Methods to SIM Unlock - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

METHOD 1: I purchased an unlock code that wroked first try....
COST $22
I would like to share my experience for those who do not want to get scammed.
IT WILL TAKE 24 hrs AT LEAST with these guys so don't set your pants on fire waiting !!! I have used this site for all my phones.
Send an email [email protected]. Send IMEI and carrier details, country of carrier.
Then use code to unlock. If you need help entering code please post back.
METHOD 2: I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS. BUT There is another method to unlock the phone using a USB hack. This has worked for most people who tried it. It involves running software on your computer to replace the unlock code location via USB with zeros. This method is covered here in more details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617999
User experience is also available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25480419#post25480419
The ebay method seems to work for now. it can run from $15 -$17.

Nope. Unlocked is when you can use it on a carrier other than At&t. With the skyrocket you have to buy an unlock code. Bloatware is removed in custom roms.

Welcome !
They are different things. Unlocking is SIM card unlocking that then allows you to use your phone on any GSM network.
Removing bloatware requires "rooting". You get access to system files etc. allowing you to modify the software on there.
This a good starting point for Skyrocket to modify software:

If you're using the ASOP lock screen you swipe the padlock towards the Right. If you're using a TW lock screen just swipe anywhere on the screen

Please be more specific as to what unlock you are talking about. If you are just unlocking the Android system then a swipe left or right should do it.
If you are referring to hardware unlock then we need more information. Are you on ATT going to T-Mobile? Then you would need the unlock codes if I remember right.
ATT doesn't unlock skyrockets, they tell everyone I know with skyrockets, that its an exclusive phone so they don't have codes... I had to pay to get my unlock code http://www.cellunlocker.net/ is the place most people get theres unlocked, mine cost $28 to unlock

im guessing your talking about a network unlock, i easily got my phone unlocked from purchasing an unlock code off of ebay, it cost me like $7 and i got the code in 10minutes!
once you get the code all you need to do is insert and invalid sim card boot up your phone, once your phone rejects the sim it will ask for an unlock code, enter your unlock code and boom your unlocked!
For the ebay method, does that code have to be re entered whenever I flash my phone to a new rom? Or is it a permanent hardware unlock?

you cant unlock sim by rooting
you can unlock sim by buying code on ebay for $0.99 though, if your phone has at&t logo on it.

Rooting and Sim unlock are unrelated to each other. You need to purchase a sim unlock code (or go through AT&T) to unlock the GSM carrier.
That sucks...for a HTC inspire phone, i was able to unlock and root at the same go using the software from xda

You mean root and unlock.... the bootloader?
Totally different "unlocking" of the phone.
As souljaboy & moofree said, the subsidy (carrier, SIM, whatever) unlock is only through the carrier (like AT&T) or buying a code online..
Sent from my phone's mind
As alteredlikeness told you there are different kind of unlocks
1) Sim Unlock: so that you can use any sim card, you can get the code from the network provider that you bought the mobile from, alternatively you can get the code at ebay or any other local sim unlock experts, I assume you are from India, like here in Hyderabad there are few in Jagdish Market, only few of them are legit like Metro Mobiles.
Then there is the dreaded 2) Bootloader and it's unlocking: With which we can flash (install) custom kernels and thus CyanogenMods, MIUIs, AOKPs and all..
and I humbly let you know that, if you are talking about Sim unlock procedures, this is not the place to come, XDA is all about mods, ROMs, Bricks(!) and everything in between.
and if you are talking about Bootloader unlock, unfortunately the hard working devs here have not found a way yet to unlock it, really hope that they will eventually prevail.
and either way, just merely rooting doesn't unlock anything, either network lock or bootloader, rooting is a process where you get superuser access.. which is kind of Admin access to your Windows OS, which is required to install few apps and also to dig down into the android OS.
Thanks for listening! have a great day.

Best pay method to unlock xt1080 (ULTRA)

I just wanted to know if anybody knew exactly where I can pay to get an unlock code for my Motorola Droid Ultra (XT1080). I already read the methods, but that taobao thing or whatever, I tried searching all over the internet and I just can't seem to find anything. Could someone please help because I have the money to do it and i would like to do it now.

Go to Motorola's site and order a Developer Edition phone (Maxx or X).
Right now that is the only way to get an unlock, in any form.
Sorry, I know that is not the answer you were looking for...

Okay. Well, someone (I forget who), told me that jcase would have a new exploit released in the summer... I mean... SOMEONE out there has to figure it out sooner or later.
Don't get too excited. Jcase method is not persistent and doesn't set WP off. Simply a temp root, not an unlock.

What do you mean the code spl? The codes seemed to just stop being shipped out and lots of people ended up not getting them in time, but there was never really a clear story of what happened to the guy who had been selling them that explained why he stopped. If you know any more about it, please share!

jcase himself has come out saying that the exploit his method used would be pretty inaccessible for the layman anyhow--like there's no way to automate it and make it more dummy-proof, so I doubt we'll ever even get root at all, WP or no. Seeing how many people manage to screw up even the simpler root methods already... yeah, I don't see it happening.
The phone can STILL be unlocked by the Chinese Moto guy for $45 but it has to have been built in 2014. He no longer has the 2013 build codes.

On another thread, there was some discussion about the dates for which the unlock codes are available. Turns out 1/10/2014 is also not good enough.
So, all phones assembled in 2014 do not qualify then, it seems.

The way the sentence above is constructed, it project that ALL phones built in 2014 do not qualify for an unlock code. That's not correct.
The proper way to state that not all 2014 phones have codes would be: most, but not all, phones assembled in 2014 might be unlocked by purchasing the unlock code.

JTAG stands for joint test action group, which is essentially a common IEEE serial port located on the motherboard of many devices. In a phones case, a Riff box is used to access the port and flash device specific files to the motherboard directly, thus eliminating the need for the phone to be on or functioning in the first place.
In this case, the jtag port is used to write to the emmc chip directly to override the system check and flash earlier firmware.
You can on the S4 but you need MDK firmware, you're better off asking in the S4 forum.

Only way is by paying $50. Verizon will do no such thing. Verizon only releases sim unlocked phones, Verizon has never provided a bootloader unlock service.

Dear xda users, is it possible to unlock Galaxy S7 SM-G930T without the unlock app?

Hi, everyone.
I bought a galaxy s7 via ebay, which was initially clean, but after 3.5 months it was blocked by TM due to an outstanding balance. I tried to reason with T-mobile reps, but to no avail.
There is a guy on ebay (repairimei) who claims that he can unlock my Galaxy S7 without using the unlock app. He claims that he will change the imei and then unlock the phone bypassing the unlock app altogether. Is this even possible?
best,
San
Yep. Has been out for a while now. It's CPID calculated (Read) generated certs being written to the phones. And that's auto unlock for all Samsung after write .cert

Only "free" way is the highway lol
If you want option of no charge use the built in Device Unlock apk if your device is eligible for Unlock in T-mobile database.
