Wifi Codes for Android 4+
What I'm Doin?
This application allows you to change your phone's wifi country code ( which is set by your simcard ), to be able to see wifi networks on all channels. This application also helps people who can't see any wireless networks while the simcard is in their phone ( like me ) which is again caused by the bad country code.
What I Need?
1.You have to be rooted.
2.Anything else?
Ok cool, How To Get?
You can get the application .apk from here : http://d-h.st/bi2
I will be uploading the application on the market by the time the beta period is over and I'm sure that it works fine on every phone.
Ok gotcha, How To Use?
1. First make sure that wifi is on. ( will be fixed in next releases )
2. Open the application, and put in your desired country code to fly to!
3. You can see 2 main country codes which are already there for you, feel free to use them if they meet your needs!
4. Click `Change It`.
5. Now if it's the first time you are running this application, you will be asked for root permissions. Grant Please!
6. Now If everything goes well you will see a message which says that the country code is changed.
7. Go on and turn off your wifi and turn it back on.
8. You will see all the networks showing up.
Note:You don't have to do this every time the phone boots up... This only needs to be done once. Unless you factory reset your phone.
I can't see any wireless networks
It is caused by new android 4 roms arriving to the devices ( mainly htc phones ) which use some carrier and country specific files to set Wifi Regulatory Domain options ( which was present in wifi settings until android 2.3, but been removed from android 4 and later roms ). If your country code seems unknown to android system, then it fails to set right options and it fails to intiate wireless scan.
To solve this all you need to do is to change your country code manually to a known one, so that android system can determine what channels it should scan for networks.

Hey
I just want to say thank you. I have been faced with this problem and it has been driving me bonkers. I've been trying to run scripts to fix, have tried wifix and others .. File permissions on wps_supplicant. All no luck
But your app here seems to be working. No more reboots and wifi has locked on for half an hour. Looking very positive
Thanks again

Well might as well give it a whirl and see. Will let you know my findings and recommendations
MAC address
Does this country code change affect the MAC address on my device ? I have applications that are sensitive to the MAC address and if this address is changed, it will cease to work. Otherwise, I want to try this ASAP. I also noticed that some of the wireless networks will be seen in the discovery, but I cannot connect to those. Can this country setting change fix my problem ?
Thanks
can't open the app with cm10 :/ downloaded it three times but it never worked...
Awesome
awesome job mate!!!and by the way can i juzt enter my country name or is there any specific code for each country pls list the countries and their codes..
no US?
Kudos!
Works Perfectly on the AT&T Motorola Atrix HD running stock ICS rooted.
ADHOC ?
will it show adhoc network also ?
it works !!
Thank you very much for the app and your information. :victory:
Helped me to run SlimBean3.0 using wifi channel 13 in Germany. Maybe there is something wrong with my simcard - but whatever, your little app made my day.
Will this be of any use to someone in the USA who doesn't travel outside the USA? Will the app enable ALL possible channels? Or is it useful mainly for people in a country who get a ROM which isn't properly coded for the channels in their particular country?
I'm not having any problems finding Wifi signal with the stock AT&T ROM, so far as I know. But if there are any wifi channels available out there in the USA that are not currently enabled by the stock ROM, this might be useful to me, if only to see them.
?
I've had a heck of a time trying to get wifi to stick on a sd card install of cm10 on my nook color,ya'll think this might help but i dont see any way to install app cause i cant get pass greyed out wifi and cant sign into google and no internet..thanks..
Thanks for this wonderful utility. Will be better if the app can display current setup.
Thanks again!
Thank you very much for the app
Thank you very much for the app
Does not work with my HP Touchpad running CM9, works on my Samsung Galaxy S2

No, It doesn't have anything to do with your wlan MAC Address, It just changes the country code. So It is safe to use in your case.
P.S: Sorry for the late reply.

I think it can be almost any country code.. ( It has to be 2 upper-case letters.) ie. JP = Japan, EU = Europe, US = United Status, DE = Germany, UK = United Kingdom, ...
no US?

It does work with US. However setting to US, will enable channels from 1-11.

Hi there,
I was wondering if there is any app at that allows the cracking of a WiFi network that is secured with a WEP password?
Thanks in advance!
PS: Before any of you start wondering, I'm not using it for illegal purposes. If I wanted to do that, I would just use a laptop. Thanks.
No response?
WEP cracking apps need compatible wifi drivers as well as code that supports the processor architecture.
WEP cracking can be done cheap on a PC.

Yes, but I'm looking for a way to do it on my Android phone Is there any way that exists at this moment?
I think the closes you'll get right now is the app named
'Penetrate'
Its in the market.
It calculates the default password for a wifi network.
Some networks dont work.
But this gave me free wifi in a number of times
can not be done because the driver does not support monitor mode, to my knowledge.

Actually Penetrate is done by a portuguese guy and supports mostly european routers like thomson and dlink, i already accessed a lot of thomson networks
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
And there is no other way?
Android is based on a Linux-kernel, but that doesn't mean it can run Linux-applications like aircrack-ng without changing anything. You can use the Penetrate app in Belgium however, there are quite a lot of Thompson SpeedTouch modems (Tele2) here that can be cracked using that app.
It doesnt really crack the password eh?
It just sees where people were too lazy to change the default password.
Today I was at a spot with 12 different internet spots (my friends home), and went to try if I could acces my friends internet. Not even one of the 12 (including the WEP based of my friend) was able to be calculated with Penetrate ..

Exactly, it uses an algorithm to generate the default pass. So if the user has changed it then it won't work. The old BTHomehubs were caught by this too but they released an update to fix it
penetrate doesn't seem to work with us routers....tried at several different locations today and none could be cracked
If you say you are trying to crack a network legally, you cant be serious. If you dont know the password to a network, go to the router and reset it. If you do not own the router, then it's illegal to try and crack it.

Life is sooo boring doing only legal stuff...
afaik there's no wep cracker availl yet, only shark had been done so far...
You can also try Router Keygen, basically the same thing but open source.
Although it supports more networks and has more features for free.

Not that you want to read the pages, but at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508871 a bunch of guys are working on something like this for the G1 (and probably similar phones).
That's my 2 cents...

Hello. My phone connects when I go to other people's houses or at school, but not at my house. My router is set up with a WiFi access list so that you need to enter the MAC address before being allowed to even see the network. I have triple checked that the WiFi MAC address from my phone is entered correctly as I did everything else. Does anyone have some advice?
I appreciate everyone's time!
Make sure the channel is set to one which your device supports.
I downloaded an app called wifi analyzer; will that help me find which channel to set it to? How do I know which are supported.

Go to the wifi settings (on your device) and see what channel it is set to (usually under regulatory domain).
maybe you should set the maximum number of channels, otherwise some routers might be excluded.
controls which channel is your router and then try to configure the connection manually.
Sorry for the late reply; I have been pretty busy.
I tried a variety of different channels but none of them seem to work. I had seen that the phone does not work on Channel 13 but that did not seem to be the problem. I have also tried changing the security password type on my router but that did not work either. Are there any other suggestions? Thank you again.
your router is wireless network is to advanced for phone allow you network to be seen and just have to enter a password to work it will work been there

I'm assuming you did... but just in case, you did hit the "Wifi Protected Setup" on the phone right?
I swear i'm not trying to make you sound like an idiot, but we all have our "oh damn i forgot about that" moments, know what i mean? lol
Lol no problem. But yes I did do that
i'm also assuming then that you took ALL security off your network, leaving it open with no password, and that didnt work either.
past that, I don't know what to tell you. some routers are better than others.... maybe yours just hates you?
Hi everybody,
I have a little problem with Tellme when I'm on cellular network. I cannot dictate messages anymore when I'm not under wifi.
I can surf the web without problems and even apps from marketplace are working flawlessly, only that function is not working.
Is it possible that my carrier is blocking the port where the requests are redirected?
Thanks for any help
Alex
P.S.: my cellphone is a Lumia 710 and my carrier is Vodafone IT
Interesting. I have kinda the opposite here. Under my work WiFi I cannot connect. I run the network and I can't see where the firewall is blocking it so I would also like to know what port uses.
on Nokia don't you have a network connection setup tool? Check Nokia in the marketplace and see if it fixes it.

Thanks for your reply!
I already tried with Nokia app, but nothing changed...
I'm meeting the same issue....happened since Mango. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21800758#post21800758
Works fine on wifi though. Troubleshooted with LG (phone) and StarHub (carrier), but no joy to date.
Do you know if your carrier is blocking some kind of traffic (for example voip)? Maybe the problem is related to this... Maybe the Tellme service relies on a port our respective carriers are blocking because they are usually used by some service they block for convenience (like the one Skype uses for voice)...
Today, for some reason, everything restarted to work again, apparently without intervention... I'm going to mantain it tested over the next days to see if something changes...
Thanks to all for the moment!

It seems I have found the real solution: the culprit is Network Configuration app from Nokia, but I also think that all network configuration apps are creating the same problem.
I saw with an app that I had 2 connections configured and obiviously the one that has priority is the one written nobody knows where by the app, instead of using the right one I manually configured.
So I started the app again and I used a wrong carrier. The wrong connection has changed, but this time is disconnected so now I am sure the one used is the one configured by me.
Now everything seems to work for real, I'm obviously going to mantain it monitored. Hope this is going to be of any help!

Hello Everyone,
I recently upgraded to CM 12.1 and discovered that my WiFi won't automatically connect to my router anymore if it doesn't detect access to the internet (I'm in China and Google is Blocked). I believe this explains why this is happening as there is internet and having to manually connect each time is annoying at least Is there a way to disable this "new feature" ?
Regards,
Bob
In Settings, got to WiFi, press the menu button in the top right and there should be an Advanced settings section or something similar (sometimes varies based on ROM/Language). Then untick the Avoid poor connection option. This should resolve your problem. If not, you may not have the correct firmware for 5.1.1
I already have Avoid poor connections unchecked. Any other way to fix this?
Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Try disable mobile data before connect to wifi, maybe this way should help

I have the EXACT same problem - it really does happen because you're in China and the method of internet access testing is through Google servers blocked in here.
I'm still trying to figure out how to disable the test or maybe reroute the destination.
It would definitely be a temporary solution to make the VPN active 24/7 if you put it on the router instead of on the phone / computer etc.
Let us know if you find a solution!

this was a very popular and general problem for every Chinese user with google service device.
you have to root your phone and manually change the google server address to a local substitute site, or just turn off the google server detect.
the easiest way is to use an APK developed by Chinese to have all these things done in a click.
search NoExclamation Portal Server 1.5

came here with a google search. this problem is generic to later android versions. i'm on cyanogenmod 12.1 which is i gather is android 5.1.
looking at DNS logs, it tries to access: http://connectivitycheck.android.com - which redirects to google and fails as it's blocked by the GFW.
just downloading the chinese apk to fix it... the link to it i found is: http://m.hiapphere.com/apk-org.foxteam.noisyfox.noexclamation
EDIT: so now got noexclamation the app running, but not sure it's doing anything. UI is in chinese, not sure what options to deal with and how. anyone have success with it?
EDIT2: it's like this: install the app. leave it at defaults where it's using the developers website for connectivity check. toggle it ON if it's not already (i believe needs root). reset network settings by toggling airline mode ON/OFFl. you're good.
however - conceptually better fix would is to take the "feature" OUT, not alter the server that it's checking the accessibility of. from the chinese thread, i gather this will get done by:
su
settings put global captive_portal_detection_enabled 0
this seems to survive reboot as well. problem solved, end of monologue!
