New S7 Update Confusion... - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I just found a new firmware update (2017-10-01) for my S7 SM-G930F with product code BTU.
One site download is "G930FXXU1DQJ3_G930FOXA1DQJ3_BTU.zip," but the other site is "BTU-G930FXXU1DQD7-20170511091059.zip.
The first one seems correct, but the other has me perplexed.
No root
Knox has been tripped

Just update OTA?
Sammobile will show you your latest available ROM version which is G930FXXU1DQJ3 (2017-11-12)

Cant OTA when Knox is tripped. That's why I added that.
I'll check out Sam mobile. The date doesn't correlate with mine.

Yes that's the right date.
I still would like to know what the difference between the two zip files are.

No probs, updato.com is faster than sammobile
And samfirm tool here on XDA is fast too

Can you expand on, system status = custom?
Never mind. I figured this out.

Delete please

One last question. Should I flash the BL and CP file as well? Seems to me I read this
was not wise to do.

You should flash all 4 firmware files at the same time (BL, CP, CSC and AP) if you don't you can end up with different parts of your firmware being on different versions.
Use Home CSC if you don't want to wipe the phone.

Flash them all at the same time
As above, CSC = factory reset, HOME_CSC = No reset
If downgrading Android, reset is needed, as would be moving from custom ROM to stock etc (Custom status does not = custom ROM, just means system files have been modified)

how to flash this modem ... PLEASE!
modem is for 4,4 firmware
flash using Odin 3.09 and place modem.bin in the CP space in Odin
it may not take first time: see these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2324667 (do not autoboot and flash twice before booting)
this worked for me as per those instructions
are there any requirements before flashing this modem...ie, req new bootloader? etc? thanks

Modem works on MK6 bootloader.... not sure about older versions... you will have mk6 if you took the stock 4.3 update before rooting and such.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537495&page=251
From post 2505
Steps should be like this:
1. Start Odin 3.09 on your PC
2. Click CP button and browse for your GSM/LTE .tar file
3. Power phone off completely
4. Enter download mode (press POWER until vibrate, then press the VOL-DOWN button immediately, then VOL-UP to confirm)
5. Connect USB to phone+PC. Odin's ID:COM should then turn blue to show that it's seen the device
6. Click the Start button to flash

No luck. It won't stick. Tried flashing twice without restarting using Odin 3.09 and used the extracted modem.bin in the CP section.

I semi bricked on MDJ bootloader, gage hero advice is sound. Had to do a full return to stock via odin....18hrs. It would be helpful if we could also report our bootloaders we are using when we flash modems.. I'm on MDJ rogers network. Anyway I'm on MK6 modem. What's wrong with MK6? Your problem as near as I could tell from your posts was trying to install the new firmware on a 2 API Level old bootloader. Completely different.
[edit] looking back on it, looks like you blindly flashed the CP package on to what looks like KOT9H from your post history, without reading up on how to appropriately flash a mismatched modem.
Tried flashing this using odin but no luck. It wont stick. Any other method?

Please do a search on the forums for modem flashing for the i337m and follow those instructions. If you have trouble, please refrain from flashing the modem.
Unless you know what you are doing, you can cause all sorts of trouble for yourself.
Unless you can learn to do it through quick searches, You likely shouldn't be doing it.

Wifi Issue
Hey Guys,
I took the 4.4 update from Rogers using Kies as i was getting the custom error.
I took the NC1 Modem file to match my firmware as it didnt update when the OS updated and everything is working properly except for my Wifi which i cannot turn it on.
Now will the NON-HLOS fix this issue for me or will i need to re-install the OS
I tried to do factory reset, used odin to apply the modem file and do another factory reset.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks.
Hi I am new here as i was reading your post so yes non-hlos will fix ur wifi issue get a proper non-hlos that should match with NC1 MODEM...

Thank you for replying.
I am familiar with baseband flashing though my question was more related to the NON-HLOS partition. I've searched extensively for information about NON-HLOS only to see it labelled as a "WiFi fix" with no additional information. With this lack of information, NON-HLOS compatibility with older bootloaders is certainly not something that has been extensively discussed here or elsewhere.
In any case, I'm still after this information and was wondering if others have any insight.
Just updated to NC1 from MDJ (Bell) and can confirm everything is working great!
Thanks!

Flash firmware on new Galaxy S7 G930F

Hello everyone, my name is Andrea and i got a new Galaxy S7. I bought it from Hong Kong and it came with some Spanish Vodafone apps and one of them can't be removed. I was thinking of flashing a different firmware so I could get rid of these branded apps, but my concern is: will this void the warranty/trip the KNOX?
I would download the firmware from sammobile and using odin to flash it.
BTW I live in Australia, but I would be happy to install any firmware as long as it is not branded.
Thanks for your help.
Andrea
nope it doesn't trip knox..

What do you mean by "system untouched "?
I ment to ask if let's say Italian or UK firmware have more updates or developing.
Also, if flashing a stock rom doesn't flag the knox, is there a way manifacture or shop can know I have installed a different from original?
Thank you

Hi
untouched system is when is 100% stock (odin) or stock with systemless root ( phone thinks is still 100% stock) or with systemless xposed in either case you will still get OTA
Flashing stock roms with odin will not trip the knox bit , rooting yes
European rom may get updates earlier than Australians but i do think by much , they will not care if you flash a rom from a different country and if you worry about it you can always flash back the original firmware .....they will not know what you had before

Sammobile has a little guide:
Instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.11.1
Extract Odin ZIP file
Open Odin v3.11.1
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
Also you can read this thread is a little different because they use 4 files instead of one but basically the same

It all depends on what you want to do or need to do , flashing CSC may imply a factory reset , some times you do not want to do that.....AP will update the OS only
For a clean restore of phone all 4 parts flashing is recomended

The bootloader that is currently installed on your device probably won't allow downgrading to an older stock firmware, this is very common thing with Samsung devices.

You aren't understanding, it is the current bootloader itself that prevents flashing a downgraded bootloader. You can try flashing an older system.img but you can't flash anything that contains an older bootloader than the one you have.
There is no way to downgrade the bootloader to allow flashing TWRP or anything else custom.

This applies to a lot of Samsung devices, but, there are exceptions. You need to do some searching about your specific model number to verify whether this applies your specific device or not.

Bricked because I was high and forgot to do the Magick trick before flashing then had to take sammobiles f721u1 vzw 12 and flashed but still at 13 didn't downgrade , unbricked, tried Magick patch for sha256 fix but didn't work. No root. Sammobiles f721u1 is slower than my og f721u ..bvka which can only find for sale and shady at sammfrew.com

Get a fresh copy of firmware from here:
Firmware from SamFw
Or get it from the Frija Tool.
Get to Download mode and run Odin 3 on your PC (Download Samsung USB drivers in case it doesn't recognizes your device.)
Flash AP, BL, CSC, CP
Do not flash userdata
(Remember: Untick Auto Restart)

There's no firmware for free anywhere . Frija doesn't have sm f721u....bvka. and the new fw I have didn't downgrade my android when I flashed. Tried again and wouldn't root. Did Magick correctly. Think I have to wait.
Once you go 13 you can't downgrade

I'm going to try again with some new samfw files. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully it works. Still haven't found sm-f731usq.....bvka
That was the original firmware I had installed and have only seen it on an imposter sammfw site.
Going to do Magick and try again with and without patched Odin then will update
