Similar to the LG V30 "cases" thread -- but specifically for belt holsters/wallet style holder for the LG V30. I do NOT like to stick my phone in my pants pocket, where's there's car keys, coins, etc that may scratch the display. Even with a bumper case, I also use a belt-style holster for my smartphones. My wife uses something similar to stick her phone in her purse, to protect against all the metal objects in there. We both have TPU bumper cases for drops. This is for additional protection when not using the phone and means to carry it.
These are my search parameters, but you can change them... You can narrow to type of material, design, whatever. Right now there's almost a thousand search results and that will probably only increase!
LG V30 HOLSTERS: EBAY LISTINGS -- LOWEST PRICES FIRST, FREE SHIPPING, BUY IT NOW, WORLDWIDE SEARCH.
SOME of the belt style holsters do attach to the back of the phone, so there may some overlap in the "cases" and "holsters" threads -- but I thought this category is also important as it's not the bumper cases or even hybrid cases.

Here's a leather belt LG V30 holster that is wide enough to also let you have a bumper case on your phone. Just specify in the drop down menu how big you want "Otterbox Symmetry" big or "Otterbox Defender" big? Of course, prices change, but that's the price right now.
Here's the rugged nylon type my wife likes:

Hey, thanks for that. I will not buy this phone without a holster -- I need it for work -- and I hate the thought of running the V30 with an ugly case. Your setup might do the trick until a case-free holster is released.
On that note, I chatted with Seidio and emailed Encased.
They both told me there are no current plans for naked holster (Sedio "Spring Clip" series and Encased "Case Free" series). But the V30 is getting enough strong buzz that I'm counting on there being demand for it.
In the past, I've compared dimensions of other phones and found holsters that were a close enough fit to hold me over. I'm not finding a good candidate for this phone.

While that may be true, other phones are selling more. no holster sorry.
Hi
Hey Now! I've got my chosen combo.
For the holster, I picked up the Encased Duraclip that Steve841 linked to above. Note that unlike the Seidio Spring Clip, which has a great and easy to use mechanism to "clip in" and "clip out" the phone in a very fluid motion, this particular Encased holster requires the phone to be slid in lengthwise, and it's a friction fit -- there's no positive latch.
I also tried out faux leather holsters by Goalany and SumacLife from Amazon. The Goalany unit was too room -- it could handle a 3/4" phone or a thick Otterbox case. The SumacLife was a good fit, but not the swiftest to get the phone out.
https://www.encased.com/products/lg...-series-slim-grip-case-belt-clip-smooth-black
I ordered a bunch of cases to try out. Didn't like the Ringke Fusion clear. It's two pieces and as shown in other posts, is going to yellow. The Ringke Onyx was acceptable but I'm not a fan of the raised edge along either side of the screen. The TopAce Ultra Thin was probably my runner up. The case that came with the Encased holster is hard plastic and durable, but interferes slightly with my Tylt Vu charger (I have to slide the phone about 1/2 inch up the incline to get the charger to activate, then I can let it sit in the cradle properly and it charges no problem. Oh -- all of these cases worked well with the Encased holster.
The case I ended up with? The Lumion Huey. It's pretty minimal. The case is every so slightly raised along the top and bottom edges of the phone, but its edges sit a little lower along the sides, unlike the others. It's a compromise of protection for usability. It slides very nicely into the Encased holster, about the same amount of resistance The design along the back reminds me of the Pixels. I really like how they created a symmetric cut-out for the camera and flash -- this design decision makes the other cases look weird. The sides of the case are every so slightly ribbed in the long direction for grip, while enhancing the slide-in / slide-out properties of the holster. All of the cutouts are excellent with the exception of the audio jack, which is just slightly off (visible, but less than a millimeter).
https://www.androidheadlines.com/2017/08/lumion-announces-three-cases-for-the-lg-v30.html
As an aside, I wasn't too sure what to expect of the Huey, but it showed up in a plastic retail display package that looks like it should cost more than the TPU case contained inside!
Just seen this on encased. I am ordering one now.

Ah, thank you but curses! Also available on Amazon for $16, I see.
I have five holsters for other phones in front of me, delivered yesterday from Amazon.
I was just minutes away from transplanting the spring clip from a Seidio iPhone 6 plus holster onto a Seidio holster for the Nexus 6, which would have given me the perfect fit for my V30 in its slim Lumion Huey case.
I'm ordering the Encased holster now, but I'm going to hang on to my collection of others until I receive it, just to hedge my bet.
I am just excited for a spring clip. I absolutely dislike the ones you have to slide. The horizontal clip seems way to finicky. Sometimes I have to use both hands to get it out. So it is an definite for me to have the spring clip. I asked them earlier if they were going to have them and they told me no. So I was pleasantly surprised to see this.
Well poop, the Encased spring clip holster arrived today and it's s no-go with the TPU case I'm using.
I'm sure it's fine with the big, clunky., ugly hard plastic case that's included. With TPU there's a 1/8 gap between the screen and face of holster; it rattles around like mad.
I think I'll have to go with my hybrid Seidio setup of the iPhone 6 plus holster and Nexus 6 clip.

I don't think the case that came with it was too bulky. But at least the hole for the headphone jack is a little better than the other cases I have. It looks to be off a bit still. But even having smaller cases, I still don't like the wiggle but at least it won't be in my pocket. I dislike having my phone's in my pocket. The spring clip is a must though.

I'm using at Lumion Huey TPU case, and it's very similar in dimensions to the other TPU cases I ordered up, made by Ringke and TopACE.
As long as I can find a way to get Seidio's pin removed from, then resecured back into the spring clip hinge, I'll be golden with their iPhone 6 Plus holster for the V30.
Frustrating.

REVIEW: Seidio SURFACE Case and Holster "COMBO"
Purchased from Seidio: http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd2-hr3htsen-bk.htm
Search XDA/Google and you can find coupon codes!
I love Seidio SURFACE (aka Innocase) cases. I've had them for almost all the smartphones I've owned. Mostly I love them because of the face-in "Spring-Clip" Holster (more on that later).
The Seidio SURFACE Combo comes with the SURFACE case and Holster. The Holster is made to be able to hold the phone using the SURFACE case. It comes in 2 separate units since you can buy them separately. I suggest you order them together to save money.

Inside the packages are some instructions on how to use the case/holster and some advertisements for their other cases. Unfortunately, even at the $49 price tag of the COMBO, they do not include a screen protector. They sell their own screen protectors for $10. Included is also a coupon code good till 8/31/2010 for 10% off any order. The code is HWKPNS.
Review is split, 2nd post is the SURFACE Holster.
Seidio SURFACE Case
Product Page: http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csr3htsen-bk.htm
Case is plastic with soft-touch rubber coating. Unlike cheap eBay knockoffs, the rubber coating does not wear off. I've own several SURFACE cases for a long time and they're just as good as the first day out of the package.
The case is roughly 1-2mm thick. As you can see in the picture, Seidio is known for lining the inside of the case with felt. This protects your phone's back so it does not scratch it when it's in the case. It's a very nice feature for a $30 case (standalone price).
The SURFACE case is comprised of two parts. You slide the phone into the part half, then slide the bottom half of the case in and little nubs on the case lock in. Seidio must have refined this little nub. I don't remember previous SURFACE cases being so tight, which is a good thing.
Previous Seidio cases I've had, the two parts didn't lock tight enough so when holding the phone, you can feel the halves move a bit and wiggle. Let's hope this lasts and not just because it's new. Previous SURFACE cases also has a raised strip on the bottom half as to make it easier to grasp and open the case. This does not. Because of that and because it locks together pretty good, it was a bit hard taking it off. I had to push down on the bottom half, then kind of squeezing the side of the top half to try and raise the top part so I can slide the bottom part off (hopefully you can understand what I mean LOL).
EDIT: Just read the instructions that came with the case. I am doing it right. Squeeze the top half on the sides, then press the top part of the bottom half and wiggle it out.
There are cutouts for the appropriate buttons for the phone. It may be hard to see in the pictures, but there is a hole cutout for the microphone. On the back of the SURFACE case, there is only 1 hole cutout above the camera. There is no holes for the one next to the Speaker, below the LED Flash, or the 2 holes on the bottom of the case. These holes are "controversial", no one knows for sure if they are required to be open or not (If you look INSIDE the battery case, they're really not connected to anything). Since I've only had this case for a little while, I do not know if it affects my antenna signals. (Looks like Otterbox's case for the Sensation blocks all the same holes).
Both the headphone jack and micro-USB port are nice and big. Oversized and weirdly shaped cables should have no problems. Pushing the Power Button and Volume Buttons is also very nice. The case does not interfere.
EDIT: 3 MONTH UPDATE
I've had this case now for 3 months and yesterday a part of it broke:
The thin part in front of the power button cracked/broke. This makes the whole top section loose.
The case is warranted for 1year, I just sent them an email, previously on a different device, my Holster broke and they simply shipped me a new one.

Seidio SURFACE Holster Review
Seidio SURFACE Holster
Product Page: http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/hlhtsenasc.htm
Seidio makes THE best belt clip holster. They are my favorite!
Seidio makes 2 versions of these. One for a non cased phone and one for a Seidio SURFACE cased phone. Buy the combo, saves you $10.
The entire flat surface of the Holster is lined with felt. This protects the screen from scratches. It does get dusty and linty though if you're around those a lot. Taking a microfiber cloth and wiping it solves the issue. Previous Holsters I've had actually had a sticker placed on the felt side saying "FACE-IN DESIGN". I hated that, the sticker left residue on the felt! Seidio realized that and doesn't put a sticker on this new Holster.
Like most belt clips, it can rotate 180 degrees. The belt clip itself is very strong and thick.
The beauty of this holster is the "Spring-Clip" (old name of the holster) and the Face-In design.
The Face-In design of the holster products the phone's screen from being exposed. If you're like me, I bump into corners of desks, if it weren't for the face-in design, I'd definitely would have broken several phone screens.
"Spring-Clip". The clip is on a spring. It opens up and close. It holds the phone in the holster. The spring is pretty strong so nudging on things will not open the clip and make your phone fall. The clip itself is 1.25 inches in width so that it holds a majority of the top of the phone. It is off center so that the headphone jack is exposed and can be used while the phone is holstered.
Another neat feature of the "Spring-Clip" is that the edge of the clip that touches the phone/case is lined with thick rubber. Because the phone/case rubs on this clip when you remove and place your phone, this rubber edge is there to not damage your phone/case.
The design of the "Spring-Clip" lets you place your phone in the holster easily and fast too. You simply place the bottom of the phone to the bottom of the holster, then just push/snap the top of the phone to the holster. The spring opens up and closes onto the top of the phone. Again, because of the rubber edged clip, it does not damage the phone or case.
The Holster also is notched on the side of the micro-USB port. You can plug in the plug without removing the phone from the holster. This is especially great if you're like me. I get home, go to my desk and take the holster off my belt and plug the charger in all without removing it from the holster.
------------------
BONUS
Most of you love your TPU cases because they're inexpensive, well the Seidio Holster works with them! (Make sure you buy the SURFACE version of the Holster, not the regular naked phone version. I don't know if the ACTIVE holster works, I've never owned a Seidio ACTIVE case/holster)
I bought the "S-Line" TPU case while I want Seidio to release their SURFACE line.
It fits nice and snug. Pretty perfect fit.
Here is the picture:
Pics of Case/Holster worn:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16195184&postcount=4
------------------
All in all, another FANTASTIC case/holster from Seidio. They're worth the money if you want great cases/holsters that lasts. Again, use the code above for 10% off or search XDA/Google for coupon codes.
They do warranty their cases/holsters for ONE YEAR. I had a Holster case for an iPhone 3GS and the Spring-Clip broke (because of the iPhone design, the Spring-Clip had to be tiny and it was weak), I emailed them and they sent me a new one.

Regular way vertical:
Regular way horizontal:
Upside-down horizontal:
This is my preferred way to use it. It's upside down as the belt clip goes from under the belt, not over the belt. This way, the lever of the clip is not stick out and dig into your skin.
Thanks for your review it was great. I also have the seidio surface and holster combo too and it is working great. Your review was right on point, don't think I could have written any better. Your photos are great too. I also have a tpu case at home and will have to try that with the holster when I get home. It had crossed my mind to try that but I just did not get around to it as of yet.
But you are right seidio is one of the best cases out there along with the holster. A little expensive depending on what you are looking for but a great product nonetheless.
When I had my nexus one I had the same combination but they called it the seidio innocase at the time. That case took all the abuse and had the marks to show for it and my nexus one was in pristine condition, not a scuff mark.
Sent from HTC Sensation.
Great review! Seidio does makes the best belt clip holster and I've always had one without the case! Wish they made it for a happy naked Sensation...
Any issues with the case with regards to not having the holes on the back?
thank you very much for the new pictures! very helpful you are
So far no issues with the case even though four of the holes are covered. For me i was worried about that, but had to trust in that seidio knows what they are doing.
It took a little over a month before seidio released a case for the sensation so I hope a lot of thought was put into the design and functionality and so far everything is working well.

Great review! I am confused to the pros and cons of the Surface model vs. the Active model? I do not use belt clips. I prefer to slip in pants pocket or shirt pocket.
I have been a fan of Otterbox, however they are SLOWWWWWWW anymore on coming out for cases for new phones. Like to try this one.
Thanks

The Surface model is hard plastic with rubber coating. It is is in two pieces and it slides onto the top and bottom of the phone and attaches.
The Active case is a comprised of a silicone gel skin you wrap your phone in, then a hard plastic "X shaped "skeleton" goes over the silicone and grips onto the phone.
The Active case has grips on the silicone skin, so it's more grip-able. I thin it's a bit thicker too. Also since a it's silicone gel skin style, it wouldn't slip in/out of your pockets easily.
The Surface's "rubber" coating is very nice and smooth. I actually shouldn't call it rubber. It's the soft-touch plastic paint that the battery cover of the Sensation is. Very similar to that.

I'm just a fan of the Surface series. I've had 3-4 of them on all the phones I've had.
I don't like the squishy feeling of the silicone gels on the Otterbox. It's also much easier to clean when there's dust/lint on the Surface case vs gel skins.

Did you not read my review?
The mic on the bottom of the phone is not covered. The Mic above the rear Camera is not covered. The other 4 holes are covered.... and that's still controversial as to what affects it has. Otterbox covers theirs too. If you open and look at your battery cover inside, and look at those holes, where the gold contacts are, there's nothing there. It's just a hole, there's no electronics. Covering a hole shouldn't do anything if it's an antenna, signals don't need to go through a hole to go through.

It's very sturdy. The belt clip part is wide for wide belts about 2 inch wide belts. If you use a dress belt which is about 1 inch wide, course it wouldn't stay on the belt very well.
I know you havn't had the case long but have you noticed any difference in signal quality with/without the case on 3g/4g/wifi?
So I had an otterbox for my phone but it definitely added too much bulk.
I went ahead and bought a variation of this case: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SGH-i..._1_9?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1328678954&sr=1-9.
It barely adds any bulk, is comfortable to hold, and is probably one of the best slim cases for our phones. I haven't seen any other ones this size. I ordered a red one off ebay for about the same (amazon didn't cover them).
My white skyrocket + this red case looks amazing!
Platinum Series from Best Buy has been my favorite with several devices.
Hard rubber feel, adds minimal bulk, flat black
I forget the name brand manufacturer of the case, although I think best buys "brand" are cheaper anyhow. Guys on here know the name brand, I'll edit if i remember.

Ya they're the Seidio Surface cases and at Best Buy they're $35 whereas on the Seidio site they're $55 I think... I love the seidio cases and have used them on last few phones. Only thing about the PT cases from BB they're a little looser than usual... The bottom cap on my case got a little loose after taking the case off the first time and seems like it's getting looser every time I take the case off... Guess I'm gonna have to look for another case that fits in the holster...

I bought a slim case by Diztronic on Amazon and I'm pretty impressed. It has a simple design and doesn't add a lot of bulk. Best of all for $12 delivered it can't be beat.
How much thicker would you say that SGP made the phone?
There is a rubber that goes around the screen which slightly raises the case but not by much...the rest fits like a glove so not much thicker.
Rearth has a slim case. i love it! BEST SLIM CASE. i also have a sgp neo hybrid as my rugged case.

I agree with you, for a slim case there is nothing slimmer than a TPU case. Also the TPU is smooth enough to let it slip in and out of your pockets.

Have you seen the rearth case? It really looks like it's slimmer than the TPU cases...
It does look like the Rearth case is better than the TPU cases and I would like to try one but they are currently out of stock for the skyrocket everywhere I have looked. I don't like the tpu cases I have tried since the ones made for slim phones cover the buttons and make them hard to press. I like the "hard" mesh cases that are the most lightweight and thinnest that I have seen for other phones, but the only two types made for the Skyrocket that I have found are either hybrid with TPU underneath or one I found on ebay that is thin and light, but does not protect the bottom or top edges or the corners and sticks out a bit so looks poorly made. Hopefully Rearth will produce another batch for the skyrocket. I currently have a snap on hard plastic type that works fine but is difficult to remove and since I occassionally have to do battery pulls (flash a lot of roms) and sometimes use a seidio extended battery, this is a factor, plus it is not as slim as it could be.
Has anyone ever dropped their phone with a Diztronic case on fro 3+ ft? How did it fair?
I currently have an Otterbox Commuter on my Captivate (which is getting replaced by a Skyrocket) and it has kept my phone from damage, but it adds more size than I like. The TPU cases don't look like they would protect a phone from more than scratches and small drops.

I have dropped my SR from roughly 4ft on a couple of occasions with a diztronic case (and SGP protector). One time it landed flat on the screen and the other time it landed on the top left corner and bounced a bit. The case, however, did its job (as did the screen protector for that matter) wonderfully and not a mark on the phone from dropping.
However, I can say that the diztronic gets dust inside it very easily and it has started to scuff the back and sides of the phone where it rubs. Not that serious to some but it is happening more and more as the case stretches out so if dust scuffs drive you nuts, beware.
I got my SR off Cl and it came with an Otterbox Defender. Solid case if you abuse your phone. I didn't like the size though. I've used the TPU cases with other phones and they are good, I've also used Casemate Barelythere...another solid slim option too, but they both offer very little actual protection. I wanted some protection without all that bulk so I bought a Seidio Active and love it. It adds substantial protect without excessive bulk.

I got the black one, but to each his own...

I come from the "slim" mentality, formerly I had a case-mate "Barley There" for my Blackberry 9700 Case Mate - Barely There 9700 | case-mate.com and now I have the Seidio Surface.
I am not used to a case protecting the front of a device, as the Active does, but it has saved me from a bind or two. When I had the barely there, my phone's corners got dinged up all the time. However, I find myself taking the device out of the case often because despite the fact that it is very small, it's not as small as the device itself (the case probably adds 4mm).
For the Active I would say:
Slim: 4/5 (4MM > without)
Protection: 4/5 (Minimal shock absorption)
For the Rearth i'm thinking:
Slim: 5/5 (I would say 1 - 2 MM > without)
Protection: 2/5 (corners open, face open)

I dropped my skyrocket from 3ft before with the TPU case. It was onto concrete/ sidwalk/ roadway material. I dropped it twice and there was no damage.
The only bad thing about the TPU cases is that the matte grey one turns yellow after a while...
Also, like another member mentioned, the volume buttons are really hard to press, or they press themselves if you don't cut the plastic out... but if you do cut the plastic out of the area where the volume buttons are, then it's hard to press the volume buttons

Darn, that's the one I got
I have been using Sena cases for a couple of years now and was looking for a nice case for my new Nexus 4. I spoke with Sena on Monday to find out when the Nexus 4 case would be available to buy, and was told sometime in January. I already have a Galaxy Nexus Sena Ultra Slim Leather Case, but it would not fit well. So, if there is anyone like myself who can not wait, I compared the dimensions of the Nexus 4 to the phones that Sena has cases already available for, and decided to purchased the HTC One X case and it fits wonderfully. It is a little longer than the Nexus 4, but that will give it better protection when dropping it. My Galaxy Nexus case I bought from Sena didn't even fit as well as this does. If you don't like it, Sena gives you a 2 week full return and refund. Both pictures have the Nexus 4 inside the case.

Yes, and even easier than the Galaxy Nexus was with the case made for it after 6 month of usage.
After I broke my Galaxy Nexus, my Sena Slim case is lying around. I was hoping it might fit the Nexus 4, but it doesn't as you mention. Can you post some pictures so I could see how bad the fit is?
Thanks.
Do you use the phone in the leather case in your pockets? I love the look of that one and I hate the idea of covering up the beautiful N4 design with a TPU case. But i'm still trying to figure out how I use the leather case in day-to-day use.

I only use the case for carrying. When in my home and office, I place my phone on a Clingo universal dock.
I guess I'm asking if the leather case is slim enough to get in and out of jeans pockets.

Yes, very easily. They are very thin, but very durable.
It's not a case, just a pouch.
Personally I don't get why people get riled up about pouches. This one seems rather elegant so it seems like something I would use.
But the Mofi pouch... it's just an overpriced bag... You can get the materials for less than a dollar and it would only take an hour to cut and sew the punch yourself. The same can't be said for bumpers or TPU cases, or this leather pouch.
So what do you pouch users do with the pouch when you're using the phone? Slip it in your pocket? Hold it behind the phone? That's one of the reasons I bought a case, the Poetic Slimbook. It's leather and protects all parts of the phone, and in use the flap just has to be folded back behind the phone.

I paid $4.24 for mine, shipping included.
One hour of my time is worth more than $3.24. And that's if I could even do a proper job sewing.

When in travel, I will put the case in one of my jacket pockets or in one of my back pockets. This is so I can hold and feel the phone, not the case.
BTW, how does the Poetic Slimbook case hold the phone? In the pictures on Amazon, I can't tell how it is attached to the case? Are there straps?

Do you have a
Mofi pouch? I didn't really delve too much into that thread, but the OP had it quoted at $12. Way more than you'd pay for even a nice leather case. But at less than $5, thats not bad. Although I wouldn't consider it a value for the Mofi. The leather pouch in this thread seems quite nice and would be a steal at $5.

I think it's held in place by a hard plastic case. Search YouTube for "Poetic Slimbook iPhone 5" and you'll get a better idea of how it looks and functions. I posted the video review I found in one of the Poetic threads. Should be in my post history.

I'm a long term user of Sena cases, and I love them.
The first one I got was for my beloved iPhone 2G, may it RIP. The Sena slim pouch is a really well made quality product that I can warmly recommend to anyone.
I'm struggling with only a screen protector right now, so let's hope It'll be released for the nexus soon.

Just received this same case (HTC One X) for my Nexus 4 and the case is very tight causing the power button to push on as I slide the phone into the case. I almost feel it is unusable unless it stretches some....
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It'll stretch out. I also bought the HTC One X ultra slim and after about a day my power and volume buttons were not being depressed as often. By the second or third day, it fit perfectly snug without depressing the power button.
I found the best way to remove the phone from the pouch is to hold the front and back of the phone about halfway down and push the bottom the the phone up. Push until enough of the top is exposed where you can grip the top sides and pull out of the pouch.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Just ordered this case. It was between this and the Waterfield Suede Jacket (cheaper, not made of real leather if you care about that). Thanks to the OP for the photos and the tip. For anyone else interested there's a 20% coupon code for Sena that worked for me: PCWIPNK11. Just found it by searching online.
I'm having second thoughts about this case. Got it in the mail today. It is very tight. I had a hard time getting the phone out, after the first time I used it. I mean, a really hard time.
I know there's a break in period. However, because the leather is not very soft or pliable the pieces of leather that are folded in, at the edges of the case on the inside, where the case is sown together, rub pretty hard against the sides of the phone as you slide it in and out. (They held down my power key effectively enough to turn the phone off.)
I'm concerned over time these rough tabs of leather will scuff up the rubbery material on the sides of the Nexus 4. Even putting the phone in the case once and pulling it out, seemed to make some very minor (hard to see) scuffs. I don't want the break in period itself to damage the edges of the phone. And even after that, given the rough feel of these tabs of leather, I wonder if they'll scratch the edges of the phone.
I'm not expecting the phone to stay perfect forever, but I don't think a case acquired to protect the case should potentially be scuffing it up instead. I can see how it wouldn't be a problem with a phone that had sides made of smoother plastic or metal material. But I'm not sure the rubbery material on the Nexus 4 is going to hold up to abrasion very well.
I see now why many of the other higher quality leather cases fold the sewn together edges outward, away from the inner pocket for the phone.
Coming from the Droid line, I've had an Otterbox case for every single one, and it's saved the phone more than I care to admit. Now, I've left the Moto line to be on the pure side of Android. Unfortunately, Otterbox has been completely silent on the matter of a 6P case.
I bought the Verus case and this LK "heavy duty" case: Amazon # B015K7XRUM
The Verus is good, but the rim sticks with USB Type-C cables that are slightly larger on the connector grip. The LK is... okay. Yes, it's got a kickstand, yes it's got the hard body wrapper, but the rubber is complete horse manure. I can pull the rubber back to take the phone out with ease, without taking the hard plastic bit off first.
So I'm still on the hunt for a good hard body case, where I can use my Steelie magnet.
Options I see:
Amazon # B015X90UJS - Supcase Unicorn Beetle "Slim"
Amazon # B015X9UR2S - Supcase Unicorn Beetle "Rugged"
Note: I'm a long time lurker, urls are bad, m'kay?

After your comment, I realized I had a good filing kit, and shaved the port opening by just a little bit. Since I have the frost version of the 6P, the white of the plastic blends in fairly well.
I ended up getting the Supcase Unicorn Beetle "Slim" with the solid black backing, stuck my Steelie mount magnet to the back, and I'm completely good to go. It's a single piece case, which isn't my favorite option, but it's flexible enough to get the phone in, but rigid enough to be a task to get it out again. The solid rubber bumper is of good quality, and the backing is a great design. The fingerprint reader cutout is slightly larger than the fingerprint reader (unlike the Verus, which is the exact measurement) for easy access. I could continue, but Pilz has a better thread of case reviews (thread titled "Case Comparison: Spigen, Diztronic, TUDIA, SupCase & more").
For those who need a carry case, the Nite Ize Clip Case Sideways XXL is big enough to fit the 6P (search for the model number CCS2L-01-R3)

Hey with the Steelie mount / magnet comobo that you are using do you notice if it effects your wireless / gps? I kind of depend on the GPS and wireless features heavily for my usage.
one word... Poetic Revolution case... freaking awesome...
They sent me one for review, not a fan. TOO big, and I like a big tough case, and too many styling decisions for no reason. Fake screws, sharp corners, didn't like it.
Now the TUDIA OMNIX, that's a nice case...
Have you looked at the Speck Candyshell Grip? Not quite as rugged as an Otterbox, but it's still a polycarbonate shell with an inner silicone layer fused inside. Ports are third-party friendly and a car mount magnet fits inside just fine.

Not that I've noticed. I play Ingress, which is very GPS and data dependent, and I've never had a problem since the Droid 4 (Droid 4 -> Droid Turbo -> Nexus 6P). For things like Ingress, it can mess with the compass (the direction it thinks you're pointing).
Has anyone ever tried an Evocel case? It looks kind of like a commuter series Otterbox, and their cases get pretty good reviews. I might try it out soon. I have the Speck Candyshell case now, but it's not super protective and the shiny black plastic scratches and shows fingerprints...

I haven't but I've been thinking about picking one up. They look really nice at the reviews are good but nobody's gone really super specific into the touch and feel. If too much of it is slick hard plastic and a fingerprint magnet I don't really want it. But it looks like this might fit inside of the unicorn beetle holster.

So I got that Evocel case and it's pretty great! Not quite the same quality as an Commuter series Otterbox, the rubber is a little less soft, the plastic a little cheaper and less flexible, but for $10 that's little to complain about. The buttons are slightly harder to press than without a case, but I prefer it.
The back plastic is mostly matte and doesn't show fingerprints very well. To me it's pretty grippy, but it's flat and not textured like an Otterbox case. Overall, I'd say it's worth $10 for sure!
Do you by chance have any holsters to see if it fits into them? Thanks for getting back, I was holding off on buying one, now I think I may.

Nah, I don't have a holster. Best of luck on that front!
I have a case similar to the evocell. its decent. I decided to pick up the unicorn beetle heavy duty. Thats what we use at work for our iphone 6 and we dont have any bend problems with them. Im not saying it cant happen. My only complaint is the plastic screen protector with them. they become scratched and usually have to be ripped out and replaced with a glass or vinyl one. I got the black one because Im cheap, but i was really digging the white one they have on amazon.
I would recommend the Nexus 6P Unicorn Beetle Pro Full Body Rugged, if you can find the old design.. the new one i find it ugly...
This is the new design,

Old design shows more of the screen but there was some flaws with it, the built-in screen protector was poorly done. It can be fixed by removing it and using a separate screen protector, I have a TGSP and its nice.
the new designed one doesnt bother me. just ads that much more protection. The iphone ones are the same so im not sure why they made the 6p different

I have no experience with this brand and it doesn't seem to be common in the USA, but looking at their site, they actually have a flip case for the 6P with SLEEP FUNCTION! Other than the grip-of-death folio case from google, I could not find any flip cases with the rare-as-unicorns sleep function. I almost gave up until I came across your post. Seriously, I was to the point where I was thinking of gutting a flip case to insert a magnet into it. Thank you!

It's not cheap, but it's still cheaper than the folio case and seems much better looking. I'll update when I get it. I think the maker is in Hong Kong so it'll take at least a week.

Here's few pictures that someone else took from Tetded leather case (without flipcover). Apparently it feels quite good (not slippery at all).
I remember the g3 community have alot of people buying the case. Tetded makes cases for most phones so the reviews are all over the place.
I purchased a folio case for my Nexus 6 from this company and was impressed with the quality. I ultimately didn't use it much as I decided that the minimal bulk of the case added to the already overly bulky phone made carrying it in my pocket uncomfortable. Oh, and the back of the case was thick enough (leather over a plastic case mold) that it prevented wireless charging on the 6 to work.
Most curious of the feel of the leather. nothing worse then cheap plasticy leather
^^^...that's a great point.
needless to say...curiosity got the better of me and i ordered one.
when it gets here...i'll post a review.
as i mentioned...the apple case for the 6 is pretty nice. it's actually ALL leather.
feels great and the phone sits well inside of it.
this one is actually leather seemingly wrapped around a plastic shell?
so, we'll see.
i think it might be a little bulky/thick for my tastes...
but, i'm willing to give it a shot.
in the meantime...my adopted protective case arrives later today.

^^^...that's a great point.
needless to say...curiosity got the better of me and i ordered one.
when it gets here...i'll post a review.
as i mentioned...the apple case for the 6 is pretty nice. it's actually ALL leather.
feels great and the phone sits well inside of it.
this one is actually leather seemingly wrapped around a plastic shell?
so, we'll see.

look forward to the review!
The one for the 6, which looks exactly like this model for the 6P, is basically a ultra thin case (think Spigen Thin-Fit) with a leather skin. The leather, at least on the one for my 6, was impressive and felt nice. Very well finished and detailed. The case fit well and snapped onto the phone with authority, and was a precise fit.

that's exactly my point.
it's a fantastic case with seemingly quality leather and, like you mentioned, fits like a glove.
doesn't add much bulk, if any, it's perfectly grippy, looks fantastic, and seems like it could last a while.
makes me hope the tetded is half as well made and worth it.
we'll see.
too bad they don't have brown leather, just the garish colors. I've just about given up on slickwraps natural skins

the premium flipcover cases have the nicer brown leather (multi tone).
I have the black slim back leather case from tetded for my 6p. It feels great in hand and is not plastic feeling, it feels like a natural leather wallet texture. I wish it was smooth leather though, but its as close as I can find to be like the apple leather cases. It took a few weeks to get to me though because its coming from Hong Kong. My wife likes it as well and had me order a white one for her, so its on the way too. The inside of the case has a microfiber insert to protect from rubbing the finish of the phone off.
Overall I like it and the phone is way less slippery with this case. Also I'm using it with the intelliarmor HD glass screen protector and both work great together.
Hope this helps.

I've ordered red one too. Can't wait!

Does it have a magnet to close the flip cover? I have the folio case, but there is no magnet to keep the flip cover closed and it bugs me.

Unfortunately I cannot say about a flip case, as I have the one that only covers the back.
I don't like how it doesn't completely cover the edges on the top and bottom. I've had phones crack in those exact areas.
I just received the Dijon II case. It looks good, the cut-outs are fine, fits well, and you can easily remove it from the case. It does have a magnet to sleep/wakeup the screen BUT there are no magnets to keep the screen closed. The cover is not very light so it doesn't open by itself that easily.
They do make a Dijon III case that has a lip in the middle to keep the cover closed BUT there are no speakers holes like on the Dijon II, which makes it not possible to talk on the phone with the cover closed. If the Dijon III had those holes, I would get that version.
Time to wrap it up and put in under the tree...
Thinking of ordering one with flip.
But I'll await your reviews.
My question would be, does the flip stay closed when it should or does the flip stay half open when left on a table?

My question would be, does the flip stay closed when you leave it on a table? Or is it like half open?
And does it stay open when you like it to, or does it self- close?
Mine stays closed and the lid lays completely flat. There is no magnetic clasp however so the lid will flop around when in use and I normally flop it around back while using the phone where it also lays flat. The power on/off is flawless. Extra bonus if you are in a trusted location because you can simply open it and swipe straight into the gui. I'd rate the quality as acceptable for the price. Doesn't feel cheap but you're not going to going to be wowed. I haven't had too many cases of this type but for what it's worth it is easily the least bulky of the lot.
Greatest weakness would be poor drop protection for a case of this kind. The ends have only modest protection and the cover may open when dipped exposing the screen since there is nothing keeping it closed.
Overall it is about what I expected and I'm happy with the purchase. It looks and feels nice, offers half decent protection even if it does lag behind similar cases, the power function is nice.
