Spent the past 2 hours talking to T-Mobile and Sony technical support trying to get Volte working. Basically my xzp doesn't have an option to enable Volte. Maybe someone who flashed another firmware can verify they have Volte working on T-Mobile. There should be an option in settings, more, mobile settings, enable Volte.
You need Flash oem.sin from Customized US region firmware.
Trouble is, that this region is not available YET https://xpericheck.com/device/G8141
Wait and see if it appears.

I bought the us version from Best buy my model number is G8142 (Dual SIM)
So this region firmware ? https://xpericheck.com/cda/1308-6041
Can you check what modem configuration you have loaded? To do this type this in dialer *#*#7378423#*#* then "Service Info" then "Software info". there should be row called Current modem Config: What does it read?
Ideally it should read amss_fsg_maple_dsds_tmobile_us_ims_tar
It does not say that, please see attachment @VeixES
I downloaded the Customized US firmware and extracted the oem*.sin file. This should include instructions for phone which modem config should be loaded with the provider.
But In the oem.sin i did not find such instructions to load amss_fsg_maple_dsds_tmobile_us_ims_tar
So it matches the behaviour you have on your phone, that the default modem config is loaded (as such no VOLTE).
Sony needs to update the Customized US region firmware, so correct config is loaded with TMOUS sim card.

Do you think if I flashing the CE firmware it'll have the settings to enable Volte on T-Mobile?
No. CE1 has central european providers in the oem.sin file. Still does not know about US sim and what configuration to load.

Is it possible this is the reason I have shoddy 4G signal?
Also, in the field test menu, I see there's an option to provision VoLTE. Would turning this option on solve the issue of not having VoLTE?
Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
Signal quality does not depend on the firmware flashed.
Every region firmware has all bands enabled and no artifical power limits.
You need compare side by side signal quality in dB (not signal bars) on different phones. Also making sure they are on same frequency band.
I have XZ F8331 and XZP G8141 from UK, all flashed customized au's system.sin and customized us's oem.sin.
Them show the LTE+ on Tmobile US network, no VoLTE
Sent from my Sony G8141 using XDA Labs
I've reached out to both Sony and T-Mobile and neither of them have a clue. Sony says volte is carrier dependent and T-Mobile says if it's not supported in software there's nothing they can do. Not sure what to do at $846 tax included, this is a serious deal breaker.

Even with F8331 there is no required bits in oem.sin for VoLTE. So it seems North America is left out for cold regards VoLTE on XZ/XZ Premium.

Thanks so much for your help I truly appreciate it. I ended up returning the phone, maybe I'll repurchase down the line if the volte issue is fixed. In the past 2 weeks I've owned the xzp, htc u11 and currently using the OnePlus 5 and I have to say hands down the xzp was the best.

Off-topic, but can I ask why?
I currently have a OP5 and it's okay... contemplating picking up the U11 or XZP though. But with the XZP having ZERO U.S. carrier support, requiring foreign firmware for a working fingerprint sensor, and a terrible lens distortion design on the camera, along with poor low light performance, front speakers that aren't loud, and some people noticing a weird pattern in the display due to the chevron pixel design... I'm curious what it even manages to do well?

Don't believe the hype, you have to hold the xzp to appreciate it. While the speakers aren't as loud as the u11 it just sounds better and the way the phone resonates with bass is awesome. I didn't have any display issue and the camera was just fine granted I'm not a professional photographer. Only issue I had was wifi drop outs but disabling smart cleaner fixed it. The software is close to stock but has some very useful features, hands down the best phone for multimedia The music app is awesome and the screen is the best IPS LCD on the market.

I too would agree with HigherSensation. I feel as though all the posts regarding the issues are far too overblown. I'm no photographer so maybe I'm just missing it, but that's fine by me. I find it odd that all these people are complaining about the Camera and Display, and yet, not a single review I've read or watched has even mentioned these issues in passing. Right or wrong, I chalk it up to either these people having a very keen eye or very particular preferences when it comes to these issues. The only thing that does bother me is how the speakers aren't as loud as I think they should be, but the quality of sound is virtually unbeatable. I prefer this phone over my Huawei Mate 9 by a decent margin. There's a lot to like here and it's really nice to see Sony actually hit the mark for once.

I posted a few complaints up in the 24 hour impression thread. The camera distortion issue is a bit odd, but I've only noticed it when I took a picture of my keyboard.
I do wish the speakers were louder... but are you saying the quality of their sound is really good, or were you referring to headphone sound?
Despite its shortcomings I still really like this device... I also wish the camera were a bit better with processing, had full manual control, and RAW. Those things seem inexcusable.

For further issues please specify more details such as model no, fw customization and circumstances of the update (ota or else).
Anyway, i've read a bit about the issue on that 'meee tooo' jk of a forum - talk.sonymobile - the issue seems to be contained to the Dual Sim variant of the XZ p. Also the repair option (reflash) via sony pc companion isn't going to fix it.... Sadly you'll have to wait for a fix.
On a remote chance of success - try flashing another customization? Although i don't think it would fix it.

Very poor images quality.
Please report this bug to Sony here:
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...nsor-not-reading-and-laser-focus/td-p/1272670
This issue seems to be affecting all the G8142 phones.
I'm not sure if it is caused by the sensor not working itself or the service menu app not being able to access data from it because I see no degradation in camera quality.
Forgot to attach the second screenshot
I have the exact issue with the XZP Dual (G8142) but strange enough the camera itself has no problems with autofocus, quality and color reproduction I don't know about you guys but I feel the camera shoots better pictures than it did on Nougat?
According to a Support Rep on the forums, a fix will be released in November. I'm guessing they'll also deploy it with the November security updates.
Hi Everyone,
You may have noticed that the camera on your Xperia XZ Premium Dual SIM doesn't behave according to specifications after the update to Android 8.0 (software build 47.1.A.3.254).
This is due to a software configuration related to the RGBC-IR and ToF sensors used by the camera. When these sensors don't work correctly, pictures taken under specific lighting/colour conditions will be affected. Results include slower auto focus and effects on colour rendition.
This has been solved in an updated software version that is scheduled for release in November, 2017. However, please note that Software updates are released at different times depending on the operator, market, region or country. Therefore, I am not able to give you an exact date for when a specific update will be available for your device. In addition, network operators and specific markets may choose not to use the updates for specific models.

You can be sure of it by turning on the camera, then pointing another camera at the sensor part. If it works you'll see 'white' bursts coming out of the sensor (infrared). But it's been tested already and the sensor is truly non functional.
Hi guys, i'm coming from the Moto 360 Sport, and interested in getting the Huawei Watch 2 Sport, simple because Moto crippled it after the AW 2.0 upgrade, ridiculously slow to use now.
With the Moto 360 Sport, it did have a display feature called "AnyLight ", that displays in 'any light' and i loved that.
Motorola accomplishes it by combining a traditional backlit LCD in "transmissive" display with reflective backing. Or something like that.
Anyway, I really like this feature, see screens attached.
I was wondering what the Huawei Watch 2 Sport/Classic screens look like in dim/ambient mode. Does it have this idea?
Anyone care to share some photo of this, as I've read/watched so many reviews, but cannot see what this looks like.
Thanks a lot.
Darren.
Hw2 is amoled so in ambient modes is uses much much less battery because of the black pixels being off, but this feature that you're talking about is not available in hw2, however the watch display is very sharp and shiny even in direct sun light.
also be aware that amoled screens get damaged (burn-in issue) if a pixel is on a particular color for a long time, meaning that for example on ambient mode there are numbers around the screen that are always on, this may cause those numbers to burn in the screen so even when you are in a completely different screen, you will still see those numbers! (for more info google Burn-in)
Just adding to what was already said regarding burn in. Most watch face makers that support ambient move include a feature which shifts the pixels around ever so slightly to prevent burn in. A very simple yet elegant solution to the problem.

yeah if that's as you said it would be great, I havent noticed it yet
So I just found something interesting. Under developer options > Wear Developer options there is a "force anti burn" setting. Set this up now to give it a try.

hi seems like relevant topic for my question.
are there many disadvantages to get the wifi only (non 4G) of this huawei watch 2? (i get the obvious i cant put sim card and get direct internet connection of course). for example:
will the NFC still works on the non 4G model?
how about the xda community ie root twrp and custom rom? less or more than global version?
any other important things i need to know when deciding to get wifi only or 4G?
thank you.

Has the camera app improved in Oreo?
Has anyone successfully tried flashing NMI81C to an unlocked device? I can't imagine there'd be a problem, but if no one has done it or seen any problems with it then I know what I'm doing when I get home tomorrow. That was the last build my bluetooth music controls worked with, so I'm pretty excited to be able to flash back to it.

Oreo running great...only found one bug dealing with wifi hotspot and not being able to select 5ghz as the band to use.
Since flashing Oreo last night I am getting excellent battery life and it appears that I may do better than I was on Android nougat. Personally I really like this phone and no the camera is not the best but for $450 this is probably the nicest phone anyone can hold in their hand at any price point. Once the dads get interested because of price and we can get a port for the Huawei camera I'm sure this camera would do very well

Nice, I will try to flash the Oreo beta of the Unlocked version to my Sprint variants. BTW, do you happen to know how to trigger the UICC unlock menu without having to have the Sprint sim in there and activate the phone? Sprint reps told me the phone is unlocked on their end, but my phone still say invalid sim because the UICC unlock menu has not been activated on the phone itself. Would flashing the unlocked firmware solves this?
Only downside for me so far on the beta is battery life.
On nougat I would go to bed with 100% battery and wake up with 100%.
On Oreo I woke up with like 97%. Keeps dying quicker during the day as well, but this is expected as they mentioned the Oreo framework wasn't optimized for battery life yet.

Not only does it work but definitely recommended as you will get the latest fingerprint sensor fix as well as better screen touches.
I am coming up on 24 hours into this Oreo beta, and it's my daily driver. So far, so good. Battery life seems a bit better for me, although it was great before - hard to do an apples to apples comparison though. No bluetooth issues, in fact, this seems a bit better with Plantronics Voyager/Legend than before - haven't tried in the car yet. I had one spontaneous reboot (I wasn't using it, just sitting on the desk and I noticed it rebooting) but so far, I can't see any reason not to charge ahead. The install did turn off wifi calling, I had to re-enable that. No service/signal issues (on T-Mobile in central Texas).
Just thought i would make a threat to address the google maps being laggy / unresponsive.
It can usually be fixed by changing the display to HD+ mode if this was bugging anyone like it was myself.

Thanks, that did help but not ideal. We can't not enjoy the FD+ just because it will slow down Google Maps. Come on Google, sort it out!!
I guess Google blames it on Huawei, and Huawei blames it on Google. The fact remains that these problems were also reported on the Mate 10, 6 months ago and no progress has been made.
Don't have this issue. CLT-L09 variant.
Came here from the P20 forum. I have the same problem on my device.
CLT-L09 here, used maps yesterday with no problems or lag
Good to see it's not just me.
It's laggy as hell for me. Far slower than it was on my LG G4 that I just moved from. So slow and jumpy!
Same issue here, hopefully either Huawei or Google will fix the issue over next week or so. (I can use the workaround till then but it is mildly annoying)
Strange how some people have this issue and others not. Maybe it's region dependent? I have a UK P20 Pro (Three network - dual sim) and I have been using it for navigation for a few days now with no issues. It is pretty much running the same as it did on my Galaxy S8+.
Not noticed lag anywhere so far! Scrolling is better than it was on any of my previous Samsung devices.
My only issue is the stock icons and launcher. It looks too outdated. I'll stick Nova on it soon when I have the time to set it all up.

What exactly is the issue? Is it terrible lag? I want to understand how bad the situation is and when it happens to see if I can reproduce it.
I have the same model as you, so I find it very strange. Are you using a third party launcher or have you done anything else to your device since you set it up?

You can see the glitch here.
I find this strange also as I have never seen it. In fact maps has been super fast for me. I am dual SIM from three UK. CLT-L29 model
It is strange. I have tried to uninstall updates and install it again and they didn't seem to work.
The slowness is in the lag when you try to move the map or even when clicking around or when searching.
With FD+ switched off, it seems to work absolutely fine. Just like it did on my Nexus 6P
Hopefully, it will be fixed soon, so for now I am just going to live with HD+ setting
It's poor if it's been a known issue for 6 months. I'm on EE in the UK (see attached) and I feel cheated if I have to change the screen resolution for a mainstream, hugely popular app to work as it should.
It's made me nearly as unhappy as when I discovered that only one of my P20 Pro's speakers were working.
That's not normal, right?! ?
What software build are you guys on? I am on 8.1.0.103 and I have the maps issue. I saw that an online reviewer at android authority was using software 8.1.0.106 and said they were on "beta" software... lol. Am I on alpha then?

Looks like maybe the dual sim works (maybe the firmware version)
I'm on 103 on L 09 (UK single sim) and it took me ages to work out why maps wasn't working.
Hmm, this is even weirder! I am on dual SIM and my firmware version is only 8.1.0.102, which doesn't match with anyone of the versions you are talking above.

If you have never had any experience with ODIN or are afraid of turning your phone into a $1,000 paperweight then i strongly suggest leaving this to the pros.I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURS OR ANYONE ELSE NEGLIGENCE.
Tell me about it. I introduced my younger brother to xda and he just got an s9. It's already worthless.

Even since I started playing around with smart phones, I have never managed to completely brick a phone, especially new phones, how on earth do you fully brick one now days lol.

Yes, it is not suitable for European versions.
Can confirm working on s9+
Only problems I've had is Bluetooth car phone calls apparently sound like garbage to the other person and when the phone call ends it doesn't tell my car it's ended and when it resumes music it sounds like someone putting sound dampening material on my speakers. I have to turn my Bluetooth off and on again and it's fixed.
Also popup view isn't working correctly. The X at the top where you can drag the popup to dismiss it won't leave until you stop the process which is just a quick restart for me.
The original post says dual cameras isn't working yet but it does for me. I have normal and telephoto buttons in the camera app.
WiFi calling also doesn't work. Nor does device care.
I also feel like my Sprint LTE slowed quite a bit. Nothing loads nearly as fast on data.

This also just showed up today on my device, also I factory reset my device and my catche in recovery and everything works now, except the bluetooth issue that I'm also having in my car. I did see that there is a beta 3 out now to download. I will upload the file in about 3 hrs

Well it's not really sold for 1000 ... It's about 700 on Amazon. I bought mine for 600... In a year's time it will go for 500...refurbished 400 yet I don't think any X's will sell under a 1000....
still s9+ is not to be played with unstable Android from xda... It never will work as factory intended...
Anyone wanna play with Android's, buy xiaomi or oppo...
Anyhow, if u hold s9+ in hand vs xs, iPhone easily satisfy double the worth....
As I mentioned I feel hugely let down by Samsung's camera no matter what anyone reviewer say... Android is for geeks, iPhone is for people who want a dependable credible high a quality phone that no Android touches.... End of story
