Hey there, ive got a problem with my Desire S.
I bought the phone about 4 weeks ago and the first two weeks everything worked fine. But since the last two weeks, the phone is turning off itself randomly. I am sure, that its not a software problem, because I flashed the standart RUU Rom before but it turned off again. Also i checked the battery contacts and the SIM contacts, both are okay.
Maybe some other hardware contacts arent fitting?
Excuse my bad english, I am from Germany^^
Greets.
Same problem
I have the same problem.
And it's definitely not a software problem...
And I've realized, that when I press the battery cover on the right and left sides, it turns off. And mostly it also turns off when I have my Desire S in my pocket.
Yeah mine too, sometimes I pull my phone out of my pocket and I see it's off. I think that's not a software issue, changed several ROMs but always the same problem. Fortunately it happens seldom.
I remember that someone else experienced this and fixed it by putting a piece of folded paper behind the battery to guarantee it's connection didn't fail
Swyped from my Desire S using XDA Premium
this is a known issue !

Try putting your phone on one palm (face up) and then tap it with the other, just like if you were claping (with reasonable force) Does it turn off? If it does, a had a same problem, and its definitely problem with battery contacts.
Put some isolating/electrical tape around bottom part of battery (just one layer, all around), and about 1cm above. Just make sure that tape is thin enough, so the battery can still fit in. This should also solve creaking battery cover
Good luck
Hey, i tried everything, you said, but nothing fixed the problem. I think, the battery contacts are ok, becuase i fixed them with a little piece of paper before.
Also, i tried this trick with the clapping in your hand, but then the device is still on.
I read a thread about a similar problem, there was a broken battery the problem, which got under a high temperature or has voltage problems.
I contacted HTC and they say, that i should try another battery in my device, which the gonna send me soon.
Greets.
Fixed

OK i did a sketch of Desire S with google sketch book, For who can not fix the shutdown problem.
1th we need 2 piece of paper NO#1 and NO#2.
NO#1 will locate between battery and that back cover.
NO#2 will locate between the batteries bottom and top of that plastic lock (it makes more force to push the battery forward to the pins)
Details:
The papers must be 1 mm (or lilbit less) in thickness.
For what i used
NO#1= 3.5 x 5 cm
NO#2= 0.5 x 3.5 cm
GL HF
same problem and the solution
Hi
I had my wife phone with the same problem.
It is running with the venom rom and the rom is dream, but the problem which
is described earlier, kept coming .
After reading about the battery solution here, I think the problem solved.
I will check for the next few days
I want to thank you all for finding the solution
Thank you
Avi

Hello guys,
My SGR screen is suddenly showing different color pixels near the bottom and egdes of the screen.. It doesn even appear on the screenshot.. I was on Lidroid ROM, then I reset and flashed Titanium v2.1 and finally now I'm on the stock ROM. Yet its still there.
It is NOT dead pixels. Its as if the LCD screen is corrupted and there is even random blackout from around the same time this pixel discoloration happened.
I think its a LCD issue but wanted to know if u guys think its a software issue by any chance? Else i have to take it to SSC again - 3rd time!
TIA
Same issue on all ROMs, Screen shots are perfect...
definitely HW issue...
Have u dropped ur phone or any accident which can cause impact to phone?

Will observe for couple of days and let know!
Damn I got a totally new issue now. As soon as I connect my headphones to my SGR, there is a blackout. It doesnt switch off coz the touch key light remains on. I have to re-insert the battery to switch it on.
I had the motherboard replaced 10 days back coz of random shutdowns. Since I got it, I noticed that I could not change songs in any of the music players using the headset controls. I just ignored it. And now as soon as I connect the headphones it just goes black!..
Taking it to the SSC right away..

They took an hour to check it and finally decided that the motherboard has to be replaced again. Yes AGAIN!. No wonder there is a shortage of Galaxy R motherboards elsewhere. This will be my third - and hopefully the last one for years.

Might be a problem with the internal wirings or that a part is being overloaded (most probably connects to the screen)

Even my device had a spot little brighter... I was thinking I should not claim... becoz the service people here are not that well trained....
But, eventually... my soft keys stopped working and.. I was bound to go there... and they will replace it in 4 days...(as they are saying now).... I hope the best.... Jai Shri Ram....
I just purchased my S6 about 2 months ago and today noticed it was coming apart due to the possibility of the battery swelling. I really haven't seen any other problems like this with the S6. Was curious if anyone has had an issue. Gotta call the store when I get off work and see what they say. I attached a few pics to show the swelling.

I used the fast charger that came with the phone or my other samsung charger. Majority of the time it was the fast charger though. Took it to the Verizon store last night and should have a new phone when I get home tonight from work.

I'd tell them to suck a fat one, then either get on Verizon chat or Samsung support to get a better solution.

It's not the battery swelling, its just the adhesive unsticking. I've heard reports of this before, apparently it happened with some early S6 models.
Ok, so I have one of the earlier releases and I was having the same thing, until today. Today I realized that my battery was swelling up..... Very quickly. It got so bad that I decided to replace the battery. My buddy has a barely used s6 so I decided to use is battery on my phone.
Once I followed the ifixit teardown and got to the battery I noticed that the battery wasn't swollen, but the foil wrapper on the battery had air trapped between the foil and the battery. Now, when air hearts up, what does it do....? It expands!!! All I had to do was make a few small careful cuts on both sides of the battery foil, press out the air, then reassemble the phone.
Now it's working flawlessly and no more swelling!

Old thread I realize but this was the problem I found with a device recently purchased (10 bucks) out of a local pawn shop junk drawer I frequent. Poked a hole ... charges up. Now I'm just wondering why it happened in the first place.
This fixed it!!

I had the same issue pop up and I stuck a needle thru the little slit it made while swollen and pierced the foil wrapper around the battery and "pssssss" I heard the air leave and saw the swelling subside. Tadaa well for anyone else that does not want to tear the phone apart cutting holes or replacing batteries; replacing phones. There is a method you can use.
The battery in my S6 is swelling too. It happened very recently even though I've had the phone since the original launch date.

If i remove charger or power bank, phone again turn off suddenly in 1 min.
Search over forums and web but not found any solution.

I'm also facing the same issue. It's clearly a battery issue. I contacted my nearest customer care (which is at least 150 KM away). They said they have to analyze the phone, it will take 2 weeks or more.
I found a bunch of same issue within last 2 months.

The original batteries cost 1800 in India. I think there is no genuine BLP571 batteries on any online market.

Obviously, same case with any other device out there.Even I bet service centers don't have the original one, they just buy from any store and repair device then ask heavy duty charges.
You can visit the battery thread in Accessories, people claim that even the one bought from service center's are fake. You should not be using OPO as your primary device if the battery is damaged as even after replacement, you'll be getting charging and battery backup issues.Better to sell it.

i also had the same issue........
Hi! I had the same issue in August last year. It is a battery problem, it is not able to hold charge any longer. I replaced it and it works fine now. Just so you know you cannot get a genuine battery so your only option is to replace it with some 3rd party battery. I got it replaced for around 1000 bucks. I hope this helps.
Can you please point, where did you get the battery from? I am also looking for it, local service center doesn't have any stock.
Aloha all! Got my 3 XL last Thursday, everything worked great and had no complaints. This morning at my desk I looked over and it was off. Try to turn it on and I get the google screen then BLACK. Plug it in, get the charge icon, black, charge icon, black. About 1 in 10 times it'll boot up, I see the battery says full, but before I can unlock it.....BLACK. Just won't turn back on.
FWIW, Google is sending me a replacement, but wanted to record it in case others end up with the issue. So strange, I had 0 issues before this and it was literally just laying on my desk. I can NOT get it to boot. Tried 3 chargers and Qi...all same result.
Back to a 2XL for a few days
