Hi folks!! I just want to share with all of you a new app for all nexues phones from N5. It take photos with a resolution of 48,8MP on our lovely N5X!! I'm not part of the development of the app nor have any relation with the team so, any thank or contribution goes to the developer. It's on the Play Store here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anforapps.camerasuperpixel and have another thread on N5's forums.
Thats cool, this really makes more detailed pictures. Very good for static pictures of landscapes.

Sounds like interesting. I will try it, thanks for sharing.

Tested this app, hopefully it gets more updates. You can tell from photo size that it's doing the job haha
Nice I'll try ?

I compared this app to Google Camera to check if this 48.8 MP resolution make any sense at all. IMHO, it doesn't.
You are welcome to check my comparison below.

Hi,
I'm one of the developers of the app. Thanks for the pics!
The quality varies according to the number of photos the app can mix correctly (from 1 to 8). You can activate "Debug mode" setting inside the app to check it, we are working hard to improve speed & quality. Thanks for the feedback!
New version:
Hi, we have just released a new version of the app that fixed a focus problem on rear camera...
0.9.2
Fixed autofocus issue (better focused rear camera pics)
Compatible with OnePlus 2
Compatible with Sony Xperia Z5

I've already tested 0.9.2 on my N5X.
Using debug mode i made a quick comparison, here it is.

I think there are two needs:
- reduce moirè effect
- reduce color noise

Thanks a lot for the samples! quality of the final photo depends on the number of images (max 8) of the burst the app can mix correctly. You can check this if you enable the "Debug mode" inside the app. We are working to improve quality and speed.
About the color noise, is this problem happening frequently? This is the first time I see this problem...
So it takes 8 photos and then try to squeeze the most pixel of it?
Maybe this project could also help to you (upscaling by using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks)
http://waifu2x.udp.jp/
WOW it works, thanks!
Resolution is ideed supersampled, BUT picture qualiry is worse than the stock camera. Exposure is off, many color artifacts and there are in fact less detail than in pictures shot with the stock app. Really cool idea though, hope it improves with updates. N5X.
I don't see better quality.
However, maybe you can consider that each image in the burst shot will be of a different focus?
This way, various objects (far and close) will stay sharp.
I already think about take some pictures and put them in one and there it works ! Good job!
Look at these 3 pictures to see the difference when you zoom.

Colour noise may be to the loss of HDR.

When HTC and Samsung came out with burst camera in their quad core devices we were all excited by one of the camera feature "Burst shot mode"
But now thanks to Spritefish we can now have the same experience on our Android devices and you don't need to have the One X or S3
Fast Burst Camera has made its way onto the Play Store and it does exactly what we were looking for. Simply hold down the button and you can snap up to 30 frames in a single second if your device allows it. The free version works just fine, but has a few ads which can seem intrusive. For $4, you can buy the pro version which unlocks some additional features such as auto-focus and lighting settings. View the video below to see some real life experiences with the application and see if it could help you take some neat shots.
Note : due to the high speed, pictures are not taken in the highest resolution possible.

Great app! Does it take pictures in full quality though?
With that kind of pic resolutions, I might be better off by just shooting a video and extracting those frames manually afterwards.
Used the app on my galaxy note, I am amazed by its ability. Just the image quality needs improvement. I tried the lite version though, anyone see any difference in the pro version?
When I read the portal news piece I was anticipating a tool to take rapid fire full resolution pics. While my G2X doesn't have a dedicated camera processing chip but it is still a dual core Tegra phone. I was disappointed to continue reading and discover it was about an app I've had on my phone for nearly a year. Don't get me wrong, I really like the app but it wasn't what I was expecting. Kinda bummed because the stock ROM camera software was pretty good and could do six photo bursts at 2MB but the ROM sucked monkey balls. Still recommend fast bust camera a long a you have plenty of light.

lower the resolution and it wont lag
and that app is made for high quality devices
The burst speed is incredible, no lag but the resolution is very low (800*480 insead of 2000*1600)
Envoyé depuis mon Blade
Yeah 800*480 with no lag really isn't impressive nowadays and the pictures are useless at that resolution.
Nice app. It would be great if we could adjust the shutter speed manually.

Note that this will give you a bad result, as the video is compressed and ripping pictures from this compressed stream will give pictures with compression artifacts in them.

This app was the free app of the day on Amazon last year, it is in no way new.
I used it for a while but image quality is not the best. Improve image quality and I may be tempted to give it another try.

Thanks for the app!
Popular ports of the Pixel 2’s Google Camera bring Google’s post-processing technologies to a wide range of high-end devices. It took a few iterations, but the most recent releases support lens blur, bokeh adjustment, and high-resolution video recording modes on phones such as the OnePlus 3, the Samsung Galaxy S8, and the LG V30.
This week, XDA Senior Member miniuser123 fixed a niggling issue with Exynos-based devices: Portrait mode. His modified Google Camera app gets portrait mode — the camera effect that blurs out your selfie’s background and brings your face into focus — to smartphones with Samsung’s in-house Exynos processors, which include the international editions of the Galaxy S7, S8, and Note 8. With the app installed and a few tweaks applied in the Settings menu, it’s seamless — albeit a bit slower than devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chips. And for now, it only works on the rear-facing camera.
Here’s how to get it up and running: Once you’ve installed miniuser123’s Google Camera APK, apply this configuration in the Settings menu:
Model: Nexus 6
Portrait mode on all models: on
camera.af.debug.show: off
camera.faceboxes: on
V6 :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zycetD_48ZsD9qu2gkw81hG9Xs0qzc5P/view?usp=sharing
Changes vs. V5:
-fixed bug which caused hdr+ shot failure sometimes!
-attempted to fix HDR+ portrait mode (can be activated by disabling portrait ZSL mode).
-added some description to "HDR+ parameters". For example: 8/10 burst, 1500 MB means: HDR+ operates with 8 shot bursts. Portrait mode (ZSL) operates with 10 shot bursts at most. Estimated total memory usage: 1500 MB (including camera2 api buffers).

No dice, neither version 1.1 or 1.2 works, v1.1 dosn't give any changes in portrait mode or HDR+ and version 1.2 error out with " can't connect to camera"

Hi
The camera on Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is the best imo, and been working great for me.
- Ive been using Lightroom to edit my photos taken by the stock camera app. Never really used the camera app from Lightroom, but I tried it yesterday and it is absolutly amazing when shooting in DNG (RAW) and Professionel mode, where you are able to use manuel control.
Anyone else who has experience with the proffesionel mode in Lightroom with success?
The main question is; in Lightroom you are able to choose HDR photos , and sincs the stock camera app on Pixel 2 use HDR+ as default, I am wondering if anyone has some experience with whether there is a difference between these?
And does any know how it works with Camera HAL HDR+ turned on and using HDR in Lightroom?
Johnny
I got my pixel 2 after the new years holiday. I did some testings with both default camera's normal/ hdr+ / hdr+ enhanced and Adobe Lightroom app raw format, in different lighting conditions. So far I would say without post production and editing, Pixel's default camera app gives everything you need. However there's some raw/dng shots I took with Adobe Lightroom look nicer than google's camera app after editing work done in Camera Raw. I can post some samples if you are interested.
I've been using Lightroom extensively on my iPhone X and the quality of the images (even in JPG) is leaps and bounds ahead of the stock app.
For my recently bought Pixel 2, the experience has been very bad so far. It's five times slower, the quality seems to lack a little and several options are not present or implemented in a worse way than on iOS.
I did not find a way to use the new HDR API (you can activate it in the developer options) with Lightroom yet. The build-in HDR function looks like crap imho.

]Hey guys,
I have been quite busy lately, so this is a brief comparison.
My Pixel 2 took a couple of shots with default camera app in regular, hdr+ and hdr+enhanced modes. If you look at the metadata screenshots, you will find it in the application field, it says:
"walleye-user 8.1.0 OPM1.171019.013 4474084 release-keys" - regular mode
"HDR+ 1.0.177471000z" - HDR+
"HDR+ 1.0.177471000n" - HDR+enhanced
Apprently HDR+enhanced mode merges multiple exposures and create a final result contains the best dynamic range and exposure with good amount of high lights and shadows.
see the back lit tree for reference.

For Adobe lightroom, I took both regular dng (raw) and hdr dng(multiple exposures raw data merged, similar to "merge hdr" feature in the new desktop Camera Raw plugin) In this case the lighting is quite dramatic and tricky, for the same example you will see that the data captured in regular dng isn't big enough to restore the over exposed sky, but the hdr dng which doubles in file size is able to. ( I will upload full res images later to google photos if you want to compare lightroom hdr raw vs. google camera hdr+enhanced)
but most cases lighroom's regular raw dng is able to give you the same results as google's hdr+ enhanced. see this ocean view. The overexposed sky and under exposed trees are fully restored
when i compared photos from lightroom and default camera app, there's not much difference between processed dng files and HDR+enhanced mode. See screenshots of the ocean - dngs are better in a way that they bring up more details in some shadow areas
more examples will be posted soon. I'm having a problem - I forgot which dng files are untouched straight out of pixel 2, without manual adjustment applied.
Great threat/post, thanks so much! LR on Pixel 2 hdr dng is such a hog, it's unbelievably slow, but I think its the only way to shoot hdr+ dng on the Pixel 2, am I right? I've tried camera nx but while it makes dng files and the previews looks hdr I can't ever get them looking hdr-y, they just look like standard one-shot raw files and no app on windows seems to display tue hdr data, even LR classic cc. Would love some more info / posting on this, and any sample files named with what they are, as I can't tell from a couple of your screenshots.
Thanks so much for this! Have you tried camera nx (7.2 ver works on pixel 2 from december 17, anything more recent crashes on ppening. Also, Manual cam dngs?

Hello @Arnova8G2, I personally have the device and I am willing to give some time for the development as G7 doesn't have enough devs. I already have the tools, I know programming, but the only problem is I don't know where to start. Have tried looking at the log but it seems to be hard for me to trace it inside smali. The app closes immediately.
My objective is to make your GCam port or other's dev port to make it work in our device. I don't plan to add settings and such (but I can add WIDE angle switch).
APK use: N6PbsgfixPortrait-GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2.apk (See log)
Thank you very much. I hope you can help me and the G7 community.

APK use: N6PbsgfixPortrait-GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2.apk (See log)
Thank you very much. I hope you can help me and the G7 community.

thanks a lot for your interest in developing for LG G7. i really hope others would follow suit
LG G7 has one of the best dimensions. Not too big, not too small. Right in between the smaller flagships (~70cm) and the bigger ones (~75cm). But it is so sad to see that this section here for LG G7 is like dead. I was considering to buy it and then flash the google camera (and maybe another ROM). But apparently the community is quite small. What a pity.
Are you planning to port NightSite feature from Pixel?
There is a fu24 version which is based on cstark27 t2 version. It just adds a bit more options.

@LameMonster82 have you tried any of the newer versions with this phone yet? Just wondering which one people have confirmed working before swapping from the original defcomg apk on this thread.

When I use this version, I can't take pictures with the 'rear' camera. I press the button but it won't snap anything.
I can record video fine.
I can take pictures with the "selfie" front camera.
But why not with the rear one? It just refuses to take a picture.

Have you set the HDR+ icon to On instead of Auto mode? That usually does the trick.

Have you toyed with the Resampling Method option under ''Experimental''? I have and there doesn't seem to be any change for me here. The long press switching camera add on works like a charm though

In addition to the changes in the setting already mentioned by Skullpluggery, I would recommend the following - speacially when using Cstark's...4.2t version:
Leave the HDR+ ON and not HDR+ Auto on main camera screen
Exposure time: Super Slow (this should reduce the noise greatly in many different indoor situations)
Frame count: Lowest (unfortunately any other upper frame count will render the shutter speed awkwardly slow)
Model: Maintain Nexus 6, but Pixel II XL (Marlin) also seems to work fine
Developer options tab - camera.diet_burst: check, camcoder.h265: check, camcoder.fastswitch: check
One more thing, not sure if it's only me, but HDR+ is not working for the selfie camera on any of the 3 suggested mods.
Just to be clear, this is just what worked for me - LG G7 running International OpenSource Northern Europe official ROM.

Hi,
I tried setting HDR to on and it still didn't take a picture with the rear camera
if i spam pressed the picture button, it would just get greyed out until i closed and reopened the app
I can try again but I'm really frustrated and stressed out right now with too many problems not relating to the phone.

see my post above. Maybe that can help - model set to Nexus 6 vs Pixel II XL.
try clearing the data of the app first on apps management and then work on the configs.
I'm trying the latest one, but it is super slow, also the shutter button stays gray as well

Now this, this really is something. Never have we had an Open Source camera that does reliable post processing. Congratulations on you and the team! Incredibly excited to see where this will be going, as the only other open source option was Open Camera, and to say that the UI was lacking would be an understatement. Are there any plans to introduce Video support with the same level of manual controls?
I tried it on my Redmi Note 9 Pro (joyeuse) running an Android 10 GSI and I'm impressed by the interface and features. It recognizes and switches successfully to three of the four sensors on the back. However, the UI is slightly compressed, leaving a gap at the bottom and making the preview look like a 16:9 image compressed to 4:3. That being said, the final images look great and I'm excited to try it out in different scenarios. I've attached two images with a banana for scale to see exactly what I mean.
Once again, thank you for working on this and I'm excited to see how you'll be improving the app!

Thank you for your feedback, but we really need new developers right now
Video with manual mode is planned, but not quite the same as in mcpro24
App didn't work for me on my Xperia 1 mark II, it automatically close itself

Is the update regularly uploaded on GitHub Releases Page too?
Photon vs Gcam. Both are taken in HDR.
Somehow the result is too bright and the file size is almost 3 times bigger than Gcam.

Snap from lineageOS opens quicker
Photon takes too long loading due to goggles suggested launch screen, please add option to shorten duration or disable completely,
