Hi All,
I have been a user of Android phones since the first Samsung Galaxy S phone was released. I loved that phone and still have it in prestine condition at home. I then moved up to the Galaxy S2 which i am still using to this day, as i have not needed to upgrade to the S3 yet, since the S2 has such great support on these forums.
Moving forward to the present date, i have developed a keen interest in learning how to program Android apps. However, I do not know where to start. So far I have downloaded and researched the following :
ANDROID SDK KIT AND SITE
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#download
ANDROID EMULATOR - Jar of Beans
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975675
APK file editor
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189971
Very useful starters guide to ADB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872128
But am now stuck on the learning side of things.
So my question to you guys is, can someone point me in the right direction, with a couple of links and resources that they have used and found really useful. There is plenty of links after doing a google search, but I am looking for peoples tried/tested/succeeded links and resources, so that I have the very best material at my disposal for some upcoming ideas that I have for apps for the Android OS.
Any help in this area is greatly appreciated.
Hey Guys,
I have decided to make my first game free, and post it here on XDA!
I currently live in South-Africa. This is the first game I have ever developed for Android, it was supposed to be a paid app, but Google Play doesn't support merchants from my country.
I have tested it on multiple devices (list below) and haven't found any major bugs, if you do happen to find one, bear with me.
You can contact me @ [email protected] or you could PM me.
Currently, the only major bugs include:
Incorrect scaling on some devices
Can't exit sometimes, requires you to press exit twice or force close app
Time in upper right corner is not yet localized.
That's it, not allot and I am working on them, though I am currently in school. In holidays I will be faster.
Devices on which it has been tested:
Samsung Galaxy S II
Samsung Galaxy S III
Samsung Galaxy S IV
Samsung Galaxy Note
Samsung Galaxy Note II
Samsung Galaxy Note III
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Samsung Galaxy Ace
Samsung Galaxy Tab II 10.1
Asus Google Nexus 7 (not-2013)
This list will continue to grow as I get my hand on new devices. If you have tested it and can't find any bugs on a device other than mentioned above, please let me know and I will add it to the list (including your username)
Link: Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.HSDevelopment.Snakes
! --- Please note, Google Play version is outdated because I lost my Keystore file while switching PCs, use XDA download preferably --- !
APK Below if you don't use Google Play
Donate button coming soon, please tell me if you'd be willing to donate and help a brother out.
Also, don't be afraid so speak your mind in the comments. I could really use some suggestions.
Yours Sincerely,

Updates are coming, I am working on fixing some of the bugs.
Do you have any specific updates you would like too see?
In my usual daily search for possible root, I generally don't find anything of interest. Today however, is a different story.
This will be short and simple: Don't get scammed. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't. An "article" is circulating the web this morning, in a couple places, claiming the new Android Oreo 8.0 is available for the Amazon HD 8.
"Good news to everyone! Amazon Fire Hd 8 owners can now update their device to 8.0 Oreo by using custom ROM." He even makes it super easy because you "Don't bother to Google or search for it" (because believe everything you read on the internet. It's true. [NOTE EXTREME SARCASM]). Why? They conveniently "uploaded it for you."
Don't fall for scams. As of the posting of this thread, to my knowledge and the knowledge of developers on this site, there is NO "Android Oreo custom ROM" available for the HD 8 and is NOT available for ANY Amazon tablet regardless if it's rooted. In fact, there is NO custom ROM available AT ALL for the HD 8. You CAN however, flash a custom ROM if you have a Fire HD 7, assuming it can be rooted and is earlier than FireOS 5.3.2.1.
The current FireOS, 5.4.4.0 CANNOT be rooted, the bootloader IS LOCKED therefore NO custom ROM is available for ANY Amazon tablet, regardless of it's size. Sorry for being so 'bold' *snicker*, but I hate seeing posts and threads about people bricking their devices beyond repair because they believed someone on a blog. When in doubt, take some time to look over XDA and find the proper forum section pertaining to your device for assistance. If all else fails, contact your service provider or device manufacturer.
You can check your tablet for updates by tapping settings > device options > system updates > check for updates. It will also tell you the latest FireOS version. You can download an app like 'Droid Hardware Info' to see what Android base you have.. Install > open > device > OS version. The newest tablets are Android Lollipop 5.1.1.
So there's no possible way the fire os 5.5 will have a root or a custom ROM?
Hi Guys,
I have created this thread as I could not find any to discuss and share news about this new interesting feature (mentioned in the title) shown by Samsung at CES 2020.
In this demo video it can be seen from 0:33 that is being used on our beloved Tab S6. I can't wait to try it on any of my devices, but I think it could be the most useful on our tablets (or phones connected to DeX) if it works out well. I think they could add a virtual trackpad to it and using any stand you already have a quite good setup for everyday usage and also doing some business/educational stuff on the go (and at home of course)
Any opinions are welcomed and also any new information (release date/beta download) is appreciated!
Samsung - 65" Class - 7 Series - 4K UHD TV - Smart - LED - with HDR Model # UN65TU7000FXZA
Just curious if there is anyone who knows if there's anything that can be done to this smart tv such as root, jailbreak, etc.???
I apologize if this is in the wrong thread or if it's not okay to ask about TVs on XDA!!! I love XDA & respect the rules so I did look...I just didn't see anything banning this type of question!
Thanks!

Lol XDA is a place meant to share root methods. And TVs are welcome!
Quick reminder:
Jailbreak=iPhone=Finding Exploit to elevate privilege and modify device=Apple do not condone
Root=Android=Using provided tool to fully control your device=Google 100% condone (and even adapt their google play security certifications for ROM users)
Your smart TV is unfortunately on Tizen, this is another OS than Android, that is used for samsung smartwatch and is only used by samsung (since they're the creator).

Spoiler: Quick History
Back in the days Samsung launched a smartphone to concurrence Android, the phone was the Samsung Wave, and it was running Bada OS (and I had one).
Big flop, it had no apps on the appstore. The phone, even though it was good, was just isolated on its little island, forever. The last wave was the Wave 3, nothing after...
Bada OS didn't disappeared, this os took another name: Tizen. It is now used your other samsung things, they had time to develop it better, but I don't think it'll resurface in the smartphone market ever again...
Now that you know the story, you'll know better how to search. Here's the link of the XDA section for Tizen.
Have a good day

So does that mean there are no hacks or roots for Samsung TVs in general?

I personally admit that i know little about the subject..but i read that most smart tvs (dont know if Samsung is one of them) detect your location and pick the app store market based on the first time you connect to the internet after software reset... your ipaddress is ofcourse can reveal your country so if you want another store market than your country, lets say u want US app store you have to let it connect to an access point such as a router that has built in vpn and get it ready and enabled to US ipaddress , when you reset the tv and it connects to that access point it will think its in the US.. there is probably also software on computers that can make a vpn activated hotspot ...
I honestly don’t know if this method is still valid or not... I would like someone to confirm...

Have a look at SamyGo forum. They rooted and modded many Samsung TV firmwares beginning with the A series... Now they are testing root for the N/QN and they are investgating vulnerabilities on the R/QR. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

And what is the use of rooting or modifying the firmware?
Would it also be possible to root or modify the firmware of my Samsung TV (QN55Q60AAKXZL)? And if possible, could you explain the process to me please?
Thanks.
