How to clean install a rom ( custom or stock ) - General Questions and Answers

Does format data make a a clean install of the rom or i need something else?
I have oneplus5, i just relocked bootloader to install stock oreo, so i wiped data/factory reset. And now i download and install oreo via OTA. Does this mean i have a clean rom?
And what if now i want to install a custom rom? How can i clean install it?
EDIT
Tell me only this to clear it on my mind.
Now i have stock oreo, unlocked bootloader, TWRP and rooted. If i go to TWRP and wipe system and data ( and boot?? or this causes brick?? ) and then move a rom ( custom or not ) to internal memory[ I dont have SD card, Oneplus 5 ] (without exiting TWRP!!) and install it, this is a 100% clean install? Or if i wipe system, then i cant access TWRP anymore?
And last question. If the above statement is true, the rom i try to install must be the same version as the previous, if i dont want to brick my device? Cause the kernel has memorize it? What if i have android 5 and i wanna install custom android 8?
Just help me clarify these things and i think i will have my question fully answered!
Thanks i advance guys!
EDIT 2
This link shows the steps to clean flash a rom : https://www.guidingtech.com/47725/fl...-twrp-android/
But this applies if your current rom and the rom you want to install have the same android version, right? What if i have android 6 and i want to clean install android 8 custom?
Sorry for the confusing post and my bad english. And thanks in advance guys!

Someone can help me pls??

Restore backup via recovery from sd card?

Hi!
I would like to know if it is possible to restore the 4.4.4 kit kat backup on a 5.1. lollipop system. So basically i would like to update to 5.1 but then I may want to revert back to 4.4.4 with the back up of recovery's 4.4.4 (which is stored on a memory card) Is it possible? Is there a root out for 5.1 yet? please help me if you can.
EDIT:
Here is the solution how to root and install recovery on .368 firmware:
http://techbeasts.com/2015/09/18/ro...ria-z1-compact-android-511-146a0368-firmware/
This is how you create your own FTF firmware with XperiFirm and FlashTool:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/08/1...re-files-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool-guide/
This is how you make a pre rooted, flashable zip:

I hope everything is clear now. I followed the steps above and it is working fine.

you can update to 5.1 but use a prerooted firmware with recovery included, don t flash official cause you will not be able to root it and install recovery.
i reverted between kit kat and lollipop many times myself,no prob.
as long as you have a recovery installed i don t thing you will have a problem.
of course make a back up,in case you want back.
now i noticed you post in the wrong section, should be moved in questions and answers

that´s wrong - you can root LP FW with that TOOL from our genius dev @munjeni.
You only had to unlock the bootloader.
Do I need a custom recovery for flashing the new 5.1.1 firmware? I mean do I need the specific XZ Dual Recovery or can I use the recovery which was installed automatically after rooting?

you say that you made a backup of 4.4.4,right?
you entered recovery so you did it either with TWRP or CWM.TWRP and CWM are both recoveries.
you can flash pre rooted firmware and restore backups with both of them,i just prefer better and suggest TWRP.
remember that if you want to restore your back up you need to do it with the same recovery you made it,i think that TWRP cant restore backups made with CWM and vice-versa.
anyway, you can easily find what backup you have if you find the folders named TWRP and CLOCKWORK or CWM in your external or internal storage, back up files is about 4gb size.
how to install now:
1.reboot your phone and when your led light blink press volume down key to enter TWRP recovery.if it gets you in CWM reboot again and when led blink press volume up,so you enter TWRP recovery.
2.now you are in TWRP you press WIPE on the top right box.then drug the slider at the bottom SWIPE TO FACTORY RESET
3.press back button annd shoose install
4.find your prerooted zip,on the top centre under SELECT ZIP TO INSTALL,is STORAGE internal or external sd card
5.install zip:good:
PS:make a fresh backup before you start
Thank you so much. Finally someone explained it normally.
Can someone give me a link where I can find pre rooted 5.1 Rom as a zip file for my Z1 compact? It would also be important to be central europe, unbranded or telekom. Thank you in advance!
You can do one yourself.
I don't have URLs till hands but those are easy to find on forum.

Unable to get OTA Updates installed on TWRP - Need to go back to stock recovery

Hi All,
Background:
Installed TWRP recovery to downgrade to KitKat from Android ver 5.0.2 / COS 12.0 YNg1TAS17L
( I guess the changes in lollipop made me to do so).
But after installing TWRP, for some reason or other I did nothing and now the issue is the OTA are not getting installed. From other similar thread I know that we can download the OTA zip and install through TWRP and I am not looking to get into that...as I am giving this device to my family.
Help Required:
1) Is there a way to uninstall TWRP and go back to stock recovery without losing any data?
( Is it as simple as flashing recovery image from the Stock ROM?)
2) Using the OnePlus tool kit can we flash the stock ROM which will also restore the stock recovery?
(If so is it possible to flash the latest ROM 5.1.1 or CM12.1)
I just need guidance here with steps on what will be the best and safe approach without frying up my device.
Please suggest

Numerous other threads on the same subject... I don't understand why you are not ready to flash the OTA through TWRP but you are through stock recovery... It's the same thing... Don't use toolkit, they are the ones, in 99% of the cases, that "fry" your phone... As soon as TWRP is installed no OTA will automatically, you will have to flash them manually.

Hello..
I think ist better for you to install a custom recovery frist
after that you can make a nandroid backup using the custom recovery...this is important..because you will messed up..it will event android guru messed up their device once a whaile..
after you have the nandroid backup..you can flash any custom ROM for your devices..to find a devices please use the search bar at the top..
after you gain enough knowlage to build a custom ROM you can compile it for your devices..but for starter I highly recommend you to use any custom ROM for your device first
cherees
Thanks for your reply brother.

Android version

I wanted to know if it is possible to change the version of android
By cyanogenmod or custom rom
If you could, could you give me a tip
How to do or tutorial something that helps?
First what is your device ? I think everybody have to start somewhere, so I have to know what is your device and see what is available for it.
But similar process for most of the cases ; root your device (try one click root like king root app or if it doesn't work try other methods for your device) then flash a custom recovery (TWRP) , into it you would be able to install (flash) custom Roms , and when it's done, just download the custom ROM , the Gapps according to the custom ROM Android version and your device architecture and then boot to recovery, make a Nandroid backup (backup everything in TWRP) then wipe system, data, cache, and delavik cache , flash the ROM, flash the Gapps and reboot.
But all the process (rooting, custom recovery etc) depends of your device
Is the galaxy lite 3 wanted to put the version
4.4.2 or +
Only that it does not exist nowhere, this custom or cyanogenmod
That's why I came here.
Way of having and making one or modifying it

How to flash custom rom?

Guys, i want flash a custom rom.
Someone write me full instructions?
Ex; Mi bootloader unlock etc.
unlock bootloader
Install twrp which i wont recommend because its unstable one and wait for official twrp if u don't want bootloop
after twrp ,mount all storage, clear all data ,cache but don't erase system data then flash Custom rom zip file and restart
Twrp is not working properly with Xioami.eu roms because Google change their code and kernel , better wait for new working TWRP and new realize
There are plenty guides on unlocking and flashing TWRP. I would suggest to not upgrade to A11 to avoid TWRP issues. What I did from stock A10 using Chinese TWRP:
Flash required stock rom base,
Flash custom rom,
Flash Gapps if required,
Flash magisk,
Format data,
Reboot.
