I purchased an att moto g stylus 2021 5g on eBay listed as unlocked. Now I have discovered the installment plan on att has not been paid and the phone can not be unlocked. The seller refunded my money and does not want the phone returned. Any suggestions as to how I can use the phone in Mexico? It is too good a phone to throw in the trash! Thanks for any help you can offer.
pay an unlocking website 30 bucks and that should get it unlocked.

It seems that it is virtually impossible to get perm root on the Verizon due to locked bootloader. I bought my Moto G XT1028 for $49.99 from Best Buy about a week ago and the Boost version currently costs $99.99. Should I do this. Will the XT1031 (Boost) version be a better experience for modding purposes?

Yes, the bootloader on the boost version can be unlocked via motorola just like the gsm models. Currently the only way to get this done on the verizon model is to pay some random guy in china $45, and thats only if he can get an unlock code for your specific device, which brings the total cost of the phone to nearly the same amount as the boost version.

Alrighty then, I'll be returning this as soon as Best Buy opens.
Before you return it
Boost is running a deal right now where you can get upto a $100 phone for free in boost stores. Check the boostmobile.com site for full details, but I think if you go into the store and get a monthly unlimited plan you can get the moto g for free. If they still do the number porting deal they will also give you $50 in credit for porting your verizon number to them, and on top of that PM me the email address you will use for boost and I will send you a referral and get us both a $25 credit (takes about 2 weeks to get the credit) . If you dont trust me knowing your email address just get a friend to send you the referral and you can both have a $25 credit.
Wow. What a difference the XT1031 made. I was able to unlock the bootloader and root it easily. I now currently have Cyanogenmod 11 installed on this.
Hey, I purchased a used Moto G 8GB by Sprint for my dad for father's day off of Ebay. I've never dealt with Sprint but when I bought the phone it said the ESN was cleaned... So, I thought I was good to go. My father uses Iwireless and they have a byop only for Sprint used phone. I tried registering the phone with Iwireless and to find out the phone has a balance of a unpaid bill from previous owner. I called Sprint and got no where they just gave me the run around. Also, they told me to contact the original owner and have them pay the remaining balance. So, is it a way I could mod the phone or my dad can use it for WiFi calling / mp3 player? I got a refund on the phone + I got to keep it.

I do know that there is a Boost Mobile (Sprint MVNO) Moto G, but its prepaid only so there can't be a unpaid balance. Hmmm... I guess, you should pay the balance or get a new phone.

Only reason I called it a Sprint Moto G because when I bought it off of ebay it said "Moto G Sprint" The version of the phone is HW Version: P3C and I google it and I do think its a Boost Mobile phone.
Hello. I am Emmanuel. I bought s8+ at Utah. With t-mobile carrier. And I did it with the installment plan. I haven't finished paying But will travel to Africa. And this is my only phone. There is no t-mobile service there. So was wondering if there was a way to unlock it. Before I left. :angel:

Good luck with that. You buy a phone on installments and want it unlocked in the first month..... Pay for the phone, then can you can do what you like with it.

CaI made some inquires with UnlockUnit dot com about the possibility of unlocking the Sprint model V50 and here's their response after initially telling me that they are presently were unable to unlock.

Don't know if this will happen but if so, you can bet I'll be first in line. BTW, Sprint is now selling the V50 in most Corporate stores or at least here in Ft Lauderdale. The thing is, it's total BS since you can only activate with a 5G plan even though they don't have 5G service anywhere in Florida, Hell they haven’t even announced when it would be available here as far as I know. Now I bought my V50 brand new off ebay and was well aware of the proposition when I bought it but the minute I get it unlock I'm going straight back to Google Fi until 5G service is offered. BTW if you buy from third party and then join Sprint as a bring you own phone, according to their policy, they say they will unlock after 50 days.

u dont need a 5g plan i am in chicago with a unlimited data 1500 min plan from back in the day, and i activated mine toay
So I currently have at&t but I saw a great deal on ebay to get the sprint v50 for just $224 without any damage so I bought it thinking there must be a way to unlock or even just use this on a new sprint account. Well to my great surprise with this being a flagship, I cant.. What should I do with this?
If not stolen try talking to sprint about paying a % of the balance. Sell it on ebay as grade 9 for parts only $300
