Hey
Does anyone experience problems of phone having full signal and then dropping it.
The problem I'm experiencing is frequent dropout during calls and being unable to establish them afterwards.
I can send texts and use the internet one minute and the next the phone doesn't work and drops my calls as well as doesn't accept them.
I tried swapping SIMs, rebooting, flight mode, you name it. The phone starts working again after about five minutes.
Here is the error:

I would really appreciate some help. I highly suspect that this started happening with one of the latest updates.
I'm on a vanilla 12.0.3 Global rom.
Cheers

Yup. I have it pinpointed to a software problem as the phone worked just fine until a couple of updates ago. I can't however work out what could cause it.
I'm currently trying toggling VoLTE and changing APN settings (APN had wrong settings but still worked). Maybe the combination of both could cause problem.
I have also found out that SMS and data connection works fine all the time. It's just the calling function that causes the problem. I can listen to Spotify all day and it will work but as soon as someone tries to call me the signal will drop and everything stops. When I call the same thing happens. The bars just drop to 0 and playback stops. It resumes right after and works fine as long as I don't try to call. If I do the same thing happens.
The issue resolves itself after 5-30 minutes or so and then everything works totally fine.
So yeah if I had a rooted phone I would definitely contribute this to faulty rom or a rogue app. But I don't have one so it should work fine.
I've managed to capture it on video (sorry for the shaky camera but it was hard to film using one hand):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxusuCwsiBc&t=2s
Reboots, flight mode, swapping SIM cards (using a brand new one), using a SIM in slot 1 or slot 2, heck both slots, VoLTE on or off... I have literally tried everything. Nothing changes. Placing the same card in my other phone is fine. The problem happens everywhere and not only in one place so it's not reception. Also it doesn't matter if I'm moving or not so it's not switching between towers.
Same prob
I have the same prob, and I also tried every thing even flashing lineage didn't help, did u manage to find solution????

Sort off. I had to send it to a service center and they've returned my money as it was deemed irreparable.

I have this issue with my touch, that, when I make or recieve a call while roming my phone will restart within the first 30 seconds of the call.
Has anyone experienced this or/and know if it can be fixed?
Thanks in advance,
Kris
I worked out why it did it. You in a call then you hear a hissing noise then it reboot itself. Think this is a bug. While roaming in GSM network using EDGE or GPRS you cannot use voice and data together. Only in 3G which data and voice can be use together. The funny thing is the phone does not attemp to stop either voice or data, it just reboots itself.
Wonder there is any solution to this. Currently i just disable data during roaming on GSM network.
Now that I gave it more test......it restarts regardless of data or not......
hrm .. i reflashed the origional rom and spl onto the phone and it seems to work now - unfortuantly i have 2 drive fairly far to test it...
Has anyone else had this issue though?
Kris
I'm getting the same thing (I think), on my Touch Pro (Raphael).
I'm doing more testing to see exactly what is causing this, but it sounds like the same thing you're experiencing.
I wonder if there is some setting in the registry to tell the phone not to attempt to download data whilst on a GPRS connection and a phone call.
I started another thread about this before I found yours.

Same here, are we all on the 3 network?
New firmware may fix it. See post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439983
yes, but I like my RomeOS and mine's a HKK grey import anyway, doesn't have the 3 Software on it, so I'm doubtful if the 3 firmware will fix it... it might of course
interesting, i dont seem to have the same problem even when i am forcing my TP to go on gsm network. hopefully its not something i will face as i am also on 3network
Came across an interesting issue with my RAPH whilst away.
The phone would reboot when ringing, or making outbound calls, sometimes the call could be established and a conversation could be had for a random amount of time (never more than a minute) and the phone would suddenly reboot.
I fixed the issue by turning off bluetooth (might have been looking for my headset) and just changing every setting in "Phone" to something and then changing it back.
Havent had an issue since.
figured id post incase anyone else had this frustrating issue.
I guess this might be solved with a different Radio version.
what version are you in?

Are you using S2U2 by any chance?
Mine started doing it since i put S2U2 on but am not sure if its entirely to blame.
Hi all,
I have been doing further testing and can report that S2U2 is not the problem. Its a device issue that occurs when i roam to a GSM network. When on 3G its usually fine. I have just upgraded radio to the .28 to see if this helps.
Both myself and my brother who have the same devices are seeing the same issue. I have seen it on the 3 rom and also the HTC asia rom hence why im looking at radio now.
I tried Radio .32 with no luck. Tried a few different ROMS as well, ROMEoS, the HTC ASIA update as well as the updated 3 ROM with no joy. Shame cause the phone is great apart form this "showstopper", back to my ever trusty Blackjack until a new handset arrives.
I'm on NextG btw, and problem occurs when swictching between GSM, Edge and HSDPA. Unfortunatey both home and office are in spots that switch between signals depending on where I am in the house/office, very frustrating. I'm also 90% sure it only happens when a call and data are happening at the same time, as my phone syncs wth Exchange, this is regularly.
I rang HTC support, they suggested a hard reset, which of course I've done many times, otherwise return for repair/replacement.
I know it is only an alpha build ICS but this thing rocks. The smoothest ROM I have installed on my g2x. Except for wi-fi calling issues. W-fi calling initiates, can make/receive call but the moment you answer call, other end can't hear and you can't hear the other end and then it crashes. I tried everything already I know under the sun. Re-installed ROM, installed and re-installed different versions of ICS gapps, dalvik wipe, and everything. Just need it at work. I work in a place where every carrier has no signal, so wi-fi calling is awesome. Anybody has same problem with me and found a solution?
I've noticed a reboot or plane mode on/off will randomly fix it. It seems kind of hit-or-miss at this point.
I have the same issue except I haven't been able to make/receive a single call successfully. Admittedly I haven't tried airplane mode or rebooting after the first fail.
I've tried debugging it a bit and there's some strange messages in GANRIL -- there's a bunch of modem commands then suddenly NO CARRIER after some unsolicited command, then the whole thing seems to fail.
There's also some error that happens in the audio lib possibly pointing to a failed hand-off, but maybe that's a red herring.
I've tried a bunch of different versions I've found searching for a solution including one I packaged myself with some experimental build props and the .so and APK files from CM7.2. No success so far.
I kind of want to start a bounty for this -- Wifi Calling is very important for me. TMO signal sucks in my apartment that it's practically unusable even with a zBoost Wi-Ex running in here. In some places like Las Vegas the signal was so bad that I ended up using a Verizon MiFi card + Wifi calling =P
ICS is so cool though that even given all that, not having it is not a total deal breaker for me, just an annoyance.
I also have problems with wifi calling on HFS v1.2. It will connect and I can answer it. However, once I answer I can't hear the other side and they can't hear me and then it appears as if the other side calls again and all I can do is ignore the call.
Yeah, I managed to get this far now -- can sometimes make calls, can receive all calls but audio does not route on received calls. Then it goes into a bad state and requires a reboot for it to work again.
It seems ICS + Wifi Calling works, there's just bugs to iron out ...

Has anyone else experienced that ? I`ve been sometimes notified by friends/family that they couldn`t reach me even though I`m always under full signal areas. I can make callls, but sometimes cannot get any; tried that myself and can confirm it. This has happend with all ROMs -sense or CM based- and radios I`ve been using latetly.
LE: I use stock kernels, always.
Any suggestions ? Thanks.

This happened to me once, I had just changed to another carrier and my number had been ported a day earlier than I thought. Since my outgoing calls and SMS was working I didnt connect the dots. All was fine after changing to the new SIM.
Hmm, so could be related to the SIM itself. I plan on changing it and see whether the issue is still there, or not.
LE: it wasn`t caused by SIM as I`ve changed it 2 hours ago and within first attempt for an incoming call, I got the same problem. Then what I did was to wipe everything again -including SD card this time- flashed CM10 and so far so good. I`ll report back within few days.
Unfortunately, the problem keeps coming back. Regardless how many radios, ROMs and wiping method I`ve used, more and more often I cannot get incoming calls and voice mail gets in. I don`t really know what else to do. Very pissed off....
Hi folks
I have a Nexus S (i9020a). It has stock 4.1.2 Jelly bean from Google (downloaded the stock image and flashed it). It worked fine for over a month.
Suddenly few days back this device got a problem. When I dial any number I can't hear any dialing sounds and even after the call has connected I can't hear the opposite person and the opposite person also can't hear me (The phone still shows as 'Dialing' though it's already connected). The same is true when I answer any call. Both parties can't hear anything.
This is solved by rebooting the phone for the first phone call only. After I reboot, the 1st phone call works fine, then this problem persists for any calls I make/receive until I reboot the phone again.
I tried flashing a different radio but this problem is still there. I tried my sim card on a different phone and it works fine, so the problem is not that too. My 3G data works just fine.
I need this phone for the next few days/weeks (hopefully not months) before my Nexus 4 gets delivered
Thanks..
Edit: Modified the title; Probably gave the wrong meaning that the problem is solved.
<bump> Modified the title. Earlier title gave an impression that the problem is solved whereas I still have a problem.
Have you installed any apps which could somehow affect the dialler?
Unless someone else can give you a different advice, I can't think of any other option than do a full wipe and reflash.
I haven't installed any such apps.
Also, I already did a full wipe and flashed the stock image again. The problem is still there.
Don't know what else you could try, sorry mate - hope someone else can help you sort it out!
Thanks for trying. I think I will go to some hardware shop and see if they can figure out..
Try using a headset for making phone calls so that we can identify if it's really the hardware's problem.

I had similar problem when RAM running out. Usually a reboot fix the problem for a bit.
What I did:
1. With Titanium Backup Pro, froze unused RAM hogging system apps, like Google+, Google play magazine, etc
2. Froze or uninstall Facebook, Word with Friends, etc which are resident and hog RAMs .
3. Install marmite kernel, free up more usable RAMs.
Hope it helps you too.

Thanks for the suggestion!
I tried this too but doesn't work...
Try any custom ROM instead of stock ROM and a different kernel too. There could be chances that you've flashed the wrong ROM / radio too.
Sent from my Nexus S
Problem solved.
I went to a hardware store today. The guy said that it's a problem with the 3G service of my carrier (Vodafone India). The moment I enabled the '2G only' option in the Mobile networks settings area, this problem was gone. The technician said that this issue is affecting some people randomly. He said that since 3G service was launched just last year, the networks are not yet capable of handling all kinds of devices (he claims that the bug is so erratic that another Nexus S i9020a may work just fine with the very same bootloader/radio/rom which doesn't make any sense). When I said that 3G service was working fine before, he said that most probably my carrier changed some settings on their side which is causing this issue for me.
I have tried this for 6-8 hours now, making a lot of phone calls and it seems that the issue is gone. It saddens me that I am off 3G for now but at least my phone calls and basic EDGE internet works fine. I will have to work with Vodafone to solve this or simply wait for my new phone (Nexus 4) and hope it won't have the same problem..
