Does anyone else who has one of these cases have a problem with accidentally powering the phone off or hitting the volume rocker? I've always preferred a bumper case (especially for this fatty - anything with a back would just make this thing too thick) but didn't realize until now how important cut-outs are rather than buttons on the case. Every once in a while I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and pull it out only to see that it is restarting. This never happened with the cheap OEM case which had cut-outs. I'm about to take an exacto knife to it and cut those raised buttons out, but am afraid it'll be too hard to reach the buttons.
Maybe try shaving the case buttons down a bit.
I've had the Case-mate naked tough on since day one, haven't had a single problem with it. Although when I first installed it I had to reinstall it twice to make sure the buttons line up.. Awesome case, just a lil slippery on the back side, but overall I'm very happy with it.

Actually, I can press the power button just by pressing the case near the power button. It appears they didn't recess the case enough near the button, so shaving off the outside isn't going to help. It would probably be best to shave it down on the inside, but that would be very difficult. I think I'm just going to cut the button out.

That's a totally different case than this one.
I have the Vena and liking it. It shows scuffs and scratches but still shows off my custom back fine. No issues with buttons. They work flawlessly.
I don't have your issue above. The side of the case with the buttons is kind of loose, so I emailed the company and never got a response. Then I emailed them back and still didn't get a response. Then about a week or two later I randomly got a brand new case in the mail. They never contacted me, but gave me a brand new case. So I'm happy about it lol. I would suggest contacting them because that should not be happening.
Have your problem in spades.

Whenever I touch the phone, I always seem to brush the power or rocker and either turn it or crank the volume. Time for a little surgery. Love it otherwise.

I feel like the volume buttons are more prominent than the power button and easier to press on...
And since now I'm having the pop case on, the rubber also makes all buttons less “springy"...
Wonder if anyone else have the same problem...
I noticed this as well when I first got my SR-I727… the power button was less prominent than it was on my SGS2-I777…. but works perfectly fine. I have the case-mate pop case on and case does not interfere with operation of the power-button… I actually prefer it now as I don’t have to press as hard as I did with the I777. Just make sure you have the underlying skin (on the two piece case-mate case) placed precisely over the power button before putting on the outer hard case shell.
My buttons are the same. Kinda bothered me at first but I got used to it since they work fine. Plus after about a month I start to not care about my phone and its flaws.
I like it like that. I was used to it on my Infuse, and Vibrant.
I don't like how the volume buttons are popped out, it makes them feel..... weird.
I just exchanged Skyrocket for another one (battery drain and other issues) and the power button is even more "buried in" on this one than on the previous one! I don't like that, either and I think it could be a problem for someone with "bigger" fingers
On the other hand, now battery is 79% full after one full day! so I guess it's a trade off...and no two Skyrockets are the same
For the second freaking time in a row, my volume rocker fell out of my Sensation. I bought a new white battery cover a few months back to replace the black one, but the volume rocker has fallen out of both and I'm not spending $20 for another. Anyone else had this happen and fix it? What can I do?

I did this as a quick fix for my sensation's cover, until I had time to buy another. It worked for the day or two I needed to find a replacement.
There's a bit of plastic under the volume rocker that pushes it back up (it's a black strip and similar to the plastic under the power button). Use super-glue to make it stick. If you don't have a glue of some sort, you can heat up the tip of a metal screwdriver and you should be able to make it stick.
If there's no little black strip of plastic, you may just need to invent an alternative or buy a new cover and reinforce it with something.

Did this, but it fell out again rather quickly. Ended up using my old TPU case to just hold it in place. It falls out when I remove the case, and the case is an ugly yellow color because TPU cases yellow over time, but it's honestly the most effective thing I've done so far.
Also ended up buying a Nexus 4. The total cost that I've spent maintaining this phone is well over $170 (new battery, new back twice, repairs due to faulty/defective hardware plus the stupid high amounts that my local carrier charges to ship packages, since they're the only one in the area and they apparently run ****... Its just too much.

I know, this phone an incredible amount of design flaws that cost quite a bit to get replaced. I did say quick fix, as it's not meant to be permanent..
I'm not a big fan of cases, but I'll remember that if anyone asks.
Yeah, the case came for free. I agreed to review it.
I don't give a company a pass because they send a product.
Anyway, the case is bulky, but I guess it should be because it's supposed to be a rugged case.
It's well mode and adds heft to the phone.
I understand that they re supposed to protect the full phone, but I just don't like the feel of plastic screen protectors in cases. YMMV
I prefer glass to maintain feel but you aren't going to build it into a case.
The plastic on the screen did not interfere with function and readability.
The fit and finish are good.
Button presses registered with no issues.
I didn't experience any heat issues with the case on.
The cutouts on the screen and the case are spot on.
The kickstand works great in portrait and landscape.
The covers on the ports work fine and fit secure.
If I'm heading out to the beach, this is the case I would grab.
I wouldn't use it as a daily driver because I'm not in a harsh environment.
Overall a good case. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for the review. This is the case I was considering for daily use at work. I'm a service tech and its a rough environment. I have the Spigen rugged for my slim case.

Just got it today. Two issues I noticed so far:
1. you can activate the volume buttons while pushing down around the area surround the case volume buttons. I already dislike the location of the power/volume buttons and was hoping a heavy duty case will help with accidental button pushes while handling the phone.
2. the usb-c power is somewhat tight. When using the usb-c cable that came with the phone, you have to push it in hard enough to start charging. It isn't too bad except if you aren't careful or in a rush, you may not actually start the charge.
edit: I take it back, #2 is an issue. Plugged in one way, can get it to charge with some pushing. Flip it around and I'm not able to get the connection to work at all... boo

Is the hole too small or not lined up perfectly?

Looking into the hole with the phone facing up, the inner plastic portion of the case is too low. It isn't obstructing the actual usb port but the usb-c connector's housing is obstructed.
Yes, I did the same thing. Immediately remove the build in screen protector and install a tempered glass protector. I did not notify the charging issue, just need to push it a bit hard, both sides work the same way.
Hi All,
I have a relatively rugged cover on my HTC One M9. The cover is great for protecting the phone, but it isn't particularly 'button friendly'. Half the time when I try to turn the volume up on my phone (using the volume up button) the volume goes down, or the volume 'bounces' between going up and down. Many times when I have attempted to turn the volume down (using the volume down button) I have inadvertently turned the screen off, due to accidentally engaging the power button. Ultimately I don't think that the button placement on this phone is particularly well thought out. On future phones I will always check to make sure that the power button is nowhere near the volume buttons. This being said for the foreseeable future I will be using my new HTC One M9 phone so I am wondering if anyone can suggest a good cover that won't cause my buttons to 'play up'. My preference is for a gel cover, or similar, essentially anything that doesn't cover the screen (e.g.: flip covers).
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Davo
Hello there, i would suggest you forget the ugly gel cases and try this one: https://youtu.be/xAqf6hsQ2yQ
After doing a bit of research (I just picked up this phone the other day), I decided to order the Spigen Neo Hybrid, I was going to go with a casemate because I had one a while back and really liked it, anyway. On their site it runs about $35 but I ordered this one yesterday from Amazon for about $20, pretty much everyone has good things to say, even a few people on here recommended it:

After plenty of searching for "Best Case for HTC One M9", it pretty much boils down to a handful and what you decide will probably be based on your preference. Just looking at the first page of google search results spits back plenty of choices: https://www.google.com/webhp?source...=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=best case for htc one m9
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the suggestions.
casperlt1 - Can you please leave some feedback on how you found the 'Spigen' cover?
Kind Regards,
Davo
I've had my M9 for nearly a year and have the Spigen Thin Fit cast on it. I don't drop my phones regularly and have never shattered a screen, so my criteria was just to get something that would give better grip, add as little thickness as possible, and let me use the buttons without issue, and this case has been the perfect solution.

I had that problem (the volume 'bounces' between going up and down) with the spigen ultra hybrid case, it has some bump to reach the buttons, all did was to cut those bumps with an x-acto and now it's perfect
I've used many cases with mine. The ice view always tears at the hinge, the rugged ones were very cumbersome and one led to my phone dying from water damage (rain collecting in the top part of the case and leaching through the irda blaster)
Spigen neo is my current case and I really like it apart from its far too easy to press the buttons. While driving with the phone in my pocket it often turns itself up or down but I like the case

Cut a little the inside of the case , the buttons in the inside have a little rubber to reach the phone but it's too much. I did that to mine
I have M9 since a week and i have bought Baseus case for it .
Fits perfectly with my M9 . It is also very thin and smooth .
.
I suggest you try this baseus case , which is better than the one i have bought
The best
Ballistics Tough Jacket.
Any recommendations for one with a kick-stand?
Which screen protector do you use?
I hear some types of protectors can cause problems.
Hi all,
So I just noticed that the power button seems to be slightly loose, hanging a little downwards. It is still working fine, but a little wobbly, not like the other two buttons (volume and camera).
Anyone else noticing this?
Thanks,
Abprie
What is age of your phone?
Mine is 6 month old, no issues.
I bought it when it came out. Was that like one year ago? Can't remember...
So, no one else with a similar issue?
I removed the back soft transparent TPU cover which I use from the phone so I could touch and test all three naked buttons for you, and they all behave the same, no one is loose. However, throughout over a one year period of use, all three buttons were protected by the back cover from dust and forcible manipulation. Did you use your phone naked without a cover or not?

Thanks for checking this. The power button feels significantly looser than the volume buttons, so I guess that something is different.
I always used the back cover, otherwise the phone was too slippery for me.
I use the phone for 2 weeks and all the buttons are the same without complaint. I use all the time with a rubber case (back). If your button suffered more in use (but it still worked) you can change the key mapping as I did, because the power button too often accidentally pressed when I took the phone in my hand. I replaced the POWER button with the top ASUSA.
