Some even say, it's not that those units are faulty, it's like that on all Galaxy SII phones. Well, we rolled out our sleeves and went to check ours and report back.
And indeed, upon a really, really close inspection, we noticed that the part of the display in question is slightly darker than the rest of the screen and has a slight yellow tint to it.
To make the effect more prominent in the photo on the left we have flipped the lower half of the screen so the darker and lighter parts are closer by. It's really the best we can do to demonstrate an effect that is pretty hard to see otherwise.
Now uneven backlighting is something that we are used to seeing on LCD screens, but we can’t quite explain how it appeared on the Galaxy S II. Granted the effect is pretty subtle and we didn’t notice it until told what to look for, but it’s there and it seems probable that all early units of the smartphone have it.
Last time we saw a similar problem it was with the iPhone 4 and it turned out to be a temporary effect caused by the glue used in assembly that disappeared by itself with time. We guess, it won't be the case here as quite a lot of time passed since those phones came out of the factory.
We’d be glad if Samsung stepped up and cleared this out for everyone and we are sure their customers agree with us.
Anyway we wouldn’t call the display issue a deal-breaker and we don’t even think most people will notice it, but still – knowing that there’s a problem with that gorgeous screen of your smartphone can leave somewhat of a bad taste in your mouth.
You can check out if your handset has the display issue by looking at a neutral gray background (you can open this page, helpfully prepared by Erethnor of XDA-developers, in the browser). You might want to choose darker environment and reduce the brightness of the display to make it easier to see.

We have many threads in Q&A etc complaining about this, guess they are correct.

Ah that's annoying. On my SGS (first version) I also have some problems with low luminosity settings: I can see some yellowish remains of icons in the background, and sometimes some bands. Can't really tell what is it though

Gives the sensation a serious boost especially cuz of this and the confirmed unlocked bootloaders ( plus HTC Sense of course ).
The much hyped AMOLED looks great, but maybe it's not that great. S-LCD is the way for me then
Besides, I even read posts around saying that the camera has a purple/pink tinge

So, you say that "you can see some stuff better at an angle", doesn't that literally mean "improved viewing angles", which essential IS seeing things better at an angle? :laugh:
Yes I think dimming the screen is not such a great solution, but better than nothing. Technically, it does improve viewing angles to an extent.

The brightness level can be adjusted in the application, so that does not become so dark, you have tested?
For those who have the locked bootloader is a breakthrough yes! I invite people to test.

Not really a breakthough, I used this app about a year ago. Its nothing amazing...It just dims the screen, ideal if you use your phone as alarm clock in a dock and you cant dim the screen enough with the native brightness control. But that's it
And unsure why you think this is a breakthough for locked bootloaders. The app is compatible with android 1.6+ and has never needed an unlocked bootloader to work

What im trying to say is
Dimmed Angle is better when Dimmed
But Bright Angle is better than Dimmed Angle

The intent was to help people who do not want to unlock the bootloader. It is quite obvious that the app works for both Locked or unlocked bootloaders, needless to say. Let the people test.
Not everyone knows the application or have tried something like that, and not everyone here is a developers or advanced users.
I tested the app, liked and saw some improvement in the display.
Let's be more friendly here and less kicking in the colleagues ass ok?

Agreed....
It allows you to lower the brightness more than normal, WOW what a breakthrough.....
The viewing angles issue is a hardware one, sorry but lowering the brightness is not solving anything. The issue is using crappy tft technology. That being said it is still miles ahead of the original xperia z, the display on that was so bad I got rid of it after about a week.

I see no 'jelly screen'. Then again, I'm an old guy and I rely pretty firmly upon my progressive lenses.

Scrolling smoothness is really nice on the 5. If you want a really smooth experience, change your CPU governors to OnDemand from interactive. The difference is very noticeable.

can we do that on the stock kernel?

Yep. I use the ex kernel manager and on stock rom with stock kernel. I have like 5 or so options for governor.

One thing I've noticed with these last few builds.. if you have an app in app locker, there's frame drops and stutters if you scroll through in your recents..

I've found same event. Then i chose to adjust animation scale to 0.5 or 0. Which makes it much better.

No changes to animation speed, no changes to kernel or governor and have seen no jelly effect, this only affects a very small number of devices, I've had two Oneplus devices, bought one on launch at midnight then lost it four days later, ordered another and got it three days later, no jelly effect whatsoever.
The speed of this phone is insane.
Apps can lag that correct but only because of the app or the content, so for example a half loaded chrome page can lag, that has nothing to do with the phone at all my PC which is worth over £4000 can lag on webpages if they haven't loaded properly, it's not the hardware.

The jelly effect is there in all phones...just some people dont notice it

Makes no difference, the jelly effect is not present on every device, assuming that everyone has a problem seeing it because you can on your device does not mean that they have defective devices!
I've had two 1+5 devices and neither exhibited this issue, I tested it thoroughly, nothing is present, i recorded it and played it back in slow motion, comparable to any previous device i've ever had it's literally the same.
I did a video next to my HTC, there is no jelly.

If yours is not defected you should try looking for the effect with your phone upside down if you see the jelly effect upside down its not defective but if you don't it is

hahah mate you're missing the point, why would i hold my phone upside down? I appreciate once you've seen your phone has a defect it's impossible to ignore, i personally would make something up and send the bugger back until i got a phone that i couldn't notice it on, it would drive me mental, i don't care if they don't think it's an issue, it's bad if this many people have seen it.
All i'm saying is, I don't have this issue, check my video if you want or provide me with a fool proof test and i'll do it now, if it's me overlooking it then it's something so insignificant that i dont' actually mind, but maybe i would if i saw it.
Sorry i sound like i'm being a **** i'm not mate, but it's not present on either phone i've had, i'm sorry that yours is, funny thing is too a mate of mine just got one and he can't see it either, he mentioned that he did one time when scrolling on the web, but couldn't replicate it? Not sure if it's lag or something?

I haven't notice any of the "jelly effects" ..ok I havent recorded my screen and play the exported video in -x16 speed to check it either..

Welp, not exactly.
Why? Because its not a hardware flaw, its a "design choice". The Display (of every current OP5 out there right now) is mounted upside down, meaning the direction the phone refreshes its display is from the bottom towards the top.
While this is not a defect or problem from a technical point of view, it can still be perceived by a lot of people, since our brains are usually expecting the panel to refresh from the top towards the bottom. The Jelly comes due to the panel not updating all pixels at once but by line after line instead.. our brain gets used to the bottom of the screen beeing updated later and simply ignores it (very rough explanation but im missing the needed vocab here).. the screen refreshing towards the top the messes with some peoples perception, therefore they notice the "Jelly" aka the lines refreshing last at the top..
This issue is purely caused by our brain expecting the panel to refresh from a different direction, so its simply a matter of getting used to it. I had headaches when using the phone in the first week or so, now I barely notice the Jelly, if at all.
Some, like me, will notice it instantly at first, others might never (Just like the discussions over frame rates, input lag and so on ). There are several factors to consider, everyone has a different sensitivity towards stuff like this and in the end, remember, its no hardware flaw, its a design choice and technically present on every OP5.
Unless they decide to either change the way the display refreshes within the Driver or Display Controller (well, that would actually be some serious work and would need cooperation with Samsung due to them producing the Displays and the Drivers, if its possible at all - again, several dependencies here) or change the direction of the screen in a later model, the "Jelly - Issue" will consist.
But hey, you are right in your other post, if you dont see it, be glad about it and dont bother to start looking for the Issue, no point to try to search for flaws that you didnt have for now, be happy with your phone

For me, it hasnt been the smoothest experience to be honest.. while the phone is crazy fast, the overall handling feels very jittery.. Lots of dropped frames, way more than on my Nexus 5 running MIUI.. My N5 and my iPhone 6 feel so much smoother..
Might have to mess with custom kernels and so on a bit more, overall it at least feels smoother than an S8 tho :laugh:

Yep I do understand how the jelly effect happens, and I understand that "some people" have this gift of being able to see it whilst everyone else "me" are left thinking the world has gone mad.
I've honestly put my two cents in here so many times and it's fallen on deaf ears by the sounds of things so I'm going to leave it, I don't have this effect on my phone, not did I on my previous oneplus five, I have video recordings of the screen in use and this jelly effect does not present itself, I'm sure that with video slowed down even me with my eyes could see it ?
Even if all that were true, if I have to be watching things in slow Mo to see them then I think it's safe to say that it's something that I don't have to worry about.
I also personally don't have lags and glitches on my device, I've also owned more devices than the average shop so i do have a basis for comparison, not only that but I have an unlimited phone supply partly due to where I work, comparing my phone side by side with any top tier device yields no other reason to believe anything other than what I've just written and that's not just me that's my work colleagues seeing the same.
Appreciate that yourself and others see this issue probably more than I.
If you have a fool proof way of me testing my device then please let me know and I'll check, I'll record it and I'll apologise profusely if its present.

What is worse for me is the stuttering. But it's hard to know if it's only me or not as nobody is discussing this, just discussing the jelly.
For me I get a weird stutter at the end of a lot of scrolls, happens more on small scrolls or flings, as it's slowing down I get a little stutter, especially noticeable in the likes of Instagram or YouTube or certain chrome pages like this (xda)

Same here bro, jelly scrolling is ignored by eyes after some time but stuttering is clearly visible, especially scrolling webpages in chrome.

My impressions/review of the phone, in small episodes

I have been putting out information about U11+ in hamdir's thread for couple of days. I thought may be I should collate all the information and create a thread. So, here it is. Note that I am going to keep adding stuff as I use the phone everyday to point out the good the bad and the ugly. Go ahead and ask questions. If its possible for me, I will try to answer.
Quick update
Very quick update folks....
I got the amazing silver in my hands now. Been fiddling with options etc. for last 30 mins.
It a thing of beauty, let me tell you that first and foremost!! Amazing silver is really a shiny light blue colour. I love it!
Indoors, its brighter than my HTC 10 Tianma display. By how much? I don't know but its uncomfortably high for me at max. I won't use it at anywhere close to max. May be around 50%. Can't compare outdoor in direct sunlight until tomorrow. Will update again.
The weight is not a concern for me, its a little bit more than my 10 but not by much. The screen is gorgeous and much better than 10!!
The FP scanner is a little bit of a problem for me because I am not used to the rear scanner. I am finding it odd to pick the phone to use it. But I knew this going in. So, some mental recalibration is necessary. I can see OCD types hating this aspect, but I am fine with it.

Couple of more quick updates:
1. Speakers are much better than HTC 10. Louder and clearer. You would be very pleased to hear these if you upgrade from HTC 10. Just saw the infinity war trailer on it and listened through Thriller....
2. Lowest screen brightness gets very low. Good for night time, in-dark browsing. Much lower than HTC 10.
3. The screen gets much blacker than HTC10 in "day dream" or "always on" mode in the complete darkness, which may help with battery if you are thinking of keeping AOD on always. The "light bleed" associated with LCD panels is still there through. In fact, its little uneven compared to HTC 10. On HTC 10, you can clearly see that the whole screen is lit up but only the text is brighter. On U11+, the lower left part of the screen is almost complete black whereas the right side shows more light bleed. I don't know if its a defect in my unit or its just something impossible to achieve during LCD panel manufacturing. Not perfection but not a big deal for me.
The default is not AOD but it is turn on the dimly lit display when you pick up the phone.
Double tap to wake works (someone asked earlier). On display button let's you put it to sleep in case you don't want to press power button to lock/put it sleep.
So far, thrilled to get this phone. I hope we work out TWRP really quick, root and I can move to this phone as my daily driver.

GSMArena got the battery life wrong on this phone or they tested a different phone. I have been setting up, installing apps, syncing email accounts and generally fiddling with this phone for past 3-4 hours with 1h40m of SOT (screen brightness at 50% with Auto on, my typical setting for HTC 10) and it has consumed about 16% of battery. Haven't got that kind of battery life from any phone I have used or seen anybody else use in practical terms (I don't believe in artificial benchmarks). I think there is nothing to worry about battery life on this phone. This will last even the big time users through the day (10-12 hour day) easily.
One thing i notice is that its idling very well when turned off. My HTC 10 did not do that very well. So, the wifi chip seems to have been fixed up.
Note that its running 8.0.0 with Oct 1st patch. So, this has to still get the 8.1.1 release, which potentially should improve things.

Its still morning here in bay area and not afternoon sunny yet. But with the morning sun behind me, I can clearly say that U11+ is better than my HTC10. With HTC camera app, I looked through a chain of balconies shaded by trees, and sun behind me, to see how far each screen shows me. Side by side, I could see more detail and farther in U11+. This is highly unscientific but the brightness in sunlight is an upgrade from HTC10 Tianma to U11+. I will try to get some photos of the two phones' camera app in sunlight later in the day.
I think brightness jump is not huge from HTC 10, but its big enough for me to say I feel more comfortable taking photos/videos outdoors. Note that Camera sensor may also be playing a role in this. HTC 10 has a smaller f/1.8 aperture. So, more testing may be needed on the screen brightness in general. But practically speaking, I browsed around and I had no trouble reading text with sun behind me, falling directly on the phone. That's good for me, 500 nits or not.
I tried with both Auto brightness enabled and disabled, at max brightness. Results are same.

Someone asked about the FP gestures earlier. I did not find any settings for them and moving the finger around on FP in any direction or double tapping it, does not do anything. So, no gestures on FP, yet.

Someone had asked for 4G/LTE support in the US. At least in the area I am in (bay area, CA), the coverage is same as what I got in HTC 10 on T Mobile.
Regarding the wifi, its much better than HTC 10. I compared side by side and HTC10 needed to be closer to the router by about 10 feet to be able to do speedtest from the point where I could speedtest on U11+ and still get full 90Mbps download speed. U11+ has an excellent wifi range and throughput. I get around -71dBm (signal strength) from my router at a spot where my HTC10 gives me -83dBm. At that spot, U11+ maxes out the internet traffic, whereas 10 is limited to about 45Mbps. So, anyone with HTC 10 will appreciate the huge jump in performance of wifi.
Also, the idling issue found with HTC 10's wifi is not there in U11+. It does not eat through battery while idling on wifi.

Couple of more inputs:
1. I went to work with the phone but unfortunately I did not have the other phones with me to click the photos in bright sunlight but I can tell you, the screen has no problems in the sun. It is very bright and very usable for me. Unless you have a defective unit, the brightness of the screen should not be a concern at all. My experience is only HTC 10 vs U11+, and I am loving the brightness upgrade.
2. Usage with my sunglasses. I can not use HTC 10 in portrait mode with my sunglasses on. It goes complete dark. I did not have any issues with U11+ in both portrait and landscape orientations. Am I thrilled to wear my sunglasses in the car again? HELL YEAH!!!

Make your M7 a cosy bed in that drawer because its going in there for sure and for a long time.... U11+ is big upgrade (from M7 and 10, both of which I own) in sound department, both the speakers and the USB-C headphone jack, through the bundled earbuds. I have found the bundled USB-C earbuds to be of very high quality. I usually throw away packaged earbuds because they usually fall off from my ear but these fit in my ear very well. And boy they block the noise!!! I have no complaints about the missing 3.5mm jack.

Honestly, I don't use this feature anymore. In fact, with casting feature working so well (AC wifi) and its so very convenient compared to the wire, casting gets used most of the time. I used to do this but I never bothered to buy the USB-C cable with my HTC 10.
May be I will try this again. Try some gaming on the big TV screen, fun fun fun!!

screen casting with chromecast or similar technologies always has a noticeable lag of 1-2 seconds. With direct cable connection there is no lag.

So can you please describe us the AOD(always on display)feature how it works with HTC.
Does it have the same customization option as with Samsung or LG(v30)with variety of clock or colors option,image background support,music control(play-pause-forward) and if support notifications from any kind app.
Also when receiving notification and hit it on the screen does it open directly the specific app or not.

AOD on HTC U11+, in my opinion, leaves a lot to be desired. Few observations:
1. It only has two modes: a. show dimly lit clock/lock screen when picked up, b. always on mode, which is fixed 24/7 or on a time schedule. It lacks the mode "show dimly lit clock/lock screen when notifications arrive and repeat every 5 mins until cancelled".
2. Always On mode is a hog. Nearly 2% per hour idling. Not very useful. Its darker than any LCD I have seen before but it still show most of the display in complete darkness.
It does not provide any customization in either mode. You get 4 types of clock and that's about it. It shows apps (including music app) and their notifications with icons on small area and clicking takes to the app after unlock.

I don't have bluetooth headsets to test this sorry.
But the display is the best LCD I have seen. It can not be equal to amoled in terms of blacks, but its the closest that an LCD has come in terms of blacks. I think the LCD technology does not allow this any better compared to amoled in terms of blacks. The contrast is amazing and the brightness is very very good. The usage in direct sunlight is very comfortable.
Unless you want to knit pick (like always on display has slight light bleed, which is the result of them trying too hard to emulate "black"), you won't have any issues with this display.

I specifically bought the HDMI->USB-C cable from Amazon for $19 (one of the most expensive cables I have bought) and tested it. It works great. No lags in the video (my TV is 1080p). The sound through my sound system sounded great.

Idle drain is very minimal
It looks like wifi draining the battery when idling that was seen and documented by me on HTC10, is gone on U11+. I left the sync ON, data and wifi ON overnight. And I lost 2% battery in about 10 hours. This is how it should be.
Very very pleased with the battery and the phone overall. For me, this phone gets almost everything right. It will get better once I get hold of root on it.

how about the audio quality of headphones ?

Does the phone get hot with brightness on max? Or during heavy downloading of Apps or charging?
How long does a full charge take?
Are you using a case / cover? Noticed any scratches on the back?
Does YouTube allow you to stretch to full screen?

I am in SF also. I have been seriously torn about buying a international no warranty phone. I jumped to the LG V30, purchased from B & H then cancelled the order a couple days ago.
However, I ordered the U11+ last night from Amazon - NGP Store USA. They get decent reviews but have a really strict return policy. I tried the U11 earlier this year but returned it. The U11+ had all the U11 was missing + more. [emoji3]

I did not buy a warranty. I took a chance and its been fine so far. The quality of the device and manufacturing is very very high. I am very pleased with the whole experience. Do not believe anybody who disses this device. It checks pretty much every box I had. Biggest thing is Treble. I expect to run well supported AOSP on this thing.
I am using the bundled transparent case and I am fine with it. Its minimal and it shows off the amazing silver very well.

This phone does not get hot under any circumstances (brightness or extended play). I have it in the bundled minimal case, and I played racing games for extended periods of time (connected to my TV using a USB-C to HDMI adapter). It drove the TV's 1080p display without any delay and with great sound! It felt warm after an hour of play but I would qualify that a lukewarm. My HTC 10 definitely gets much warmer than U11+. So, its an upgrade for me.

I never measured this from 0 to 100%. I am not worried about this though. All I can tell you is it charges very fast.

It depends on the video's aspect ratio. For example, Inifinity War Trailer filled the screen but apple sway ad did not. It does not stretch in general and I think that's the right thing to do. I would not like videos with a different native aspect ratio than 2:1 to stretch and show all stretched faces etc.

Screen sensitivity issue - Read it if you game with your XZ2 Compact!

I received my phone today. I have been VERY pleased with it for the few hours I was using it, but when I started playing PUBG Mobile I detected something odd, that avoided me to aim properly.
There's a problem with the screen sensitivity, I'm not sure how to define it, but it feels like a dead zone that moves with your finger. The phone will not detect small movements, kind of a precision problem.

I'm returning the phone, and I'll buy again if Sony fixes this via software (I hope they will!). I will gladly replace my S8 with this XZ2 Compact if we ignore this problem.
I don't think my particular unit is defective, but let me know if you experience is different just in case. If you have the same, let's try to make some noise and get an official response from Sony.
Edit: tried the big XZ2 in a store (not the compact) and had the same issue, so we can assume most XZ2 and XZ2 compact are impacted. Let's hope it's just software.

Update: I went to a mall and tried the XZ2 non-compact, with identically disappointing results. Sony needs to fix this. Some could say the compact is not a device for gaming because it's small, but the same argument doesn't hold for the bigger brother.

maybe the display is not so well for the pen you are using. i noticed that the display was even reacting when i had two display protective films on it at the same time.
try to play around with glove mode. maybe this helps.

Thanks for the idea, however that's not the issue. I tried disabling and enabling the glove mode. I tried with my finger and with the pen (made the video with the pen because it's easier to see in a video). I tried two models, normal XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, with identical results. Tried while charging and without the charging cable as well.
It's not an obvious issue or easy to perceive, until you are trying to shoot at somebody in the head with a sniper rifle inside a game. It lacks precision. I'm not even sure if this is a deal breaker because probably I won't notice in daily usage, but I play games from time to time...
If you have the device, try it your self, try to draw tiny circles and compare with another device. I tested a few units so while I cannot say that every device out there is affected, I can also say that it's not just a couple of isolated cases.
I also compared to the Galaxy S8 (in the video) and to my friend's XZ1. The XZ1 didn't have the issue either, and I don't believe Sony sourced they touchscreen panels and controllers from a cheaper and worse source. I'm really hopeful this is just software, cause I love the device.

yes i have noticed the same problem. a small glide or flick to scroll requires a little more effort than my Sammy s9 plus. Not a huge deal but again paying Flagship money the screen shouldnt have such issues.

Similar to the screen lag i know from the honor 9. But less terrible.
No dealbreaker for me because i rarely game shooter, but noticeable when i tried shadowgun legends.

Have you tried to contact Sony support? I'm a bit frustrated, they told me to apply whatever update there is, perform a factory reset, run the device diagnostics, and if the problem persists, that means it is hardware and I should contact local support to get it repaired or exchanged. They closed my support ticket after giving that response, without waiting for my response.
They obviously didn't understand or care about the issue here. The screen diagnostics test is passed, but the issue is still there.
I don't know what to provide in order to get somebody from Sony support look at the case and evaluate escalating the ticket to whatever team that handles bugs.

Honestly i haven't. Because it seems that i don't have a faulty device as you have the same problem. So there probably will be no real help by support.
Seems also no general sensitivity issue because once you started scrolling it reacts instantly on further scrolls. Only at the beginning there is a short delay.
As already told the same behavior is known with the honor9 but far worse.
For me it's no problem, i almost never play shooter on the Smartphone, that's what a PC (or console) is made for...

I've seen this issue in 3 devices already, two of them being the big XZ2 and one of them my Compact. Some more users have noticed the same behavior in other regions. I do believe it's a general issue. Maybe not every device is affected, but many seem to be.
Maybe some people don't have a defective phone, but until proven wrong I'd rather think some people do not perceive it care about it (same story as with the jelly in the OP5 here, people kept telling "my phone is fine" because they didn't see it).
Anyway, it is NOT a delay problem as much as it is a precision or dead zone problem. I can keep trying to draw tiny circles across the screen and only a straight line will be detected by the phone. Then I can run the touchscreen diagnostic tool and Sony will say there's no problem with my device, because this to only checks for fixed dead zones.
I understand some older phone that costs half the price might have some issue that resembles this one, but support could try to submit this to their Dev team and let us know if they acknowledge it as an issue or not. I mean, that's a very standard support procedure in the industry. In every IT support.
Off topic: not trying to argue here, but I never understood the argument of "I don't do X on my phone, because that's what Y are made for". You can apply it to everything a phone does, each function can be replaced by a standalone GPS, camera, Music player, game console, etc. I understand the personal preference or not doing certain things on a phone because of screen size or whatever, but when you spend 600usd + on a phone, it should be good at everything is capable of doing. Nobody would imagine an iPhone X user saying "The camera is crap but I don't care because that's with my Nikon is for. Audio is ****, but that's why you buy a Walkman. The GPS is not good, but that's why Tomtom exists"

Yes one should be able to expect support like that. In reality i gave up hope to ever find a good support, no matter what brand or product. Only ones i made good experience are small companies here in germany who sell rare high end products (speaking about vaping in particular).
But what i did was writing this problem to a bigger hardware/software site which also made a review and did not mention it. But i am still waiting for their comment.
Sure you are right about the second point. That was just the explanation why i personally don't care about. Doesn't mean i would think it's good as it is or that no one should game with his Smartphone. Just my personal point of view. And i play shooter etc. only on PC (or for performance testing on the Smartphone).

I'm having the same problem with PUBG. I'm not experiencing it anywhere else on the phone but again other than shooters like PUBG where else would you see it. I really hope this gets fixed.

Well, my experience is worse. Leaving aside the serious lagginess of the phone (by comparison to which my Xc and XZ1c are extremely fluid), it seems to miss my every 5th or 6th press/command. All over the screen. And it's particularly annoying because, otherwise, and except for the lacking audio jack, it's well nigh perfect for my tastes.
Updated twice (now on April security) and hard reset once. No difference.

If your phone is laggy and you also tried already hard reset then you should have other problems. There is really no lag with my xz2c at all - it is even faster than my U11.
Don't know if it's the OP but the issue with the screen was already posted on sony support forum. Still I wouldnt call it sensitivity issue because when tipping the screen reacts fast. There is just a small delay for small movements on the screen, it starts to move after a certain way and not instantly.
Meanwhile i really hope they can fix it because i start caring. Not because of gaming, but i noticed how much trouble you get in certain situations (e.g. selecting text or adjusting a slider to a certain value like screen color adjustment...). Otherwise this perfect phone has a negative that might let me not keep it.

Yes, it's laggy, as in 'non-fluid'. Scrolling through menus, transitions etc. Not unusably laggy, just visibly and uncomfortably so. But the bigger problem is the missed sixth-or-so press.

Well i can't confirm any of these problems. Smooth as it could be and so far no missed tipps. Would be perfect if the screen would not have that swipe delay that obviously every device has.

True thing, the phone should be lightning fast! I was for me during the time I had it. Pixel-level smoothness.
Going back to the problem, I wouldn't call it delay for the following reason: for me a delay means that I touch the screen, and the screen reacts later than it should. So if you watch the video, I'm trying to draw circles and the problem is not that they appear late, it's that they are an almost straight line instead. I think the appropriate word would be low precision when tracking fine touches.
By the way, the experience with support is getting very frustrating, they want me to send back my phone. There's no option to submit a potential software bug for review, if the helpdesk guy doesn't have the issue listed anywhere in their database, you will be asked to send the phone physically to a repair center, no matter the nature of the problem (basically they won't care). I'm still confident that this is a driver problem, Sony fixed touchscreen issues a few years back (in the Z5 Compact I believe) with a software update.

After being a bit rude to them (not proud about it, I apologized already), finally got the following response from support:
We are sorry to hear you are unsatisfied with our communication regarding the touch performance of your Xperia XZ2, we hope to atone for that shortly.
We have already internally raised this issue to the specialised team, using the threads and pictures on the forum you have supplied and from other users too.
We recommend sending the device to repair to make sure that the device has no manufacturing hardware faults, and to ensure that the software repair was done correctly before escalating the issue even further. And if there's a chance that one of our customers can have a more pleasant experience with the device if it turns out to be something we can fix, we always like to go with that solution.
However, please be assured that the issue has already been raised internally, and our team is working on making sure you have the best user experience as soon as possible.

The thing is i dont believe its a hardware fault (defect). Either they can patch it or not. In the last case i would send my device back, but i have only one week left -.-
