I have been using Sena cases for a couple of years now and was looking for a nice case for my new Nexus 4. I spoke with Sena on Monday to find out when the Nexus 4 case would be available to buy, and was told sometime in January. I already have a Galaxy Nexus Sena Ultra Slim Leather Case, but it would not fit well. So, if there is anyone like myself who can not wait, I compared the dimensions of the Nexus 4 to the phones that Sena has cases already available for, and decided to purchased the HTC One X case and it fits wonderfully. It is a little longer than the Nexus 4, but that will give it better protection when dropping it. My Galaxy Nexus case I bought from Sena didn't even fit as well as this does. If you don't like it, Sena gives you a 2 week full return and refund. Both pictures have the Nexus 4 inside the case.

Very nice! Thanks for the photos.
Easy to get the N4 in and out using the One X case?

Yes, and even easier than the Galaxy Nexus was with the case made for it after 6 month of usage.
After I broke my Galaxy Nexus, my Sena Slim case is lying around. I was hoping it might fit the Nexus 4, but it doesn't as you mention. Can you post some pictures so I could see how bad the fit is?
Thanks.
Do you use the phone in the leather case in your pockets? I love the look of that one and I hate the idea of covering up the beautiful N4 design with a TPU case. But i'm still trying to figure out how I use the leather case in day-to-day use.

I only use the case for carrying. When in my home and office, I place my phone on a Clingo universal dock.
I guess I'm asking if the leather case is slim enough to get in and out of jeans pockets.

Yes, very easily. They are very thin, but very durable.
It's not a case, just a pouch.
Personally I don't get why people get riled up about pouches. This one seems rather elegant so it seems like something I would use.
But the Mofi pouch... it's just an overpriced bag... You can get the materials for less than a dollar and it would only take an hour to cut and sew the punch yourself. The same can't be said for bumpers or TPU cases, or this leather pouch.
So what do you pouch users do with the pouch when you're using the phone? Slip it in your pocket? Hold it behind the phone? That's one of the reasons I bought a case, the Poetic Slimbook. It's leather and protects all parts of the phone, and in use the flap just has to be folded back behind the phone.

I paid $4.24 for mine, shipping included.
One hour of my time is worth more than $3.24. And that's if I could even do a proper job sewing.

When in travel, I will put the case in one of my jacket pockets or in one of my back pockets. This is so I can hold and feel the phone, not the case.
BTW, how does the Poetic Slimbook case hold the phone? In the pictures on Amazon, I can't tell how it is attached to the case? Are there straps?

Do you have a
Mofi pouch? I didn't really delve too much into that thread, but the OP had it quoted at $12. Way more than you'd pay for even a nice leather case. But at less than $5, thats not bad. Although I wouldn't consider it a value for the Mofi. The leather pouch in this thread seems quite nice and would be a steal at $5.

I think it's held in place by a hard plastic case. Search YouTube for "Poetic Slimbook iPhone 5" and you'll get a better idea of how it looks and functions. I posted the video review I found in one of the Poetic threads. Should be in my post history.

I'm a long term user of Sena cases, and I love them.
The first one I got was for my beloved iPhone 2G, may it RIP. The Sena slim pouch is a really well made quality product that I can warmly recommend to anyone.
I'm struggling with only a screen protector right now, so let's hope It'll be released for the nexus soon.

Just received this same case (HTC One X) for my Nexus 4 and the case is very tight causing the power button to push on as I slide the phone into the case. I almost feel it is unusable unless it stretches some....
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It'll stretch out. I also bought the HTC One X ultra slim and after about a day my power and volume buttons were not being depressed as often. By the second or third day, it fit perfectly snug without depressing the power button.
I found the best way to remove the phone from the pouch is to hold the front and back of the phone about halfway down and push the bottom the the phone up. Push until enough of the top is exposed where you can grip the top sides and pull out of the pouch.

Just ordered this case. It was between this and the Waterfield Suede Jacket (cheaper, not made of real leather if you care about that). Thanks to the OP for the photos and the tip. For anyone else interested there's a 20% coupon code for Sena that worked for me: PCWIPNK11. Just found it by searching online.
I'm having second thoughts about this case. Got it in the mail today. It is very tight. I had a hard time getting the phone out, after the first time I used it. I mean, a really hard time.
I know there's a break in period. However, because the leather is not very soft or pliable the pieces of leather that are folded in, at the edges of the case on the inside, where the case is sown together, rub pretty hard against the sides of the phone as you slide it in and out. (They held down my power key effectively enough to turn the phone off.)
I'm concerned over time these rough tabs of leather will scuff up the rubbery material on the sides of the Nexus 4. Even putting the phone in the case once and pulling it out, seemed to make some very minor (hard to see) scuffs. I don't want the break in period itself to damage the edges of the phone. And even after that, given the rough feel of these tabs of leather, I wonder if they'll scratch the edges of the phone.
I'm not expecting the phone to stay perfect forever, but I don't think a case acquired to protect the case should potentially be scuffing it up instead. I can see how it wouldn't be a problem with a phone that had sides made of smoother plastic or metal material. But I'm not sure the rubbery material on the Nexus 4 is going to hold up to abrasion very well.
I see now why many of the other higher quality leather cases fold the sewn together edges outward, away from the inner pocket for the phone.

So I had an otterbox for my phone but it definitely added too much bulk.
I went ahead and bought a variation of this case: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SGH-i..._1_9?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1328678954&sr=1-9.
It barely adds any bulk, is comfortable to hold, and is probably one of the best slim cases for our phones. I haven't seen any other ones this size. I ordered a red one off ebay for about the same (amazon didn't cover them).
My white skyrocket + this red case looks amazing!
Platinum Series from Best Buy has been my favorite with several devices.
Hard rubber feel, adds minimal bulk, flat black
I forget the name brand manufacturer of the case, although I think best buys "brand" are cheaper anyhow. Guys on here know the name brand, I'll edit if i remember.

Ya they're the Seidio Surface cases and at Best Buy they're $35 whereas on the Seidio site they're $55 I think... I love the seidio cases and have used them on last few phones. Only thing about the PT cases from BB they're a little looser than usual... The bottom cap on my case got a little loose after taking the case off the first time and seems like it's getting looser every time I take the case off... Guess I'm gonna have to look for another case that fits in the holster...
This is the one I got this from eBay (link):

I bought a slim case by Diztronic on Amazon and I'm pretty impressed. It has a simple design and doesn't add a lot of bulk. Best of all for $12 delivered it can't be beat.
How much thicker would you say that SGP made the phone?
There is a rubber that goes around the screen which slightly raises the case but not by much...the rest fits like a glove so not much thicker.
Rearth has a slim case. i love it! BEST SLIM CASE. i also have a sgp neo hybrid as my rugged case.

I agree with you, for a slim case there is nothing slimmer than a TPU case. Also the TPU is smooth enough to let it slip in and out of your pockets.

It does look like the Rearth case is better than the TPU cases and I would like to try one but they are currently out of stock for the skyrocket everywhere I have looked. I don't like the tpu cases I have tried since the ones made for slim phones cover the buttons and make them hard to press. I like the "hard" mesh cases that are the most lightweight and thinnest that I have seen for other phones, but the only two types made for the Skyrocket that I have found are either hybrid with TPU underneath or one I found on ebay that is thin and light, but does not protect the bottom or top edges or the corners and sticks out a bit so looks poorly made. Hopefully Rearth will produce another batch for the skyrocket. I currently have a snap on hard plastic type that works fine but is difficult to remove and since I occassionally have to do battery pulls (flash a lot of roms) and sometimes use a seidio extended battery, this is a factor, plus it is not as slim as it could be.
Has anyone ever dropped their phone with a Diztronic case on fro 3+ ft? How did it fair?
I currently have an Otterbox Commuter on my Captivate (which is getting replaced by a Skyrocket) and it has kept my phone from damage, but it adds more size than I like. The TPU cases don't look like they would protect a phone from more than scratches and small drops.

I have dropped my SR from roughly 4ft on a couple of occasions with a diztronic case (and SGP protector). One time it landed flat on the screen and the other time it landed on the top left corner and bounced a bit. The case, however, did its job (as did the screen protector for that matter) wonderfully and not a mark on the phone from dropping.
However, I can say that the diztronic gets dust inside it very easily and it has started to scuff the back and sides of the phone where it rubs. Not that serious to some but it is happening more and more as the case stretches out so if dust scuffs drive you nuts, beware.
I got my SR off Cl and it came with an Otterbox Defender. Solid case if you abuse your phone. I didn't like the size though. I've used the TPU cases with other phones and they are good, I've also used Casemate Barelythere...another solid slim option too, but they both offer very little actual protection. I wanted some protection without all that bulk so I bought a Seidio Active and love it. It adds substantial protect without excessive bulk.

I got the black one, but to each his own...

I come from the "slim" mentality, formerly I had a case-mate "Barley There" for my Blackberry 9700 Case Mate - Barely There 9700 | case-mate.com and now I have the Seidio Surface.
I am not used to a case protecting the front of a device, as the Active does, but it has saved me from a bind or two. When I had the barely there, my phone's corners got dinged up all the time. However, I find myself taking the device out of the case often because despite the fact that it is very small, it's not as small as the device itself (the case probably adds 4mm).
For the Active I would say:
Slim: 4/5 (4MM > without)
Protection: 4/5 (Minimal shock absorption)
For the Rearth i'm thinking:
Slim: 5/5 (I would say 1 - 2 MM > without)
Protection: 2/5 (corners open, face open)

I dropped my skyrocket from 3ft before with the TPU case. It was onto concrete/ sidwalk/ roadway material. I dropped it twice and there was no damage.
The only bad thing about the TPU cases is that the matte grey one turns yellow after a while...
Also, like another member mentioned, the volume buttons are really hard to press, or they press themselves if you don't cut the plastic out... but if you do cut the plastic out of the area where the volume buttons are, then it's hard to press the volume buttons

Hey guys,
I've been using the Seidio Active case for my Nexus S since I've gotten this phone. I have a Nexus 4 in order and would like to know if there are existing cases for the Nexus 4 that's similar to this design? I've found it to be the best based on what I put my device through and it has served my Nexus S really well.
Seidio currently does not have a case available for the Nexus 4 as it's "under development". Are there any alternatives?
This is what I have now for the Nexus S:

Unfortunately , none that I know of. Only one which comes close is the ionic guardian. It got v.bad reviews bcoz they forgot/neglected to put slot for the speakers in the first revision. Now they have supposedly fixed the issue and re-released it. Not sure about the reviews for those though. [ the new rev, I mean; but at least the cost is v.low ]

Which is also under development. And if you want to expand, there are others like trident etc. which are also doing the case.
Every case that offers actual protection is under development right now. If I had to guess, the first of them would have their initial batch out in early January 2013

Guess having a "7 - 8 weeks" delivery date isn't looking too bad now seeing there are no protective cases out there until January at least. For what I do (computer and networking repairs, I crawl through a lot of tight spaces), if I don't properly protect my phone, it'll break (esp. since the Nexus 4 is made of glass doesn't really help lol).
If there are other cases out there that's worth a look, please send them my way.

My Small review on the Ebay Case
i just got mine on Friday and let me say that the case is awesome! not much corner protection like the Iconic Armor case but the fact that it covers the USB and Headphone jack almost completely is just what i needed so sweat wont try to get in when i'm at the gym! it also has a built in kickstand which is very sturdy since it has support arms for added rigidity and it also clicks in place!! making remember of my OG evo4g days! the red is actually not maroon color like in the photo is most like a... regular red (not too bright, not too dark) the holster has this furry suede like material on the inside to protect your screen if you don't have a screen protector. the only problem i had was that if the holster is clipped to your belt and you get in and out of your car, there is a chance that the holster will separate from the clip... but if you take off the phone and press the holster body against the clip, it will click back together!
overall i give this case a 9/10!! i would of giving it a ten if it offered more protection on the corners but for 12 bucks, i can hardly complain!!

How thick is the phone with the case on? The ridges on the back seem to add 3-5 mm

This first one was with the largest headphone jack I had... the Audio-Technica M50s headphones. The case its self smells like it was made from recycled tires. I'm going to let it sit out for a few days in hopes that it goes away. In the meantime, I'm very happy with a TPU case that I got for about $2.30 on eBay that I can use for the time being.

i just got mine on Friday and let me say that the case is awesome! not much corner protection like the Iconic Armor case but the fact that it covers the USB and Headphone jack almost completely is just what i needed so sweat wont try to get in when i'm at the gym! it also has a built in kickstand which is very sturdy since it has support arms for added rigidity and it also clicks in place!! making remember of my OG evo4g days! the red is actually not maroon color like in the photo is most like a... regular red (not too bright, not too dark) the holster has this furry suede like material on the inside to protect your screen if you don't have a screen protector. the only problem i had was that if the holster is clipped to your belt and you get in and out of your car, there is a chance that the holster will separate from the clip... but if you take off the phone and press the holster body against the clip, it will click back together!
overall i give this case a 9/10!! i would of giving it a ten if it offered more protection on the corners but for 12 bucks, i can hardly complain!!

At least it's environmentally friendly if it's made out of recycled tires ? That's good to see that even thick headphone jacks work with the case, how's the rubber part of the case, does it feel poorly made or is it rather good? Lastly, does it allow enough clearance for a snug connection for the USB cable?
The red looks pretty good. I'm now undecided on colour lol.

This really depends on what you're expecting. The way the case is designed is that you put on the silicon sleeve (thing that smells like burned tires) and then the plastic part wraps around it securing it into place. If you compare the silicon to TPU, you'd think it was garbage. But really, it's just there to soften the blow as the plastic takes impact.
The stock charger fits fine into the phone just fine. USB has standards that define how large the head can be, so I assume anything out there will work. All of the inserts and buttons are covered, so there is a little flap over the bottom of the case to protect the port which can get annoying. Nothing a box cutter can't fix if it annoys you too much though. Volume control and power button are both easy to press over the silicon.
I was considering taking my TPU case and slicing it up a bit to make it fit in to replace the silicon sleeve. This would look pretty awesome in it, but I'll need to slice it up a bit so the plastic outer shell can wrap around it. Worst case scenario is that it's only a little over $3 to replace if things go wrong. As is, the silicon is a little difficult to slide out of the hostler (could be considered a good thing I suppose). TPU should be a little easier with it.
All in all, my TPU case was $3.04. The hybrid case was $9.95. Both combined are about the price of what I paid for my Androidifed case by CruzerLite, and I like both more than the Cruzer one. The Androidifed cases were very disappointing for the N4 IMO.

As long as the silicone is similar to the Seidio case I have, I honestly won't have gripes about it. TPUs are not soft enough to provide good impact absorption I need.
Alright, I'm pretty much sold on the case, still need to decide black or blue lol.

I'm not a fan of bulky cases that add alot of girth to an already large phone. Also don't like silicone as it's too much friction going in and out of my pocket.
When I purchased my LG G3 at Best Buy I picked up their "house brand" most inexpensive case/condom for the phone and it is fantastic. Just thick enough to provide edge and corner protection from a mild fall but not so thick as to add alot of bulk to it. The G3 was also a very difficult phone to hold... almost too thin at the edges. This gave it a nice grippy edge to hold on to, but it wasn't silicone so it still slid in and out of my pocket.
Going to all the major retailers now is nothing but iphone iphone iphone and MAYBE a few S5 and S6 cases. Bestbuy, Target, Walmart, etc.
I have Amazon prime but this is something I'd like to see in person, maybe take out of the box before buying.
So any recommendations? Hope I have explained the type of case I'm looking for. I really don't want to ding up my new beautiful aluminum sides or god forbid shatter the glass. The edges are just a bit too slippery for my liking.
Thanks!
-Jon
I bought the Spigen Neo Hybrid case for around $14 on Amazon and I love it. It's thin and has a premium feel to it.

Looks like it is too late for my recommendation, but I really like the Samsung Protective Case made by Samsung:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...&tag=httpwwwdolphc-20&linkId=OMBRYAX56M45VB35
I have the Diztronic case as well, and don't like it as much because it is slippery, has less protection, and doesn't look as good as the Samsung one.
I second this guy...
I have a Spigen Neo Hybrid, a Spigen tough armor and an orange UAG case.
out of all I found out how well made the Samsung protective case is, also the feel in hand is great, not bulky very durable and it does protect the phone very good.
it has become my daily favorite case.
I still use the UAG case from time to time for looks but still bulky.
and well the Spigen cases I only used them for a while.

I received my diztronic case today. Exactly what i was looking for. Only downside so far is it makes it very difficult to activate one handed mode. I actually use that feature daily.
I imagine any case will do this though. Thank you very much for the recommendation!

The first case I ordered was the Samsung OEM listed above. I used it for two weeks and decided to also order the Diztronic one I linked to. Between them, I use the Diztronic most of the time and actually like how it feels more than the Samsung one. But the Samsung is harder and does provide a little more protection.
I used this approach on my Note 2. Mask off your screen with masking tape. Apply 3 layers of electrical tape to al 4 corners of your device, neatly and evenly trimmed to act as "bumpers". Spray light even coats of Plastidip, 6 coats should do. If you don't like it or it becomes damaged you can peel it off. Apply your bumpers 1 layer at a time . Run a razor around the edge of the battery cover when dry, you can easily remove the battery cover whenever. Thinnest phone case you can imagine, and grippy. Minimal protection though

Yah I bought the Samsung OEM case in blue and I bought a Casology Bumper case in carbon Fiber. Both are superb but the samsung one is a bit thinner. Bot cases, though feel like you have the phone without a case. I like the corner bumpers as well on the Samsung Protective Case. It provides a very slim design without compromising protection.
Using black/grey version of Samsung's protective case. It is very good & slim. From back, the phone looks like Note 4 Active! Only thing I miss is a kickstand.

How is it when taking it out of your pocket? Is it smooth or is it like those silicone cases that are hard to take out? I recently got a Note 4 and I'm also looking for a case that's thin. Also, has anyone ever bought a S Pen from amazon or ebay and recommend it? I bought my Note 4 used and it didn't have the S Pen. Samsung website has them for $30 and it seems pretty expensive for a stylus.

Just get the stylus from Ebay. They have the original ones and theyre like 2 for $5 with rubber tips and everything. As for the Samsung Case, it provides decent protection and is very easy to take out of one's pocket. The silicon around the sides gives it grip but doesn't makenit clumsy to take out as the back is plastic and much more smooth.

I have several Spigens, Ringkes, Verus cases, OEM wireless flip case. The TPU above is the one I keep going back to. Only 0.6mm thick, makes the phone feel "caseless".
Similar to the LG V30 "cases" thread -- but specifically for belt holsters/wallet style holder for the LG V30. I do NOT like to stick my phone in my pants pocket, where's there's car keys, coins, etc that may scratch the display. Even with a bumper case, I also use a belt-style holster for my smartphones. My wife uses something similar to stick her phone in her purse, to protect against all the metal objects in there. We both have TPU bumper cases for drops. This is for additional protection when not using the phone and means to carry it.
These are my search parameters, but you can change them... You can narrow to type of material, design, whatever. Right now there's almost a thousand search results and that will probably only increase!
LG V30 HOLSTERS: EBAY LISTINGS -- LOWEST PRICES FIRST, FREE SHIPPING, BUY IT NOW, WORLDWIDE SEARCH.
SOME of the belt style holsters do attach to the back of the phone, so there may some overlap in the "cases" and "holsters" threads -- but I thought this category is also important as it's not the bumper cases or even hybrid cases.

Here's a leather belt LG V30 holster that is wide enough to also let you have a bumper case on your phone. Just specify in the drop down menu how big you want "Otterbox Symmetry" big or "Otterbox Defender" big? Of course, prices change, but that's the price right now.

Hey, thanks for that. I will not buy this phone without a holster -- I need it for work -- and I hate the thought of running the V30 with an ugly case. Your setup might do the trick until a case-free holster is released.
On that note, I chatted with Seidio and emailed Encased.
They both told me there are no current plans for naked holster (Sedio "Spring Clip" series and Encased "Case Free" series). But the V30 is getting enough strong buzz that I'm counting on there being demand for it.
In the past, I've compared dimensions of other phones and found holsters that were a close enough fit to hold me over. I'm not finding a good candidate for this phone.

While that may be true, other phones are selling more. no holster sorry.
Hi
Hey Now! I've got my chosen combo.
For the holster, I picked up the Encased Duraclip that Steve841 linked to above. Note that unlike the Seidio Spring Clip, which has a great and easy to use mechanism to "clip in" and "clip out" the phone in a very fluid motion, this particular Encased holster requires the phone to be slid in lengthwise, and it's a friction fit -- there's no positive latch.
I also tried out faux leather holsters by Goalany and SumacLife from Amazon. The Goalany unit was too room -- it could handle a 3/4" phone or a thick Otterbox case. The SumacLife was a good fit, but not the swiftest to get the phone out.
https://www.encased.com/products/lg...-series-slim-grip-case-belt-clip-smooth-black
I ordered a bunch of cases to try out. Didn't like the Ringke Fusion clear. It's two pieces and as shown in other posts, is going to yellow. The Ringke Onyx was acceptable but I'm not a fan of the raised edge along either side of the screen. The TopAce Ultra Thin was probably my runner up. The case that came with the Encased holster is hard plastic and durable, but interferes slightly with my Tylt Vu charger (I have to slide the phone about 1/2 inch up the incline to get the charger to activate, then I can let it sit in the cradle properly and it charges no problem. Oh -- all of these cases worked well with the Encased holster.
The case I ended up with? The Lumion Huey. It's pretty minimal. The case is every so slightly raised along the top and bottom edges of the phone, but its edges sit a little lower along the sides, unlike the others. It's a compromise of protection for usability. It slides very nicely into the Encased holster, about the same amount of resistance The design along the back reminds me of the Pixels. I really like how they created a symmetric cut-out for the camera and flash -- this design decision makes the other cases look weird. The sides of the case are every so slightly ribbed in the long direction for grip, while enhancing the slide-in / slide-out properties of the holster. All of the cutouts are excellent with the exception of the audio jack, which is just slightly off (visible, but less than a millimeter).
https://www.androidheadlines.com/2017/08/lumion-announces-three-cases-for-the-lg-v30.html
As an aside, I wasn't too sure what to expect of the Huey, but it showed up in a plastic retail display package that looks like it should cost more than the TPU case contained inside!
Just seen this on encased. I am ordering one now.

Ah, thank you but curses! Also available on Amazon for $16, I see.
I have five holsters for other phones in front of me, delivered yesterday from Amazon.
I was just minutes away from transplanting the spring clip from a Seidio iPhone 6 plus holster onto a Seidio holster for the Nexus 6, which would have given me the perfect fit for my V30 in its slim Lumion Huey case.
I'm ordering the Encased holster now, but I'm going to hang on to my collection of others until I receive it, just to hedge my bet.
I am just excited for a spring clip. I absolutely dislike the ones you have to slide. The horizontal clip seems way to finicky. Sometimes I have to use both hands to get it out. So it is an definite for me to have the spring clip. I asked them earlier if they were going to have them and they told me no. So I was pleasantly surprised to see this.
Well poop, the Encased spring clip holster arrived today and it's s no-go with the TPU case I'm using.
I'm sure it's fine with the big, clunky., ugly hard plastic case that's included. With TPU there's a 1/8 gap between the screen and face of holster; it rattles around like mad.
I think I'll have to go with my hybrid Seidio setup of the iPhone 6 plus holster and Nexus 6 clip.

I don't think the case that came with it was too bulky. But at least the hole for the headphone jack is a little better than the other cases I have. It looks to be off a bit still. But even having smaller cases, I still don't like the wiggle but at least it won't be in my pocket. I dislike having my phone's in my pocket. The spring clip is a must though.

I'm using at Lumion Huey TPU case, and it's very similar in dimensions to the other TPU cases I ordered up, made by Ringke and TopACE.
As long as I can find a way to get Seidio's pin removed from, then resecured back into the spring clip hinge, I'll be golden with their iPhone 6 Plus holster for the V30.
Frustrating.

I was looking at buying the official Samsung "Galaxy Note9 Rugged Protective Cover" case but I was wondering if anyone currently has one and can attest to if it's actually a nice case or not. From the videos I have watch on the S9/S9+ versions of it, it seems to be a solid case. Kinda stinks that it doesn't come in some form of blue but I can settle for black.

From the videos I have watch on the S9/S9+ versions of it, it seems to be a solid case. Kinda stinks that it doesn't come in some form of blue but I can settle for black.

Also seems very expensive compared to the similar one doe the N8.

If you ask me go for spigen tough armor...much cheaper and better (have kickstand too). I always though that mentioned spigen is big and ugly but once when you try it you will buy it for every new phone thrust me Best grip in the hand and higher security.

I had that Spigen case on my LG V20 and I loved it. The only gripe I had was the kickstand was kind of crappy. The Samsung one seems to have a much higher quality kickstand with a spring in it.
Well don't know which problems you had with kickstand, but I'm using it often and no problems at all now on s9+ or earlier phones. Waiting for comparison if you buy samsung legit case

I'll most definitely post a comparison if I buy the Samsung one
I have the rugged cover and the tough armor. I have been rocking tough armors on most of my phone's lately. I like the Samsung rugged cover better though. Much comfier to hold, feels closer to he sexiness of the note 9, much better kickstand and I ended up liking the textured much better than I thought. My 9noy gripe with it though is the bixby button. All the buttons have great tactile feel but the bixby button is begging to be accidentally pressed. Also, the price is outrageous.
I like the tough armor but it feels too boxy for a sexy phone, the buttons are fine but not as easily accessible vs the rugged cover and the rugged cover feels better to hold for longer uses. The good thing about the tough armor is the price and the bixby button is less likely to be pressed on accident.
If the $40 bothers you, I would get the tough armor for now and wait unitl the rugged cover is ~$20 on Amazon. My shortcomings may not be the same as yours with the tough armor. I have a tough armor for my V20 and last 2 iPhones and is my go to case for my V20. I am waiting to see what Ringke/Rearth comes out with. They make great cases also.
Oh and both cases work well with Spigen's neo flex sp. I don't know how either is with tempered glass. I think the neo flex is going to be my sp for his phone unless it scratches horribly down the road.

Yeah the kickstand placement and spring I saw in a video really sold me on the rugged cover. I love that you can use it in both orientations too.
Good call on the Amazon thing, I wasn't aware that the OEM cases eventually make their way there. I did see what I assume to be Chinese knockoffs of the rugged cover start to pop up on eBay, I'm not sure how else sellers could offer them for 10 bucks + free shipping if they are OEM.

I have seen Samsung's rugged cover listed already but not available. That was a week ago. They were still $40. Give it a month or two to come down. Buy one of the Spigen or Rearth cases for $15-$25 to hold you over. I don't think the rugged cover is spring loaded. It pooped of the other day and I snapped back in. I think it is tension loaded with plastic somehow which makes me wonder if it will weaker sooner than later. Should still work fine if it does. I hope Spigen heeds my email and can make a case as comfortable as Sammy's but use the buttons like on volume and power but recessed or flat for bixby. Best of both worlds. I might buy one or two more cases. I like to have 2 or 3 for each phone and have one for work and something that looks new when I go out because my cases for work show a lot of wear after a while.
BTW, I can vouch for the Samsung rugged cover. 1st day it slid off a 4 feet counter and landed flat on the face. I almost had to change boxers. Luckily I had slapped the neo flex on dry for a little protection. If it was tempered I am sure it would've cracked. It will be awhile before I drop it again. ???

Oh man, I know that pain. Not 5 minutes ago I did the slip-out-of-my-hand-mid-air-juggle for the first time. I managed to catch it but it still made me almost crap my pants.

The problem with the Spigen Tough Armor is, the idiots, (like Samsung last year on their rugged case) put the kickstand on the phone so when you use it, the volume buttons cannot be accessed. At least Samsung learned this year and put it in the middle of the case. What an obvious oversight. Nothing like having to pick the phone up and flip it over to lower or raise the volume.
Using the Samsung tough cover for 5 days. Great protection, design and functionality. You cannot go wrong with it.

Spigen cases are nice but I think the Samsung rugged is just that tiny bit better made. I have the Slim Armor, Neo Hybrid and the Samsung. The official one is definitely my favorite. Don't think you can go wrong with a Spigen though if you want to save a couple of bucks.

After spending shed loads on various note 8 cases. I pulled the trigger and ordered the official Samsung note 9 rugged case today. Hopefully it will be my only go to case plus a folio type . For me the most important part of a case a is comfort , no good if a case is slippery or has harsh edges.

Almost fell for that. They had a 13$ official Samsung rugged case there, yeah right!
Hopefully the $35 one I got from eBay ain't a fake.

OEM Samsung cases show up on Amazon after awhile. Use the numbers like this from Sammy's website... EF-RN960CBEGUS (black rugged cover)
Check the seller's reputation and the price. When the pop up on Amazon the price will usually be about 50-65% of retail until demand falls or the next big thing comes along.

Yes that's on I bought. The price is ok, I figured I'd spent like over $100 in various cheap and not so cheap cases for my note 8 so spending a little more and probably preventing me from buying more will be good.

I purchased this case originally on Amazon and have it in hand, but my phone is delayed another month. So I grabbed this one for $5 cheaper and the seller offers free returns so theres no reason not to give it a try. I will compare the case from eBay with the case from Amazon and I'll be able to tell if its fake or not. If not, I'll send Amazon back theirs and save $5.
Actually I'll save $7.40, forgot about tax.
I ended up getting one of the official OEM Rugged cases from Best Buy earlier today and I would definitely say that this is the one. I went through a couple of the clear spigen cases and a legion caseology case before this one.
The price of admission is definitely worth it imo. Case feels solid and the kickstand is the best I've had so far. I would say if you're on the fence like I was, go for it.

I'm with Rev_Nev. I got mine today, and normal months long search for a case has ended. When I gave my Note 8 to my wife I had 9 cases for it. I have 2 now and the Spigen is going in the drawer. This is an exceptional case, without making the phone look bulky. I was worried about the grooves on the back as I don't like textures but they are more subtle than the photos and the case is outstanding.
another nod for samsung
i bought the samsung military grade case and i like it. i have the military grade case on the note 8 so i expect this one to be just as stylish and reliable.
i recommend the samsung military grade case. its not gaudy or over the top looking like some 3rd party cases--its clean, understated, and i like that.
