Hi all,
I wonder whether you have the same issue than I now have after 3 months with my Vox.
The rubber fitting of the USB connector slips out again after I stick it in. Some weeks ago it was still fine, then it started to slip out within 2 hours and now within 5 seconds.
Did anyone fix this problem already? I am close to removing it completely as it is really annoying. But then the USB port is open all the time (well, in fact this is the same now).
The rubber fitting for the storage card is also very loose meanwhile, like a bulge already. Also not nice.
Thanks for your thoughts and help. As always, much appreciated!!!
Have a lovely day

Hi there,
I have removed the rubber covering the USB connector by removing the battery cover and lifting out the part which holds the rubeer in place.
The one over the SD slot is constantly loose. I have no idea for that one.
I am open for other suggestions.
Thanks and good luck.

I ripped both the rubbers off my phone some time ago as they are a constant source of irritation
I also took mine off as they just got plain annoying after a while.
just remove it
i think everyone removed it. its a really stupid design. but there was old posts about this quite a while back. anyway, take ur battery cover off then pull on rubber upwards till it pops out. u can put it back if u ever want to sell phone
Known Issue
I believe this is a known issue that HTC used rubber for the connectors and it expands over time making it impossible to fit into their respective homes. However I recently had to send my s710 in for service and it looks like they realized this since when it came back all the connectors were made of some kind of vinyl type material. So far they fit perfectly.
Cheers
I wonder if the replacements can be ordered from HTC?

lol mate u might find my solution awkward(though it isnt),
this is wat i did::
u get those instant glues ... wch fix in one second, like here in india we have it by name "QUICKFIX" ... get one of that and CAREFULLY apply it to the sides of the rubber thing ONLY THE PART THAT ENTERS THE USB PIN... do it in such a way that only a small film/layer is formed on the rubber such that it becomes rough and fits in without slipping out...
REMEMBER TO BE CAREFUL WEN U R DOING THIS... FOR EXTRA SAFETY, COVER THE REST OF THE PHONE WITH A CLOTH... AND MAKE SURE THAT THE GLUE HAS COMPLETELY DRIED BEFORE U FIT THE RUBBER THING IN THE PIN... IN CASE U PUT SOME EXTRA GLUE THAT HARDENS LATER AND OBSTRUCTS, THEN USE A BLADE/PIN TO SCRAP THE EXTRA PART...
ALL THE BEST
I Had the same problem, just send it to HTC technical support, and you will get replacement parts, no physical modding, cuz then they don't put new ones in. Contacted HTC and they replace them, if they see they're loose.
I pulled out my rubber too it is better that way. No harm to phone obviously you can put it back
rubber issue
I've had my 710 repaired because of a faulty mainboard. They fixed the rubbers as well.

After 3 weeks SD slot rubber cover looks like this. Any idea why ? And what to do ?
just remove it if you take the battery out you can just pull the cover out i did mine the first day it does not halm the phone at all
All 4 pieces of Vox in Hungary I saw had the same f***ing SD cover rubber. I also took it out... the hole is better than that loose rubber piece. I think 3rd party supplier made this peanut part ... I do not understand how HTC could accept this and release the phones like this worldwide.
mine has started to look like that too. I got annoyed and took the usb cover off but i want to leave this one on. I hope it doesnt get any worse.
mine also looks like that...I have already removed the USB cover because the rubber was expanded in such a way that it was always popping off the hole...now it's the microSD cover that is way expanded, just like yours...it's really an annoying issue :S
So let's cooperate and write reclamation to HCT ? Any one has good english to write one ? I think it should be plastic cover, like on Nokia 6233 for micro SD or something similar. But not that rubber. USB cover i removed in first week, it was popping out. But without SD cover phone looks not realy pretty.
fix
a dot of supaglue does the trick. you can still get it off without damage if you need to
Yeah, i have the same problem also. The problem is the rubber expands, I first tried trimming the USB cover which helped a little but I eventually removed it. I don't want to remove the storage card cover as it would leave it too exposed.
This is quite sad really as it makes a very cool phone look cheap...
SHAME ON YOU HTC!!! SHAME ON YOU!
I noticed this also while working on a friends vox. I wonder if you got a few hundred people together and signed a petition maybe HTC could send everyone a new plastic cover.ROFL. But being a pessimist I think its gonna take something short of holding Peter Chou as a hostage before this happens. If it were my phone the last thing I would want to do is pull it off, im glad the herald memory card cover is quite solid. But who knows if someone can sue google for something stupid as this:
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/stupid/man-from-pennsylvania-sues-google-for-5-billion-302813.php
Maybe someone can sue HTC for emotional damages that were caused by being laughed at by friends and family after showing them a phone that costs 1-2 weeks salary that doesn't even look good as a brick . I think I got the perfect lawyer for whoever steps up.
None other than Jackie Chiles himself...hopefully you'll have better luck than Cosmo Kramer
I have the same problem
The rubber from the USB I have removed.
The SD cover looks ugly.
too bad, I like having the USB cover, it prevents dirt from coming into the phone. I wish HTC would come out with a plastic one too....
They probably wont, because this phone is not sold by any major carriers, at least here in the US.
I've trimmed mine down to fit better with a sharp blade, then used superglue to secure it in place, I can still remove it and re-glue if required, it's a damm site less annoying now !
Same here - wish I had know about this issue before buying the phone
I'm hoping of selling it soon.
Same problem here and it has been a long time I removed the USB rubber cover wich was really very very boring, annoying and awfull !
Now, with the SD rubber cover, I almost have the same problem. Everyday and everytime, I just have to push it a little bit to re-place it correctly. I don't want to removed it cause I'm afraid that it will let an awfull hole on the side of the phone (worse than the USB one). But how long will I keep it like that ?
That said, I don't think that the problem will definitely disappear if HTC send us a new one. We or HTC should find another solution. May be a new stronger rubber cover as we can see on the Nokia Phone ? Who's gonna make this for us ??? Thanks in advance ! ;-)
same here ...
usb removed, not the SD but i will remove it too ...
Removed my rubber USB cover on Thursday as the leather strap that has the magnetic clip on my Krusell case covers the USB port, but goning to leave the SD one on, so as the SD card does not get ejected and lost accidentaly sa it is not as annoying as the USB cover as it is not constantly popping open.

Do not remove the SD cover......i removed both covers on my vox,my phone looks so cheap and ugly now.Try to fiks it with glue or whatever.
me too..... bloody shame as i love the phone !!
i took the USB cover off on day 1 as i use a desk cradle and it was simply in the way but i do not want to remove the SD slot cover. It does now appear that the cover is too big for the hole and i find myself trying to push it in ALL the time !!!! i will NOT glue it but it does spoil what otherwise appears to be a very well designed and built phone !
Just take it off, I don't have my miniUSB nor my microSD rubber covers and everything is fine, doesn't make the phone look "cheap and ugly" at all.
I normally love brodit products, having used them exclusively for the last 2 years+ (about 6 different ones for my various phones), but I won't be using this mount for 2 reasons:-
1) it's a REALLY tight fit, and I value having a scratch free phone.
2) the usb port is not lined up correctly meaning you have to try to bend either the phone or the mount to get the port in.
I've attached a picture, sorry it's bad, but you can see where the teflon (or whatever the soft covers are made of) has been taken off and put across the metal, you can see a line all up the side of the soft surface, but it doesn't show on the photo.

I already ordered one earlier this week. It hadnt arrived yet, but Im hoping that maybe you just had a faulty one and they generally fit better.... thanks for the warning though.
I got mine today. It hasn't scratched my phone yet, but I would agree that the connector is slightly off.
Same, no scratches, but I have to 'jiggle' slightly to get the connector to fit.
You know what, I have to take that back. I used this a few times last night and it was dropping in just fine, no need for jiggling!
any way to auto-activate the car-dock mode? maybe a DIY mod?
edit: btw: i had a bad experience with the holder for my hero. to be more exact with the tilt swivel. the screw was too short, and the adhesive was in the wrong place, so it would always unscrew itself and fall of. had to replace it with my own screw. haptics of the swivel are nothing to write home about too.
you can make it always run it when it's charging. for me charging = in car so that's ok.
My battery cover is a little loose all of a sudden. at the bottom it now moves a little. When I squeeze (lightly, normal use amount) the phone at the bottom kinda clicks. Anyone else have this issue?
Yes. I called HTC and they're replacing it. But for now what you can do is put paper inside the case
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Yeah, several other people reported this problem on a Dutch forum. People should not open the backcover unless they really have to. After opening the cover a few times the cover is getting loose and starts to crack when you press it.
okay so I have the same problem, should I be worried or is it just the case with all sensation handsets ?
Take the cover off and press the battery. I think that's what it is...or maybe both.

I don't think that's it, the battery is fitted normally, and I've just tested it with battery removed, it does the same thing, I should mention that it isn't really that obvious, but it's an annoyance nonetheless, such an expensive phone to have a glitch like that.
can anybody confirm that it does loosen after some time of usage, I mean did it came like that out of the box or was it getting loose with time?
I just noticed this on mine this morning , will steal a new cover soon
****ttttt let me check mine lol
...same here, at the right bottom corner!!!!
...and I agree, tooooo expensive phone for such a glitch!

I went to a tmobile store to see if they'll let me switch. The rep told me thy they can't switch cuz its an htc problem. Then he got curious and pulled out his sensation to see if his had it...
He looked so sad lol I just got off the phone with htc and my replacement cover is shipping soon and if the second one is defective then I have to send in my whole phone so they can check it out. You guys should call htc I'd you already haven't
I fixed mine by adding some paper to the back.

Hey first post here! Signed up just to have my say on this issue, just as i did with the android central forum.
Also posted this on the android central forums...
Got the creaking here also, definitely a design flaw. Being obsessive with my devices i couldnt live with it!
I do not recommend putting paper in the cover to fill the gap, as this is just expanding the cover further making it even MORE loose when the paper is not in there. Also i wouldn't recommend it because the paper pushes the back cover out a little more, you may loose a connection for the ground. Which is the little metal springy thing, half way up the right hand side. Obviously its not a good idea to 'push' the cover further away from this ground spot. I have heard that people have had issues with screen responsiveness due to a static build up from not grounding properly.
What i did to fix this problem was a bit of a kitbash of sorts.
Mine was creaking on the bottom right area, like most. The problem is there is too much play between the little black catches on the battery cover and the latch on the handset. Instead of filling up the gap between the phone and the cover (Ala paper, card in the cover) I closed it!
What you need to do is get some very thin plastic film. Like that on kids toy packaging etc. Not the thicker stuff though. This stuff would be under 1mm thick. It came as a viewing window in the box my new wallet came in. So you can sorta imagine what im talking about.
I cut a piece about 10mm long and as wide as one of the two little black catches. I applied a VERY thin coat of super glue to one end of the film. Just enough to cover the area under the catch. Then i carefully placed the film with the superglue on it under the catch, and then quickly applied some pressure to it with some tweezers. Then i carefully cut the excess off with a pair of finely tipped nail scissors.
The result is that it now PULLS the screen/phone INTO the cover more by making the little black catch thicker. Not the opposite (paper method), which pushes the cover out, creating a further problem of adding more paper under the cover over time as the cover expands/loosens to compensate. Not to mention a possible grounding loss and resulting damage.
Hope this helps some people that have had multiple replacements or could not be bothered replacing for such a cosmetic issue. (Like me). It definitely works, just got to get your surgeon on and be accurate with your placement of the film.
Apply this to what ever side creaks the most, and bam its gone. Nice. Solid phone... again.
If anyone wants more specific details etc, im all ears.
Regards,
Matt.
MrSoulSOng A video explaining this fix would be appreciated ^_^ cuz I didnt buy my phone from here and I still gotta wait for about a month to send it to the shop to fix or get a replacement
...just an update...after buying new back cover from no1tech (that was month and a half ago...) there's no loose spots, no creacking...!
Very satisfied now I am. Finally phone feels and looks like it should be - beast in compact housing!
I have the very same problem too. VERY annoying
well I had the same problem however what i did was that on the back cover inside of it I put some black electric tape on to the sides that creak (next to the sides and the clips) and when I put the cover back on there was no creaking at all. figured it wont interfere with the single because people put cases on the back all the time plus its electric tape meaning it'll prevent from short circuits and I don't think there should be any overheating issue as its a very small quantity.
I've been using my HTC 7 pro for around 8 months and now the hinge has started to bend in one specific place, in fact its the external plastic that is bending, about 3/4 of the way along.
It doesnt impair usage and suggests that its just a simple screw come out somewhere but it is quite worrying. I think if I don't deal with it then I may risk the whole hinge breaking completely!
Has anyone seen this before? And know an easy way to fix it?
Has anyone had a 7 pro apart before and remember anything that may have caused this? Is this external bar the actual hinge or simple a plastic showy cover?
Is there a disassembly guide around for this?
I'm pretty savy with poking around inside tiny phones over the years but if it seems really hard I can try to RMA it, the problem being I'm living in China for a few months and so I guess to RMA it I would need to return to the UK, or ask a relative in the UK to....
Would really appreciate any help with this!
I have the HTC arrive and had the same problem happen to mine after I dropped it. I used the memory upgrade guide to locate all the screws in the device. I ended up just removing that piece of plastic and the little metal piece that holds it in place. The hinge now more easily gets dust and debree in it but without the plastic piece it is super easy to clean it out.
Sent from my T7575 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Oh cool, So that plastic bit really does nothing other than help keep dust out, I found a tiny screw near my phone, possible this caused it, I might try taking it apart and see if I can sort it, guess I could change the memory card too whilst I'm there!
Thanks, I will report back if it works...
i had the same problem a few weeks ago, one of the two screws which holds this plastic was broken and fallen out. i had a similar screw, just cut it to the length and put on the position back, its easy to get to the two screws, just remove the plastic from above than the second layer with the 7 screw just behind... and then you see two holes for the screws...
Hmmm, some success.
I too it apart and found the offending screw ( i will put another post here later with a guide when I have time maybe, just incase it happens to someone else)
Also did the SDCard whilst I was there.
I put the screw in and it seemed fine, but now it has happened again, i suspect that the screw hole may be stripped? and so no screws will stay. Annoying but as it doesn't seem to break the phone I guess I will just keep using it for now.
One hint, be very careful of the plastic cover when the phone is apart, I touch mine slightly too hard, and snapped the end of the cover off! Its very brittle!
So I picked up my new G5 in gold only to get home and find scuffs on it after I pealed off all the plastic. Is it worth it to try and get it swapped out through t mobile ? Also has anyone else had this happen to them on this phone or another and what did you do? Thanks for the help. The scuff is under the tray for the sim and sd card (I know its tiny).
Mine is less than 24 hours old and I just noticed 2 simular marks on my phone, I don't have a case yet and don't really care personally being that I do the Jump every year anyway. You might be able to ask for another one in exchange.
Getting a case
I got the silver and I don't see any obvious issues (except the weird chrome that stops abruptly and kind of looks like it was scratched off, but I've heard it's there to allow the antennas to pass through). But the rough edges are begging for a case (and the misalignment with the removable battery might drive me crazy eventually), so I'll be getting a slim one.
Other than that, no cosmetic complaints.
