Hey everyone,
Just wondering if anyone else has mushy-feeling buttons, especially the volume buttons? They make a very slight 'click' but take a little more effort than I'd expect to adjust. I've kinda got used to them but wondered if it's normal?
Cheers
Mine take a bit more effort to push than I expected.
I've contacted Google and they've offered an RMA so I'm guessing mushy buttons are a manufacturing defect. Hopefully my replacement will be free of this.
I swapped my white Pixel 2 for a black one and the buttons are much better.
I have a Pixel 2 with the clicking sound problem that I RMA'd for another device, which did not solve the issue.
I did notice that the bottoms, espcially volume bottons were different on the two. The original device had a little bit softer buttons with less of a click. The second device had firmer buttons with a louder click. I actually like the softer buttons better. I would not call them mushy. There is still a definite click when you depress them.
This may not be a hardware defect but just a variance in the hardware. They probably have a tolerance range of what is acceptable. Still, I ws surprised that there was a pretty noticeable difference between the two devices.
A bit mushy out of the case for sure. With the fabric case on, they are very clicky.

The volume buttons on my NS seem a little loose and rattle a bit, more than compared to my Vibrant. Anyone else have this? Just the way it's designed or a defect?
Otherwise, very impresses with the NS so far!
Pretty solid on mine, no give and does not rattle even if I shake it.
Pretty solid.. and I'm not going to shake it or do something to possible make it worse!
Mine rattles like crazy and it's super annoying. I guess if others don't do this then I should exchange mine.

Hmm, not good then, lol. I hope my BB has more in stock to do an exchange... Compared to my power button, the volume button(s) are very loose, make a rattling sound every time I even slightly touch it.

mine is but im ok with it. My unlocked one does the same the power button is not loose while the volume button is.
Nothing wrong with mine, no noise or rattle.

exchange it, my vibrant had the same issue and i got one with sturdy buttons
What a pain. I just had everything customized and setup the way I like it and now I have to wipe it and get a replacement because of a crappy plastic volume button.
But at least there is a retail location to handle an exchange unlike the N1.

Fold a small piece of paper, take the back cover off, slip it in the gap of the volume rocker that goes into the hard back of the phone and that takes care of the problem

hahaha it worked for the vibrant and it works for this too =D
Many galaxies have this. Not a big deal for me.
Thx, that's a good idea re: the paper.
I was actually able to exchange mine today no problem, but had to drive 40 minutes to another BB that had a few in stock. This new one has a slightly loose volume button, but not as bad as the first one.
Mine is a little loose then my vibrant but I can live with it
just shook the hell out of mine. no rattle. have a vibrant, also doesnt rattle.
Eh... mine Just started to rattle. Not if I shake it, but if anything touches it. If I lightly touch it it will rattle. As if there isn't enough spring tension or more like the button is to small for the slot in the case. This is going to bug the hell out if me. I love this phone and its all finally customized how I want! Should I wipe and exchange it, or will they think I am crazy?
Same problem here.
The volume buttons are quite loose and I hear some rattle when I shake it.
But that's Samsung.
I know in some cases the Nexus One had problems with the power button, but at least there were no loose parts.
So I went to best buy to see if the loose button was just how its made or a defect. The employee took a few nexus's out of the boxes and they all had the same "loose feeling". Maybe loose is the wrong word; it just isn't solid like the power button. So I guess were just stuck with it. This is still a hell of a phone, just had some pretty high build quality expectations following my N1.

Well, the Nexus 1 did have a big problem regarding the power button.

I feel like the volume buttons are more prominent than the power button and easier to press on...
And since now I'm having the pop case on, the rubber also makes all buttons less “springy"...
Wonder if anyone else have the same problem...
I noticed this as well when I first got my SR-I727… the power button was less prominent than it was on my SGS2-I777…. but works perfectly fine. I have the case-mate pop case on and case does not interfere with operation of the power-button… I actually prefer it now as I don’t have to press as hard as I did with the I777. Just make sure you have the underlying skin (on the two piece case-mate case) placed precisely over the power button before putting on the outer hard case shell.
My buttons are the same. Kinda bothered me at first but I got used to it since they work fine. Plus after about a month I start to not care about my phone and its flaws.
I like it like that. I was used to it on my Infuse, and Vibrant.
I don't like how the volume buttons are popped out, it makes them feel..... weird.
I just exchanged Skyrocket for another one (battery drain and other issues) and the power button is even more "buried in" on this one than on the previous one! I don't like that, either and I think it could be a problem for someone with "bigger" fingers
On the other hand, now battery is 79% full after one full day! so I guess it's a trade off...and no two Skyrockets are the same
After owning the Surface 2 for a little over a week, i have noticed that when i press the bezel (or near the edges of the screen), there some give. What i mean by "give" is that the digitizer actually pushes down and hits the LCD, and makes the "magnetic" looking effect whenever you would press on a normal non-touch LCD screen. In other words, crappy manufacture process (or bad design). This is the second Surface 2 i have had, the first one had messed up edges (top didn't align, at all).
Also, i noticed that on the bottom left spot, is where the weakest spot is, there is some light bleeding through (not too much). Just seems odd.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I may upload a video, if wanted. I am hoping this is a more "common" thing, It's quite annoying having to re-install everything lol. I just don't want dead pixels from touching the touchscreen :l
Seems like a common problem.Noticed this on the first surface 2 i bought, took it back and the second one while not as bad has same give.
Weird, and lame. My RT doesn't have that problem at all. A little distortion from touching wouldn't be a problem, as it goes away quickly, but a hard or sustained press could do damage, yeah.

I'm on my 3rd Surface 2 now. First one had a bent bezel (top middle/plastic part, and the right aluminum side was bent). instantly exchanged it. Second one is the one I was posting about, and forgot to mention the super loose volume rocker (which is a known issue). Now on the third, I have much better luck apparently.
There is still a little give, but not as much. Just as you stated. The light bleed isn't near as bad either. Volume rocker is superb.
I am a tech as Staples, and we have a Surface RT, Surface 2, and a Surface pro 2 out on display. The Surface RT, and Pro 2 have a more sturdy feeling imo (because the Surface 2 is now the light Surface model I assume). Just as GoodDayToDie stated, The RT screen has a little less give in the screen when compared to the Surface 2. The Surface Pro 2 has the least give, just a little bit. I guess this is what I get for buying a product as soon as it releases, still, I/we shouldn't have to deal with this for $449 price tag.

Got a Surface 2 today and found the same problem with the screen. With normal holding pressure, I can press down the bezel and see the magnet effect on the edge of screen. Some parts of the bezel is softer than others. I also notice a dirt or bad pixel inside the screen. This never happens to my Surface RT. Very bad QC and build process. Returning mine to try a new one. I really hope my surface 2 is just few of those that have problems like these.

Unfortunately this seems normal. Some worse than others. I now don't really notice it because i'm not "looking" for it. So it hasn't been bothering me. Still shouldn't have to deal with it. The dead pixel though, get that exchanged.
All of a sudden today my power button became loose and now rattles. Rattles loud enough where I can here a foot away. I went to the Verizon store and all the gun metal ones had a very little rattle. Anyone having an issue with a loose power button?
No.mine moves a little, but I can't hear it..
I've been in two different Verizon stores and they had several ones that the rattling power buttons. Over 2 dozen between the two stores.
That's crazy.mines fine

Glad yours is fine. I just can't believe what I went through to get one that send fine so far. But mine went bad after 5 days. I hope no one else had this issue. I can't believe I'll be the only one though.
Just realized mine rattles today, had it less than a week, heard it while I was on the phone...not sure if swapping for a new one would help.
thoughts?

Go ahead and exchange. Have them check the stock in the back. Then cross your fingers that it won't happen again. Or return and wait to purchase one later. I've had luck so far on my replacements power button but my volume rocker one is kinda loose.. Not sure what I'm doing yet..pita I'm on my third replacement
Mine doesn't rattle at all. However it does seem to be sunk in a bit. I can rub my finger along the top and not feel the button at all.

Yah, unfortunately just like the original the power buttons have inconsistencies. I've seen then raised up nice to being flush.

I'd noticed that the darker m8s have the recessed button.. I have that and my fiancee has the silver.. Even the display models show it.
M8, nuff said.
I've noticed the same thing with the two colors. I just don't want mine to rattle bad.
Well, mine just started rattling today...
I have a rattling power button as well. If I move my finger across the button it moves from side to side. It doesn't bother me too much but I'm worried that it will eventually fall off. Should I ignore it or get it replaced?
The phone that I received initially had a loose volume toggle. I was able to get it swapped for a new one without any difficulties at a store.
Certainly if it is in the first 14 days, the replacement should be extremely easy. Not sure how much of a hassle it will be with later warranty support.
Just swapped out mine for the rattling power button as well as the right side of the screen coming loose causing a squeak. Spoke to a rep on the phone yesterday who said they don't have replacement devices for the m8 yet. Hopefully they will soon, but I would recommend anyone who is having issues to swap it out before your 14 days is up. Hopefully I'm wrong but I have a feeling all the current M8's will have the rattle issue eventually until the issue is resolved in the next batch.
Does anyone else notice rattling when placing the phone on a hard surface like a table?
By rattling mean clicking noises, like something was broken inside. I read that phones with OIS cameras have this noise, but since the Poco F2 Pro doesn't have those, I find it strange.
The phone has not been dropped or damaged in transport (the box was not damaged).
I haven't encountered such issue. Perhaps you have a defective one. Have it replaced immediately while you can.
I dont have that either. You probably have a defective one.
I found out what is the reason for the rattling... it's the cheap volume button, which makes noise when putting the phone down on a surface. It seems it is a bit loose.
From all the phones I had recently, I find the physical buttons on the PocoF2 the worst. Uneven clicks - volume down is super loud on click, and each button feels different.
I had a Pixel 4a for a few days recently, and it also had really "clicky" buttons, but at least they were even.
I feel volume buttons are louder than power button
