Restore backup via recovery from sd card? - Xperia Z1 Compact Themes and Apps

Hi!
I would like to know if it is possible to restore the 4.4.4 kit kat backup on a 5.1. lollipop system. So basically i would like to update to 5.1 but then I may want to revert back to 4.4.4 with the back up of recovery's 4.4.4 (which is stored on a memory card) Is it possible? Is there a root out for 5.1 yet? please help me if you can.
EDIT:
Here is the solution how to root and install recovery on .368 firmware:
http://techbeasts.com/2015/09/18/ro...ria-z1-compact-android-511-146a0368-firmware/
This is how you create your own FTF firmware with XperiFirm and FlashTool:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/08/1...re-files-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool-guide/
This is how you make a pre rooted, flashable zip:
http://techbeasts.com/2015/07/26/how-create-sony-xperia-pre-rooted-firmware-prf-creator/
I hope everything is clear now. I followed the steps above and it is working fine.

you can update to 5.1 but use a prerooted firmware with recovery included, don t flash official cause you will not be able to root it and install recovery.
i reverted between kit kat and lollipop many times myself,no prob.
as long as you have a recovery installed i don t thing you will have a problem.
of course make a back up,in case you want back.
now i noticed you post in the wrong section, should be moved in questions and answers

that´s wrong - you can root LP FW with that TOOL from our genius dev @munjeni.
You only had to unlock the bootloader.

Do I need a custom recovery for flashing the new 5.1.1 firmware? I mean do I need the specific XZ Dual Recovery or can I use the recovery which was installed automatically after rooting?

you say that you made a backup of 4.4.4,right?
you entered recovery so you did it either with TWRP or CWM.TWRP and CWM are both recoveries.
you can flash pre rooted firmware and restore backups with both of them,i just prefer better and suggest TWRP.
remember that if you want to restore your back up you need to do it with the same recovery you made it,i think that TWRP cant restore backups made with CWM and vice-versa.
anyway, you can easily find what backup you have if you find the folders named TWRP and CLOCKWORK or CWM in your external or internal storage, back up files is about 4gb size.
how to install now:
1.reboot your phone and when your led light blink press volume down key to enter TWRP recovery.if it gets you in CWM reboot again and when led blink press volume up,so you enter TWRP recovery.
2.now you are in TWRP you press WIPE on the top right box.then drug the slider at the bottom SWIPE TO FACTORY RESET
3.press back button annd shoose install
4.find your prerooted zip,on the top centre under SELECT ZIP TO INSTALL,is STORAGE internal or external sd card
5.install zip:good:
PS:make a fresh backup before you start

Thank you so much. Finally someone explained it normally.

Can someone give me a link where I can find pre rooted 5.1 Rom as a zip file for my Z1 compact? It would also be important to be central europe, unbranded or telekom. Thank you in advance!

You can do one yourself.
I don't have URLs till hands but those are easy to find on forum.

[Q] Update to Lollipop without USB and with root

Hi, my N5 has a problem, it has the USB port broken so i can't connect it to the PC. It now has KitKat 4.4.4.
Here is my problem:
I want to update to Lollipop but i can't do it with Factory image and/or Sideload because the USB problem.
I tried to "unroot" but i couldn't do it right, i've downloaded the 5.0 OTA and my phone rebooted with a red triangle and it said "error" i know this is because i still keep my phone rooted.
So i would like to know 2 things:
1) How do i unroot definitely? because i did it before but it seems it didn't do right, i clicked "unroot" on SuperSU (i read that sometimes when you press "unroot" it doesn't erase all the folders and files so you have to do by your own, but what files and what folders are they?)
2) If i unroot and i if update to Lollipop, can i be root without using the USB port?
Of you're rooted, why would you want the stock ota anyway? There are PLENTY of 5.0 Roms in the development section with custom kernels (custom kernels are needed in 5.0 lollipop for root). Flash one of those in recovery. Make sure you have the latest TWRP which you can flash with flashify if you can't fastboot flash using USB.

Is really needed to flash a custom kernel to get root on Lollipop? I'm asking because in this thread [ROM] [STOCK] Android 5.0 LRX21O - Stock/Flashable (11/12/14) FAQ nº 2 it says:
Q: How do I get root?
A: If you want to keep the stock kernel, use CF-Auto-Root. If you flash a custom kernel, just flash the newest SuperSU ZIP afterwards.

So i understand that we can have root with stock kernel, is this ok or did i misunderstood something?
If i want to flash a custom kernel, where can i get "SuperSU" Zip to get root? and does it need to clean something after or before flashing this file? caché, data, etc?
Yes CF AUTO ROOT will allow your to root the stock image. However since youre already rooted youre running into issues flashing it successfully. I attached the SU zip below. My recomendation is if you want the stock ota image, download it from the developer thread, flash francos custim kernel for lollipop ans then flash the root zip i have attached below. I would complete a full wipe of system, data, and both caches (not internal storage or you will lose all on sd card) before flashing. Once you wipe just flash the the rom, kernel and root zip in that order.

It worked perfectly!
I tried first with CF AutoRoot but it failed, but it worked with SuperSU.

[Q] Official (not manual) lollipop OTA on unlocked moto g xt1033

So, the situation is I have moto g xt1033 with :- unlocked bootloader, rooted, stock rom 4.4.4 kitkat (i mean no custom rom). and fastboot flash mode 41.13 2014-06-16 and philz touch 6 clockworkmod v6.0.4.7
I want to know how to update to lollipop with official OTA update (not manually or sideloaded)?
Why I am asking this?
I got the prompt of official OTA available on my phone and then i clicked yes and downloaded the update. But when i clicked on install, it went in bootloop. It boots on the philz recovery mode and then nothing happens just restart again whatever i select.
As of now, as I backed up, I recovered to the before state of the phone. Do I need to lock the bootloader again or what? The official OTA update is not for me? Then how to get lollipop? I read the soak test etc threads but why not official update ?
Locking the bootloader won't do anything,so don't lock it
Ota update requires:
1.Stock firmware(unmodified and unchanged or tampered)
2.unrooted
3.Stock recovery
That probably happend becuZ your KitKat firmware was modified and you have custom recovery,root..
So just reflash the stock firmware
Do that on your own risk as failing this might brick your phone
Thank me if I helped
Thanks mate for reply.
1. I have stock firmware KK 4.4.4 (though xposed framework & few modules are installed currently)
2. Rooted
3. What is stock recovery? (m noob here)
And i guess reflashing the stock firmware wipes out all user data & apps, right?
Any other alternative which does not wipes out my data?

Actually there is no other way you could do it
i tried everything i could to stop the wipe procedure but it obviously wiped everything
you just backup everything you have got on your internal and external sd card ..
1.Stock Recovery:: Android devices come with Google’s recovery environment, which is often referred to as the “stock recovery.” You can boot to the recovery system by pressing device-specific buttons as your phone or tablet boots or by issuing an adb command that boots your device to recovery mode. The recovery menu provides options to help recover your device — for example, you can reset your device to its factory default state from here. The recovery mode can also be used to flash OTA update files.
2.Custom Recovery::A custom recovery is a third-party recovery environment. Flashing this recovery environment onto your device replaces the default, stock recovery environment with a third-party, customized recovery environment. This is a bit like flashing a custom ROM like CyanogenMod — but, instead of replacing your device’s Android operating system, it replaces the recovery environment.
what you have to do is:
Find the Kitkat official update on the internet accrouding to your [Build number],[model number] [system version] you can get this information in about phone....
If you have asia retail then follow this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700502
ok Here what i am planning:
1. Uninstall all modules & xposed framework
2. Unroot using supersu
3. Restore/reflash stock recovery (just recovery not whole firmware as I already have stock rom)
4. Install the update either manually via recovery or using auto install.
Am i on right path? Pls help me on step 3, any link or step-t-step guide? I couldn't find one, every post is abt restoring whole firmware.
TIA. Cheers !!

D6603 23.4.A.1.264 Lollipop 5.1.1 downgrade

Hi all i just bought this mobile and i was curious to know if it was possible to install a custom rom.
I saw that the downgrade is the only solution to root and install custom recovery.
In my case i wish to know which file i have to flash with flashtool.

Update:
Downgrade --> Done
Root and DualRecovery--> Done
Backup DRM TA --> done
Bootloader Unlock --> Done
I'm trying to flash custom room rebooting in Teamwin recovery the flash goes perfect but after when i reboot the Z3 it goes in boot loop and i can enter only in the recovery the Z3 won't start at all.
I've tryied with 2 custom ROm and the original rom lollipop rooted and patched.
What i do wrong? I just put the custom rom in the Micro-sd card and i flash it using the teamwin recovery (before i wipe cache and Dalvik). Do i have to flash before the boot.img?
Thanks

You are either flashing an incompatible custom ROM or your boot loader is not unlocked.
Flash a stock FTF again, then goto the dialer and dial *#*#7378423#*#* then goto service info, configuration and post here what it says in the rooting status.

Well, neither of those require an unlocked bootloader, but that should not make a difference.
What boot.img are you flashing, both of those ROMs require a stock kernel.

The install finish and i click on reboot
DO i have to do other steps to flash the stock kernel?
i didn't flash any boot.img and kernel until now
UPDATE
problem solved i flashed the stock 5.1.1 kernel before to flash the rom and the bootloop disappeared.
Now i'm with the custom Mod there is any possibility to restore the DRM functions with the custom rom?

Well, if you only want to stay on these stock based custom rooms there was no need to unlock the bootloader. You only need that for truly custom rooms like cm or aosp.
If you want these rooms with drm keys then do this.
Restore your T A backup. This will relocate your bootloader
If this results in a boot loop, then flash a stock ftf, and do everything again EXCEPT do not unlock the bootloader this time

Need Clockworkmod Recovery of Honor 6 (H60-L04) for Marshmallow 6.0 EMUI 4.0..(B831)

Hello Guys...
My phone model is Honor 6 H60-L04 & I'm currently running on Marshmallow 6.0 EMUI 4.0 (B831) Rom. with ROOT and TWRP 2.8.7.0 installed. Bootloader unlocked.
I have backed up my kitkat rom (B115) with clockworkmod recovery . and updated to marshmallow.
so now I want my phone revert back from marshmallow to kitkat. I'm am stuck at MM now.
for that I have tried this things but nothing work
1) downloaded stock ROM from official site & flashed via Stock Recovery. (with local update method & three button method.... even with Internal Storage and micro SD card ) but stucked at 36 % . Also tried Downgrade Pack.
2) tried to flash stock recovery.img and system.img files (extracted by Huawei update extractor) via fastboot... but system partition is I think on read-only mode.so not working.
3)bcoz I have CWM backup of kitkat ROM and currently running on TWRP.... tried to search for converting CWM backup to TWRP backup. but not possible
4) I've searched for CWM recovery for MM in this VirusPlus thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57270646&postcount=4
but there is not CWM for MM EMUI 4.0
so If someone have one of the following thing, plz share it to me
1. clockworkmod recovery for marshmallow for my model.
2. TWRP backup of stock kitkat rom would work for me.
Thanks in advance....
I think in the TWRP there is a TWRP version that works with EMUI 4. It's not TWRP 3, but it should work anyway.

I want clockworkmod for EMUI 4.0 to restore my backup of kitkat rom which I previously backed up with clockworkmod recovery.
I can't restore my CWM kitkat rom backup by TWRP recovery.
Alternative idea is
--someone share kitkat stock rom backup folder which is backed up by TWRP recovery. so with use of that I can revert back from marshmallow to kitkat.
Revert back to Lollipop build and try flashing stock KitKat ROM again via fastboot. Use the Unbrick option in Multitool.
there is now way to do that...you can't restore a backup of your KitKat rom from MM you have to downgrade first...if you restore the backup your phone will break...
first of all...you have to download the right downgrade package from EMUI 4.0 TO EMUI 3.1 and then install any build from lollipop... and then you have to install the right downgrade package from emui 3.1 to 3.0 and then install emui 3.0 and then restore the backup
or flash b115 via fastboot after doing all the above mentioned one by one

Thanks for point out the chance of brick phone by restoring kitkat CWM backup on Marshmallow rom. u saved me from brick.
I thought that I can change between kitkat,Lollipop, Marshmallow Roms from one to another by TWRP or CWM recovery. lol
As you mentioned, I've tried to flash Downgrade pack via stock recovery but its says "Software update failed" ( at 5% or 36%). I have tried local update method, all three button method and dial-pad method. Also put package with Internal storage and Micro sdcard. Tried with B804,B822 and B831. but no luck
I know that for downgrade package I have to be on fully stock rom .so I unrooted it. then try to flash but failed.
then I flashed system.img and cust.img (which is extracted by huawei update extractor) via fastboot on pc. On cmd it was successfully flashed. but when I saw system files with Root Explorer it didn't change. (means system files was still old which has su bianry ). so I think my system partition is read-only mode by default.
I can only mount it R/W in TWRP.
Any idea why Downgrade package failed in stock recovery ? (at 5% or 36%)

Thanks bro . I will try now that Unbrick option in Virus plus tool. can I flash direct kitkat rom without going to lollipop ?

Upgrading Honor 4C to Marshmallow

Every Time I try to flash a ROM from CWM I am getting error and while flashing IMG files using ADB the screen is being struck at boot logo. Can anyone guide me how to replace CWM with TWRP so that I can Install Marshmallow (every time while I am trying to flash TWRP it is being struck at boot logo and had to flash stock ROM to recover the phone) and install marshmallow.
Note: Initially I upgraded to Lollipop as the version was not stable and Buggy I reverted to stock version using the official guide.

And then you can try to flash stock firmare using this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4x/how-to/install-emui-4-1-4x-4c-g-play-g-play-t3515702. You might need to be in lollipop or marshmallow to use it.
Hi @keikari thanks for the reply, that is the case where I am facing the problem Neither I can install Twrp 3.0.1-0 (r1,2,3,4) variants nor lollipop or marshmallow update .I am struck with stock Rom tried more than 15 to 20 times . Can you provide any alternative solutions.

What error did fastboot gave you when you tried to flash TWRP?
No error given but after flashing twrp device is struck at boot screen and can't move to next screen cwm flashing works fine .
Is it mandatory to have lollipop or marshmallow update to flash twrp?

I don't know how things really work or why they need stuff to work. But in TWRP thread it says for android 5.1.1 - 6.0. So I guess it's important to have some of those versions.
Is there any other way to flash lollipop or marshmallow from cwm? I even extracted update.app and flashed recovery, system , boot images individually but it also doesn't work struck at boot screen. Can I fully wipe system files from phone and re-flash lollipop or marshmallow update. Similar to full format of a PC.

No idea will that work, but one thing that comes to mind is to flash those images you did and then put UPDATE.APP in your sd card in folder named dload and do force upgrade ( power + vol up + vol down ).

Tried that too but no success. I think the problem occurred while downgrading to kitkat from lollipop maybe it corrupted the boot system. Even that is the case while flashing and wiping cache so many times it might have showed error in any of the instances but it didn't. Can't find out what actually preventing system to update.
