GUYS sometimes my signal lost when im in a road,,,i use SMART and TALK n TEXT... i dont know what to do... ANY SUGGESTIONS guys??
IM FROM PHILIPPINES ( asia ) currently using MIUI_XT and sometimes i switch to CM7... THNKS
well from what i can deduce from what you said
it works fine normally, you just lose reception when you are in transit
that would not be surprising for areas with fewer towers, or poor reception
i don't think flashing a baseband will make any difference, but it's something you can try
Good morning.
I have a problem ..
I have a Nexus S I9020A and installed the ICS of the beam, but not really like.
But now the problem is that sometimes I get no network! and I can not make calls or send messages ..
already moved to the radio KF1 and this happens ..
Last night everything was ok, but today morning it was with this problem ..
Rebooted and is now working ..
what can I do?
Now I have the new rom of oxygen with the kernel of the franc.
Thank you!
Well, now I went to an area where the network is low, and sometimes do not even have.
Turns out I've been moving in the part where I choose the network automatically or manually, and now when I have network, I get no service, and it appears over a triangle with an exclamation point to say that the network tmn is not available, or something like this ..
I too would like a fix... I just bought the phone coming from a vibrant thinking, sprint, 4G, Google nexus s, hell ya! The minute I left I noticed service was surprisingly low compared to my vibrant. I figure throw a custom rom, kernel, modem package would fix it.. nothing. Full 3g at home on the vibrant... lucky to see 2 bars (in fact I haven't EVER seen 4 bars on here anywhere) . Pretty close to returning it... I thought the now network meant faster speeds... just a catch phrase I guess.... I've flashed the 3 radios posted and all three didn't change my signal at all....

Hey guys, I haven't done anything to my phone but all of the sudden, the data and phone signal basically quit working. I have a very hard time getting texts, phone calls etc to go though but it will eventually (usually takes a while or a few tries) and as far as data goes, I basically have no connectivity at all unless I'm on wifi. It says 3g or H every once in a while, but it's really slow and usually doesn't stay for long. I'm running CM9, and like I said before I didn't change anything that I'm aware of that would have caused this problem. It worked fine before, and it just stopped. Ideas? Thanks

have you called your provider? maybe its on their end.
I'm having the same exact problem... it shows my 3g it shows all my bars but instead of the bars being colored or the 3g be in color is gray. Also I cannot get back conectivity until I restart the phone. Does anybody have an idea what this is?
Are you on AT&T? I was not having any problems until a certain point in time, and I didn't change or do anything to incite them. I'm not even getting calls anymore, I'll just get all my texts in a wave every few hours. My data is useless, it won't stream, or load web pages, and my phone is frequently saying "Emergency calls only" when I'm sitting at my freaking house (which normally has full 3g and cell signal and is very fast)
This just started occuring with my 9020a on AT&T the first week of March. I switched SIM cards twice, spent about an hour on the phone with ATT, and sent the device back to Samsung who rolled back the software to 2.3.4 and the Radio to UKE1.
I still have the issue. Samsung says its not them. ATT does nothing. It;s liek the phone just stopped working, started dropped calls, missing calls, and the internet connection sucks. I have an iphone for work through ATT as well and have no issues with signal.
ANy help is appreciated.
Hmm
Make sure you have the right, most up to date settings for APN, and flash original radios. if it still doesn't work, make sure you have the i9020A, which has the at&t 3g antenna, not i9020T which has the T-Mobile antenna, vice versa.
Have you tried other radios for your device (make sure you flash the appropriate ones for your model)? Any signal info under Phone Information when dialing *#*#4636#*#*?

Sounds like you're having the exact same problem I am having. I switched sim cards, flashed different roms, etc and nothing. (although to be fair, after the new sim, things work better, but still not well) I'm about ready to pop my sim back in my craptivate and just go with that... or buy an iphone off of craigslist.

I am 100% sure I have the 9020a, but I don't know anything about APN and flashing radios. I have only ever flashed full roms before, so I wouldn't know where to look for the original radio.

I have not tried other radios. The signal info seems solid, sitting at my house, but the 3g is still horridly slow. It taked 15-30 seconds to load a webpage, even a pretty mundane one like google. Messages still come through in waves, and often won't send
About your APN, AT&T should provide you with the proper values to put in under Settings | Wireless & Network | More | Mobile Networks | Access Points Names.
If you are on ICS, they values should populate by themselves.
Can you try flashing other radios and see if you encounter the same problem:

Make sure you backup your EFS folder (and all data for that matter).
I had similar problems, they were related to turning 3g on/off with a APN widget while the phone had little signal. As soon as started enabling and disabling 3g on the android options everything was back normal.

the data works most of the time now it's just retardedly slow. I can't stream music even on low quality, nor can I watch youtube without leaving it for 5 minutes to buffer, pages take forever to load, and I was downloading a 6 meg app and it took 20 minutes to download whenI was leaving the phone alone and not moving. I got really sick of trying to fix it and finally gave it to geeksquad to send in to get replaced. sigh.
I have searched this forum, but couldnt find any thread with this specific issue, however there are some threads regarding the different modems available... have browser them but the sollution for me is still to find
Using nightly CM-12 with included modem, global OPO on the Telenor network in Sweden(2100Mhz for UMTS, dont have LTE on this SIM).
I installed CM12 as a troubleshooting-step after I tired using both the stock CM11s and CM11 nightlies. CM12 gave me the best signal strenght over all.
This thing is, I can get a good signal so the phone seems to be able to communicate with the cell-tower on the frequency used by the nerwork... but it is very unstable... Jumping from H/H+, from full to none signal-stenght. Also seems to change Cell IDs, this is even when the phone is stationary...
Even if I have an OK signal on H/H+, trying to use the dataconnection sometimes works, but often it would result in time-outs etc, even if the up/down arrows in the indication icon shows activity... Also sometime trying to use dataconnection when the signalindicator looks OK, it will drop to nothing... And speed-tests gives very poor results...
Dont really know much about how the physical layer for the mobile networks work, so dont know how to interpret this behaviour...
I have described these symptoms also in the modems-thread in the General forum, but having tried most of the modems, this is still the best ROM/modem combo...
Dont know if related, but using a WLAN-connection the HSPA cell connection is stable at around -103dBm... no flapping...
I feel that I have tried the most often recomended action with no appearant improvement, dont really know what to do now? Change modems, try to unlock additional bands... Any suggestions?
If any developer wants me to try any thing, or provide any more information I will try to do/supply that!
Update
Took the phone out to the local shopping center and got some surprising results...
Consistent -59dBm and around 20Mb/s downstream on UMTS.. So this beggs the question, why is it flapping up and down at home, where an old galaxy s3 mini sits comfortably at the same usable signal-strenght most of the time on the same network?
Is this a modem firmware thing, or antenna?
Weird issue I'm having on a G920i. In Settings -> About Device -> Status, the signal strength is being reported incorrectly. When I first boot the device, it will show accurately and will vary from -90 dBm to -100 dBm when I am at my house, which is consistent with every device I've ever owned. However, after 30-45 seconds, it will start reporting at "-113 dBm 0 asu" and it will simply stay there and will never change, even as I move about. The number of bars in the signal strength icon on the status bar will even change, but in the Status menu, signal strength simply stays at "-113 dBm 0 asu" permanently. Connectivity seems to be fine--I have no problems making calls, browsing the web, etc. The signal strength in the Status menu simply seems to revert to and stick at 113 dBm 0 asu with no explanation or other impact on the phone.
For what it's worth, I've tried both the New Zealand and Singapore AOD1 firmwares from Sammobile.com. Same problem on both. I'm on AT&T in the U.S.
Anybody else seeing anything like this?
Yes it seems both the g920i and g920f all have this problem. Every single device. Please get in contact with Samsung about it, the more people that complain the more likely it will be fixed.
@mupet0000 & @phositadc I've seen you guys in a few forums talking about the Galaxy S6 SM-G920I signal issues... Mine is the same! Swapped 2 phones already and they have awful lte reception... I was hoping a different modem/baseband would help but it looks like it doesn't....plus a few soft reboots as well what's going on? Have you guys experienced any reboots? Can this be fixed with a software update?
OK checked mine and its yes your right. -113 in status however if you type *#0011# in your dialer you'll see the better reception reported. Interestingly this did not happen when I was on the Cricket towers(At&t). I just switched to T-Mobile and I now have the -113 status. My speeds are great but I can't side-by-side compare the radios to anything to know if there is a real problem.

No reboots here. I flashed the aod3 modem last night and things seem a little better on AT&T. On the aod1 modem, I was not getting LTE in a bunch of places that I've always had LTE before. I know the g920i has frequency support for AT&T LTE bands, and I do get LTE, but I must say so far the experience has not been as good as other LTE phones I've had. Not sure if that's the modem firmware to blame or the hardware itself. Probably firmware.

Hey all, I'm in the UK and I have the SGS6 edge on the 3 network here. I use my phone for tethering at all times as I do not have wifi in the house. with my SGS5 before this I could easily run my PC , Tablet my son mobi and his gaming PC all at the same time with no issue. The S5 would run a full signal and load very quickly HD content.
My brand new S6 is disapointing singnal wise from straight out the box. I noticed my signal level fluctuating up and down but very rare dose it show a full signal level. and as for teathering I am finding it very hard to live with.
I will be suprised if Samsung sort this out with firmware. I just had a 150 MB firmware update yesterday and my signal level is the same.
I remember my Nokia N96 having this same fault, and although it was all over the internet back then, Nokia did nothing in all the firmware updates I had. I was going to sell my pristine 7 month old S5..... but I think I will hang on to it for now.
Hey guys, I am on the latest OTA released by Samsung (AOE3 built May 7th) and the problem is still not resolved. LTE signal still awful and LTE signal strength still -113. So far so bad. I have contacted Samsung again, and tomorrow I have a phone call with their support where they will remotely access my phone so I can show them the problem. I will show them and see how it goes, and I'll report back here.
I will make it clear to them that the signal strength is worse than my 2 year old S4, and I will demonstrate the incorrect signal strength value to the support agent. If they tell me it's a non issue or they make some silly excuse instead of investigating, I will simply sell the S6 and get another phone.
This is a huge issue and I'm disappointed that there aren't many people noticing this or reporting it to Samsung. The more popular the S6 gets, the more people will notice that their old phone holds a better signal.

I think it is a widespread issue... I always have 1 bar lte and under my signal status it say - 113dbm which is zero service... It never moves... I'm gonna try custom rom and see if that help but it obviously a antenna/modem baseband issue... Also someone mentioned it could be because the Galaxy S5 uses Cat 4 lte and the S6 uses Cat 6.....its very disappointing! Hopefully it gets fixed or I'll return to the S5...i really want to like this phone..... But Samsung is making it hard to
I don`t think there is anything wrong with the signal. even if I only have 1 bar the phone is perfect during calls and my LTE/4G download speed is even over the provided speed my carrier provides, I think it`s just a bug that it`s showing less signal then what it actualy has.

This is true. It's simply a bug that shows the wrong signal strength - mine shows -113 but I'll have 3 bars so that makes no sense. However, if you ARE getting a bad signal, that is a different issue altogether.
(btw I started a thread about this already several weeks back)
Spoke to Samsung on the phone, they didn't need to remote access my phone to see the issue. They had an S6 in their office and they told me they saw the signal at -113dBm just like mine. They say they have passed this onto the relevant team and hopefully it will be fixed in an OTA and I should stick to the United Kingdom BTU firmware (the correct firmware for my region).
We will see if this gets resolved. They definitely know about the problem now and have seen it with their own eyes, so I'm hopeful.

Ok.. Thanks... I already read through that thread too... Been trying to figure out if it was just me or alot of people..... Seems like the 920f is getting more updates that us.... 920I......The latest is AOD3 right? Today I'm gonna flash a custom rom for 920f and see if there is any change....
*edit* just checked Samsung live update... AOE3 was just released for 920I for TTT I guess is a country called Trinidad and Tobago... But that is the firmware I've been using.... Hopefully this will help... Let Ya guys know
*edit #2*...ok guys just updated to AOE3.... Bars still show low but the signal status is working and it's showing that I have a better signal than with *#0011*... The - dbm and asu is now extremely close to my S5... So in conclusion the signal is strong it just doesn't show it in the bars like previous Galaxy's
