Bluetooth suddenly stopped working - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
yesterday I noticed that Bluetooth is switched off on my S7. I tried to switch it on again, but the slider/button in the bluetooth menu just stays gray, even though it moved to the right. It looks like the phone is not able to start blutooth for whatever reason. WiFi works without a flaw. My phone is completely stock, no root, no knox, no custom rom. I'm on stock rom G935FXXU1DQJ1
Any ideas how to fix this?

Try to perform a hard reset. Maybe there is a bug in your phone.

Well I was hoping to find a solution without having to wipe everything. Without knowing if it will fix the issue, it would take me several hours of lifetime to setup the phone from scratch.

Ok - this is very strange. I'm still using the phone currently as it is and I'm wearing my Gear S2 smartwatch to at least know what time it is, but throughout the day bluetooth actually turned a few times on, synchronized with the watch and suddenly switch off again.
I was trying to stream music to a bluetooth speaker during one of the phases in which bluetooth was working, but the music stops after several seconds and bluetooth switches off again.
What the ....?

Ok I think I fixed it. Resetting all connectivity settings did the trick for me. Although I now need to reconnect to all the devices and WiFis. Still better then doing a factory reset

[Q] Bluetooth headset(s) problem

Hey everyone, was hoping someone might be able to shed some light as to what's going on with my phone/headset.
I've had this bluetooth samsung headset for a while, it's always worked on my old Galaxy I. It worked for a couple days on my Galaxy II, and then stopped. The phone will find it, and it will pair, but it will not connect.
So I tried my wife's headset. Same thing happened, worked for a couple days, and then all of a sudden it won't work. Same thing, it will pair, but not connect.
What in the world could cause this? Is there a file or directory I can delete that will purge the bluetooth settings on the phone maybe?
Thanks everyone.
I had this happen with my handsfree speakerphone and my Bluetooth ODB sensor recently. What I did was go into Settings>Wireless and network>Bluetooth Settings and unpair and re-pair the devices (long press on them from the list until the menu pops up to un-pair)
I did try that and rescanned for them. It finds then again but it's the same problem it just won't connect with them. Very strange.
Would a custom rom have any effect on something like this? I was thinking maybe switch over to something else and try that maybe?

i have this trouble with my bt all the time. i usually have to turn my bluetooth off on the settings and keep restarting then turning it back on. after doing this three or four times it seems to start working right. if u find a faster way would be helpfull
I've found that BT (with and without custom Roms) seems to work whenever it feels like it. To be fair my phone usually seems to be willing to work, but more than a couple of times it has decided to not work for no good reason other than apparently enjoying watching me be mad.

Strange Bluetooth issue

Since I got my phone on release day and I haven't been able to use it to make calls in my 2012 mazdaspeed3. My other phones have worked fine so I thought I needed a software update on my radio. Well everything is up to date and that didn't fix it.
The problem is when I make or receive a phone call the Bluetooth will connect and disconnect every 5-10 seconds. This makes it impossible to talk on the phone.
So I have tried stock roms, sense based roms, and all the CM based roms and they all did the same thing. Yesterday I was trying to figure it out so I sat in my car in the garage and the phone was in a constant connect disconnect loop. During this time I was disabling apps and services hoping to stop it when all of a sudden I turned off WiFi and it stopped. I then called my wife and had a 10 min conversation with no problems. So I now run a tasker profile that when Bluetooth connects it turns off WiFi so I can make calls. The problem is I have a nexus 7 dash mounted and I use the WiFi hotspot to run apps.
So after all that, does this sound like a hardware issue or a software issue? Should I return my phone for an exchange? Thanks for the help

Borrow the ole ball and chain's phone and see if it acts the same way.
Tried it. It works fine in my car, she has an S4. My phone also does the same in her car...

Sounds like u need to swap it out for a replacement. Never had an issue unless using custom kernals.

Weird...
My M8 should be here today and I have a 2010 Mazdaspeed3. I hope this isn't an issue with all of them. Although, my MS3 has a long history of it's bluetooth not getting along with HTC phones.
Did you have any issues?

So far, no. It took me like 20 minutes to get the phone to pair but once that was done it hasn't disconnected at all. I have music constantly streaming through Bluetooth to the car and I've taken a couple calls with no issue.
having the same issue here. My vehicle is a 2013 Ford F150 with Sync.
Worked up until about a day ago .. Now i can't get stock or aosp roms to lock in bluetooth

Have you tried clearing data and cache in settings?
the Red Viper ROM
I am having the same issue.
It is connecting and disconnecting repeatedly, and it is SUPER annoying because it essentially renders my pebble watch useless.
For a while i was using the Automatic Link (car link) and was getting 'bluetooth share has stopped' errors, but found that when I stopped using the Automatic app it helped a little bit (stopped giving me the 'share has stopped' error), but it still connects and disconnects repeatedly.
The weirdest thing about this is that when I first got this phone I wasn't having this problem, everything was working fine for the first month or so, but it seems to keep getting worse.
I have tried wiping cache, dalvik, fixing permissions, etc. and have not had any luck, but I don't want to do a complete wipe of all my data and lose my text messages, etc. unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, since there are images and things in there that I continually refer to for work, and I have not found that titanium backup restores them very reliably.
Has anybody had any luck with this issue? Could it be a defective device? It seems to me like it should be a software problem because it is not something I was having problems with from the start...
I am very frustrated with this, even more so because I love this phone so much. I have never had a phone that I liked as much as this one, usually the first thing I do is install an AOSP rom, but I even like Sense 6 in some ways. With Nova Launcher's 'OK Google' hotword support this phone is a dream come true... if only the bluetooth worked.

Sounds like the common theme may be root for whatever reason. I assume when you first had the phone and it worked that you were not rooted? Possible issue?

you need to let HTC backup app take care of backing up your texts etc...what if you dropped the phone in the toilet tonight or got pushed into a pool?
this app is free...will backup your stuff daily or on demand and will restore email accounts/texts/desktop/apps/blinkfeed settings etc.

install that, backup to the cloud (uses Google drive) and then continue troubleshooting without fear of losing stuff.

Bluetooth audio streaming problems after Oreo Update

Well I just upgraded to new Oreo and guess what? I can't use my Bluetooth headset anymore (Blue Tiger Elite). The audio gets distorted or breaking up. Failing to connect or disconnect to/from the phone. Was working fine before update. Tinkering Bluetooth settings in developer mode didn't help since they will stay unchanged after you open the menu again.
Have anyone encountered same problem?
When im paired up with the stereo in my work truck i noticed a pop every now and then.

Audio streaming on Nougat for me was perfect all the time, now since my Oreo update I've experienced constant stuttering and/or growly distortion for a moment at least every ten seconds. Also 'Settings' keeps closing whenever I'm accessing any of my apps when changing permissions for example. It couldn't even pull up my app list, so I've done a backup and deleted at least 300 of my apps, and only now things are slightly better. I don't understand why everything is lagging so much now when before the update, all was perfect.. Help?

Try factory reset, it worked for me. Good luck!
Yes, I'm having the same issue with bluetooth connection and the same Blue Tiger Elite. Just got off the phone with Verizon tech person he is thinking my headset is old enough technology that it won't stay connected.

App updates hang / delayed notifications

Recently on my Note 10+ (SM-N975U1) running stock Pie and Dec 1 2019 update, I have been experience 2 issues.
Notifications for some apps are delayed
App updates hang on Google Play Store
For the app updates, they stall with "Download Pending" or the download stalls with <100% complete.
Resolution steps that have NOT worked
Clearing cache and data for Google Play Store
Rebooting phone
Rebooting into Safe Mode
Changing from Wifi to Cell Network Data and vice versa
Stop/starting app updates
Current Workaround
Closing/swiping the Google Play Store and opening it again. It will eventually complete downloading after multiple attempts and install/update an app - you will have to repeat this continuously for every app you want to install or update.
Is there anyway to debug this without doing a complete reset?
This is a problem I've had on many phones over the last few years. It took me a while to figure it out but it's bluetooth related. More specifically, I had the "Dynamic Lock" option enabled on my Windows 10 work laptop (which basically just locks my pc when my phone gets far enough away). I disabled this and now all my notifications come immediately and play store updates work as they should. I realize that you may not have that enabled and if that is the case then turn off your bluetooth for a while and see what happens. It worked for me and several others on the samsung community forum.

Thank you! I turned off Bluetooth but nothing happened but after I rebooted with Bluetooth off everything started to work again. Is there a permanent fix for this? I am assuming turning back on Bluetooth will cause this to happen again? The strange thing this never happened to my Note 8.

I have no idea why this happens. What I do know I have had this issue on LG phones, Pixels, and Motorola's. It isn't a Samsung thing. I think it's an Android Bluetooth issue.
This is an old thread - but in case someone else finds it, I came across someone's suspicions in another thread that their Plantronics headset was causing some kind of problem with their Bluetooth. I began unplugging my Savi headset when not in use and it seems to help... YMMV.
This has been going on since Pie; made me upgrade from my Note 8 to Note 10 and it came right back. Infuriating.
You may also want to try to rub a lucky stone and do some chanting as well, because it's about as effective as hoping for a fix after all this time.

Problem dropping calls

Hey
Does anyone experience problems of phone having full signal and then dropping it.
The problem I'm experiencing is frequent dropout during calls and being unable to establish them afterwards.
I can send texts and use the internet one minute and the next the phone doesn't work and drops my calls as well as doesn't accept them.
I tried swapping SIMs, rebooting, flight mode, you name it. The phone starts working again after about five minutes.
Here is the error:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e6_D3RM6luCK_LWDQSmOq-gJmmxjQOd9/view?usp=sharing
I would really appreciate some help. I highly suspect that this started happening with one of the latest updates.
I'm on a vanilla 12.0.3 Global rom.
Cheers

Yup. I have it pinpointed to a software problem as the phone worked just fine until a couple of updates ago. I can't however work out what could cause it.
I'm currently trying toggling VoLTE and changing APN settings (APN had wrong settings but still worked). Maybe the combination of both could cause problem.
I have also found out that SMS and data connection works fine all the time. It's just the calling function that causes the problem. I can listen to Spotify all day and it will work but as soon as someone tries to call me the signal will drop and everything stops. When I call the same thing happens. The bars just drop to 0 and playback stops. It resumes right after and works fine as long as I don't try to call. If I do the same thing happens.
The issue resolves itself after 5-30 minutes or so and then everything works totally fine.
So yeah if I had a rooted phone I would definitely contribute this to faulty rom or a rogue app. But I don't have one so it should work fine.
I've managed to capture it on video (sorry for the shaky camera but it was hard to film using one hand):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxusuCwsiBc&t=2s
Reboots, flight mode, swapping SIM cards (using a brand new one), using a SIM in slot 1 or slot 2, heck both slots, VoLTE on or off... I have literally tried everything. Nothing changes. Placing the same card in my other phone is fine. The problem happens everywhere and not only in one place so it's not reception. Also it doesn't matter if I'm moving or not so it's not switching between towers.
Same prob

Sort off. I had to send it to a service center and they've returned my money as it was deemed irreparable.
