Wifi Codes for Android 4+
What I'm Doin?
This application allows you to change your phone's wifi country code ( which is set by your simcard ), to be able to see wifi networks on all channels. This application also helps people who can't see any wireless networks while the simcard is in their phone ( like me ) which is again caused by the bad country code.
What I Need?
1.You have to be rooted.
2.Anything else?
Ok cool, How To Get?
You can get the application .apk from here : http://d-h.st/bi2
I will be uploading the application on the market by the time the beta period is over and I'm sure that it works fine on every phone.
Ok gotcha, How To Use?
1. First make sure that wifi is on. ( will be fixed in next releases )
2. Open the application, and put in your desired country code to fly to!
3. You can see 2 main country codes which are already there for you, feel free to use them if they meet your needs!
4. Click `Change It`.
5. Now if it's the first time you are running this application, you will be asked for root permissions. Grant Please!
6. Now If everything goes well you will see a message which says that the country code is changed.
7. Go on and turn off your wifi and turn it back on.
8. You will see all the networks showing up.
Note:You don't have to do this every time the phone boots up... This only needs to be done once. Unless you factory reset your phone.
I can't see any wireless networks
It is caused by new android 4 roms arriving to the devices ( mainly htc phones ) which use some carrier and country specific files to set Wifi Regulatory Domain options ( which was present in wifi settings until android 2.3, but been removed from android 4 and later roms ). If your country code seems unknown to android system, then it fails to set right options and it fails to intiate wireless scan.
To solve this all you need to do is to change your country code manually to a known one, so that android system can determine what channels it should scan for networks.

Hey
I just want to say thank you. I have been faced with this problem and it has been driving me bonkers. I've been trying to run scripts to fix, have tried wifix and others .. File permissions on wps_supplicant. All no luck
But your app here seems to be working. No more reboots and wifi has locked on for half an hour. Looking very positive
Thanks again
WiFi
Well might as well give it a whirl and see. Will let you know my findings and recommendations
MAC address
Does this country code change affect the MAC address on my device ? I have applications that are sensitive to the MAC address and if this address is changed, it will cease to work. Otherwise, I want to try this ASAP. I also noticed that some of the wireless networks will be seen in the discovery, but I cannot connect to those. Can this country setting change fix my problem ?
Thanks
can't open the app with cm10 :/ downloaded it three times but it never worked...
Awesome
awesome job mate!!!and by the way can i juzt enter my country name or is there any specific code for each country pls list the countries and their codes..
no US?
Kudos!
Works Perfectly on the AT&T Motorola Atrix HD running stock ICS rooted.
ADHOC ?
will it show adhoc network also ?
it works !!
Thank you very much for the app and your information. :victory:
Helped me to run SlimBean3.0 using wifi channel 13 in Germany. Maybe there is something wrong with my simcard - but whatever, your little app made my day.
Will this be of any use to someone in the USA who doesn't travel outside the USA? Will the app enable ALL possible channels? Or is it useful mainly for people in a country who get a ROM which isn't properly coded for the channels in their particular country?
I'm not having any problems finding Wifi signal with the stock AT&T ROM, so far as I know. But if there are any wifi channels available out there in the USA that are not currently enabled by the stock ROM, this might be useful to me, if only to see them.
?
I've had a heck of a time trying to get wifi to stick on a sd card install of cm10 on my nook color,ya'll think this might help but i dont see any way to install app cause i cant get pass greyed out wifi and cant sign into google and no internet..thanks..
Thanks for this wonderful utility. Will be better if the app can display current setup.
Thanks again!
Thank you very much for the app

No, It doesn't have anything to do with your wlan MAC Address, It just changes the country code. So It is safe to use in your case.
P.S: Sorry for the late reply.

I think it can be almost any country code.. ( It has to be 2 upper-case letters.) ie. JP = Japan, EU = Europe, US = United Status, DE = Germany, UK = United Kingdom, ...
no US?

It does work with US. However setting to US, will enable channels from 1-11.
Hi,
my Sony Xperia Z3's Carbon Rom acts strangely since some Weeks.
It automatically logs into the guest spot of my WLAN with the correct password
and a second device-ID.
I can log it into my main spot and also guest spot with no problem, but this second "device" always shows up.
And it's always using the same WLAN frequency as the "first" device.
It obviously does nothing than acknowlegding the router it is there, and seems to swap ACK's with it regularly, but any data transfer is handled through the "main" device.
As I'm trying to find a solution to pinpoint an attacker, I have not reflashed the device yet.
I find no information anywhere about an android RAT that is producing this sideeffect.
And even no info if it can be a bug of this custom rom.
Does anyone know what this can be?
Hi!
Have had the Pro version for a while. It connects to my home mesh network without a problem. Asus XT8 (WIFI6). Works great!
At my work they also use a WIFI6 mesh network, delivered by Cisco I think. But I cannot get the tablet to connect. It doesn't even try to authenticate. My Pixel 5 connects no problem, also countless other devices, Samsung's, Apple's, etc. But my P11 Pro doesn't even want to authenticate. I've tried to reset the tablet, but didn't fix anything. It connected once and that was the very first time it connected to the work network. I've tried to use QR code from a device that has connection, no avail.
I've tried talking to my administrator, but to no help. My device, not their problem... And yeah, it most defiantly seems to be my device that has a problem. I found out they use WPA3 key (or at least has the option enabled), could that be the problem? At home and other networks I can connect to I belive is only using WPA2 key.
Android 10 is compatible with WPA3.
Have you tried "Forgetting" the SSID and trying to connect again?
Does the administrator have MAC address blocking on the router?
Thank you for answering.
I've tried deleting the SSID information from the tablet, but it doesn't rectify the problem. Same result, says "connecting..." under the SSID and the nothing.
I'll ask if they can check if the MAC been blocked! But, in WIFI options the MAC "spoofing"/randomizer in Android is enabled for this network
Try your MAC hardware address rather than random if you can. You'll be presenting to the router with different MAC addresses every time you connect and if they do have MAC address blocking then you'll be blocked.
I'm grasping at straws to be honest
Did you bought the Chinese version with global rom? because I bought it, and i was having problems with the wifi, I found out it was only with the 5 ghz network, it only connected to the Chinese allowed bands. The only solution I found was with magisk changing the props where the wifi region is located, but then you loose widevine L1.

I've talked to admin, they told me there's no special MAC ban. It's also NOT WIFI6 as I thought earlier, but 5, and WPA2-PSK. Same as home I believe.

No, this one is bought from Lenovo's website (DigitalRiver), based in EU where I live (Norway). One of the reasons I bought it was widewine L1 support XD.

I see no reason why it should misbehave then - strange.
Well, even then you can check if the wifi region is correct, you can go to the recovery and select "view recovery logs" and check the following props "ro.product.countrycode" and "ro.boot.wificountrycode" if any of this says "CN" then is the region wrong and the culprit is the lenovo oficial ROW rom.
ro.product.countrycode=SE
ro.boot.wificountrycode=SE
I think this would be correct as SE would correspond to Sweden. Norway and Sweden are neighbouring countries and I see often that many manufacturers doesn't have Norway as an option, but Sweden is listed (and Denmark...)
Or should I contact customer support and ask if I should have recieved one that says NO in these entries?
Well looks ok, you can use an app like wifi analyzer to see what channel is your work network, and if your tablet see it, if your tablet cannot see it, maybe they are using a forbidden channel (for example here in Spain you cannot use the 14 channel on 2.4 ghz network, but i found that some routers use it anyway), in case that the tablet find the network it can be a rom related problem. I doubt is hardware related because you said the connection is fine on your house and you can connect one time at your work. Anyway is not a bad idea contacting Lenovo customer support with the connection parameters.
It can see the network just give. In android and in Wifi analyzer app. Doesn't use any forbidden channels afaik.
Yeah, I probably should contact Lenovo.
Thank you for your help
Update:
Was in contact with Lenovo Technical Support. They hadn't heard about this issue before (OFC). But they recommended I do a what he called "hard hard reset" using Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant as the reset I've done is what he called a soft reset, using the factory reset in Android (not recovery).
So I'll try that and see if that helps.
I also asked about the countrycode beeing Sweden, I was told it is that for all Scandianvian countries.
Hello.
I have the exact same issue as BFalck. With the wifi in my home I have no problem while with the wifi at work I can't connect in any way. The network is seen and saved but the connection fails. I must say, however, that my unit is the Chinese one with the European Rom of Lenovo. BFalck let me know if with the "hard hard reset" you can solve. Thank you

Sorry to say, the hard reset didn't solve my problem.
Do you know which router/access point you're having trouble with? My job use Cisco air-ap2802i-e-k9.

I'm sorry but I don't know this detail. It is very likely that a Cisco device is being used, however. My company provides many wifi networks and the tablet connects to all but not the one that reaches my office...
So I had one of the administrators on site a couple of days ago. We've tried to error check the wlan. In the logs of the AP's the Lenovo tablet doesn't seem to even register trying to connect to the network. That confirms my suspicion there's something wrong with the WiFi in the tablet. Some kind of incompatibility with some devices.
I'll be attaching a image of the label of the AP's we're using.
I have this issue too.
My Xiaoxin Pad Pro ( installed with the Lenovo Pad P11 Pro ROM ) will not connect to my wifi 6 (ax) enabled router on the 5 GHz frequency for use with wifi 5 (ac), only connetcs to 2.4 GHz.
Really annoying. And I cannot disable the wifi 6 function to test connecting to ac-only.
Some backwards compatibility problems, perhaps. Or region specific configurations.
No issues to connect to 5 GHz using my old Netgear r6300v2 (ac-enabled).
Anyone able to connect to a WiFi 6 network?
Yes, no problem connecting to my XT8 mesh at home running W6. Workplace only has W5.
I managed to get it to work by changing the pre-selected channel option from ISP.
I had to find a way to bypass the locked option in the webUi in the router. (Praise the internet)
My ISP had pre-selected a higher channel range (B-range with DFS) and my P11 did not work with that.
The only other option was "without DFS" and that is only available in the lower A-range (channel 36, 40, 44, 48)
Hope this can help someone!
I can confirm as per previous forum member that this tablet cannot work with 5ghz control channels out of the A-RANGE. It is easy if the router is at home to be changed. At least in ASUS router. Maybe caused by CN wifi profile.aside from that I thinks this tablet is just perfect.
Finally my Xiaoxin Pad Pro got an upgrade to Android 11. It took a while, everything seems fine, apart from one strange thing: The "hardware"/wifi MAC address was somehow changed during the process. I discovered this after the tab wouldn't connect to my wifi anymore (I utilize MAC whitelist there).
If I go to Settings / System / About tablet ... the "WLAN MAC address" listed there is OK, as before.
If I go to Settings / Network & Internet / WLAN ... the "Device MAC address" listed there (for the two saved wifi connections) is something completely different (i.e. totally different range as well).
I tried rebooting, shutting down, turning "private MAC" on and off again... the "new" MAC remains the same.
Querying the MAC's online -- the actual ("old") wifi belongs to

Has anyone else also encountered this after the upgrade (on either Xiaoxin Pad Pro or P11 Pro version)?
I've looked around and found a few other cases (Nokia and OnePlus):

Device MAC address changed after android 10 stable update
After upgrading to OxygenOS 10.3.0 stable update I have noticed that the "device MAC" address has changed compared to what it was originally from the factory. I have verified this with the MAC address on the box the phone came in. I get this...
forum.xda-developers.com
But nothing conclusive as to how & why it happened in the first place, and how to fix it. At least the MAC is "stable" and all I had to do was replace it on the router's whitelist.
Exactly same issue here. The MAC address on my Lenovo P11 changed after upgrade to Android 11.
The new MAC is stable and does not seem to cause any other issues.
I did however have the known problem of screen turning itself on randomly whilst in sleep mode.
This is the worst tablet I have had! Full of bloatware and no third party OS for it.
