Boot Loop Mess - General Questions and Answers

Hey everyone, so i'm currently holding a what i suppose is a soft-bricked Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 (5.5) 6045K, let's flash back and see what happened.
I was intrigued by all the privileges root access offered, so after a quick google search, i decided to root my Android 5.0.2 using Kingroot, and the root was successful, i then head back to google to see what i can do with this type of access, and i read about an app called Network Spoofer, i liked its description and decided to download it off chrome, yes i did get a warning that it might contain malware, but that was a bit too common to really care about (yeah stupid me). I downloaded and installed it, but when i tried to open it, my phone restated, and it couldn't boot past the alcatel onetouch smart move logo. I tried to wipe cache partition, i did a factory reset, nothing worked. I tried to look up more advanced solutions, but i couldn't get follow any of those tutorials, because first, USB debugging isn't enabled on my phone, my bootloader is locked, i don't have TWRP custom recovery and i don't have an sd card in my phone. Is there anyway to fix this ?

I actually just finished installing the stock ROM from this link https://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/general/restore-stock-rom-t3705074, using instructions from this link https://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/help/return-to-stock-firmware-recovery-t3216077.
It worked great! My phone is up and running.

I also had this problem but after about 2 hours i managed to update my phone: here how i did the update:
Just connect to internet then immediately disconnect from internet within 1 or 1.5 seconds the program just needs to confirm that there is an established connection, i used this (my own) trick and I successfully updated my LO3D froyo to GB using kdz
Keep in mind that you need to connect to internet only for 1 second then DISCONNECT internet
Good luck

Power off the phone and press Power + VOL Down + 3D as you usually would to get into recovery. From there you follow the steps to factory reset your device.

I was running GB rooted. No custom ROM just rooted.
I saw the update, so I wanted to start fresh. I reset the phone, installed the update (lost root, as expected), went to apply root with Megatron Root Exploit, and it would not allow me to obtain root. Kept getting an error about directory not found. Don't recall the exact error.
I am currently running the ICS update with no issues, but would like to be rooted as I am missing a few apps that require root.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am still a bit of a noob. I have only rooted once.
It appears form the link you posted that this is installing a custom rom. That is not what I am looking to do. Previously I was running GB, stock, just rooted to be able to freeze some apps and use a few apps that required root. That is all that I am looking to do at this point too.
ICS is loaded and running fine. Is there a way to get root back with out flashing and installing custom roms? or is this something that the hasn't been figured out yet?
Thanks again for your time and patience with me

so what rom you are on? ICS or GB?
if you are on ICS
than only follow the Root steps there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191698&highlight=baseband
How to root:
1. Download Su_Bbox_1.20.2_gazhead_signed.zip and save it somewhere in your SD card
2. Use OS_Hacking's tool to install Wkpark's v1.25a bootloader (read his instructions and install OMAP driver first). After this step, your boot-up LG logo will be silver!
3. With the same tool install a GB recovery. (ICS recoveries are only for xbsall's ported SU760 ROM, they can't read your internal SD)
4. Boot into recovery
5. Flash the zip from step (1) and reboot
Root?

This looks like I have to bootload a custom rom and go back to gingerbread? Excuse my noobness you can see I just registered to ask this question. Also load a different baseband from the V30 I am on now?
I finally got ICS and dont want a custom ROM like tmoca asked.

Rooting stock MM? [Resolved]

Is there a rooting method for MM? I've looked through the threads and it's all about the MM custom roms which I don't have. I'm using upgraded MM OS. I tried to downgrade to LP using the mobile Q and it stayed on MM and reset my phone to default ((lmao)). I'm not exactly a wiz, but decent enough at this but I love this phone and want to use it to it's full potential.
I'm on the cricket service using idol 5.5 ((model 6045i)) if it matters. If I missed a thread that I should have read, forgive me and just point me in that direction. Thx!
Happy rooting!
You may have to downgrade to stock lp first.

Hii Audit, thanks for replying!

Ohkay, so nothing worked to downgrade MM to LP stock
Panasonic Eluga wasn't able to detect the device although I've installed drivers and reset the pc and phone. Nothing worked. The link you provided for me helps but didn't work for me to allow me to downgrade. But thx for taking the time out to help me! Any help is appreciated.

Did you put the phone in download mode by any chance?
If not, I believe it's Power + Up/Down volume at the same time.
I went ahead with the Panasonic Eluga software, took some work for it to detect my phone. But got it to downgrade to 5.0 and flashed the AlekOS ROM with no problems!

I am also on stock MM on cricket idol 3. Will try the panasonic downgrade to 5.0. Did you also have to install the hybrid bootstack to get alekos to work or just the standard root/unlock bootloader then install rom ?

I also have a cricket 6045O and installed panasonic eluga. After I get alekOS/FlyOS installed do i need to install any cricket ( usa) modem to get 4g LTE? (i imagine the panasonic modem is not compatible or is the modem built into the new ROM)?

no I got LTE perfectly fine after I used the Panasonic method to downgrade to 5.0. It's usually the ROM that causes u to lose LTE . CM12.1 ROM by The Marionette is the best to use and guarantee to keep ur LTE speeds if nothing goes wrong during the flashing process ^.^ Plus its amazingly stabled and fast.
To get into download mode, press and hold volume up+volume down+power.
hi, I'm desperately looking for a method to root stock MM for the 6039 model... any idea?
Thank you so much
bouldou, I suggest to you try using the Panasonic Eluga Software to downgrade from MM to LP. As far as im concern, there's no way to root MM yet. Just make sure ur PC download ur alcatel's drivers before doing so.

I had trouble getting mobile q to detect my phone the first time, took about 10 tries putting it into different boot modes before it was finally properly detected.
Once you get it to work the first time, it'll work without even entering that download mode. Eluga is the same.

Got it working on the note 7 port Rom
I'm on a Note 5 and going to give this a try using my version of TWRP. Will edit this post and report findings!
Able to boot after flashing the first .zip. Always got boot loop previous after flashing TWRP but not flashing root! Thanks for the solution!
Basically the minimum I want is the ability to remove my boot sound and update my hosts file. This lets me do that but otherwise be stock. Good enough. Wish I had xposed, root, but still Android Pay and PGO without reboots but that's ok.

Hello, I would like your help.
First of all, sorry for my poor English.
I installed the Root Switch to use Pokemon Go, but my phone crashed and rebooted while I played. After that, I was not able to activate root again, including the SuperSU app says my cell does not have Root.
Does anyone know how I should proceed? Would redoing root solve my case?
Thank you.

It is a nice phone. You can install TWRP it is tested on this ROM
I got this phone week ago. I use it 5 days, and I like it. One small question - how to remove "NOMU" label from back cover? Any ideas? I afraid to scratch cover.
I got the S30 a few days ago, but it does not pass Google SafetyNet. It fails with the message: 'CTS Profile Match: False'
This means that I can't use Android Pay (despite an image on the Nomu site showing the phone being used with Android Pay) and also my daughter can't play Pokemon Go on it, because that too relies on Google SafetyNet verification to authenticate.
Very disappointing and I feel that I was mislead by the manufacturer.
Is there any way to rectify this situation?
Thanks.

No, I haven't done anything with it. Everything is the same as when I first used it, no root, nothing.
I noticed in the 'About Phone' section that it says 'Custom rom built' at the bottom. A friend of mine said that custom roms will fail Safetynet and not allow me to use Android Pay. Is this correct?

Many phones including Samsung have the same problem as you described.
You can try to install z GP root checker or supersu and check if there is a trace of a root. There is an option remove root.
custom rom can suggest that it is rooted even though it is not.
You can try to apply new ROM if first method will not help

SuperSU says that no root is detected.
Do you have to root the device to apply the new rom?

It sees ROM as modified.
You can flash ROM without root rights
Use SP flash tool, you have it in OP.

My screen is just black now after I flashed the new rom, though you can still hear the musical intro for the phone when it is starting up.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I just did that and it is still the same, blank screen.
I can hear the music as it starts up and I can hear the sounds if I press up or down on the volume rocker, so it is like it is loading something but I just cannot see it.

I used the ones from the original post you made.
ROM 20160930_s12v55_mle-3m_nomu for S30 and SP Flash Tool 1552.
Also, by the screen being blank I mean that I can see that it is turned on, but it is like an illuminated black.

Need help w/root

So I just purchased the Honor 8 and I have been trying to root it because I'm not a fan of the lack of options that were available on my Nexus 6p. However everything I have tried with adb, twrp, kingroot and nothing works. I'm not that advanced with root knowledge (yes I still want to root). To be honest I'm at the point where I would pay someone to chat online with step by step instructions during the rooting process! I'm just so frustrated.

A little more information would help, what model are you on (FRD/ Al??), which firmware.
Essentially though, update device via OTA, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP via adb then root( flash SuperSU via TWRP).
There are several guides for all these steps available.
It is however essential that you use the proper TWRP and SuperSU found in the development section.
Unfortunately there is no root method for locked bootloaders
Guide :fingers-crossed:
Model/firmware

The model is FRD-L04, build FRD-L04C567B385, EMUI version 5.0
If your bootloader is unlocked get your TWRP and SuperSU/Magisk from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71265571&postcount=1
and flash it.
For everything else you need to be a little more specific as to what problem you have exactly

ok so my issue is that after I flash twp and try to reboot phone it sends me to the device is unlocked and cant be trusted screen. it only lets me go to the OS or huawei erecovery and not TWRP. if it boots into the os and I try to go to recovery it wont boot into any recovery
So I finally got my device rooted but now my question is, does anyone know of a ROM that works for the FRD-L04 model? I'm wanting to install some different themes but can't seem to do it without a ROM. Not to mention most of the cool things you can do on a rooted device need one as well. Any idea's?
