[APP][5.0.2][IR]LG QuickRemote for AOSP [1-13-15] - G3 Themes and Apps

This zip installs the QuickRemote app and enables the IR blaster to work on AOSP Lollipop ROMs for the LG G3 (and G2). Not every device or rom has been tested, so flash at your own risk.
Credits go to @sefnap for the original G2 port, @RieGo for the original scripts, and @zzeneg for updating to the G3 versions.
WORKAROUND DETAILS:
The default SELinux policy for android was changed to enforcing mode in Lollipop to increase security. This restricts the functionality of some apps, so for QuickRemote to work we have to change the SELinux policy back to permissive mode until we have a better solution.
This zip installs an init.d script which runs at boot and sets the SELinux policy, as well as other permissions. It will also create the file /sdcard/QRemote.log, which records the SELinux policy at startup.
INSTRUCTIONS:
--Make a backup (or at least download the uninstall)
--Install the latest SuperSU (highly recommended)
--Wipe dalvik/cache (just in case)
--Flash zip in recovery (TWRP or PhilZ)
--Reboot--
--It may take a moment for device manufacturers to load, so be patient.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
First, make sure init.d is enabled:
-Check for /sdcard/QRemote.log. If the file isn't there, the init.d script did not run.
---Enable init.d support with this app
-If it still isn't working after enabling init.d and rebooting, verify that SELinux was set to permissive at boot in QRemote.log
---Try this app to set the SELinux policy instead. If the QuickRemote app force closes when you open it:
-Make sure QuicksetSDK is installed. It won't be in the app drawer, so check Setting->Apps->All
-Clear QuicksetSDK data, delete /sdcard/Quickset Setup, reboot
Thanks to everyone in this thread for helping figure this thing out!

Working perfect on liquid smooth rom, thanks for posting this!

Thanks so much for posting this. Not being able to use Smart IR on AOSP has been killing me. I absolutely hate my LG TV remote. Will be testing on Beanstalk this evening.

confirm working for d855 on cm11... thanks

Any chance of a working QuickCircle port for AOSP?
It's the only thing that's holding me back from installing CM11. I refuse to give up on this case since I paid so much money for it god damn it

Thanks, it's work !

I tried it on 5.0 and resulted in force closes and a broken app. Go ahead and download both files, if they work yippee, if not just flash the uninstall.

And let us know!

KitKat Art, and Lollipop Art, are two different creatures. I'd think that a port of the Lollipop version of this remote from the g3 leaks should work.

Well, if it wouldn't, it wouldn't be a port, am I right?
I tried flashing it on Lollipop and using a different remote App and that didn't work either, even though the App recognized that the G3 has an IR-Blaster.

Guys, if you use a custom rom like CM12, you can make the flashable zip to work by doing the following.
First flash it normally, then grab from XDA the LGs lollipop version of QuicksetSDK, I think there should be a lollipop version, but I copied it from Android HD rom. Then replace the KitKat version with lollipop in in the System/app folder, set the correct permissions and voila it works. I have tested it on my Sony TV, it works like a charm. Good thing is that Smart Remote IR also works if interested to try.

Here's the Quickremote zip with the updated QuicksetSDK (For CM12!):

I hope you don't mind me uploading this here @zzeneg, all credits are going to you! If you want me to, I'll take it offline immediately.
I think it should work on any 5.0 AOSP-Rom.
For some reason my IR-Blaster isn't working, the app launches, but the IR-Blaster just doesn't work.

[Xposed][HACK] Workaround for Netflix on CM10.1 - All Exynos4 devices

This is an Xposed module (See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 for more on Xposed) that allows Netflix to work on CM10.1 on Exynos4 devices.
Source code is at https://github.com/Entropy512/XposedNetflixWorkaround - Use the Android Developer Tools Eclipse package to build it
To install:
Install the Xposed Installer APK from the thread linked above
Install the Xposed framework using Xposed Installer
Install the APK linked in this post
Reboot your device after enabling the module in Xposed Installer
Enjoy Netflix
How does this work?
For whatever reason, Netflix uses its own player, called JPlayer, if it detects that it is running on Android 4.2. For whatever reason, JPlayer does NOT like the current video subsystem in CM10.1 on Exynos4 devices.
What this module does is make Netflix always think that it is running on ICS, which will make it use what appears to be the system OMX player. (I'm not entirely sure of this, but I am sure that it is NOT JPlayer and it DOES work on all of my devices I've tested).
This is an interim workaround/hack until the root cause of JPlayer failing on Exynos4 devices can be determined. (Edit: From talking with a few people, JPlayer is replacing a number of components of Android's playback framework. This includes components that have been altered for Exynos4 compatibility.)
DO NOT REPORT THIS ISSUE IN CYANOGENMOD JIRA. No affected devices are receiving M or stable builds and this is one of the many reasons.

Andrew, version 1.8.1 of Netflix works on Exynos4 + Jelly Bean. I'm not sure if it's the last known working version but it's an alternative; I took a stab and downloaded the version I thought might be at/around the last Netflix update for ICS.
Edit: arcee indicated that 2.1.1 will work in tomorrow's build, not sure if specific to Odroid only.

He took a different approach to killing JPlayer:

There's no clean way to do this. Either there is app-specific **** in the device tree that is difficult for users to remove if it ever gets derpy, or users have to actively search for a workaround such as this one.

Latest working version is 2.0.1, the APK is linked below. It is the last version before they have introduced the newest controls. Works just fine on S2 with CM 10.1.

This is the easiest solution for the problem right now. Don't update from Market, but that is I guess quite obvious.

The Xposed solution allows you to update and install from the Market with no issues.
Arcee's "patch the configuration XML file" approach also works.

Dependent on the device maintainer I'm sure. My Odroid U2 has a fix merged in last night's nightly. YMMV.

I'm considering using arcee's approach... I really dislike having app-specific **** in the device tree though...
I can't figure out why people are having issues installing Xposed - it has installed flawlessly on every CM10.1 device I've tried. The fact that it may fail on certain manufacturer-customized firmwares isn't relevant here as this hack is specific to CM10.1
The only thing I can think of might be that Superuser prompts aren't quite working right on some people's devices.
As to eventually including Xposed in CM itself - It is something I would love to see, however as a device maintainer, it's "above my pay grade". Including it directly in CM would require careful consideration and analysis by the project leads.
I'm working on a flashable zip that drops a script in init.d to get the job done. The script is based on https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...mmit/916bbf03847ef5e3b5264bbbeac6c30399281520 although I had to tweak it a little to get it to work. I can share it once it is finished, if anyone is interested. It will also copy a script to addon.d so that as I update cm10.1, the hack will be persistent.

[APP][CM11] Port QuickRemote from G3

Hey guys!
I've recently made a port of LG QuickRemote from LG G3. After a week of testing on our local forum I decided to publish it here.
info:
- all features are working
- ART is supported
- looking pretty good on non-standard dpi
supported ROMs:
- CM11
- Slimkat
- Mahdi
- maybe any other custom rom. OmniROM is not supported (you can only add your own remotes on this rom)
installation:
- flash the zip with the recovery
Many thanks to @RieGo, I'm using his flashable zip's (I just replaced apk's with my own).

Ok, thank you, I'll check it.
Not worked for me too but i changed "setprop ro.build.target_country UK" then it worked fine.
Cool, I might give this a try, QR is the only thing holding me back from using ART, although honestly QR on the G2 is pretty limited.. Narrow beam, and the main remote I'd use (DirecTV) is quite limited.
This way I'll have both I'll let you know how it goes on AOKP.
BTW, if anyone does have to edit the props to make this work, I'd suggest adding it to /data/local.prop not /system/build.prop
Works for TV but doesn't work for set top box (motorola) cm11
ART is supported
OH SH*T, i'm downloading it right now! That was the only thing which I missed on AOSP ROMs, thanks!
For an easy upgrade from the G2 remote, I deleted the LGquickremote.apk from system/apps and installed the zip via recovery. All my device setups from the G2 version carried over. No issues with art either. On latest Mahdi.

Hmm, my configurations didn't carry over, but then again, I just flashed the new zip and it cleaned up. Anyway, no biggie I guess. I only had one custom remote and it was only a few buttons for my AV center.
DirecTV works, but I swear there are less buttons.. Like I can NOT find the List or Guide button anywhere!? Nothing to do with this port obviously, but just odd.

[GUIDE] How to make Viper4Android work on 5.0.x Lollipop

How to get Viper4Android working on Lollipop ROMs
I want to start the thread off by stating that I DID NOT develop this mod myself. Full credit for the work goes to @FuMMoD for the updates for V4A’s .apk and libraries. Also to @//.dax for the new icon. @AndrasLOHF for the thread that lists the original .zip files we’ll be flashing, also the Viper4Android team for making this app in the first place. This thread is simply a detailed, in-depth guide with a video to help people install what they created. Links to the original threads are below. Please visit it for more information and help. This wouldn’t have been possible without these people.
I’ve personally tested this method on many ROMs based off of CM12 on my Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9500 and it’s worked every time. If it doesn’t work for your ROM, post details and I’ll look into it. Most people have tried this method on their Nexus 5 and reported success.
Stock users!! If you use a ROM based on TouchWiz or other ROMs with a stock kernel that is set to "Enforcing", there is a chance step #3 will fail! Please read Q6 in the F.A.Q. below for help on this! This is NOT a V4A problem! And it CAN be fixed usually! Read carefully!
Please do not post that this isn't working for you unless you are 100% sure you did the steps exactly like I mentioned. Read the F.A.Q. first to make sure. Visit the thread links below for more help. It should theoretically work on all Lollipop ROMs.
Please follow this carefully step by step or this may not work for you. If you ARE sure you did these steps correctly and it still didn't work (I don't see why it wouldn't), post your device information and ROM details and I'll look into it.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it!
YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.]
Let's get started.
Things you'll need:
1. A lollipop ROM. (duh)
2. Root access.
3. Custom recovery. (Any recovery should work as long as it can flash .zip files)
I would recommend reading the F.A.Q. before you do this!
Here's a video tutorial I made to make things easier to understand:
Here are the steps:
Head into your settings, and go to about device. Look for the SELinux status. If it says either “Permissive” or “disabled”, move on to step 4. If it says “Enforcing”, go to step 2.
Download and install “SELinux Mode Changer” from the Play Store (link in post two)
Open the app you just installed, and tap on “Permissive”. Grant root access when and if prompted, then reboot the device. <--If this does not work, read question 6 of the F.A.Q. below.
Go to post two, and download “Viper4Lollipop.zip” from any of the mirrors listed. (Request for more mirrors).
Go into app drawer, and disable “Audio FX”, or “DSP Manager” or “Music FX” depending on your ROM.
Disable stock music player. <--Read question 1 of the F.A.Q. below to see why you have to do this.
Go to developer options, and uncheck “Use NuPlayer”.
Reboot device into recovery.
Flash the “Viper4Lollipop.zip” you downloaded. Wipe dalvik/cache. Reboot.
Open the V4A app from the app drawer, and install drivers when prompted after granting root access. Reboot once it’s done.
Go to play store and download any third party music app. (Shuttle Player or Google Play Music are good options.)
Enjoy the sweet sound of V4A on your Lollipop ROM.
F.A.Q.
Q1: Why do I need to disable the stock music app?
A: V4A causes force closes when using the stock music app. You CAN try another .zip (see post two and question 2 of F.A.Q.) which fixes this issue, but the disadvantage of that is that you might lose Chromecast functionality. Moreover, I never tried this personally so I can’t help you if you flash the other one and it doesn’t work. For anyone who wants to try a more complex approach and keep stock music player compatibility, see post #20 by @mholloway.
Q2: What is the difference between the recommended .zip and alternate .zip?
A: The recommended one will break stock music app, but it’ll work fine otherwise. The alternate one MIGHT fix the stock music app, but you might lose Chromecast functionality. Refer to the original thread for more details on this.
Q3: Will this cause any bricks or bootloops?
A: Absolutely no. It shouldn't. Never bricked mine.
Q4: How do I remove this?
A: Uninstall V4A drivers, then delete the app from the root directory.
Q5: Why does the volume go down on some screens?
A: This isn’t a problem with V4A. This is because of Google Now conflict or any other app that uses the microphone. It happens on some ROMs and they are the problems. Example: Volume went down for me on GearCM but not on Euphoria OS. Fix? Disable "OK Google" hot-word detection or disable/stop apps that use the microphone.
Q6: The kernel won't change to permissive.
You're not alone. Some people reported this doesn't work on some stock ROMs. This is because of the stock kernel on some stock ROMs (mostly Samsung) that cannot be changed to permissive. At this point, your best bet is to try a different kernel for your phone and ROM. A simple Google search will help you with that. Thanks to @banccalif in post #15 for the suggestion.
Watch the video if the steps seem complicated to you. If you're gonna tell other people about this, please link back to this thread.
Enjoy V4A for Lollipop and be sure to check out the thread in post two and thank the devs. They’re the geniuses who did this. :good:

Even with that app? I don't think you can disable it if it's set to enforcing, only to permissive.. But I don't know why you're not able to set it to permissive from enforcing though.. :/ Try asking in the ROM forum? Mine was disabled from the beginning so I had no troubles with this. But everyone who has had it to enforcing WAS able to change it with that app. :/

It's about the kernel.. If it's a stock kernel, it will not change to permissive. I'm on a stock based tw rom with a custom kernel and I'm fully functional on v4a

Hey man, I'd like to ask ya, I've installed 2.3.4.0 , on stock player the processing is working BUT when I'm using TTpod then writes NO, on 2.3.3.0 was working.so if i flash the V4A patch compatibility zip might work?

I dunno what patch compatibility zip you are talking about. The zip in this thread contains the full app along with modified and additional binaries. FYI, the app included is 2.3.3.0 and not 2.3.4.0. I haven't gotten around to update it yet, but if it helps, I just installed TTPod on my Galaxy S4 i9500 running CM12 to test it and it's working perfectly like you said.

@banccalif can you send me a link to the custom kernel that you are using? I never dealt with kernels before. Is it the regular flashing process with custom recovery?

Also are you using tw based lollipop rom for i9500?

I'm on a sprint s5 running MOAR 6.0 Lollipop so I don't know if there are or where the kernel may be for you. Kernels are the same as flashing a rom, wipe both caches before and after flashing

No problem at all ?
I am on MOAR Ao6 lollipop. I have the stock music player.which viper won't work with,so I extracted the AOSP music player from the MOAR ROM and changed the apk name from SamsungMusic_20 to SamsungMusic1_20 and created a folder named the same in system/app.set permissions and now I have the stock player. And the AOSP player (Apollo) and viper4android works with Apollo.

Please change your SELinux to 'permissive' and try again. You can use the app SELinux Mode Changer for that.

There's no ACs and projectors in this version.
Both versions are confirmed working on BlissPop 3.3... But I'm from India and I use Asianet set up box in my home... But its not available in both versions.. Its there in LG Stock ROMS.. I tried with other remotes,, but can't make it to work.. Can you please add the Asianet remote to the set up boxes list? Or any idea on how to?

Really? I couldn't get it to work. I'm using Peel Remote from play store it works great.
You HAVE to set SELinux to permissive. It works just fine on CM13... And if you haven't flashed zip before, it can't work.

OmniSwitch flashable zip for 5.1.x ROMs

As the title says, this is a flashable OmniSwitch recents management zip for 5.1.x ROMs. All credit goes to @maxwen for creating OmniSwitch and @czboyshubham for creating this zip originally for 5.0. I simply updated it for 5.1.x so it functions properly on updated ROMs. I did this for Pure Nexus, but it should work on anything as far as I know - let me know if you run into issues and I will update this post accordingly. czboyshubham's original thread for those who wish to say thanks:

For those of you who need or want to assign a shortcut to open OmniSwitch instead of dragging the handle (or do both like I do), here's a link to the apk "Toggle OmniSwitch" by @kikuto that will allow you to assign it as an app shortcut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54078587&postcount=19

Thanks for the update!
This is what I am loooking for.
Thank you.
Love it.
@wrongway213 would you be kind enough to update this zip to have the newest omniswitch? There are a few amazing new features like having the program in vertical mode that I would love to have.

Sure thing. I'll get it done sometime today and update the OP with a new flashable zip. Thanks for the heads up they added new features - been busy lately and have not been tracking Omni's git.
Can this be flashed on 4.4.2 miui Rom. I like omniswitch

Yeah the vertical feature is awesome. It makes it similar layout to slim recents (but much better IMO)

I've been messing with this for like 2 hours and no matter how I package the zip it will absolutely not open OmniSwitch outside of "restricted mode" no matter what I do. This is apparently going to be more difficult than I thought, but I'm still working on getting the permissions working so we can upgrade.. will update the thread as soon as I get it working. The new layout is nice, but I don't think we want restricted mode.. need to get to the bottom of this.

Same issue I was having. I read somewhere that you can use XxX to fix that issue, but I couldn't figure that out either.

Awesome, glad it's running great for you too. What device/ROM you have it running on? Curious if it is working across the board, works great on Pure Nexus for N6 but haven't tested anything else myself. Anyone who uses this, feel free to leave device/ROM info if it works or doesn't - I hope this is compatible with anything, it should be the way perms are set but I am not really sure so confirmation would be cool.

Also on Pure Nexus on N6. Really no reason it shouldn't universally work though.
Thanks wrongway213, running perfectly - with the toggle apk - on my Xiami Xi3 with 5.1.1 with the EOS AOSP ROM. :good:
Thanks for this. Working on my Oneplus One. The kill app button doesn't seem to work though. I'm not able to swipe apps away either.

What ROM/kernel are you running? Does it give you a "restricted mode" notification when you first boot? I was having these issues for the first 20 or so times I tried to package this, but the release I finally put out works outside of restricted mode on my Nexus 6. My kernel is set to permissive as well, if that matters any - definitely curious to see what causes the incompatibility.

I'm using AK kernel with Cyanogen OS 12.1. Yes, I did get the restricted mode notification. I'll try reflashing it after going back to the stock kernel soon.
Thanks.

I doubt AK kernel is the issue. I'm curious if it's a device issue, or more likely that this does not work on stock firmware, only custom ROMs. If anyone has this up and running on the One Plus One, or if anyone has this running on stock, please let me know. My guess is that this will only work on stock AOSP or custom ROMs, but that is just a guess at this point - hoping to get confirmation as more people download and flash. Thanks for reporting, I'll see what I can do once I get more information from other users across devices (hopefully).
Just wanted to let everyone know - this works for M ROMs, at least for Pure Nexus Marshmallow. Enjoy spicing up your M ROMs until features get added, thought I'd have to wait on Omni M
