Best pay method to unlock xt1080 (ULTRA) - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just wanted to know if anybody knew exactly where I can pay to get an unlock code for my Motorola Droid Ultra (XT1080). I already read the methods, but that taobao thing or whatever, I tried searching all over the internet and I just can't seem to find anything. Could someone please help because I have the money to do it and i would like to do it now.
-Regards

Go to Motorola's site and order a Developer Edition phone (Maxx or X).
Right now that is the only way to get an unlock, in any form.
Sorry, I know that is not the answer you were looking for...

Okay. Well, someone (I forget who), told me that jcase would have a new exploit released in the summer... I mean... SOMEONE out there has to figure it out sooner or later.

Don't get too excited. Jcase method is not persistent and doesn't set WP off. Simply a temp root, not an unlock.

There is no need for an unlock code... All of Vzw's newer 4G LTE phones are factory unlocked, due to a requirement by the FCC

What do you mean the code spl? The codes seemed to just stop being shipped out and lots of people ended up not getting them in time, but there was never really a clear story of what happened to the guy who had been selling them that explained why he stopped. If you know any more about it, please share!

jcase himself has come out saying that the exploit his method used would be pretty inaccessible for the layman anyhow--like there's no way to automate it and make it more dummy-proof, so I doubt we'll ever even get root at all, WP or no. Seeing how many people manage to screw up even the simpler root methods already... yeah, I don't see it happening.

The phone can STILL be unlocked by the Chinese Moto guy for $45 but it has to have been built in 2014. He no longer has the 2013 build codes.

On another thread, there was some discussion about the dates for which the unlock codes are available. Turns out 1/10/2014 is also not good enough.
So, all phones assembled in 2014 do not qualify then, it seems.

The way the sentence above is constructed, it project that ALL phones built in 2014 do not qualify for an unlock code. That's not correct.
The proper way to state that not all 2014 phones have codes would be: most, but not all, phones assembled in 2014 might be unlocked by purchasing the unlock code.

Methods to SIM Unlock

COST $22
I would like to share my experience for those who do not want to get scammed.
IT WILL TAKE 24 hrs AT LEAST with these guys so don't set your pants on fire waiting !!! I have used this site for all my phones.
Send an email [email protected]. Send IMEI and carrier details, country of carrier.
Then use code to unlock. If you need help entering code please post back.
METHOD 2: I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS. BUT There is another method to unlock the phone using a USB hack. This has worked for most people who tried it. It involves running software on your computer to replace the unlock code location via USB with zeros. This method is covered here in more details:

The ebay method seems to work for now. it can run from $15 -$17.

Nope. Unlocked is when you can use it on a carrier other than At&t. With the skyrocket you have to buy an unlock code. Bloatware is removed in custom roms.

Welcome !
They are different things. Unlocking is SIM card unlocking that then allows you to use your phone on any GSM network.
Removing bloatware requires "rooting". You get access to system files etc. allowing you to modify the software on there.
This a good starting point for Skyrocket to modify software:

Need some help guys, been a while since I've done this.

Bit of background...I've had Android phones since the OG Droid. All of them were rooted. The phone I have now is the Razr HD which I've never rooted. Guess I just got out of the game for a while. I want to root it now but unfortunately, it's been so long since I've been around the forums that I don't really know what anything is anymore or what does what.
I'm sure this has been asked before but every search I do, I come up with stuff that I don't understand. Can someone help out?
Phone is running 4.4.2
System version: 183.46.15.XT926
Thanks!

Abstract: you wanna root your Motorola Razr HD (xt925) ?
You can't go anymore with the "gentle procedure" - which is using Motochopper, a way to root the 4.1.2 without tearing apart your phone.
So either you go back with a stock 4.1.2 and live happily with motochopper and a slow sys, or you follow Motorola instructions to unlock the phone. Be aware that once you enter the code Motorola will provide you'll void your warranty (if you still are under the grace period).

I am completely psyched for this!! I passed on a galaxy s6 just so I could still use my microsd card from my htc one remix, and I passed on a g4 for the fingerprint scanner so this is awesome news for this device, I would love to use cyanogenmod on here and its a definite positive knowing that once this is released, I can use marshmallow before its official ota release too! Plus the chance of this phone becoming dead in the forums will be slim to nothing once this is released, this is absolutely amazing news in my opinion. I don't care if they charge to unlock the bootloader or not, I'll be one of the first too pay to get mine unlocked and then I can be one of the cool kids with roms again lol ?
---------- Post added at 07:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:10 PM ----------
And the Verizon would pay quote I think is bs, they're making money either way, they could care less.
I hope it works. I have the dev edition and development is getting stale. This would open up a lot more development, assuming the devs haven't already abandoned this phone.
Only a few more months with the phone, why not go out in style! Hope this is true.
And they're probably going to sit on this and never do anything with it, or worse, sell the exploit to Samsung/Verizon. :/
Does this mean those of us who have unrooted, stock OG5 builds might also get root? Normally root comes first, then maybe unlocking the boot loader, correct? I am noob, but was hoping an unlocked boot loader might make a root exploit easier as well. Am I crazy?
Root, with the unlocked bootloader, would mean I could finally get out of my stock Verizon rom (when I'm on a t mobile mvno).

It depends on what the unlock method requires. If it needs root then it won't work. If it doesn't need root then it's likely that OG5 will be able to unlock.

Once bootloader is unlocked, the possibility is unlimited, any custom roms can be flash and root is just a piece of cake. If the bootloader is unlocked, we can flash a custom kernel where it allowed to root....at will. ...
And i just saw this comment and it made me sad.

If OEMs or Carriers bought exploits, I would be rich and no longer be posting on XDA. They don't.
According to what he's actually doing on the computer via ADB, he's using root commands which means it may require root. This is only speculation though because he does flash a bootloader file via Odin too and obviously you don't need root for Odin.
So essentially it could just be as easy as flashing a bootloader file via Odin.

[WIP][DEVS] CyanogenMod for LG G5

Hi all,
I started working on the LG G5 a way back .. and now that we've got the device in stores I guess it's time to work all together to bring it up !
STATUS
- [02/04/2016] All the US Carriers/Sellers locked the bootloaders so NO TWRP possible and consequently NO CM possible
CURRENT GOALS
- Thought, all the Europe variants will be for sure unlocked so we need to prepare the sources for it
- Here is where all the sources are pushed https://github.com/G5Devs
ETA :
- The tree is made
- The vendor is made
- The kernel is made
TODO :
- Clarifying kernel sources
- Add the ramdisk to the device
- Split the g5 to g5-common and all the under variants
This thread is not a thread to release builds, it's about contributing all together into this bringup in order to get the nicest thing out of it when the bootloaders will become unlockable.
I hope we'll can work all together !

only for that specific device(s) on HTC
HTC has a portal that allows you to unlock bootloader for that specific device (hence the need to copy+paste token to HTC's portal and get the unlock key)
no doubt HTC will void warranty immediately in their system when you input token
LG doesn't have this (yet? i hope)
Yeah, was just a thought. Haven't owned a LG in some time, been on the Samsung wagon. The G5 is on my watch list of devices I might get, I like the design. I'll try to see if I can find something that might be more constructive to the cause. The HTC link was the first thing I could think of that I've dealt with.
I see that LG has release a tool for the G4 and that's device specific and seems to work on the European devices.
Totally willing to contribute monetarily if this will help any developers out. I don't have much else but really want to help get this phone broken open and fixed up good!

t-mobile's 8T+, root, and (future) roms

I see there are already rooting/unlocking bootloader instructions for the regular 8T. is there any reason I should hesitate before buying the 8T+?
my main concern is (future) 8T roms may not work on 8T+. but in general, seems like most OnePlus phones eventually get official LineageOS. so should I not worry about it?
obviously it'll be some time before roms are available regardless - that's fine. I'm more thinking about 2 years down the road.

Thats for sim unlock. There's no time requirement listed for the bootloader. Only need the sim unlocked prior. So if tforce is willing to whitelist the imei (which it sounds like they usually do if your nice about it) then it should be possible. It can take 2 days to get the unlock file but thats better than 2 years to pay off the device.

So if tforce is willing to whitelist the imei (which it sounds like they usually do if your nice about it) then it should be possible. It can take 2 days to get the unlock file but thats better than 2 years to pay off the device.

I am a non-American, so I have no idea how the stuff works there, but can't you guys buy a normal unlocked device and use any sim that you want? Any benefits of getting a carrier locked device?

I got already a sim unlock and I tried already multiple times to request a Bootloader unlock code and gives me errors that I need to ender a valid code, so I chat with support and they told me there is a 45 days wait

Problem is that even when you do get your SIM unlocked you still have to wait 45 days from date of purchase to be able to request a Bootloader unlock code (according to OP)

Is their a model difference between the normal US version and T-Mobiles? Will it make any difference in bootloader unlock?

I literally had this phone 2 months, and had him unlock it using chat, and my special crafted message, during reading this thread! 2 minutes ...Would you like? (T-Mobile)
