Root Access Enabled but no Root Apps Respond - Android General

I recently dusted off a 2012 pre-rooted Android TV box and am trying to attain root again after doing a factory reset.
AMLOGIC Cortex A9 Neon ARMv7L Rev4 32-bit CPU
Mali400 Quad Core 3D GPU
Model: MBX reference board (f16ref)
OS version: ICS 4.0.4
Kernel version: 2.6.34
Build number: ICS.MBX.20120811
Chipset: ARM AMLOGIC Meson3 8726M SKT SH
The CPU Identifier app shows that root access is enabled, as it was before the reset. However, the Root Checker app indicates that I'm not rooted. The Reboot Manager root app also indicates root failure and won't perform. Are there some troubleshooting steps I can take to get apps to respond to root? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know much about android tv, but is it possible you lost you SuperUser app when you factory reset? In this scenario you'd have root, but no root apps would work because the app that authorizes it is not there. Probably need to put SuperSu, Magisk, or similar app on it to have root function.

Yeah, You may have the binaries installed but you might not have the Superuser app installed.
On the Google PlayStore search for SuperSU and download the one by Codingcode Tools.
Not an issue with SuperSU it is all fine on my Android 5.0.2!

Thanks so so much for all replies. The suggestions to install a SU manager app worked and now my root behaves as expected.
I didn't try SuperSU because that one caused my issues in the first place with a "binary occupied" error. Superuser ClockworkMod v1.0.3.0 worked as expected. Thanks again.

[Completed] [HELP] Rooting Devant D-Tab 701

I've searching everywhere nothings working on rooting my device Devant D-Tab 701
Here's Tablet Specification
MODEL- DT-701
Series - Orion
CPU - Rockchip (RK3066) ARM Cortex A9 1.6GHz (Dual Core)
Android Platform - Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean)
Flash Memory - 8Gb
RAM - 1Gb
DISPLAY PANEL - 7.0"
GPU Type - ARM
GPU Renderer - Mali-400 MP4
GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) - Quad Core
I tried SuperOneClick[x], ZhuoDaShi-2.2.9[x], Manually rooting using psneuter on cmd[x], and flashing update.zip method[x]
is there any other way to root this tab?
While I don't have experience with your specific tablet, I have gone through rooting a similar RK3066 tablet.
Many of the Rockchip tablets already aren't locked down and they just need Superuser or SuperSU installed, but sounds like you may have tried that already.
If it is locked, first I would try Kingo Root.
If you need/want custom recovery, check CWM ported for Rockchip.
If you're lucky, your kernel partition has a valid kernel (mine didn't tho) and the generic RK3066 recovery will work. Make sure you back up your stock recovery first!!!!.
If you need further assistance, please reply on the linked threads.

[Q] I can´t root on -ampe A91

A few days ago I bought a tablet Ampe A91, and went without the google apps.
I'm interested enough to have them, and I know that I need to root permissions.
I tried vroot, kingroot, framaroot, srsroot, mktdroid, shuame, motochopper_auto_root ... and I have not gained access, as close, is that I installed the application SuperSU but with the message: No binaries for SU installed and can not install SuperSU . This is a problem!
The tablet is MT 6572W and takes android 4.4.2

Just want to add myself to this thread. Interesting in the advancement of this box to be able to root.

How to root a new purchased rk3188 unit correctly without installing custom rom?

I purchased the following Android 5.1.1 rk3188 unit:
https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/Car-...luetooth-andrdoid-5-1-system/32805370646.html
The unit runs on android 5.1.1 and uses an rk3188 chip.
I need to root it because I want to install TomTom GO on it, at the moment i cannot install it because TomTom gives a internet connection error when i start the app.
Elsewhere on the forum i found a solution how to fix this, by changing the serialnumber and or devicetype/make/model etc.
To do this my unit needs to be rooted and xposed installed but currently it isn't rooted, i also want to keep using the stock rom because i like the interface and it has a special option for the MINI (mph button) in the interface.
I tried too root it myself but sadly i failed.
I entered *#hct#root# in factory settings and it stated 'adb rooted' (or something) but still i have no root when i run a root check app.
I then rebooted (as advised) and installed the latest version of kingoroot and ran it, sadly this app reports it has failed to root it.
Now my question is how do i root this device without installing a custom rom and install xposed so i can change my serial number to get tomtom go working?

I always used KingoRoot successfully on all 5.1.1 MTCB ROMs. Did you have Internet access when trying to root? Kingo root needs to download files from the Internet, if you're not connected it won't work.

Yes i had internet and it downloaded files also, but root failed.
Maybe i did it wrong....
Should i reboot after i enabled adb root using factory settings password *#hct#root# ?
Is this correct:
- enable (adb) root factory setting
- reboot
- download and run kingoroot
OR
- enable (adb) root factory setting (do NOT reboot)
- download and run kingoroot

Just download and run kingoroot. The "*#hct#root#" code is no longer working on 5.1.1 ROMs

Looks like you're in the wrong section, you have a MTCD unit, not a MTCB/C

New device came with root access

I purchased a tablet for my kids to play Pokémon go, the issue is that authentication fails, I started to look into the issue and I ran root checker, it says your K107 is not rooted
Root Access:
No Access
SU:
su found
UID/GID:
uid=10078(u0_a78)
gid=10078(u0_a78)
groups=3003(inet),9997(everybody),50078(all_a78)
context=kernel
Utils:

Path:
/sbin:/vendor/bin:/system/sbin:/system/bin:/system/xbin
Path:
/system/xbin/

/system/bin/sh: <stdin>[41]: /system/xbin//su: can't execute: Permission denied
Permissions:
rwsr-x---
Owner:
shell:67060
SELinux:
Disabled
I then ran Safety Net and it failed
Basic integrity and CTS Profile match.
This I think means that the bevice has access to the system files.
Because of this access Pokémon go, android pay and others will not authenticate access.
The tablet is a Beista 10.1 Android 5.1 (SDK 22)
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Unroot the device by opening Super app (if you don't have it, install it from Playstore), then open its app settings, find the setting that says "cleanup for Unroot and uninstall", this will remove the su binaries from system and uninstall the Super app. That will fully Unroot you and allow your apps to run.
Or you can leave it rooted and find a mod or app that hides root from those apps to let them run.

Unable to find Super App. but I have SuperSU it says that there is no binary installed.
I did root checker and It says system is not Rooted.
but when I use file explorer I am able to see the system files, (etc, system so on)
There is an app called SIM Toolkit (versioin 5.1-vKB095L) it wont run, says it's not installed, but it's in the application list as installed and running.
using root app deleter I see under system apps its located at /system/priv-app/stk1/stk1.apk
says its an official app optimized for current ROM

Yeah, autocorrect got me.
If there are no su binaries then you aren't rooted.
The SIM Toolkit is a stock system app, it is supposed to be there, it's not an app you can open or do anything with, it just runs in the background.

Well then I need to figure out what is causing SafetyNet to fail CTS Profile mismatch.
Both Pokemon Go and Android Pay will not Authenticate.
And why is it that I can see the System files?

Try reflashing stock firmware and start over from scratch.
Do a Google search for:
"Return to stock (your model number)"
If it's available for your model, that will find your stock firmware and instructions to flash it. Get it flashed and then reinstall the apps you're trying to get working.

I found this thread for your device, you can probably find the stock firmware to restore it somewhere in that thread. Use SP Flash tool to flash it. I saw a firmware linked there for K960 which I believe is your device.
http://www.chinaphonearena.com/forum/Thread-Question-How-to-root-JLINKSZ-K960-MTK6592-OR-T
I found this thread discussing alternative firmwares that might be used.

In my experience, these cheap Chinese tablets aren't worth having because they have no product support whatsoever. These devices are actually knock-off trying to imitate/clone "real" devices.
I suggest you ditch that tablet and get something better.

Hello 2k05gt, I recently bought this device. I messed up with the launcher and now is stuck in the "Adnroid is starting, optimizing app" loop. When I enter to recovery mode, a screen pops up saying "No command". Perhaps no recovery is flashed? Do you happen to have the same issue? I am really pissed off because I don't know how to fix this.
