what kind of damage is this? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi!
A few days ago I dropped my phone and until it hit the ground, I accidently kicked him with my leg and it got knocked by the wall and finally touched the floor. When I lifted it up from the ground I noticed what you see in the picture. It look's like an air bubble between the screen and the screen protector. But this bubble is underneath the first layer of the screen. Until today the "bubble" hasn't expanded, and I hope it wouldn't go further. My phone has still got the warranty paper available, idk if I'm going to send my device to their service and they will repair it...or I can go to a random service to check it out and maybe they will be able to repair it, or do worse...
What is this "bubble" afterall?

Screen is made of multiple layers, the digitizer (for touch) is the top layer iirc, the screen LCD is underneath, usually glued together, looks like the two have separated

Any chance to repair it without great costs?

Without replacing the screen, not sure, I know you have to use a heat gun to melt the glue between the screens to replace just the top glass layer, so it's possible if it has just come unstuck that could melt it back down, but might make it worse

bubble inside LCD

Hi all,
I removed the old screen protector from my atom LCD to replace it with the new one but it left lots of its sticky remains on the screen, some how I managed to clean the screen but there is a bubble appeared on the LCD afterwards which expands when you touch & drag & comes back to original size which is oval about an inch long. can any one help me how to remove as its really ugly now.
thanks in advance for your support.
bubble in the LCD
can any body help in this regard???
will be obliged.
CHeck the quality of the scratch guard...the bubble is just an air bubble...remove the existing film..wipe out with Iso Propyl Alcohol and reapply a new scratch guard..with proper care and as per the instructions given as how to apply..
its just an air bubble. you need something soft like a piece of card board which wont leave scratches on the screen protector and gently push it in the direction where it can escape out (more like force the thing out but not too hard on the screen or else you'll end up having scratches). Tried and tested..

Just use a Credit Card for it.
bubble in the LCD
Thanks a bunch for all your replies, infact its in the LCD glass not in between glass & guard.....as I havent applied new guard or protector yet because of this bubble. nothing is happening if i try to move this thing from credit card or any thing. its just expands & comes back to its size, about an inch hollow.
I have the same thing and the same situation also after i replace the screen protector. But its more like a patch of oil than bubble. The problem is actually the LCD, there are few layers within the LCD itself, and you cant remove it.
Sometimes it will be there, sometimes not. I checked with the service centre, they can replace the LCD but its not really necessary. It wont affect operations. The cause they say is most likely heat / sunlight.

[Q] Layers under the Gorilla Glass

Hi there,
I accidentally dropped my transformer on the front side - this broke the glass in the fall-area and damaged the layer right beneath the gorilla glass. First i thought this was the touch-sensitive layer. I then disconnected the cable from the "motherboard" which led from this display layer. The touch-controlling still works.
What are the layers exactly? I'd like to know what I'm exactly to replace here.
Thx in advance
Could you post a photo (with the screen turned on, if it still works)? LCDs have many layers. It would be really hard to find replacement for any of them.
I'll be home in the evening (CET), so it will take some time for me to be able to post a photo.
Nevertheless - the LCD Display is intact! It's the layers on top of it that are damaged...

I accidentally put my knee on my transformer, was hidden under a blanket, and the glass didn't crack but a part of the LCD underneath cracked, screen still worked though but looked funny. I had it repaired and they replaced LCD+glass, think the spare part is one whole unit.

Tried warranty but they spot a mile away that I had danced on it so I had it fixed under my insurance, all risk, necessary when you have kids . With shipping and handling back and forth total: 340 euro. If I didn't had my insurance I would not have had it fixed.

This is scary. I'm sorry for your loss.

That looks like you have to sell it for parts and try to find a used one to buy, must be plenty on the net since the Prime was released.

Water between glass and display

Hello guys!
I have problems with touchscreen, like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wc-KZmmZI8&feature=youtu.be
I think that there is some water between glass and screen.
Any ideas how to delete it from there?

Short of your spilling liquid on the tab, or using it in a steam room, I can't see how it can seep in between the two glasses. Anyhow, I think you would have to take apart the tab before you can remove the moisture.
If you're willing to do that, and the display assembly is original, the lcd is taped to the back of the digitizer. Since the original double-sided tape is not porous enough for steam to filter through quickly, heating the glass from outside will cause the moisture to evaporate, and condense into drops again at the top of the lcd.
What you need to do is slice a small opening through the tape at the top so there's some space between the glasses, then heat up the front surface. Once the moisture's all gone, press the glasses back together gently. It doesn't take much pressure for one to stick to the other. You want to close the opening to prevent dust particles from getting blown in. That should take care of it.

need advice how to patch up my physically damaged M7

Alright, I did send sms on my bicycle which resulted in I did drop the phone on the ground. Luckily I had ad NILLKIN glass screen protector, which did save most of the phone . I have ordered a new Nillkin screen protector from Aliexpress. And I hope to patch up this phone so it looks good again. How would you have done ?
As you can see at the bottom in the pictures there is physically damage, you can you see the screen bleeding thru also the huwawei logo is damaged.
My idea is UNDER the NEW Nillkin screen protector I will try to mask these "holes" so the screen is not beelding thru anymore. What material should I use to patch up these holes.. also.. how to repar the logo ? can I print it out on my computer printer ? it might look **** on paper but UNDER the glass protector it might look a lot better.
All creative ideas are appreciated, I have high hopes the phone will look good again..
And hopefully my phone will surrive until the M8 release.
Just to let you know desipite the glass look damaged like this the phone is still fully functional!!
ouch i can feel with you.
How about some black film, black paper or everything else that is black and thin
Yes some black material for sure.. Black film would be perfect in guess.. Just wonder where to get it also some black glue at the sides also..

Nice man might be a very good alternative! But how easy is it to change it really?
Do I need a heat gun for that?
Don't know. I don't advise to do it yourself , just go with the phone to any service, I'm sure they know how to do the operation. Or maybe you have an huawei service near you.
Or...if you have the courage go for it ) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDiaQOzCvfE & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUl8dCuhBGw
Joke man, don't do it yourself if you don't have experience

I have done some smartphone repair myself, I changed the USB board on my old Galaxy Note 1.
I bought a smartphone repair kit with a few tools and very small screwdrivers. To change the glass is probably not much harder, but I need to know if I need a heat gun since I do not own any yet Hopefully it is not needed..but I would assume so...
I might also add the reason I bought a screen protector was that the original glass underneeth have a small crack too that goes accross the entire screen but it s quite invisible besides from certain angels.. so to change that screen to would actually be amazing..and it would make the secondary value when I sell this when M8 is released be a lot higher..
I think you need one. Look at the second yt movie at 22:34. Have an hair dryer?

Yes the Nillkin glass did its job but I think I was unlucky, that the bottom of the phone got under my bicycle tire.. it felt like it...
I recommend Nillkin, IT has very good Oleophobic coating, which makes the whole device a lot more enjoyable to use, but be careful whren you put it on non 100% straight surfaces it will slip onto the floor.
Alright it is more or less decided I will buy a new front cover with glass, I will make sure to get original parts with gorilla glass. Since the ebay link you linked to are chipped from china I guess I can just order straight from alixpress instead...
I have heard singapore post have quite fast shipping compared to china post.
just one question is hard to see in the videos.. but do I really need to disassembly every component all the circuits boards just to change the front screen ? do I need to open the case at all when using the heat gun/hair dryer ?
If as in the every component and circuit board has to be disassembled it is over my competence probably... unless I am super careful..
Mutch better if you want to purchase an original front to replace it. Don,t know if you really need to take all the components of for replacing the front screen, but you can make some research on it or you can ask on other forums, maybe are others with more experience.
yes I understand..must decide tomorrow then.. because of shipping times a fast decision need to be made otherwise I will have to wait too long..

Man I was repairing the whole Mate7 from the scratch!
If u shattered the screen ;
1.You will need new one which cost £40-£60 2.You will have to strip the WHOLE phone which is pain!
3.You will have to open the back cover, which is very hard process. You will need hard force to pop back cover from hinges.(first you need to remove small bottom cover which is plastic.)You will have to pry it underneath is adhesive which holds that small cover firmly.
4.Once you manage to remove back cover you have to disconnect all flex cables. There are 3 black screws and 4 chrome screws(smae like two at bottom) which holds motherboard.
There is small black cover which covers all connectors and it is tricky to remove it,because left side is kind of locked under chrome metalic cover plate! You need to pry it slightly to the right to flip it upwards.Be careful! One black screw holds that small black plate!
Once you remove the motherboard, another and very very hard part awaits you!
5.Removing the battery!
You will need heat gun to remove battery but even that heat gun might ot help you to remove BIG battery without damage !!
I tried to remove battery without damage but no luck.So I will advise you to buy new battery for mate7 mine cost me just £8 from china but I had to wait almost a month to deliver! Disaster shipping from china!
So if you apply lot of heat you might be lucky remove battery without damage.
But I was scared to apply too much heat on battery it could result in explosion or fire!!!
So I rather purchased one.
Once you remove battery, you can remove bottom part of phone which is usb board with speaker and plastics. It is up to you you dont need to remove it.
6.Removing the damaged screen from (middle) supporting frame!
This can be easy depends how screen is damaged. BUT
Here you have 2 options to replace screen.
A:You can buy screen without supporting frame which is harder and more work and heat gunning around the screen and prying screen from middle frame.Needs like 30-40 seconds of heating around the screen not in the middle.
B:You can buy s reen with middle frame which is very easy.Screen is already fited in frame so you dont need to mess with very slim adhesive srtips around the screen(which I done)
Then you will have to remove all parts from middle frame. Ear speaker ,loud speaker usb board and replace it to new housing.
Once you will set the new screen you can put all parts back together..
Replacing screen for this phone is PAIN!
It really needs skills and be careful because it is very easy to scratch back cover.

Hello and thanks, I appreciate your detailed instructions.
But I need to say one really IMPORTANT THING
IT IS NOT THE SCREEN THAT I NEED TO CHANGE THE ACTUAL SCREEN AND LCD IS WORKING PERFECTLEY WHAT I NEED TO CHANGE IS THE Front Screen Outer Glass Lens. i HAVE HIGH HOPES THAT IF I ONLY CHANGE THIS I DO NOT NEED TO DO ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS YOU DO SINCE I AM ONLY CHANGING THE GLASS NOT THE ACTUAL SCREEN, IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCREEN AND OUTER GLASS AND FRONT. I HOPE YOU WILL READ MY POST AND GIVE ME AN UPDATE BEFORE I PUSH THE BUY BUTTON THANKS!

And I will give you one last advice ; that my detailed post above I explained you how difficult it is .. YOU want to change glass only ??
And what you think, you can just do it without stripping phone apart ?? Are you magician ? You would have to open phone anyway !
And replacing glass on your screen, do you have any idea how you gonna do it? Removing glass from LCD is x10 TIMES hard that my instructions above man !
So you basically adding even more, harder work to hard work ..!
Do you even have
1.LCD separator heat machine ??
2.Cutting line wire ??
3.Cleaning alcohol chemicals ??
4.Optical clear adhesive glue ??
5.Ultraviolet curing lamp ??
Come oon man ...
I told you I wish you very best of luck..

Display replacement

Unfortunately I crashed display on moto x play...so if anybody now trusted site to buy new one....tnx
Anyone found a display replacement that includes the front cover? Without it, it should be nearly impossible, am I right?
Gesendet von meinem XT1562 mit Tapatalk
I haven't seen any.
I tried combining the components and failed. Broke the circuitry in the LCD when trying to mount the frame...
I asked Motorola what i should do when i dropped my phone and the glas got broken. They told i should send it to their repair service, it was datrepair in Germany maybe its another in other countries. They Arranged everything for me and i paid 120€ for the replacement, just the glass maybe touch but idk, screen was ok when i was sending it in. They even took care of shipping without any cost for me.
Normaly i repair devices by myselfe but in fact the phone was only 1 Month old i refused to it.
If you have a heat gun (or hair dryer) and a set of torx screwdrivers, you should be able to fix it at home. If something is tight, never force it. Use plastic tools to pry open the case, usually comes together with the screwdriver set if you buy them online

For that, you would need the lcd including the frame which is nicht available yet...
So atm nearly impossible.
I managed to get some tiny cracks on the edge near the front camera (it fell onto metal from my jacket, i was bending over). Thankfully it's not the touch area, but i now somehow understand why so many people have cracked phones. It happens so quickly. And i was treating it like a raw eggshell, too.
I dropped mine as I was getting out of the car.It cost me R1500 (R is for South African Rand) to replace the screen. The guys who repaired it had to crack the plastic frame to get the screen out .They used glue to keep the new screen in place.I dont think they knew what they were doing, but it was the only repair center that was in the same province as me.

Yeah, please make a video it'll help many.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_yzMPWCQOM This video shows the whole process with a complete display assembly. Its incredibly more difficult if you get the screen without the frame as the screen is affixed to the frame with some sort of adhesive foam.
I also broke my screen and ordered a replacement. Unfortunately I broke the frame in the process of removing the old screen.
Luckily I got my hands on a replacement frame and some 3M 2 milimeters adhesive strips. Praying for everything to work out put together..

Best of luck, if you can document the process as there isn't much info out on screen replacements where you affix a new frame to a screen. My frame broke when I dropped my phone which is why I just got the whole unit. Cost me about $62 CAD shipped for the whole unit.
Has anyone here tried a replacement? Any tips?
So is it possible to change just the glass without the whole display unit?

So, I tried for myself with my old display after I got a replacement new display including a new frame.
It is absolutely impossible to separate the front glass from the digitizer and display without destroying all three.
I think even a professional wouldn't be able to do it. Display and digitizer are very flexible while the screen is glued really really good to them
I heated it up to no avail. Maybe some glue remover would have helped, but I don't think it would get between the glass and the digitizer.
These phones are just not build to be repared, they are build to be thrown away.
Exchanging the new frame including display was no easy job too, but it can be done.
Be sure to have a high quality Torx T3 screwdriver or bit, the cheap china ones will do nothing but destroy the tiny screws.
