Hi,
Love my new gear s3 frontier...sleek and sexy with satisfactory battery life.
My only gripe with it is the HORRIBLE s voice app and pathetic stock map....
Is there anyway to replace these with google maps and google voice?
i.e. 'ok google, navigate home'....then it automatically opens google map or just having the ability to speak out the address would be helpful.
Thanks
Google maps and search do not work on Tizen.

Nope, this is the downside of choosing a gear s3. The watch and ui are better but you don't get full Google integration.
Gear Navigator Standalone seems to be pretty good. Haven't gone through it as I have only had the S3 for a couple days. It is a pay app, think it was like $3.00 or something. I'm in the US.
Type Google maps in the gear store there is a api for Google maps there and brings up Google maps on the watch it needs work tho.
What about Here?
As far as I can see "Here we go does" not send direction arrows to the Gear.
There is a "Here we go" app on the Gear s3 itself but inserting addresses etc is quite a job with those small keys.
So ask Nokia:"Why not send the arrows from the phone app to the gear.
A dealbraker (haha it's free) is also that it does not seem to look in my address book.
Google maps is far superior (Can send info to phone e.g. )but they do not seem to want to do something for Tizen.
So "Directions gear s2" is good solution and it works on my S3.
"Directons for gear s2' to has to be installed on the phone.

I use Here we go on my phone and it sends directions to the Gear S3 frontier perfectly. I use it a lot when driving as I get vibration on my wrist and it's almost always in my line of sight. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your phone and watch.

yep, that did the job.
Thanks.
Is the Here we go app on te gear it selve necessary for doing he job?
I will see, on the long run, which of the two will win.
I have the idea so far that I have to start Directons for gear s2' manually, to see the arrows. Turning the Gear weel gives me ETA.
While Here arrows start directly, after having moved my phone a bit.

I am not sure. I installed it but I think it uses the Gear maps or what's it called as that is powered by Here also.

Use HERE in samsung store
Gear Navigator Companion is definitely worth the small amount of money you pay for it. The phone app is really clean and intuitive and links to the watch quickly and accurately.
It has great map detail and best of all you get the option of using Google Street Map images on the watch if you wish! There's also a navigator clock face that displays the time and turn arrows appear in the centre if you are navigating, so you don't need to go back and forth to check the time etc.
.
I looked throught the API docs for the Tizen wearable SDK with the idea of building an app that would integrate with (or at least pass commands to) Google assistant and Samsung's docs clearly state that the voice API is only available for the mobile development SDK and not the wearable SDK.
So I don't think anybody will be building an app to allow Google assistant integration any time soon

How do you send directions from the phone "Here we Go" app to the Gear S3 Frontier ?
I downloaded Gear navigator (standalone)
At first I thought it was great, that was until I entered my next destination which was 200km away. I got a message saying max distance is 100km.
Why wasn't that in the description? I wouldn't have paid for it had I known that.

I bought this app but on the couple of occassions I've tried it on my S3 Frontier it has not worked at all well to be honest. I could set my destination and route no problem on the phone app, but then when I was walking it did not seem to manage to keep up with where I actually was (I had good clear view above for GPS - no high buildings) so the turn alerts were hopeless as it was not properly tracking my current location. Will try it again but so far am not convinced.

Is it the Gear Navigator Standalone version or Navigator Companion that you are using? They are quite different in use.
I am using the Companion version which doesn't rely solely on the watch GPS.

Sorry for the late reply.
I really don't do anything special. I had Here wego in the phone with offline maps already. I got the s3 so I set it up standard. Installed navigator and here wego apps and it started working automatically. Just need to make sure phone has bluetooth connection to the s3.
After updating my Gear S3 to Tizen 3.0 I haven´t been able to get my Endomondo app on my watch to save or sync my workouts. I´ve got the latest app versions on both my phone and watch and have tried uninstalling and installing again with no luck. I suppose it has got something to do with the Tizen update as there were no problems before the update.
Anyone got a workaround for this problem?
Same here...and also there was an update few days ago. But it did not solve the issue.
Have you written to endomondo team about it?

Yeah, but no answer yet
This morning I tried Uninstalling and then installing the Endomondo app on both my S7 and Gear S3 and now there are no problems saving my workouts.
Endomondo support wrote to me that there are several users having troubles saving workouts and that they have contacted Samsung about this problem.
I removed Endomondo from my Gear S3 and added it again...it seems to be working now.
I followed your guys, reinstall and it works now !!!.
I've just tried Endomondo on my Gear S3 to record a kayaking activity. It worked, but the battery drained so fast from 98% to 15% for 4 hours. I must stop Endomondo in S3 to save battery, since I still had a few hours in the activity. It could only record half of the trip impractically. Wifi and bluetooth had been switch off previously, and audio alert of the app was disabled. The outdoor screen brightness was forced to 8 by this app in S3 that couldn't be decreased during the activity to save battery power.
I dare not to use this app for my outdoor activity again such as hiking and kayaking, unless there's another workaround to let me use it to record a trip for about 6 to 8.5 hours.
Hello Im new in the forum, but need to write this in the fórum because I think that my Gear S3 cost to much money and fails in all fitness app
1) When I use it in the gym, the gear auto detect training is in on mode, it can detect when I run or walk in the Walking machine, but when I go to eliptical bycicle it detect the excercise but suddenly stop and shut down the training.
2) It cant count correctly the floors, sometimes I make 6 or 7 floors and it doesnt count, sometimes I only do an excersice like walking machine, and it count 15 floors
3) The bezel doesnt work properly out of the box
4) The battery with new OS Tizen 3.0 is 20 hours duration with Watch always on disable.
I like the Gear S3 but want to know if the comunity have the same problems. Thanks
Hi all.
Apologies if this has been addressed but I can't seem to find a solid answer. I have just bought a Gear S3 Non LTE version. I have enabled location and am using S Health / UA Record. Today I went for a parkrun without my phone, I got a GPS signal pretty quick but as I was running I noticed the Distance on the watched showed 0.0km. At the end of the run my watch sync'd with my phone, I can see my workout on S Health but the distance shows 0.0km. I can also see the map of the route but no markers.
I then tried using UA Record to do another quick run but same issue, distance showed as - - and wouldn't move.
I then tried a walk with my phone and the watch and the distance recorded fine.
Do I need nw phone with me to record distance? Surely not. Or am I just being a n00b and doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Could be the permissions of the S health app, if your watch is recording the kms you are running then is the phone app.
Try using other app or grant the proper permissions. Definitly using a Galaxy/Samsung phone do better job. I am using with note 8 and no problems so far.
Thank you for the message! But the watch does not track the kms if the phone is not with me. Even when I sync later there are no kms. I see no distance if I run without my phone. I have tried with 3 apps and all have the same issue.

That's just weird, the watch must track your distance without the phone. I use mine to run and I leave my phone home, using spotify and the s health in the watch.
One thing I noticed is that I need to lock the GPS before running because it takes up to 10 minutes to lock (some said) if I don't lock it the watch doesn't track my distance.
Huawei Watch 2 Sport not detected as a "heart rate monitor" in Huawei Health app
So I went running today and wanted to try out one of the provided plans which are available in Huawei Health app in the Exercise tab on the bottom, and then after selecting Trained at the top, to be specific the Fat Burning Run - MIIT programme, but it keeps saying that "A heart rate monitoring device is required for this course.". The point is, I have HW2 Sport connected to my phone at all times, synced both in Wear OS app, as well as in Huawei Wear and Huawei Health apps consecutively. Now that I took a look at it, my heart rate is actually being synced to the Health app, as it can be seen on it's Home page, but for some reason doesn't work with their provided workouts. Has anybody ran into similiar issue and perhaps knows a solution to this?
1st post be gentle please.
I have exactly the same issue. The annoying thing is that my wife has a band 2 which I got for £25 on black Friday and it works perfectly. I don't. Understand why Huawei apparently decided not to include the Watch 2 in its list of supported devices as it clearly would work... The fat burning training program on the watch itself (workout app) works perfectly, so why not connected to the phone...? Any ideas please?
