Best way to PRL update (non-stock ROM) - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using LineageOS on my Sprint GS5. Need to PRL update and understand it cannot be done from LOS. I understand the stock ROM can be loaded via ODIN/Windows. I don't use Windows anymore so is there a modified stock ROM that can be installed via TWRP that would do PRL update? Or is there some other PRL update method?

Lg g2 d80020k

So I just got a new AT&T LG G2 and it got updated to the newest version of the firmware which is the D80020k firmware. I wanted to root and install Mahdi rom but I cant get a custom recovery onto my phone because the firmware is not supported (trying to get TWRP). So now I am looking to see if I can revert my phone back to the D80010D firmware. But this is my dilemma. Is it safe to use LG FlashTool on D80020K firmware to go back to D80010D firmware?
Figured it out!
I am back on jellybean! I just took the risk and used LG Flash Tool....worked fine
Quick note: the latest firmware version is 20y (20k -> 20u -> 20y).
Even with 20y, you can still root and install TWRP recovery on it.
Anyway, you got everything under control. Congrats.

[Q] Boost XT1031 running CM 12.1 any way to update PRL and Profile?

I'm trying to get my son's XT1031 running Cyanogenmod 12.1 (snapshot build) provisioned on ringplus, which consists of updating the PRL and Profile.
The stock firmware has these under settings, but I cannot find any way to do this with CM 12.1. Is there a way to do this, or do I need to flash back to stock? Also if I do need to flash, is there a stock-ish ROM available that I can flash through custom recovery (TWRP) that I can use to update the PRL and Profile?
Thanks in advance.

ATT OTA Update available after installing D85020f stock debloated/rooted?

Wondering what the OTA update is after installing the stock debloated and rooted 20f for my AT&T D850. It is 5.0.1. Is there a later phone software available from ATT? I assume if I install I will lose root?
Thank you!

If you install while rooted it'll either tell you no or result in boot loop. If you have twrp it's not gonna work. You have to be stock to take an OTA update.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
and no stock lollipop available other than custom method ..
i badly need KDZ or TOT for lollipop

Flashing new OTA update on rooted MotoG3

Motorola has released new OTA update of 371.4 MB in India.
I read that since I am a rooted user I must not try to flash this update.
I would like the help from xda to install these updates. Should I install stock firmware 6.0.1 first?
Two ways to do it
1. Flash stock ROM 6.0from factory firmware link. Allow ota to download and phone should upgrade to 6.0.1
2. Flash the 6.0.1 stock ROM which is made available in factory firmware link. -Update: 6.0.1 is already the updated system with the new ota of 371mb.
Option 2 is more convenient.
While upgrading to mm 6.0 via ota, on my rooted phone I had tried flashing the stock recovery and cleaning the root. but it did not help and I landed with a soft bootloop. The ota checks for the original fingerprint of the stock system which is why you need to be on stock firmware for the ota update method.
You need stock recovery and stock firmware.

can i update a rooted device?

my device is currently rooted and i just recieved an update from samsung. i am using a super kernel v1.4 and i would like to update to the lastest version which requires this update from samsung. can i update my device ota or must i download the firmware from sammobile and reflash everything then install everything else again. if i am able to update the phonr ota can i also just flash the new kernel to replace the old one? i want a clean install.
OTA won't work on a custom device (Rooted / Kernel / Recovery), I'm surprised you even got the notification for an update tbh
You'll have to update manually when the firmware arrives as a flashable ROM
