Team release from Google's repository and unpacking and installing it. You can do the exact same process manually (if you have a good file manager like Amaze) by downloading the official latest build of Chromium for Android here https://download-chromium.appspot.com/dl/Android?type=snapshots, unzipping it and installing ChromePublic.apk.
I designed getChromium with developers and Debian users in mind, so updating is a deliberate user-initiated process, generally followed by revisiting chrome://flags and enabling new experimental features that weren't available in the previous build. There's no point in automating that, and anyone unfamiliar with this type of manual updating and enabling flags would probably be better served by *Google's Chrome Canary.
*For the record, Google released Chrome Canary for Android 6 months after I released getChromium.
can you please take a look at this Brave Browser issue especially the commit that fixes it , https://github.com/brave/browser-android-tabs/issues/167
it's literally identical to the one that affects Bromite where it request permissions on every boot up.
For those of you who have MyAndroidTools app on your phone, 1)open it 2)click on Services 3) click Third Party 4) Click Bromite 5) Disable ChromeBrowserSyncAdaptiveService and ChromeGcmListenerService 6)open your terminal emulator and type Reboot so as to skip the shutdown animation.
Enjoy without the nag for account permission ??

[APP] - [TOOLS] - [4.3+] WiFi Password Viewer (V1.3) => Root, no ads and for free!

►►WiFi Password Viewer (Root, free and no ads)◄◄
►Introduction◄
First I was looking for a wifi password tool that I can check my WiFi passwords even before I did a full wipe.
Then I was pissed of from all the ads and apps that don't support Oreo (I like Oreo, because 100g Nougat is more expensive than 100g Oreo ).
Last but not least I decided to write a complete free ($$$ / ads) wifi password viewer and share it with you.
►How it works◄
File location Oreo: /data/misc/wifi/WifiConfigStore.xml
File location < Oreo: /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
WiFi Passwords Viewer is looking for the WiFi Config file in your system.
This file will be copied and read to / from your internal memory.
When your device has read that file it will be deleted immediately and the wifi information are displayed in the apps listview.
There is no internet permission needed for your security (you can share the wifi informations by mail, whatsapp or whatever with the share button)
