I feel like the volume buttons are more prominent than the power button and easier to press on...
And since now I'm having the pop case on, the rubber also makes all buttons less “springy"...
Wonder if anyone else have the same problem...
I noticed this as well when I first got my SR-I727… the power button was less prominent than it was on my SGS2-I777…. but works perfectly fine. I have the case-mate pop case on and case does not interfere with operation of the power-button… I actually prefer it now as I don’t have to press as hard as I did with the I777. Just make sure you have the underlying skin (on the two piece case-mate case) placed precisely over the power button before putting on the outer hard case shell.
My buttons are the same. Kinda bothered me at first but I got used to it since they work fine. Plus after about a month I start to not care about my phone and its flaws.
I like it like that. I was used to it on my Infuse, and Vibrant.
I don't like how the volume buttons are popped out, it makes them feel..... weird.
I just exchanged Skyrocket for another one (battery drain and other issues) and the power button is even more "buried in" on this one than on the previous one! I don't like that, either and I think it could be a problem for someone with "bigger" fingers
On the other hand, now battery is 79% full after one full day! so I guess it's a trade off...and no two Skyrockets are the same

I usually use the black phone and ended up using the white one for a phone call to tech support about the black phone. I noticed the unlock buttons had a very different feel. The black phones button protrudes visually and is easier to push while the white phones is flush with the top and is harder to push. I have attached an image so you can see.
I would be interested to see whether others buttons look the same and how the the remaining 2 colors stack up.

That's wild... I can't take a pic of my phone with my phone but maybe I'll upload something for you later tonight.
My red MT4G's lock button is much like the black you posted in your picture - portrudes slightly and is pretty easy to find and push without looking
Maybe the white one has a defect?
I found it was the opposite for me. I have the white one and it protrudes, clicks, and is easily pushed. When I used the black one it was the opposite.
damn i thought i was the only one that noticed this lol. i had the white one since the phone came out and 2 weeks later i replaced it with the black one. the white one was a pain in the butt to press but the black ones button sticks out more and is very easy to push. i even had the problem when i texted in landscape mode i would turn off my phone all the time with the black one. i guess the palm of my hand always pushed the power button when texting, well i was texting fast the shut off or restart mode thing always popped up and i always hit restart or power lol.
Yeah, I have that issue sometimes when I push the black phones lock button unwillingly. Funny tradeoff.
My white one is flush, but easy to find and push.

Hmm, you probably are just used to it. I use the black one so I found the white one weird to use.
The power button on my red one sticks up a bit too, which caused me to have the issue of hitting it when texting in landscape mode as well. I solved that problem by switching to landscape mode the other way. So that the power button is actually by my right hand. It seems I don't push it with my forefinger on that hand when I'm texting. It was a bit awkward at first to remember the control buttons were switched to the other side, and when I went to flip it back to portrait mode I had it upside down the first few times, but I got used to that too.... Glad I'm not hitting the power button anymore though. Lol
my white one is also flush, i like it though. i havent had the chance to play with any of the other colors but id imagine its similar to my slides top button (raised)
My red one is flush.
I first had a black one and it stuck out quite a bit. A couple days later I exchanged it for a white one (liked white better later and I had creaky buttons) and the button on that one is almost flush.
Another quick pondering: The MT4G has two "different" manufacturing points (so far): China and Taiwan. I wonder if we can correlate the different button quality with manufacturing point.

How the hell do you get off the battery cover without ripping your thumbnail halfway off? I mean, I love that HTC built this thing so solid and tight, that's why I bought it, but ouch!

The battery cover is all about the angle. Here is a photo of what works well for me. Hold the phone firmly in one hand and approach like this applying slight pressure to the top of the battery cover. Works with manly short cut fingernails without any damage to the fingernail.
Made in Taiwan, white and ever so slightly raised. Prefect IMO actually

Generally I have had good experiences with case-mate. However, this case features metal (plastic?) buttons on the sides to press the power and volume buttons on the Gs5. While the buttons work fine, and the case does protect the phone, my case fell apart. Specifically, the button that presses on the volume button fell out. It stayed in if I put it back and then left the case on the phone; however, if you take your case off with any frequency, the button apparently will fall out every time once this becomes loose.
So, I would not buy this case again.
I recently purchased an Element Eclipse phone case and am having problems with it. The TPU Power + Volume buttons are integrated so they do not stick out for easier pressing. Which is a problem because everytime I press either buttons, they don't activate unless it's with more than enough pressure. The main reason I bought the case was for the "SBS" (sound boost system) and am looking for any other possible case that features something similar to it. SBS is Element's way of bringing the sound from the rear speaker, to the front towards you so you can hear it better and have an overall better sound experience. I have yet to come across another case like that and was hoping somebody here knew of one. Thanks.
I don't know about alternatives, but I fixed the button problem on my Element Eclipse with some careful knife slits. One slit in the crevice to the right of the power button, two slits in the top-left and bottom-left corners of the crevice to the left of the volume buttons. Completely unnoticeable visually and significantly easier to press the buttons. I based this off of the built-in slits that are on the Galaxy S5 Element Reacon case.

Funny you mentioned that because I researched hard to press TPU buttons and I too have found suggestions to do that. I made slits along the edges of the Power and Volume buttons and it made a huge difference. Thank you for posting that tip though for others to see. :highfive:
are the button pieces that press the actual phone buttons close enough when the phone is in the case or is there a significant gap?
ive had cases that have needed a little strip glued to the cases buttons inside the case.
ive also had others that needed some material trimmed off of the cases buttons as they were too easy to press as they were too close to the phone buttons. they would get bumped and go off cause they were actually pressing the buttons partially at rest

Does anyone else who has one of these cases have a problem with accidentally powering the phone off or hitting the volume rocker? I've always preferred a bumper case (especially for this fatty - anything with a back would just make this thing too thick) but didn't realize until now how important cut-outs are rather than buttons on the case. Every once in a while I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and pull it out only to see that it is restarting. This never happened with the cheap OEM case which had cut-outs. I'm about to take an exacto knife to it and cut those raised buttons out, but am afraid it'll be too hard to reach the buttons.
Maybe try shaving the case buttons down a bit.

Actually, I can press the power button just by pressing the case near the power button. It appears they didn't recess the case enough near the button, so shaving off the outside isn't going to help. It would probably be best to shave it down on the inside, but that would be very difficult. I think I'm just going to cut the button out.

That's a totally different case than this one.
I have the Vena and liking it. It shows scuffs and scratches but still shows off my custom back fine. No issues with buttons. They work flawlessly.
I don't have your issue above. The side of the case with the buttons is kind of loose, so I emailed the company and never got a response. Then I emailed them back and still didn't get a response. Then about a week or two later I randomly got a brand new case in the mail. They never contacted me, but gave me a brand new case. So I'm happy about it lol. I would suggest contacting them because that should not be happening.
Have your problem in spades.

Whenever I touch the phone, I always seem to brush the power or rocker and either turn it or crank the volume. Time for a little surgery. Love it otherwise.
Hi all,
So I just noticed that the power button seems to be slightly loose, hanging a little downwards. It is still working fine, but a little wobbly, not like the other two buttons (volume and camera).
Anyone else noticing this?

I removed the back soft transparent TPU cover which I use from the phone so I could touch and test all three naked buttons for you, and they all behave the same, no one is loose. However, throughout over a one year period of use, all three buttons were protected by the back cover from dust and forcible manipulation. Did you use your phone naked without a cover or not?

Thanks for checking this. The power button feels significantly looser than the volume buttons, so I guess that something is different.
I always used the back cover, otherwise the phone was too slippery for me.
I use the phone for 2 weeks and all the buttons are the same without complaint. I use all the time with a rubber case (back). If your button suffered more in use (but it still worked) you can change the key mapping as I did, because the power button too often accidentally pressed when I took the phone in my hand. I replaced the POWER button with the top ASUSA.
