I'm travelling from Brazil and I would like to buy Google pixel 2 on local carriers in Toronto, Canada.
I know they sell it with no term for a retail price but I'm afraid of being really locked. Tellus says they charge a fee of $50 to unlock. Do you know guys if it's necessary pay unlock fee in Canada? Is it really locked?

I am thinking about purchasing an SM-G930V through NewEgg from Santa Monica Wireless. The price is very good $499 new and no contract. I don't intend to root it immediately. Verizon offers an S7 phone, but they don't specify the exact model, for $199 with contract. I have an unlimited data plan and a 20% discount on service through my employer so the 2 year contract is not an issue. That may be a better deal if it is the same phone. I have a couple of questions:
Is the G930V just set up to run on Verizon out of the box or is this the same phone that I would get if I purchased directly from Verizon?
I am assuming either phone will have the Verizon bloatware installed. Am I correct?
The ad for the G930V (from NewEgg) says GSM is unlocked. Is that correct? Is GSM also unlocked if I buy the phone directly from Verizon? It doesn't specifically state on the Verizon web page. Unlocking anything seems way out of character for Verizon.
NewEgg says that it will work on ATT/T-Mobile after the APN is set up. Is this true for either phone? Again this seems out of character for a Verizon.
Will the software updates come from Samsung or Verizon?
The phone I really want is the everything unlocked. no bloatware G930U but it is just too expensive.

Hello. I am Emmanuel. I bought s8+ at Utah. With t-mobile carrier. And I did it with the installment plan. I haven't finished paying But will travel to Africa. And this is my only phone. There is no t-mobile service there. So was wondering if there was a way to unlock it. Before I left. :angel:

Good luck with that. You buy a phone on installments and want it unlocked in the first month..... Pay for the phone, then can you can do what you like with it.

I have just purchased a Pixel 3a which is locked to EE UK and I want to unlock it to use with another carrier. As I'm not an EE customer, how can I go about this? I called EE and they checked the IMEI but won't unlock it for me as it is still new and in contract. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

I'm guessing the price was good, and you will have a problem finding the person who sold it. The carrier is likely to blacklist the phone when the payments on the existing contact are not paid.
It will stay locked to EE until the provider's contract is satisfied. It should not have been sold to you without disclosing the carrier lock/contract. Either return it to the person who sold it, or pay off the carrier contract.

I know the owner (a non-technical relative) who wouldn't have known about the carrier lock, and I failed to research it thoroughly. EE confirmed they can only unlock it when it has more than 6 months old, so I'll return it, no problem. Shame, I wanted to keep it!
I purchased an att moto g stylus 2021 5g on eBay listed as unlocked. Now I have discovered the installment plan on att has not been paid and the phone can not be unlocked. The seller refunded my money and does not want the phone returned. Any suggestions as to how I can use the phone in Mexico? It is too good a phone to throw in the trash! Thanks for any help you can offer.
pay an unlocking website 30 bucks and that should get it unlocked.
