Stuck on Verizon screen? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Hey I'm new here. I have a question wife's phone is stuck on Verizon screen(red screen with Verizon and logo)
Blue light on phone is solid.
I've tryed everything and it won't go past this screen. Idk what to do at this point. I didn't do a factory reset due to all the photos and stuff will be lost? Called Verizon and they just told me it means it's time for a new phone? Is that true?

It happened to me once, i'm not sure what I did to solve the issue but don't worry, you don't have to hard reset, maybe you can try plugging the phone to your computer and use Kies or Smart Switch. Keep looking on Google or other web sites

Stuck in same exact place.
Samsung chat offered to fix for free, due to this happening immediatley after OTA update but I had to call voice samsung support. No luck, they said factory reset....
It's been a while since I've been on these forums and I"m cleaning the cobwebs out....
I've tried all soft resets, recovery mode, cache clearing, etc, nothing. Tried Kies, SmartSwitch, nothing.
Here to educate myself on using ADB(Drivers are installed) Odin and any other community tools to replace/clear/update/downdate, etc so that I can boot up.
What tools are there that will allow us to replace stock os with previous version so that we can save our photos?

My touch pro 2 has been bricked

I posted this in another thread as it was similar (though for tmobile), but I believe I haven't gotten any answers there I was hoping to try here:
I was installing winmo msn messenger. It installed fine and reset my tp2 fine. It goes thru the tp2 splash screen, the verizon splash screen and the winmo splash screen. Then it shows owner information and this is where it gets screwed up. Owner info will stay up forever if I dont touch the screen. After touching the screen the only thing left will be the top bar and the rest of the screen stays black. The only things on the top bar are the signal icon (which always has an x), the wifi icon (which seems to be connected fine lol) and either owner info will still be in the upper left or the start menu will be there. Hitting the screen only causes my tp2 to beep.
Nothing I know how to do (which is basically just hard and soft resetting it) works. Verizon can't fix it (didnt think they would be able to) and I can find no drivers (possibly cause I'm still a noob with winmo) to resolve my issue. I'm not even sure how I'd get them on as it wont even sync up to my computer and my computer cannot find its hd. If I could get a rom for the verizon one I think I can figure it out from there with no issues...but htc website sends me to verizon website for support and vice versa. The htc wiki is the closest I've gotten to an answer...but no rom to download. The only OEM roms I can find anywhere aren't for this phone, unless one of those will work? You guys are the experts.
Does anyone know what I can try? Verizon wants me to return it but cannot tell me when I'll get my new one as they are out of stock...again. Please help lol! Thanks for any and all help because I NEED a phone and can't wait around for them to decide to include them in the next shipment, nor would I appreciate being given some other type of phone in the mean time simply because I paid for the tp2, if I had wanted another phone I would have bought it instead.
if you do just a litle searching over at ppcgeeks, there's info about shipped roms and where to get them. (not sure if its kosher to post a direct link to it or not, given that these are shipped roms). hopefully that will help, otherwise, dunno what to tell ya.
First off, I can tell you that installing MSN Messenger would NOT brick your TP2. There are other problems with the phone, most likely a bad mfr rom. If you performed a hard reset (You did didnt you?) it would reload the factory rom.. so if your phone is still bricked, your factory rom is hosed, or your phones hardware is hosed. Installing MSN Messenger would not do this by itself.
Learning from trial and error is a tough road. Return the phone for a new one while you still have the option. You got a get out of jail free card, now is the time to use it.

I checked over there, but if you're saying it's there then it's obvious I need to check again. Also seeing as you've suggested this I'm guessing:

Isn't as big of an issue as I thought it was? And if it isn't...how do I get around this?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by mfr (I'll hit up google after this) but I can tell you only what I know. My phone worked fine for 3 days. Once I got it set up like I wanted and was ready to start installing other crap I did so, I started with MSN.

Yup got the hard reset in there, it just didnt do anything. However, one thing I did not was that there were numerous postings with different ways to hard reset the device. The only one I could get to do anything at all was pressing volumn down + reset while the phone was off but it stayed at the tri color screen without much else going on...so I coulda just done the wrong one or did it wrong all together. If I did please point me in the right direction.
Like I said before I can't say if it was screwed from the time I first turned it on as this is my first smartphone and first experience with tf3d (I've had many pda's though) but it had been soft reset multiple times prior, along with a couple of hard resets, and had no issue bouncing back from those. Reset after MSN install...hosed. Not that I'm saying your wrong, you guys are the experts here, but from what I've experienced regardless of what caused it msn will certainly not be going on my next smart phone. I'll opt for one of the all in one apps like I was going to before I decided to go with a name I trusted.

Got no choice about this. The only issue I have with this is the fact that they can't tell me when I'll get my new phone. Plus I have only 1 of 2 choices:
1. Mail my phone back and get a refurbished one in return....uhm...no
2. Take my phone back to the verizon store I got it at, get my refund, and hope to god that I can get another one the next time they get it in stock.
I'm not trying to ***** and complain...just trying to find a way to fix it without a)paying 300 for a refurbished phone, or b)going an unknown amount of time without my phone.
does your start menu drop down when you hit it? When i go to settings/today/items and uncheck the TouchFLO 3d my screen is just as you describe. Its pure black with the top bar available. Did you check to see if the touchflo 3d is turned on?

You went into boot loader mode. I did a hard reset on my sprint version but I dont remember how technical support told me. I think it was power off the phone. push and hold 'up' volume key, then hit and hold the reset switch till the phone boots. This will start off looking like a normal soft reset, but it will take much longer, your phone will be erased of all info you put in and it will do an instalation of software and reboot right before touchflo starts . I dont think you will ever get a tri-color screen (i could be wrong), which is what you get when the phone is expecting a rom flash from a computer. the whole process probably takes like five minutes, and theres a spot right after it starts it looks like your phone is doing nothing (Leave it be!). I've been messing with a lot of phones recently, and i dont remember if you got to hold the up key and reset button till you get a hard reset warning or not. (it might tell you all your data will be erased, and whether or not to continue)
edit:
just did a quick google and confirmed it on my sprint touch pro2. push and hold 'send' and 'end' key. Using your teeth, push and hold the 'reset' button with the stylus. finaly, push the power button. (all three need to be pressed down when you hit the power). the tri color screen flashes, then a white screen warns of the reset and says push 'up' volume key to continue, any other key to cancel. Hope this helps.
When you did the hard reset, did you get a warning that all data was going to be erased and where you asked to enter something to confirm? If you didn't, then you have not done a hard reset.
I had to try several times to get mine to hard reset. Even though I hit the proper keys, the phone would just soft reset, not hard reset. I can see how you can easily be fooled thinking you did a hard reset if you don't know what to look for.
I think there are different key presses for Verizon vs Sprint. Make sure you're using the right one.
BTW, "mfr" = manufacturer . . . i.e. HTC

Confirmed. The Verizon HTC TP2 Hard Reset is the same as T-Mobile but is different from Sprint.
With POWER OFF, hold Volume Down while pressing SEND (green) and END (red). It takes about 4 seconds to take. WARNING: THIS IS A HARD RESET, BACK UP YOUR CONTACT LISTS AND DATA. EVERYTHING BUT YOUR OEM INSTALL WILL BE WIPED.

I actually ended up calling HTC about 6hrs ago (5 pm est) and they did confirm what i had already started thinking. Verizon tech support has no idea what the hell they are talking about when it comes to this phone.
@spunks74 you're absolutely right, this is just what htc said and is where I finally figured out....verizon needs to get this phone in their techs hands instead of giving them pictures and text.
@DragonNote this is exactly what htc told me after they told me verizon didnt know how to hard reset. thanks for the info, even if i called htc before checking here. thank god im obsessive about backups or I would have been screwed because once this happened....nope no way to do anything at all. Also, for other forum members that may not know, the link you provided (for t-mobile) is completely different than the link for the hard reset for verizon:
http://www.htc.com/us/faqs.aspx?p_id=294&cat=0&id=110490&f=t
which is why i was at such a loss during this issue...I couldn't get that far lol. I read sooo many different ways to hard reset the phone but none worked. obvviously i never checked to seei f the different providers would hard reset different ways. i just assumed they would all reset the same way (i guess this time assuming only made an ass out of me) so i found myself looking at ways to reset the touch pro 2 and ways to reset the rhocium, which is where all the different variations can be found.
@mjcole2003 Without touch flo i recognize the gui right away, and the first time it happened i did think i had just jacked up the flashy gui, but while it was the bare winmo gui there was nothing I could do. any screen touch, any keypress all ended with the same outcome I'd touch/press and the device would only *beep*

copy that. my condolences for your loss. I would have them replace it immediately. Too much BS for a new ppc. Only makes you wonder what else is wrong with it.
Why don't you do a hard reset via Clear Storage in settings? This surely seems like something that can be fixed with a hard reset.

Because as the OP said he cant do anything inside the GUI. IE hard reset is only option.
My mistake

[Q] I think my girlfriends phone is fried! Can't open serial(COM) port in Odin

First of all I'm a "noob" when it comes to the ins and outs of the whole mobile phone rooting idea and processes. My uncle got me on board with this and is currently 700mls away...
Back ground on the phone, its a samsung epic 4g and it was rooted, I hadnt added any roms onto the phone. My initial attempts to do so after driver downloads and youtube videos etc...I had a hiccup at one point and had to reset the phone back to factory using odin. Very helpful by the way, saved my backside. I was able to get the phone rooted again and recovered the rom that I had saved on my gf's phone. My last attempt at getting a rom on her phone via attempting to change her eco5 version to ext4(I believe thats what i needed to do in order to get the syndicate rom on there) failed miserably. Either I didnt follow the video correctly or there were some pre-reqs that I hadnt covered prior to my attempt.
Long story short the odin attempt was taking extremely long and my phone got disconnected in the loading process. Her phone was showing up this danger sign with a phone/exclamation mark/and a pda...bad stuff. It finally let me reset it and i had what seemed to be her old rom...but with NO SERVICE! How do I get service back to her phone or am I screwed?? Someone, anyone please help me, let me know that there is some sort of full factory reset or something!! please...until then, ill have to break the news to her. I have full insurance and looks like it might end up being used.
A desperate user---
Don't worry if its just not getting service then you can get the apn settings for your carrier and add them manually that's what i had to do once.

How to completely wipe phone

So my wife in her infinite wisdom, bought a Galaxy S6 off some guy at her work to replace my aging HTC M8. The catch being that he forgot his Samsung credentials, so he couldn't log in, and therefore is selling the phone to make up for his stupidity.
Before buying it, she checked the IMEI and its clear, along with the fact that the guy had all the original stuff that came with it, and it was almost brand new.
Now my question is, how can I bypass this? How can everything be erased for this isn't an issue? I've odined it to a fresh ROM, even Nand Erase All, but its still stuck with it. I know previous versions there was ways around it, but I can't seem to find one with this.
Currently running AT&T build G920AUCU2AOF3, which I believe is 5.0.2.
The phone is still logged into his old Samsung account? That shouldn't happen if you reset the phone. It should boot into a fresh rom with zero accounts connected to the phone

Yes. Especially if he used the NAND Erase All.
Whilst off. Volume up, home button + power button. Boot to recovery then format device, erase all user data. Unless the previous owner had cerberus installed, as this inhibits the power button when locked....
The previous owner was an older guy that probably forgot his screen lock, googled how to reset it, found a tutorial on XDA, and messed that up. He had that "I have no idea what tech is" vibe, so I doubt he had Cerberus installed.
How does the Samsung Reactivation lock manage to stay on even over a fresh Odin install?
Any ideas?
Flash twrp and factory reset and format
Bump.

Check out my SM-G92xx Helper Post, link in my signature below...
A simple hard reset (phone off, volume up+home key+power button) should do the trick.
I bought my phone on Swappa, and even tho the seller already did a full wipe, I still did it anyways and it started the phone with the initial phone set up where I had to sign into my gmail, samsung account, etc
Id use samsung smart switch. It wipes and downloads then flash the latest firmware for your phone

S7/android 8 reset bootloop issue (a few questions)

Hi, I'm not very android savvy but I heard this is the place to go for good information so please bear with me. I had a s7 that bootloop and even after the factory reset it still continued to bootloop. I had the insurance through ATT. I have read horror stories online about how the factory reset doesn't really delete anything, but also those articles were around 4 years old. So while I did a recovery mode factory reset before sending it into insurance, I am still apprehensive about if the phone is refurbished other people can get into my google account and get my information (addresses, contacts, messages etc). And to make it even uneasier, nowhere on the ATT or asurion websites does it say that they will handle your information with care. Does anyone even know what they do or is it a willy Wonka level secret?
I would recommend you reflash the firmware using Odin as that will actually erase data and re-write https://updato.com/how-to/how-to-install-an-official-samsung-stock-firmware-using-odin
Or you can use Samsung smart switch, which I also think downloads and flashes firmware, but I'm not 100%

HTC Bootloop. No debugging, Unrooted.

Hi all!
This is new to me so I would like to apologise in advanced for this. I hope I've put this on the right section.
Go easy on me, I'm out of ideas.
Short Story
Unrooted HTC One XL is stuck in bootloop from failed software update. Phone has been in an infinite bootloop since 2013. Phone can be booted to HBoot mode.
Loss of data is not an option. Would rather the paperweight.
Google image of what is visible at HBoot attached. (Not my image)
Long story
I have my mothers HTC One XL (Telstra Aus), I've seen various name versions but this is the one the phones telling me so we'll go with it.
During a software update back in 2013 something happened which in turn messed up the update. God knows what. The phone has been in an infinite bootloop ever since. We had it sent away through our provider (Telstra). They basically shrugged their shoulders and returned it.
My mother couldn't care less about the phone itself, It's the photos.
The phone does not have usb debugging on, Is not rooted, nor can it boot to turn it on. Obviously.
After quickly getting sick of waiting for it to die before trying again the phone has been opened and battery is now "removable".
Cache cleared, reboot, soft restarts....Nothing.
Every year or so I scour the internet looking for a hail mary that may have come along. Dr Fone would be good if it catered to "Broken" htc's not just samsungs.
So I guess my question is, is there by any chance something new has come along on order to either retrieve the photos from the device? Or, different methods in which to get the phone out of its bootloop so the phone can be accessed that way? Without the loss of any data.
Sorry if this is a bit all over the place.
Thank you in advance.
