Downgrade - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I'm new to the s7,but already don't like nougat performance ...My question is did mm run better on this device battery wise and fluidity

Or is it even possible to downgrade I'm currently using a T-Mobile s7 on metro rooted and debloated running skynet prime to tame CPUs and frequencies but still seeing battery depleating while screen on just expected more ...should have went with the axon 7?

Whats the compatible mm room my phone can run

Decided to go another route gonna try U firmware just a little worried about loosing functionality since I'm using it on a T-Mobile device that is carrier locked to T-Mobile any one else done this before .

You should be able to flash down to MM. Just look for the number 4 towards the end of the firmware name on the last MM's released. You can not downgrade further than the 4th bootloader since you are already on nougat.

What r you running and what do you suggest I'm looking for better battery and fluidity

So I ended up going on and flashing the 930u firmware directly from sammobile and things are looking better fluidity has 3x in my opinion and battery I'm going to give a couple cycles to settle in before making my observation lag is almost not present . The heat has dropped too

[Q] Is updating to Gingerbread worth it?

"Hey there im brand new to this forum and android in general i just switched from an iphone to the Lg G2x. I have to say the G2x is incredible but my battery life isn't i get on average 5 to 6 hrs of battery life (lose about 20% every hour) as others i have installed juice defender ultimate, setcpu, and watchdog. In addition to all these apps i uninstalled apps like T-mobile app pack and wifi calling because these apparently use up a lot of battery. So my question is if there any tips you guys can give me or setting for my phone or apps because maybe i have everything i need installed but with the wrong settings any help at all would be great thank you in advance
Info that might help:
As of now the juice defender app reports: 1.36x improvement"
That was me a few weeks ago and after all of the suggestions many of the users gave me i only saw maybe like a 20 to 30 minutes improvement of battery life which is not to great because im only getting 6hrs moderate usage out of my Lg G2x so my question is should i install the update because according to lg its supposed to fix my battery issue because from the looks of things ive tried everything i can (Factory restores. removing bloatware, turning off unnecessary things like bluetooth, gps, etc)
Id appreciate any advice or feedback from those who have updated to see if they can confirm they have better battery life in addition it might be helpful to know phone is rooted and unlocked
I admit I didn't read through your entire post, but I recommend updating to gingerbread, then flashing either weapon or eagle blood rom, and then flashing one of the themes by myself and kingdavid. You won't regret it.
You don't wanna know where this was sent from.
what changes will i get if i get those roms?
I recommend it! You'll get an updated baseband, which fixes GPS and Signal issues.

Battery life is a bit better on gingerbread. If you're trying to get good battery life, I'd recommend flashing CM7, and using SetCPU profiles.

wont stay rooted. Need to flash a rom through cwm. camera is same as nexus gets, its stock camera
Batttery is amazing. Im heavy on the rom changing, had this phone two weeks from my Sensation and it still is stock with the screen animation, but no super user. stock doesnt have tv lock
Oh, im at 30% right now, from mainly stand by and heavy use since 6 pm. its 11:20 pm
@matistight wow thats a amazing battery life thats what im looking for and well thats what i wanted to avoid because im new to android phones so i dont know how to root them is it a big hassle because if it isn't ill go ahead and update and btw if i do update what should i do in preparation before the update?
also what did you mean by " stock doesnt have tv lock "
Just updated my phone to gingernread looks nice but im no longer rooted and dying to get rid of all that bloatware can someone help me root it?
How did you update to GB? I heard there were issues with LG/Tmobile update causing a brick?
I used the LG updater tool and had no issues at all. I used it with Windows 7.
And I definitely think its worth the update if only for the updated baseband. I get more consistent signal and much faster GPS locks now.
i was able to do it through the lg support tool without any trouble took about 8 mins

Use the nvflash tool from the dev section to flash cwm back to your phone and then flash whatever rom you want. If you want straight up rooted stock there's one in the dev section you can flash.
@phburks
Do you mean OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe??? and how eactly do i do that because i opened "OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe" but dnt know where to go from here and should i stick to the stock rom or are other custom ones better ? any you can recommend?

Here's a good video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy9on64jAZs)
Obviously don't flash CM7 if you don't want to. The begining part tells you how to use nvflash (oneclickrecovery)

Not sure what the file itself is called but its the one from the OP in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Stock recovery won't allow you to flash custom roms. Flash clockworkmod recovery. Choose the internal option if you want clockworkmod to read files/roms and save backups to your internal memory. Choose the external option if you want it to use your external/removable sdcard. I personally use the external version. Its really up to your preference.
@Mister Hat Than you!!!
@phburks
btw the reason why i updated was in hopes of getting better battery life because im getting the same battery life i did before the updated (while rooted and getting rid of bloatware) ) but im wondering that maybe still having t-mobiles bloatware is not letting me experience the improvments but when i called lg recently they said that the update should have fixed my problem with battery life so im also thinking maybe its not the os but some other issue on the phone or the battery itself so do you think i should just send lg my phone so they can check it now so i dont have to unroot it and more later ? (however i didnt purchase it a lg retailer i bought on craigslist is that a problem? )

[Q] Phone is Lagging and Overheating Constantly - Want to Install Custom Rom - Which?

Hi there,
I am sort of new to rooting and have never installed a custom android operating system or ROM yet. I would like to put on something with Android 5.0 if possible, but if none are out yet, which is the best ROM to put on my LG G3, and a tutorial to do it?
I want to use all of the eatures of the phon still as well.
Are there lollipop ROMS out yet for this phone, and if not should I wait for it?
Thank for your help.

I too am using Cloudy and find that the top half of the phone doesn't heat up as much. There's an eco mode you can turn on as well. Not sure it that's what's going the trick, but I've kept it on because the battery life is great now.
As for the lag, have you tried flashing Pure Performance X? It's made all the ROMs I've tried snappier (including Cloudy).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...s/mod-pureperformancesx-zeno-edition-t2360985
I'm using Viper for my third day now. The first day the battery drained really fast as google processes was raelly active, but the last two days ive gotten over 4 hours of screen on time easily and it's definitely been an improvement over stock for me. I havent played any games but phone did not get hot watching youtube vids.
I am not familiary with pure performance X, looks interesting though.

Why is there so much hype towards ROMs and kernels?

Hi all
i had my OPO for 2 months now
and i decided to root my phone and try some custom ROMs and kernels since they're so popular , so last month i rooted my phone and take a spin on those famous ROMs and kernels ( partly is also the touchscreen issue and random reboots are driving me nuts ) i won't specify what ROM or kernel i am using though
first impressions when i had a new ROMs is that , there's nothing much that is different i though things would be faster snappier with a new kernel built in but ...my OPO did not , my phone did get more stable but it did suffer from multigesture issue once and force rebooted 3 times in the span of 1 month , but the biggest issue is that my phone keeps getting systemui has stopped working , multitasking button gets bugged one too many times , wallpapers constantly missing when i unlock my phone and animations are very clunky
so yesterday i decided to go back to stock just to remind myself how stock feels , using NANdroid backup i restored everything and...
stock 44s feels so much better compared to custom ROMs which begs the question
why do people deviate from stock ROM on OPO ? stock cm is pretty sweet , I understand rooting the phone to get xposed etc but custom ROMs just don't feel right on the OPO ...so is it just me ?
still props to all the devs out there , no offense just my 2 cents
I think if varies for the phones and locations, but I was getting some pretty beastly battery life, smooth/fast experience with vanir and Franco. For some reason I just didn't like stock and was not getting as great battery life. I've tried many things and some are good, but there are better (to me at least). I'm just running Lollipop now and can't seem to go back to kk.
It all comes down to ones preference really...
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
wait , isn't cm12 for OPO currently a little unstable? i really wanted to give it a shot but i fear that it is too unstable for a daily driver
Working fine for me; I don't think it is to the point where it can't be a daily driver. I'm really liking it so far, the Lollipop experience feels really nice and smooth.
Check comments from others on the threads to see the kind of issues they're having. Devs are doing daily builds so as days pass it gets better and better.

Sounds like you didn't do any kernel configurations at all to experience changes.
On AK, with Synapse and UKM, you can change numerical values to configure how the phone handles processes. Default kernel settings aren't optimum for every phone.
My settings consist of: slim (300-2457), CPU boost driver (10ms, 1574MHz, 30ms, 1190MHz), CPU Volt (-35mV), I/O sio @ 1536KB read ahead, drop caches, laptop mode, Vibrator at 25, Fast Charge at 1500mA, C1 (Retention) disabled, 120 second Wifi Scan interval.
With those settings, it makes a HUGE difference compared to stock, as well as fix bugs (screen artifact/tearing) before they were fixed on the latest firmware, and increases battery life by 1.5 times stock.

I have the same questioning but without any problems that you had/have/ My phone works perfectly ( crossing fingers ) and i've had it since July. I always used to ROM my S3-S4-S5 to get a new feel of the phone, but with the Oppo i don't see the reason to. Maybe it's because CM is pretty near pure stock Android, and that's what we get when we switch ROMs on big brands.

OP, it is not just you. Folks who mess about with custom ROMS, as the other posts here share, do so because they can customize the total phone experience, leaving things off, and putting other items on, to their liking. Giving that the background OS is stable, and the apps a person selects are stable, there should be little to no difference in 'performance', overall, due to the apps. However, you may get performance differences because there are less TSR's currently running in your system, so more memory is available, etc, which can make mainline apps run faster.
So many reasons to do custom apps.
As you said, and I agree, CM is a nice, generally smooth OS/ROM. I am coming from an LG G3, which I like very much, but to customize (remove all the junk), and fine tune (remove Google calling home = less battery live, etc), it take's some time to setup those conditions. With CM, most of the junk is not present at the onset (AT&T largely). Much more clean. I would like Google to be disassociated from CM completely, so that it is an add on only, providing better control of the base CM. I would like this in an official CM ROM/official variation.
That is the reason I have/am switching over to the OnePlus. I have tried a few custom ROMs as well, and the stock CM seems to have the best stability, reliability and consistency, to date. I suspect that will change when a large update comes out, such as L, and a great amount of energy goes into that development. I just changed from 38 to 44 last night on three OPO's. It took 5 minutes, or so, a piece, and all of the data/previous apps, setup etc, stayed with the updates, making for an all too easy update.
Awesome. Next will be "L". I will wait for the CM official, as that will likely be the most stable, as I suspect it is getting the most attention from the CM team, at this time. CM is a pretty nice OS.

Regarding official updates

Hi.
It's been 2 months that I have used my one plus one and I still have the original/vanilla build 22R.
Now I'm curious is it worth to update to the newer versions? I have heard so much bad feedback regarding battery life and other bugs.
What are the pro's and con's?
Right now I'm enjoying 3 days battery life, 5h screen time. But microphone gain for videos is bad also for sound recording. WiFi and the antenna for RF seems to be buggy and not working properly.
Thanks in advance,
Zekenka

Just update. Updates are good. Don't listen too much the blaming people cause a lot of them just confuse themselves by doing tests right after the update.
I agree with the previous poster, update your phone, don't worry about the negative Nellies, it's usually user error anyway.

Make sure you do the updates in order, or just flash the complete 44s ROM that you can find also (use search, stock rooted 44s).
Personally I would just flash the complete ROM and skip the incrementals lol

What about the battery life etc? I have heard like terrible stories(ofcourse myabe their nellies) but i kinda like the long one right now and I doubt there will be possibility to rollback unless i unlock my bootloader and install TWRP/CWM .
Battery life is good for me and others I've seen. It is possible to go back to old versions but like you said it requires unlocked boot loader and custom recovery probably. Why don't u want to unlock it?
Most battery problems are caused by wake locks. There's a thread in general by timmaaa called play services battery fix if you have issues. If your phone works good as is and don't care about upgrading then don't lol it's not a requirement. If you have bugs then it's probably fixed in the upgrades. Just don't blame us if you do upgrade though

Would unlocking bootloader cause any stuff related to wakelocks? Right now It is perfect 0 drain over night and no terrible wakelocks,
I remember with daily SGS2 build there were terrible wakelocks with up to 20% drain over night
Unlocking bootloader won't do that. Updating or flashing ROM might, no guarantees. My experience is good with latest update, some others have problems most I would say don't. It's your phone and your choice what to do with it lol.
Just update, dont ask to much. Phone is working great on 44S. You will see when you update, battery life is great for me.

Slow performance annoyance

Hello I am new here using my F8332 on nougat .374(latest stock no root LB). But after boot up. It seems slow even after a long time. I don't have any powersaving on. But when I go to stamina mode, turn it on and off again, it becomes smooth and nolonger have slow down or limit fps when interacting. Is It just me or this is a software issue? Thanks.
i hope its a software couse my XZ is also laggy from the begining so ill try some other roms from diferent regions to see if it goes away.im very disapointed atm because i came from xperia Z,Z2,Z5 and they worked like a charm...
Yes sony is really weak at software. Been using z1,z3 & z5 and after the two nougat update it is still not stable in terms of speed.
Since .417 firmware I can say the xz is now running very smooth indeed.
A definite performance and usability enhancement has been achieved since launch through to the .417 fw.
Very much happier with the phones user experience specifically with the newest fw.
Agree before .417 there were certainly some slowdowns on interaction, however no longer.
Enjoy
i had nordic .417 firmware and it started to lag a lot even after reboot so i got mad cuz im alergic to lags and stutters so i decided to give a try with another firmware and i found that firmware for my country just came so i went for it and now phone works like it should...really dont know why it made the diference but it did ...thats the point. So for now im cool.
