Camera Super Pixel - 48,8MP Photos!!

Hi folks!! I just want to share with all of you a new app for all nexues phones from N5. It take photos with a resolution of 48,8MP on our lovely N5X!! I'm not part of the development of the app nor have any relation with the team so, any thank or contribution goes to the developer. It's on the Play Store here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anforapps.camerasuperpixel and have another thread on N5's forums.

Thats cool, this really makes more detailed pictures. Very good for static pictures of landscapes.

I'm one of the developers of the app. Thanks for the pics!
The quality varies according to the number of photos the app can mix correctly (from 1 to 8). You can activate "Debug mode" setting inside the app to check it, we are working hard to improve speed & quality. Thanks for the feedback!

Using debug mode i made a quick comparison, here it is.

Thanks a lot for the samples! quality of the final photo depends on the number of images (max 8) of the burst the app can mix correctly. You can check this if you enable the "Debug mode" inside the app. We are working to improve quality and speed.
About the color noise, is this problem happening frequently? This is the first time I see this problem...

So it takes 8 photos and then try to squeeze the most pixel of it?
Maybe this project could also help to you (upscaling by using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks)

Resolution is ideed supersampled, BUT picture qualiry is worse than the stock camera. Exposure is off, many color artifacts and there are in fact less detail than in pictures shot with the stock app. Really cool idea though, hope it improves with updates. N5X.

I don't see better quality.
However, maybe you can consider that each image in the burst shot will be of a different focus?
This way, various objects (far and close) will stay sharp.

I already think about take some pictures and put them in one and there it works ! Good job!

Only difference i see is that right picture is using alot of sharpening effects and noise. No improvement of picturequality

i took same thing, by changing all camera' sby touching them allways at same point.. here are the results
1) Image taken by Camera Fv5 -
There is image Smoothing going on... which is same as Lenovo stock camera, but this gave the image size of 5 MB
2) Image taken by Cyanogen Camera -
In here, there is no image smoothening but detail level is Maximum than anyother camera i have tested, This gave image size of 6 MB
3) Image taken by Footej camera -
Here also i can see image smoothing, this exactly showcased what lenovo stock camera did , image size is 2 MB
4) Open Camera -
This is another camera which has Good detail, but image taken by Cyanogen camera is having more level of detail than this .. This gave image size of 8 MB ( The highest)
5) Fianlly Stock Camera - Smart ON
This is the fastest snapper among all the camera apps i have tested, but the level of detail is way lower, there is severe image smoothing going on ( same as Camera Fv5,Footej camera) , the image size is 2 MB
i decided there is something Wrong with Smart ON and OFF
so i took samples with ON and OFF , but the resulting image smoothening is similar, the smart ON mode took better exposure control than OFF mode, image sizes are same
Verdict : Open camera, and Cyanogen Camera are atleast overcoming SOME limitations by Lenovo , thereby causing better images than Other cameraapps that i have tested today .. but Color Composition is same in every APP , Brightness and exposure may vary depending on my Touches, but its least to bother..
Lenovo Stock camera app always takes images with lower exposure levels,thus resultant image is Pale
I prefer Cyanogen Camera as its giving more detail,with out smoothening the image aggresively..

I like camera FV5 , you know you can go into settings and adjust image sharpness and if you save as PNG you get less smoothing than saving as jpg , but file is a lot bigger . . I'll post a few photos using different camera apps when i get time

Same here... can't get it to Work
Help please!

These are photos I took with open camera. I edited them with auto filter from Google photos as they seemed dull without it. P.S You have to root the phone for CyanogenMod apps.

Yes I think so. The interface is the same but the photos seem to be better

Big shout out and thanks to @zeroprobe who made this possible. Based this mod on his tweaks.
Features:
- Bitrate 1080p = 40mBit/s
- Bitrate 720p = 40mBit/s
- Bitrate Slow Motion = 60mBit/s
- Object Tracking + HDR + Effects for 1080p_60fps, QHD and UHD
- Phase Detection AF for 1080p_60fps
- Zoom in Slow Motion
- Removed unnecessary Pro-Lite Mode [No more doubled "pro" option in camera modes]
- Removed Stickers
- JPG Quality 98%
Installation:
- Clear Data and Cache of the Camera App
- Make a BACKUP
- Install the zip from TWRP
- Check if second pro-mode option is gone to verify the install
Installation [ODEX / Renovate]:
- Go to data/app/ and delete the "com.sec.android.app.camera-1" folder
- Reboot into TWRP - flash the zip
- Go to system/priv-app/SamsungCamera7 and install the .apk
Disclaimer:
This is tested on a Galaxy S7 Flat running KHONGLOI S8 Port. This does NOT work for S7 roms as the camera app is different. It MAY run on the S8 but since I dont have the money to upgrade I cant test it.
I had working 1080p Slow motion on the Galaxy S7 Camera but can not get it to work with the new version. Still working on that.
S8 Port ROMs only!

Very nice to see someone else who has modded the camera :good:
Let me make some suggestions:
- There is no reason to increase 1080p to 80mbit/s, because you won't see any more details than on 30mbit/s which seems the culprit (default is 17mbit/s)
- Slow motion modded to 240fps on 1080p sounds promising but you miss to tell us the bitrate
- JPG quality at 100% will only double the size of the pictures taken but do not eliminate any loss in detail <- this is only produced due to aggressive postprocessing (oversharpening). Set it to 98% instead and you will have smaller files with identical quality to 100% (default is 96%)
- Maybe you will find a switch in the apk to turn off postprocessing completely (for taking pictures), then we will be able to take jpeg in raw quality and just had to eliminate noise on high ISO
- Maybe you should try to get S8 camera apk running on our S7. This will be interesting due to new (real) HDR mode

Sadly can not get 1080p slow motion working anymore on the new camera. Seems like they linked the resolutions to fps somehow.

Thanks for you mod dude, BTW do you think that's possible remove the horrendous post-processing effect on frontal camera (even with all beauty **** tuned off you can see some makeup effect)

i have released it on telegram channels(Superman and darkSide) as for now, got even aqua mode make it working, and added in settings quick launch with home(removed useless power)
I will release it here maybe tomorrow or on saturday.... works only on Superman tho, due to framework.jar mods

Why don't you make a bounty thread ? It will be lot easier of all people to contribute there. We want a perfect google camera with pixel 2 as model alsong with pixel 2 algorithm with all things working. Also one more thing can a developer implement the same potrait mode as pixel 2 with dual pixel technology of s9. I am taking about rear camera potrait of pixel 2 which blurs the background way way more than the front camera algorithm

If you need portrait mode, maybe this apk will work on s9+ too.

It's free and supports HDR capture on S9/S9+ as part of tech preview.
All you need to do is enable HDR capture mode in options.
Results are stunning both GCAM and LR camera and they both make far better HDR photos compared to Samsung stock app.
I have stable version of GCAM 5.1.018.177470874 but color tinting is ruining the low light photos. This is not a problem with LR cam.

Thanks! You can enable HDR Support under Technology Previews and within the camera view you can make the switch. I will try this today. It looks good so far

The only issue I found so far is that it always uses the camera primary rear camera with f/1.5 regardless of the lightning conditions. Same issue as with GCAM.

Which settings should be used for "non portrait" version mentioned in OP? Camera opens but shows a blank screen. Any changes to settings makes app close

It`s working for both front and rear cameras (with active HDR too). I have tested literally every option including video and everything works ok and save correctly.
But for some reason even if full 24MP are selected in the settings I only get 8MP pictures which is really frustrating. I`ll continue my search for better working variant.

I'm using Google Camera Idan 1109 ver. 3.2.9 previous SG7Exy_v8 (exynos).
It is important that don't use a flashlight, just turn it off and after install reboot the phone.
Only one custom camera app works. Stock and one custom that's all.
My conclusion even the phone has a 24mpx the camera works terribly.
I have xioami 4x and it bits this A7 2018 as hell in google camera photo compare.
I don't know why the 24mpx camera is so weak.

Does the portrait mode works for you? For me it reboots the phone.

It`s working alright. Both for rear and for the front camera. Also with or without flash, with or without hdr. Also with burst series (taking pics as fast I can press the button).
As I said in my previous post I tested every single option to see if it`s really stable and at least for me everything works really stable.
The only problem is that it doesn`t save them as 24MP even if it is set in the options. It`s always 8MP size.

Strange. My phone reboots every time I select the portrait mode. Did you change any configs?

Nothing aside in the settings you can see in the screenshot in my earlier post.
The only thing I did may be differently before installation was to turn off the hdr in the build in camera app as per advise from somewhere. After that I went and turn it on and there were no problems at all. So now I have normally working samsung camera app and the gcam one. I can switch whatever I want in the apps and there are no problems.
I also have another camera app - CameraZoomFX (paid) with turned on Camera2 API and it also work ok with every available setting. I have even used them all at the same time to test what would happen - well nothing really. Everything works ok.

Did you enable camera2api on your phone is yes. How?

Btw yesterday I have tried many other versions for exynos cpus but only GCam_5.1.018.177470874.41362666__N6_1.8.apk worked ok all around.
Most of the other apps crashed on the start or I got to the options but the apps crashed few minutes after that.

What app is this from?

I have already wrote it? Camera Zoom FX Premium https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom , but I think that the free version would also let you select this option.
Aside from gcam and camera zoom I am currently testing few other apps:
HD Camera Pro (paid)
LG camera 7.1
Camera FV-5
CameraMX
Open Camera
After more than 700 pictures taken side by side with each app I have come to the conclusion that as for sharpness, details and balanced light HD Camera Pro is the best for indoors and Camera Zoom FX for outside day and night photography.
This ordeal took me over a week to do but was worth it.
The only problems with all these apps is that none of them supports the wide camera, it`s only available in the integrated samsung camera app.
I still hope for some time in the future we will got our hands on fully functional Gcam port with wide camera support. And I think that it would beat all of the above apps. I hope it would happen sooner than later.

I think the same. I hope Samsung will fix this. Is it possible to disable bokeh effect? I hate it because details are terrible

Just install the APK or root is necesary to install API?

I cant open Gcam in my A 7 2k18 what to do ? Every time i tap to camera icon it say camera keep stoping close app !

@Kalpsmart7 I somehow missed your post so I apologize for the late reply.
This is my way of fixing the problem.
Go into the apps section to the gcam app and force close it.
Then clear the cache for the app.
Then turn off HDR into the main camera app.
After that start the gcam app - it should start working normally.
Then you can go into the main camera app and turn on HDR again as it would not cause any more problems.
But as I said in my earlier posts although you can set the resolution at 24MP the end result will be in only 8MP.
I don`t know the reason for this problem but for now it`s like that. If I find other working port I`ll test it again.
