Hi i'm new here. and i need a little help.
lately i'm interested in buying the verizon touch pro 2 with the so called month-to-month plan since i will only stay here for a few months. i've read some posts here that, if i want vzm to actually unlock the gsm slot, i must stay in their network for at least 6 months. have i got it right?
if that's the case, is there other way i can let vzm unlock this phone for me? say, if a friend of mine has been a verizon user for quite a long time, can i let him request for the unlock code, although the phone is not from his contract?
thanks!
I am new to verizon. I just unlocked my phone with a company called UniquePhones. Cost was $20. This company got the code to me tonite in less than 20 min. I have 3G data on T Mobile and Edge on ATT. Will keep a TM card in for tethering.
Verizon stated it could not unlock for 60 days. This is to protect me against fraud.

Why not just buy one there? I have an unbranded Asian version from Malaysia that was Sim unlocked already and it didnt have the T-Mobile bloatware on it
been looking for a good and cheap unnlocking website for a while but no success so far:|
It's as simple as calling t-mobile and telling them you need to unlock it. Tell them that you're going overseas and need to have it unlocked to use on other carriers. I normally say that we're going on vacation and are going to use a pre-paid sim overseas. Then they send me an email after a couple of days with the unlock instructions + unlock code. I've done this 3 times with no problems.

This is correct. We will provide an unlock code to you free of charge with no questions asked. Just ask to be transferred to our Sim Unlock dept. and they will be more than happy to assist you.
oooo, i see isee, there is no a software to unlock this phone?
if this phone is already s-off, it will be unlocked ?
T-Mobile will only unlock the phone for you once they can verify that you are a T-Mobile customer, or you paid full price for the phone at one of their T-mobile branded stores and can fax them a copy of the receipt. I just went through all of this with them on Monday. If you cannot do either of those 2 things, they will not help you.
The only way to get it unlocked if you are not a T-mobile customer is an unlock service. I used a guy on ebay that unlocked 2 of them for me and sent me the code within 5 mins. He charged $24.95 per phone.

I got mine in a trade so I didnt pay out of pocket for it. Not sure what they retail for in NYC, more than a T-mobile one that's for sure since unlocked phones are usually a higher price
TMO rep told me they can't unlock the phone yet, I'll try again in couple weeks or so.
After spending a couple hours on the phone with T-Mobile trying to work out my data plan in the wee morning hours last week, I received the unlocking code for my Sensation accidentally. After going through all the hell to keep my old rate for my data plan, and finally succeeding, they asked "Will there be anything else Sir". I said "Yes, one more thing. Can I get the SIM Subsidy Unlock Code for my HD2? And being so tired and half awake, I might have given the wrong IMEI number, because the next day I received the unlock code for my Sensation and not my HD2.
I called back the next day and told a tech supervisor that they had sent the unlock code for the wrong phone. The women on the phone apologized and said they would send it without the 24hr wait, and I should receive it within 2hrs. But when receiving the Email from T-Mobile a couple of hours later, this was the response:
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have received your SIM Unlock Request. Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request at this time. This subscriber has received an unlock code within the last 90 days. Per T-Mobile Policy only one unlock code will be provided per active subscriber every 90 days. Please submit a new request 90 days after the last unlock code was provided.
No big deal. I at least got the Sensation unlock code and just paid $20 online for the HD2 code.
gave tmobile a call. they seem to not want to give out unlock codes. they told me that i had to either pay for the price of the phone, the full price, or i need to use the phone 40 days. also got an email like this -
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have received your SIM Unlock Request. Unfortunately, this subscriber is not eligible to receive the unlock code at this time. In order to be eligible, the subscriber must complete 40 days of active service. Please submit a new request 40 days after this subscriber was activated.

However keep in mind that if you're in a different country the SIM network unlock code will not work, it would only work if you're still within T-Mobile's network coverage.

Huh? That is what the unlock is for, to use your phone with a different countries network when there is no tmobile network. I do this when I go on vacation.

You will not get 3G/4G on AT&T with the T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G.

That is correct but I just called t-mobile to ask for unlocking my HTC Sense 4G yesterday and today I received an email from the Unlock Dept saying that they could not process my request for unlock right now because I had requested to unlock once within the past 90 days...bla bla bla...and please call us back 90 days after the last day you requested. I don't understand why t-mobile policy prohibit unlock requests within 90 days like that. I doesn't make sense at all. I would suggest to unlock your phone, or in my case the HTC Sense 4G, @ other unlock websites for $6.49 with REALLY NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

The t-mobile version, as well as the Asian & European version, won't work with AT&T 3G. The Canadian Bell version works with AT&T 3G, but it cost CAD550 before tax without contract to buy one from them. So be prepared to pay at least $600 to get one.
Is there any reason that you want to stick with AT&T (e.g. no t-mobile reception in your area or on a family plan)? I paid AT&T about $200 to break my contract, which still has another year before it ends. Sign up a new contract with t-mobile and get the Sensation for $150. So in the end I paid $350 for the phone, still a much better deal than paying $600+ for the Canadian version.
Hey guys, I recently bought a used Rogers Lumia 920, which I planned to unlock and use with Telus.
Turns out the guy selling wasn't totally straight with me, I've tried unlocking it with 3 different major providers (Cellunlocker/Canadagsm/Cellunlock.net) and all of them have refunded my money for failure to find an unlock code in their system.
I've called Rogers (I'm not a customer) they say if I want to unlock it I have to open a temporary account and THEN keep the phone active 90 days on said account and THEN pay $50 for the unlock. So pay for a sim, load some credit on account, plus unlock, starting to get expensive. What I'm more concerned about is the 90 day wait. I don't really have 3 months to wait around for a phone.
I was wondering if anyone had any further suggestions for getting this B*** unlocked, OR if there were any Roger's customers with good standing who'd be willing to try and get it unlocked for me (obviously I'd pay for it).
Thanks
Bryan

As far as I know, most phones are locked at factory or somewhere in between.
They're absolutely SIM locked to AT&T. There's good news though: If you contact AT&T and speak to their Advanced Tech Support, explain that it was paid in full from Best Buy, you're NOT an AT&T customer, and you need it unlocked. Tell them to email the device unlock team explaining all of this, and give a good contact number and your email address. In about 3 days, they'll unlock it for you. Do NOT put an active AT&T SIM in, or you'll be forced to wait 60 days.
My dumb ass put an AT&T SIM in, and I was basically **** out of luck for unlocking it. I ended up buying a remote unlock off Ebay (via USB, not IMEI) and $15 later it works fine on T-Mobile.

Please pm me the eBay link. The seller I bought from on swappa won't cancel the sale. I'm stuck with a sim locked att note 10. I would rather just pay the $15 for instant unlock.
I have just purchased a Pixel 3a which is locked to EE UK and I want to unlock it to use with another carrier. As I'm not an EE customer, how can I go about this? I called EE and they checked the IMEI but won't unlock it for me as it is still new and in contract. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks

I'm guessing the price was good, and you will have a problem finding the person who sold it. The carrier is likely to blacklist the phone when the payments on the existing contact are not paid.
It will stay locked to EE until the provider's contract is satisfied. It should not have been sold to you without disclosing the carrier lock/contract. Either return it to the person who sold it, or pay off the carrier contract.

I know the owner (a non-technical relative) who wouldn't have known about the carrier lock, and I failed to research it thoroughly. EE confirmed they can only unlock it when it has more than 6 months old, so I'll return it, no problem. Shame, I wanted to keep it!
