Dear xda users, is it possible to unlock Galaxy S7 SM-G930T without the unlock app? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hi, everyone.
I bought a galaxy s7 via ebay, which was initially clean, but after 3.5 months it was blocked by TM due to an outstanding balance. I tried to reason with T-mobile reps, but to no avail.
There is a guy on ebay (repairimei) who claims that he can unlock my Galaxy S7 without using the unlock app. He claims that he will change the imei and then unlock the phone bypassing the unlock app altogether. Is this even possible?
best,
San

Yep. Has been out for a while now. It's CPID calculated (Read) generated certs being written to the phones. And that's auto unlock for all Samsung after write .cert

Is anyone working on making this available to the public for free?

Only "free" way is the highway lol
If you want option of no charge use the built in Device Unlock apk if your device is eligible for Unlock in T-mobile database.

Does this work

Does this method work if the phone is from a plan that the person stopped paying on then sold?

with that metod can i root my s7 or change the rom like project L?

No. Its about unlocking the phone from TMB and repair of blacklist imei for this phone. If you want root check the rest of the threads here for your model.

Flashing custom ROM shouldn't hurt it. Root wouldn't either but just make a backup

Methods to SIM Unlock

METHOD 1: I purchased an unlock code that wroked first try....
COST $22
I would like to share my experience for those who do not want to get scammed.
IT WILL TAKE 24 hrs AT LEAST with these guys so don't set your pants on fire waiting !!! I have used this site for all my phones.
Send an email [email protected]. Send IMEI and carrier details, country of carrier.
Then use code to unlock. If you need help entering code please post back.
METHOD 2: I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS. BUT There is another method to unlock the phone using a USB hack. This has worked for most people who tried it. It involves running software on your computer to replace the unlock code location via USB with zeros. This method is covered here in more details:

User experience is also available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25480419#post25480419
The ebay method seems to work for now. it can run from $15 -$17.

Nope. Unlocked is when you can use it on a carrier other than At&t. With the skyrocket you have to buy an unlock code. Bloatware is removed in custom roms.

Welcome !
They are different things. Unlocking is SIM card unlocking that then allows you to use your phone on any GSM network.
Removing bloatware requires "rooting". You get access to system files etc. allowing you to modify the software on there.
This a good starting point for Skyrocket to modify software:

[Q] Flashing a factory image after IMEI repair... will it restore the original imei?

Hey guys ...
I really need some help here...
so... I changed the IMEI on my nexus 5, that required an unlocked bootloader and a root... now I want to relock the bootloader and flash the stock image...
my question is:
Will the imei in my phone is going to be restored to the original phone imei? or can I still have the new imei after relocking and flashing the stock image
thank you
How and why did you change your imei?
Sent from my Nexus 5
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttt?? How did you change the IMEI??
BTW, flashing factory images won't have any effect on IMEI..

How much did they charge you for it??
The Nexus 5 is carrier unlocked and it should work all over the world(except 4g LTE ). Not sure why yours didn't!

the mobile carriers in turkey let you use your phone for 2 weeks ... if you bought your phone from outside of turkey... to make you buy a phone from them instead of buying it from other countries
and it costs me 35$
so... back to my question (vin4yak) are you sure about that? cuz I don't want to pay 35$ again
Ok well changing IMEI is illegal in most countries so it cannot be discussed here.

Technically it shouldn't... The factory images don't touch the /efs partition which contains the IMEI... But since it's been changed illegally, there's no way to know "how" it was actually changed.

I don't think they changed anything, just maybe allowed that IMEI within the networks.
Changing IMEI is illegal in many countries therefore cannot be discussed on XDA
So please do not speculate on or discuss the process

It'll be a $50 fee and its done via MobileTechVideos. There is no XDA exploit to unlock the bootloader on 4.3+.

JTAG stands for joint test action group, which is essentially a common IEEE serial port located on the motherboard of many devices. In a phones case, a Riff box is used to access the port and flash device specific files to the motherboard directly, thus eliminating the need for the phone to be on or functioning in the first place.
In this case, the jtag port is used to write to the emmc chip directly to override the system check and flash earlier firmware.
You can on the S4 but you need MDK firmware, you're better off asking in the S4 forum.

Ill look into the s4 forum. So is there anything I could do to run LiquidSmooth ROM on my S3? Also, would it be possible that Verizon unlock it if I ask?

Only way is by paying $50. Verizon will do no such thing. Verizon only releases sim unlocked phones, Verizon has never provided a bootloader unlock service.

APNs are used to identify what network a phone is on or used on. It's carrier unlocked out of the box/from the factory.

TMobile. You'll need the apn settings from the carrier your on
However you should only have to add the sim and it should recognize it automatically

t-mobile's 8T+, root, and (future) roms

I see there are already rooting/unlocking bootloader instructions for the regular 8T. is there any reason I should hesitate before buying the 8T+?
my main concern is (future) 8T roms may not work on 8T+. but in general, seems like most OnePlus phones eventually get official LineageOS. so should I not worry about it?
obviously it'll be some time before roms are available regardless - that's fine. I'm more thinking about 2 years down the road.

I certainly didn't. I immediately started Google searching OnePlus 8T+, but couldn't find anything. LOL
Granted, this will be my first OnePlus phone, so maybe I'm just still new to the loop.

It's definitely 8t+. it's distinct from the 12GB/256GB model that you can get unlocked.

Thats for sim unlock. There's no time requirement listed for the bootloader. Only need the sim unlocked prior. So if tforce is willing to whitelist the imei (which it sounds like they usually do if your nice about it) then it should be possible. It can take 2 days to get the unlock file but thats better than 2 years to pay off the device.
