Plastic around charging port, and docking slots? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The thin plastic pieces around each of the slots on the tablet (charging/docking) where it connects to the keyboard dock have broken. I've tried super glue, and Gorilla glue, and each will hold for a short while, and then break again.
Anyone have any good solutions?
Thanks.

No-one else has had the plastic around the slots break?

I can confirm I've experienced this issue. I never tried to fix it; by the time it started breaking, it was old enough that I was ready to replace it anyway.

Replace the tablet, or replace the case? Thanks for the reply!

Rubber fitting loose

Hi all,
I wonder whether you have the same issue than I now have after 3 months with my Vox.
The rubber fitting of the USB connector slips out again after I stick it in. Some weeks ago it was still fine, then it started to slip out within 2 hours and now within 5 seconds.
Did anyone fix this problem already? I am close to removing it completely as it is really annoying. But then the USB port is open all the time (well, in fact this is the same now).
The rubber fitting for the storage card is also very loose meanwhile, like a bulge already. Also not nice.
Thanks for your thoughts and help. As always, much appreciated!!!

Hi there,
I have removed the rubber covering the USB connector by removing the battery cover and lifting out the part which holds the rubeer in place.
The one over the SD slot is constantly loose. I have no idea for that one.
I am open for other suggestions.
Thanks and good luck.

I ripped both the rubbers off my phone some time ago as they are a constant source of irritation
I also took mine off as they just got plain annoying after a while.
just remove it
i think everyone removed it. its a really stupid design. but there was old posts about this quite a while back. anyway, take ur battery cover off then pull on rubber upwards till it pops out. u can put it back if u ever want to sell phone
Known Issue
I believe this is a known issue that HTC used rubber for the connectors and it expands over time making it impossible to fit into their respective homes. However I recently had to send my s710 in for service and it looks like they realized this since when it came back all the connectors were made of some kind of vinyl type material. So far they fit perfectly.
Cheers
I wonder if the replacements can be ordered from HTC?

lol mate u might find my solution awkward(though it isnt),
this is wat i did::
u get those instant glues ... wch fix in one second, like here in india we have it by name "QUICKFIX" ... get one of that and CAREFULLY apply it to the sides of the rubber thing ONLY THE PART THAT ENTERS THE USB PIN... do it in such a way that only a small film/layer is formed on the rubber such that it becomes rough and fits in without slipping out...
REMEMBER TO BE CAREFUL WEN U R DOING THIS... FOR EXTRA SAFETY, COVER THE REST OF THE PHONE WITH A CLOTH... AND MAKE SURE THAT THE GLUE HAS COMPLETELY DRIED BEFORE U FIT THE RUBBER THING IN THE PIN... IN CASE U PUT SOME EXTRA GLUE THAT HARDENS LATER AND OBSTRUCTS, THEN USE A BLADE/PIN TO SCRAP THE EXTRA PART...
ALL THE BEST
I Had the same problem, just send it to HTC technical support, and you will get replacement parts, no physical modding, cuz then they don't put new ones in. Contacted HTC and they replace them, if they see they're loose.
I pulled out my rubber too it is better that way. No harm to phone obviously you can put it back
rubber issue
I've had my 710 repaired because of a faulty mainboard. They fixed the rubbers as well.

Solution to warping official HP folio case.

So it is quite popular (sadly) that the rubber case is warping and bowing out around the power and volume keys and USB port. Mine was quite bad. This is because the rubber is thinner in those areas.
Here is a temporary/long term fix. I have applied it to my case and so far it is staying flush against the TouchPad.
Get a hairdryer and heat the problem areas but at the same time as heating, ROLL the warped edges INWARDS. The tighter the roll curl the better. Be careful not to burn your fingers from the heat. Occasionally blast it with cold air as you keep it rolled. Try to keep it rolled up for 20 seconds allowing it to cool as you do so, before letting go. Those edges will now look quite odd now as they are bent inwards but when you put the TP back in the case, it pushes the edges out and keeps those warped edges flush against the case.
There is a knack and technique to doing it. I didn't know if it would work so I gave it a go and was surprised it did.
Good luck!
Thanks, I've not noticed this problem with my HP case but it's good to know there's a solution if it does crop up in the future.
Its really annoying and disappointed it has happened on an official case.
the only problem I have with mine is the little piece over the USB connector is warping upwards
Try calling HP. They sent new a new one.

Same issue here. I'm tempted to try rubber cement because it can easily be peeled off of most surfaces, but something tells me that the solvent may react badly when applied to a rubber surface.
Seems just like the touchpad, they didn't do much if any QA...

[Q] Anyone know of a good thin protective tape for ribbon cables?

I have 3 xperia plays all seem to have the same problem with the flex ribbon cable being broken, I fixed one and added some sticktape to the cable where it wears against the case on the slide part. I dont think this was the best idea tho, the slide is now not as smooth and im thinking the tape will wear throught and become tacky.
Does anyone know of any good thin protective tape or similar for this ribbon cable? Im putting this in general because Im sure there some other slide phones which might have this problem, or a solution.

Charging port fell off!?!

Ok, I have a big problem with my SW2. Last day I wanted to charge it and this happened. I can't open the charging port anymore! Any ideas?
Maybe try using a small Screwdriver and push it in the top slot of the port. (It will probably scratch your device a bit, but it's better than nothing, right?)
This is exactly how mine was when I got it used. The oval rubber type thing pops out with a tooth pick or as suggested above a small screwdriver. I hunted for ages for a replacement but ended up having to make a new port cover from some of the watches packaging that is a similar material. As you still have it just super glue the oval port seal back onto the cover and you're done!
Mine fell off the other day too. Super glue doesn't seem to hold it very well. I put it back on but it's fallen off 3 times. Every time I cut out the old glue residue and re-attach.

In the name of God, please help !!!!!

Hi,
I've been trying to get hold of a Samsung J6 replacement screen to replace my old one. It's a simple job of click and glue. However, I've tried several screens that all rock in the phone recess and not sit flush. I can't afford an original screen which probably would fit perfectly. So,through ebay each screen I try doesn't fit because of the chip and digitizer connector not seating correctly and it's driving me up the pole with frustration. Has anybody got any ideas of which screen to buy or if I'm doing something wrong? Please, save my sanity. Thankyou.

Welcome to XDA.
Is the frame bent or anything internally displaced? Has the battery failed? Any Li swelling is a failure, replace asap.
Any impact that can break the display can do additional internal damage.
Best to always use a good case to not only protect the exterior but to also limit G loading on internal components from a drop. The SOC and all BGA chipsets are particularly vulnerable to G loading and mobo flexing.
Hi,
No, everything is in place and lined up ok. If I put in the broken screen it sits snuggly into its recess. Either I'm really thick, as nobody else seems to have had this problem, or a lot of people are either buying the original screens or happy with a Chinese wonky one. ;o)

What's it hanging up on?
I've attached a couple of pics. One has the digitizer ribbon connector taped over and the is a brand that looks like LG? The cheap and cheerful one that don't fit is untaped and I think it's the digitizer connection that's fouling in the frame. There is a rebate in the frame for the connector and lcd chip but it's closer together. Bugger Samsung, I might just chuck it in a cupboard and get a Huawei............
Yeah something's screwy babalouie...
ifixit is suppose to be authorized to support Samsung replacement parts. I can't find it easily there, but check their site.
Plan B, use a ebay cheapo one.
Aliexpress has what they claim to be an original J600 screen for the J6 for under $16
