Hi All,
I've had my Gear S3 for a couple of days now, and I'm really struggling with the battery life. I took it off a full charge this morning at 10:30am... it's about to go dead at 20:50. So I'm getting pretty much just over 10hrs out of a battery... no where near the 3-4 days advertised. I wouldn't mind, I've not even been really using it as I've been working.
After doing some research, this morning I turned the brightness right down, and disabled NFC - thinking that would help. It didn't.
Do you think it could be a defective device? Or am I doing something wrong?
Appreciate any help/advice.
Cheers,
Leigh

I had the same problem on a brand new S3 that I purchased from Verizon last week. Almost returned the watch. I did a couple things right in a row so I'm not sure which one actually helped but I will try in remember everything I did.
Remove Samsung Gear from your phone.. Re start and log back in.
Reset watch to factory... Then restart watch and let it connect to the watch and re sync everything.
Then shut off Bluetooth on the watch and power down.... Restart watch and then turn on Bluetooth.
There was one more thing that I did but I will have to research it on a different device I can't remember exactly what I did it had to do with the secret menu on the watch. I'm at work right now and will probably be able to find out the instructions sometime tomorrow during the day and will repost.
Long story short whatever I did totally fixed my watch period before I did all that I was getting about 7 hours and now afterwards, I'm getting two and a half days with Bluetooth always on screen always on and multiple watch faces.

I recently flashed CMRex with Kejar's 4.1.1 gapps and was going about setting up my device. I got everything set up how I like with all the apps I wanted downloaded and running how I wanted them. I then ran the v6 supercharger mod that I had used on my past two roms with no problem whatsoever. After finishing the set up of the script, I rebooted my device and all was well. I went to browse on craigslist's mobile app, then I saw something I wanted to google, so I opened my browser. My browser took an ungodly amount of time to load my homepage(google), and wouldn't respond hardly. I couldn't get the touchscreen to respond. My hardware buttons did respond and I got haptic feedback from them, but no response on the screen. Eventually, after numerously pressing the home button, I got a message saying the browser wasn't responding, selected ok to close it, then back to the non-responsiveness of the touch screen and hardware buttons. And then another eventually later, after another multitude of home button presses, I got to my homescreen but everything was laggy. The most lag I have ever encountered with my device since I obtained it, not to mention that my device was beginning to heat up. So, I decided I would power off the device, remove the battery, let it cool down, and then replace the battery before powering it back up. Well, lo and behold, I did just that, went to power back up my device, and there was no sign of life at all. Tried to get into the bootloader, no response. Tried a normal boot, no response. Tried to plug it into the charger to see if it would charge, no response. Well, my girlfriend told me to leave the battery out for a while and leave it alone for a while before trying it again. So, I played some MW3 for about 45 minutes to an hour, repeated all the above, and still no sign of life. Can anyone help me out? (I don't know if this is supposed to go into the Q&A or here, so I just post here.) I'm so distraught at the possibility of losing my phone, that I'm finding it hard to cope at the moment. Should be thinking of ways to gain some money in order to purchase a new device or is there still hope?
what a long message.do you have any point form here?
i hope you solve the problem .
Do you have access to a separate charger? You can try charging your battery there and see if that works. Did you try connecting it to the computer? Maybe that will show some sign of life. Also, how old is your phone and did you over clock?

I did not overclock, I do believe that my clock speeds were at the kernel default, either 100/1k, or 200/1k. Not sure which, but definitely one of those. The only other charger I would have access to would be my mother's HTC charger, but I will try that and connecting it to the computer as well. Well, I'm not exactly sure on the age of the phone because I purchased it off of craigslist, but it's in great condition. Only had a small scuff on the top left corner, but I know that has nothing to do with the age of the hardware. ): Could it possibly be that my battery decided to die for some reason? I've been having horribly battery life lately. Granted, I had horribly battery life when I got the phone, but it's gotten worse and worse since then.
My Nexus S wouldn't start but gave a flash on the screen when the battery was first inserted. Just got it back from repair and it was a motherboard problem. Was looking at a Huawei G300 as a cheap replacement if the repair wasn't covered by warranty (which it was). Good luck!
Thing about it is, I bought the phone off craigslist so I have no idea if its covered by the warranty still. Should I try calling samsung and find out?

Sorry for my late reply! You could try, but u guess you can get a battery from Ebay and check if that solved the problem. Or if you have a friend who has one...

I'm the only person I know that has this phone. And I guess the battery will have to wait till I get a job, but if im waiting that long, I'm just going to get a new phone all together.

Testing the battery can be done differently, do you have a multimeter? Maybe your neighbours have one, it's a common thing. You can measure whether it has any power left. If you measure low voltage (below let's say 3400 mV), then it could be battery related.

Many reports on dead Nexus S with 4.1.1. Mine included after flashing CM10. Sent for repair 10 days ago and still waiting...
If you've got no warranty, perhaps time to buy a new phone? Bought myself a new Galaxy Nexus.
I would like to get a new galaxy nexus, but I have no money to do so. I'm currently trying to get a job and i m going to save up for a new phone. Im either going to get an s3, a galaxy nexus. Either one of those two or the new nexus if it comes out.

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out here. 2 nights ago I opened up my sons Nexus 5 and changed the battery. I replaced it with a oem replacement that I found on Amazon. I put the phone back together and everything works fine, but he is suffering from random shutdowns. He says that he plays his phone throughout the day and every now and then when he pulls his phone out of his pocket it has powered off. He has to hold down the power button to restart the phone. Has anyone ever had this issue? Do I need to take the phone back apart? Help please!
Open the phone again to make sure everything inside is connected firm and correctly. Otherwise if you keep getting the issue after, you should probably send the battery back to the seller.
It is very difficult to find genuine batteries these days as this phone isn't manufactured anymore. Every battery being different in every phone these days. Planned obsolescence at it's best.

Yes, recheck the connections, but I strongly suspect defective battery, too. I don't know if this one is any better: https://lg.encompass.com/item/10389517/LG/EAC62078701/Rechargeable_Battery,lithium_Polymer. Probably more $ but not unreasonable. I believe I read shipping is about $8.

I was excited to remember this phone during looking at phones since I'm in the market for a new phone since my G4 died. But looking at a thread here it seemed a lot of people were having problems with soft reboots. Does this only affect rooted? or? is it for every verizon note edge? As nice as this phone is that might be a deal breaker for me. How long does a soft reboot take on the note edge? under 5 seconds? 10 seconds? longer? Just wondering in case I ever had an emergency how long I'd have to wait before I could call while it's doing it's soft reboot. And I hope it's not for every verizon note edge. But if it is how many times does it do it in a day for most? Meaning from about 8am-12midnight. Thanks guys.
Just do not use fingerprint lockscreen and no soft reboot at all.
How often occur? Good question, it depends on your habits. For me about 2 times per day. It last 5 sec, with laggy things 10-15 sec...
I am on 915FY btw not V.
On my 915FY it occured several times a day, and took sometimes more than a minute to get it working again. But fortunately I solved the problem with disabeling the stock-lockscreen and use hi locker instead. That app works with fingerprint and no reboots since then. All the other bugs (eg. loosing BT- or wifi-connection every now and then) seem to be related to exact the same lockscreen-bug and never appeared since that change.

Are there any other lock screen apps that work with the fingerprint scanner, i find hi locker temperamental.

I'm sure there are some, just browse through play store. What means "temperamental" in relation with an lockscreen-app?

I can't use Svoice while the screen is off, which is probably true of all lockscreen apps thinking about it.
I am using hi locker but still get the soft reboot in background....

Seems like it's every 20 mins... literally all the time.
Is this issue unique to the Note Edge, or does it happen with other Samsung phones?
What does soft reboot mean?
I'm wondering if this subject heading is the same as the problem I'm having on my notes edge... The phone goes off and tries to reboot even with 56% and at times with 70% battery left...
I'm desperately looking for a solution.

I had this problem. Every time the battery got down to about 60% the phone would cut off, try to reboot unsuccessfully a few times then die. Would not fully boot up until I put the phone on the charger. New battery solved it for me. Had this problem with another phone. Same thing. The battery was bad.

Thanks. I'm on this thread today because of an N915F crashing around the 40% battery full range. Unfortunately after it does that a few times it goes into boot loop that won't fix with cache wipes, and after a while it wouldn't fix with a reset either. It was still on KitKat, so I flashed 6.0.1 from September 2017 (Sammobile), but it crashed as well. Stepped back to July 2017 from Updato which updated to August 2017 through system update, and switched to a charger that will actually increase the charge on the phone while it's being used. Has been running fine while on the charger, but I also suspected a hardware issue since it would soft reboot on the recovery screen. Even though I have the battery at 100% now, I don't dare run it without the charger because I'm tired of going through setup and configuration over and over again. I ordered a battery last night. I hope that solves it for me too.
Use wakelock
select partial wake lock
and setting to start up on boot
its work on me never deepsleep in lock mode
I had same problem... Time for a new phone

I've had pretty great battery life on my Gear S3 Frontier until this week. Before I could go 3-3.5 days on a charge. This week I'm lucky to get 1-1.5 days out of the watch. Nothing has changed. Any ideas?
When looking in the app at the About Gear battery info so you see any high battery usage other than the watch faces? I usually disregard the watch faces on my watch because mine usually runs between 60 and 80% but I still get right at 3 days. Do you use Samsung Pay, because you can disable NFC if you don't.

Have you tried re-starting it?
I do use SPay and have always used it since I got the watch.
The only thing that uses the most battery is watch faces. I'm using a dark watch face too.
I charged the watch before I left work at 4:00PM EST today and by now (10:33PM EST) it is at 48%.

Have you synced it to a new device recently? The reason I ask is because I just got the S8+ and had to factory reset my Gear S3 twice. After doing so my WiFi and mobile data was turned on for some odd reason.
Another solution may be to do a factory reset just to see if something may be causing your issue.

I factory reset it yesterday. I haven't connected it to a new phone.
I may try to reset it again later today.
I used to get 4 days out of my S3 Frontier but recently it suddenly dropped to less than 2 days. There was no change in my use of the watch or no new apps/watch faces etc and all I made sure 'recent apps' were closed frequently. Anyway, I did a reset and I'm back up to 4 days again.
I'm trying another reset. I turned reactivation lock off this time.
I got the watch off the charger at 8:30AM EST this morning and as of now (3:45PM EST) I was at 47%. The only app I installed was a dark watch face.

You could calibrate the battery with *#0228# on dialer but "quick button" it isn't working for me. Can you test this and tell me?

I am having the same problem. There was an software update for me to go to Tizen 2.3.2 and has been down right horrible. I would lose about 8% battery a day now its near 45% a day. I look into battery drainage and S Health is at the top. I got everything turned off to what I could but it still counts my steps, calories burned etc. No Auto HR and that.
I took it to best buy to see if the samsung guy could reflash an older version of tizen but he couldn't. we did a factory reset so I got it on the charger now, i'll put it off at 100% and lay it down and see what happens.
I spent the extra money on this over the android wear cause S3 had the better battery life. If this keeps up, ima just return it and try to get the new LG2 watch.

You can still get to that menu on non-lte version just use the dialer on the watch, the "quick button" didn't work for me neither.
It took 2 resets on Saturday evening, but yesterday my battery life was back to normal. I took the Gear S3 off the charger at 8:00AM yesterday and as of now almost 24 hours later it is at 81%.
Thanks for the help.
For anyone following, I did a factory reset yesterday and that seemed to fix the issue. Took it off the charger around 9am and its at 95%. waaaaay better. Guess i can switch back to the other watch face lol.
So try factory reset first. sucks but seemed to work as of now.

My Frontier is 3 months out of warranty and nobody in Australia seems to be able to help me. So, The screen started going yellow one day and then lines started to appear over the watch faces and then by the end of the day the watch went into an endless bootloop. There was no way to stop it until the battery ran out. I tried charging it, but after a few seconds the charger started to blink red. I sent it to Samsung and they said there were no signs of water damage or physical damage to the watch, but since it was an "overseas model" they were no allowed to repair it. I contacted **** Smith and Kogan and they said they also could not fix the problem. I tried charging it coulple of weeks later to try to get pics of what it was doing and it charged up with no problems. I updated to Tizen 4 and then wore the watch all day with no issues. Everything worked! Then the next morning the yellow lines started showing up. I'm just trying to find out if you think I'd need a new battery or motherboard? I love my Frontier, but I really don't want to have to buy another one. I turn to the people of XDA for help.
Oh. Ok, cool. Thanks.
