I was looking through the firmware for the phone and found the configuration for all the CA combos. Posting this in case it helps people looking to see if they will get maximum throughput from their device. This was from firmware OPM1.170911.254.

I want to ask why this CA list didn't listed 4CA combination?
Because this is the only phone that I can't found in global market that support B42 for NTT docomo, I'm going to choose a phone to be my WiFi hotspot in Japan.
Thanks for your reply.

This phone has 835 in it.
So the phone supports Cat.16 4CA, but I didn't see any combined 4 different / same bands to get it.
Not every 835 based phone supports 4CA.
4CA requires extra RF FE hardware (amplifiers + antenna), so some manufacturers decided to save on BOM and stick with 3CA.

it works across all networks in Canada/USA, it shows you if you are in your home network or not
but in WIND it does even a step further they incorporated a quick menu to check your usage, and refill your account as in some other european & south america countries
A lot of the ones in the wiki/faq for other Galaxy S type phones work. I haven't ran through them all to test, though.

there are many of the codes for SGS that doesn't work on the SNS
i've not tried them all yet, just too many
i've only tried a few that i frequently used on the SGS
Does the one on the first post allow me to check the color, eg for dead pixels, I know *#0*# is for most Samsung, does this work for the sns, I'm about to buy one so I need to check it.
Thanks

HI,
I got a Nexus S and it is on the same Baseband and kernel version. These commands dont work!!
Also strange thing is, I am unable to calls or send SMSs and the GSM service says its Out of Service. BUT GPRS services work and I am able to browse the internet. I have absolutely no idea how this is possible.
ANy suggestions? My guess is the Service Domain in the Service mode is set to CS only. Need to change this to CS+PS. Since the USSD command (*#0011#) doesnt work, not sure what to do.
Please suggest.
Is there any hidden bands in our phones ? I was reading the processors specs and there's a few bands that don't show up on out phones specs . I was just wondering is there any hidden bands that are lock down by software ? Is so can we unlock them ? And how hard would it be ?
:good:
Hey m8,
I actual ran into the same problem with the LTE Bands.
Special the o2 Band 20 is the one i really want to unlock
because its the only band that o2 is using here in Germany.
I saw an Thread in the OnePlus section so there must be someone
around who can manage this on the OPPO

yeah since 1996, its an old MK2 and its not a diesel
I really got into reading the thread for about several hours and red it over and over again...
My concern about getting the whole thing done before doing any actual work is the HEX Register
where the Bands are stored... (snapdragon 615 compared to the one in the thread).
But we will see and maaaaybeeee OPPO (or CM?) will do an update which would
be awesome.

Yeah please let us know what you find out. In the meantime in the US if you are on T Mobile you can use the phone with full H+ speeds. I am consistently getting anywhere from 4 to 10 Mpbs. To stabilize the signal I went and downloaded this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.BBsRs.HSPAP.Tweaker and it works like a charm.
Spent the past 2 hours talking to T-Mobile and Sony technical support trying to get Volte working. Basically my xzp doesn't have an option to enable Volte. Maybe someone who flashed another firmware can verify they have Volte working on T-Mobile. There should be an option in settings, more, mobile settings, enable Volte.
You need Flash oem.sin from Customized US region firmware.
Trouble is, that this region is not available YET https://xpericheck.com/device/G8141

I bought the us version from Best buy my model number is G8142 (Dual SIM)
So this region firmware ? https://xpericheck.com/cda/1308-6041
Can you check what modem configuration you have loaded? To do this type this in dialer *#*#7378423#*#* then "Service Info" then "Software info". there should be row called Current modem Config: What does it read?
Ideally it should read amss_fsg_maple_dsds_tmobile_us_ims_tar
It does not say that, please see attachment @VeixES
I downloaded the Customized US firmware and extracted the oem*.sin file. This should include instructions for phone which modem config should be loaded with the provider.
But In the oem.sin i did not find such instructions to load amss_fsg_maple_dsds_tmobile_us_ims_tar
So it matches the behaviour you have on your phone, that the default modem config is loaded (as such no VOLTE).
Sony needs to update the Customized US region firmware, so correct config is loaded with TMOUS sim card.

No. CE1 has central european providers in the oem.sin file. Still does not know about US sim and what configuration to load.

Is it possible this is the reason I have shoddy 4G signal?
Also, in the field test menu, I see there's an option to provision VoLTE. Would turning this option on solve the issue of not having VoLTE?
Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
Signal quality does not depend on the firmware flashed.
Every region firmware has all bands enabled and no artifical power limits.
You need compare side by side signal quality in dB (not signal bars) on different phones. Also making sure they are on same frequency band.
I have XZ F8331 and XZP G8141 from UK, all flashed customized au's system.sin and customized us's oem.sin.
Them show the LTE+ on Tmobile US network, no VoLTE

I've reached out to both Sony and T-Mobile and neither of them have a clue. Sony says volte is carrier dependent and T-Mobile says if it's not supported in software there's nothing they can do. Not sure what to do at $846 tax included, this is a serious deal breaker.

Even with F8331 there is no required bits in oem.sin for VoLTE. So it seems North America is left out for cold regards VoLTE on XZ/XZ Premium.

Thanks so much for your help I truly appreciate it. I ended up returning the phone, maybe I'll repurchase down the line if the volte issue is fixed. In the past 2 weeks I've owned the xzp, htc u11 and currently using the OnePlus 5 and I have to say hands down the xzp was the best.

Off-topic, but can I ask why?
I currently have a OP5 and it's okay... contemplating picking up the U11 or XZP though. But with the XZP having ZERO U.S. carrier support, requiring foreign firmware for a working fingerprint sensor, and a terrible lens distortion design on the camera, along with poor low light performance, front speakers that aren't loud, and some people noticing a weird pattern in the display due to the chevron pixel design... I'm curious what it even manages to do well?

Don't believe the hype, you have to hold the xzp to appreciate it. While the speakers aren't as loud as the u11 it just sounds better and the way the phone resonates with bass is awesome. I didn't have any display issue and the camera was just fine granted I'm not a professional photographer. Only issue I had was wifi drop outs but disabling smart cleaner fixed it. The software is close to stock but has some very useful features, hands down the best phone for multimedia The music app is awesome and the screen is the best IPS LCD on the market.

I too would agree with HigherSensation. I feel as though all the posts regarding the issues are far too overblown. I'm no photographer so maybe I'm just missing it, but that's fine by me. I find it odd that all these people are complaining about the Camera and Display, and yet, not a single review I've read or watched has even mentioned these issues in passing. Right or wrong, I chalk it up to either these people having a very keen eye or very particular preferences when it comes to these issues. The only thing that does bother me is how the speakers aren't as loud as I think they should be, but the quality of sound is virtually unbeatable. I prefer this phone over my Huawei Mate 9 by a decent margin. There's a lot to like here and it's really nice to see Sony actually hit the mark for once.

I posted a few complaints up in the 24 hour impression thread. The camera distortion issue is a bit odd, but I've only noticed it when I took a picture of my keyboard.
I do wish the speakers were louder... but are you saying the quality of their sound is really good, or were you referring to headphone sound?
Despite its shortcomings I still really like this device... I also wish the camera were a bit better with processing, had full manual control, and RAW. Those things seem inexcusable.
WARNING: I DON'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT MAY OCCUR TO YOUR PHONE/ SIMS/SD CARDS OR ANY OTHER ACCESSORIES OR DEVICES. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
As the title suggests this is a guide to disable certain network bands (GSM/WCDMA/CDMA/LTE) that are not supported by your carrier. Theoretically it should help save battery as the phone won't search for those bands anymore. I'm currently testing this myself and will provide feedback too. The more users try this the better as more feedback will provide better insight to how much battery saving we can get by doing this (if any).
Pre-requisites:
1. The phone needs to be rooted.
2. A free app called Network signal Guru from play store. Link below :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qtrun.QuickTest
3. The bands that your carrier supports. Use Google/ wiki to search for your carrier and all the bands it supports.
Here it goes :
1. Install network signal guru and give it SU permissions.
2. The app will check for compatibility and download some "online configurations".
3. After the app opens click on the menu and select lock bands.
4. Click on the corresponding network and and UNTICK the bands that you found are NOT supported by your carrier. You might get a message saying that this might force the phone into a power cycle. Ignore it or just stop if you're "not interested now". ?
5. Do this for all the network types.
6. The phone might reconnect to the carrier (you'll notice by network icon in the status bar )
7. Exit the app if you want as these settings still stick if the app is not running.
That's it. You've successfully disabled the bands that you found are not supported by your carrier.
Currently I've tested it on MIUI 9.4.18 and should work on any ROM/ kernel as long as you do it right.
Notes:
1. The settings are removed after a reboot.
2. You might have extra options in the bands if you're using two carriers i.e dual SIM . The secondary carrier is marked by "extended" and the primary by "primary". Select the bands accordingly.
3. The LTE bands look to be "shared" by both the SIMs. So just select the bands of both the carriers if you're using LTE on both.
4. Try to give as much feedback as possible.
Kinda risky cause we have different network band usage and maybe "I'm in Philippines" I might screw something up but hey, I can restore it back. Worth a try I guess, thanks for the info.

It isn't risky at all. I've been doing this on many phones since a long time and never had any problem (unless you're really really unlucky ?.
If you're worried about "power cycle", it just means that the phone will restart and nothing else.
Edited.

Could you post a maybe timelime of your battery usage? Are you still using it on stock ROM?

Yep. Using it on MIUI EU 9.4.18.
I'll post a full battery timeline when I go through a full battery cycle.

The phone by default connects to the WiFi with better signal which more often will be the 2.4g. I see that you can't disable 2.4g on the router. I remember an app called smart WiFi selector and another app called WiFi 5 that can help you. Google them.

I don't think that you're using the same app as me. I've updated the op with the official play store link of the said app. Download from there.

The app needs /Dev/diag to communicate with the modem and some kernels disable it. That's why it won't work on those kernels and I can't do anything about. You can ask the Dev of the kernel to include it.

Hello everyone.
I'm a fresh owner of a Poco X3 Pro 8+256, EU version, up-to-date.
I have some questions and I hope someone can answer:
1. Reception is... deficient! I mean, using same operator, I have - in the same "almost blind spot", better signal with my old Huawei Mate 10 Lite rather with this. Does someone else noticed same? Is there any way to improve?
2. I miss my call recording. On my old one, stuck at Android 8, I used ACR. On this one ACR doesn't work. The only one, stupid proof, is BoldBeast Call Recorder. Do you have others to propose?
3. I don't dig much some of the default apps, like Dialer (it's stock Google Dialer) and others. Do you have some alternatives to default apps, but not requiring root?
4. Is there a cheatsheet to stuff to do before using the phone as a daily driver? Apart debloating...
5. Speaking of debloating, does it really change something in the experience? Is there a safe list for bloatware to uninstall?
6. Does this phone has the possibility of video output through USB-C? If so, how to do it?
7. Is there a list of codes to try for this phone?
Thank you in advance for taking time to read this and to reply.

Some can use alternative, some cannot change without root.

Can be used as daily driver as is. Everything depend on what you want to use.

It does to some point, for battery preservation and less ads.
XiaomiADBFastbootTools (Java)

The apps listed in the program are consider safe to remove. In case anything went wrong, you can re-install them back.
Some apps will still broke some functions if you debloat it. Try and error.

Simply, by seeing that I have no signal with X3 Pro while with the Mate 10 Lite I was having two bars of signal and 4G internet connection.

Some codes like factory/hidden menu,, disabling/enabling functions and so on. You know, codes to digit from the Dialer.

Change the 4G band of both phone to be using the same band to check if the signal is really not working.
4G signals have different bands. Different phones have different bands using. And even same model phones, in different countries, they have different bands.
If you buy Redmi K40 (from China), you may have signal problem in the US. Poco F3 (Global) has better signal coverage compare to Redmi K40 outside China. Even if Redmi K40 has same spec as Poco F3, it still has this problem.
Use NetMonster app to check what bands using.
