Hello Im new in the forum, but need to write this in the fórum because I think that my Gear S3 cost to much money and fails in all fitness app
1) When I use it in the gym, the gear auto detect training is in on mode, it can detect when I run or walk in the Walking machine, but when I go to eliptical bycicle it detect the excercise but suddenly stop and shut down the training.
2) It cant count correctly the floors, sometimes I make 6 or 7 floors and it doesnt count, sometimes I only do an excersice like walking machine, and it count 15 floors
3) The bezel doesnt work properly out of the box
4) The battery with new OS Tizen 3.0 is 20 hours duration with Watch always on disable.
I like the Gear S3 but want to know if the comunity have the same problems. Thanks

Hi I rang samsung support up today for help but only got a patronising woman on the other end. On my phone under shealth there are 90 odd sports and only 8 on my watch. 4 of which i dont do, there are loads of sports however on my phone that i do. I want to be able to transfer the sports that i do in the gym to my watch. I was told thatbthis cannot be done. So i have a £300 watch with only 4/5 exercises on it that will track me.. Someone pls enlighten me.. There must be a way of syncing my shealth phone to the watch if not is there another app that will allow me to do what i want it to.. or what is the point in having the watch if the first place... pls help
I'm using an S3 Classic and thinking of getting a Frontier as well (wanted a Tag Connected Modular 45 but unimpressed with its battery and lack of speaker... Oh and the price). Presumably I can connect both to the Gear app on my Note7 but will both have full functionality and all apps and will it just be a case of selecting the watch I want to use in the Gear app, switching whenever. Anyone done it?
I have the S3 Frontier LTE and im thinking of getting the classic. Interested to know if 2 watches will work
I'll let you know later. My Frontier should arrive today!
I can confirm that BOTH watches work perfectly. Apps can be installed on both (paid apps work without having to pay a second time). There's a drop down to allow you to select which watch you want to connect to. When selecting the new watch the other one disconnects immediately and the second one connects within a few seconds. There's an automatic connection option which is supposed to connect to the watch being worn but haven't got that to work yet. Maybe it takes a bit of time. So pleased at how easy it is to swap watches.
Further information. There was a software update for the Frontier which I installed. Now, the auto switching works perfectly. Both watches turned on and the phone connects to whichever one you wear. Take the connected watch off, put on the other and hey presto, drops the original connection and connects to the one you are now wearing. Perfect.
This nolonger works. The gear app will prompt you to reset the watch when switching watches. Reset will cause you to lose your downloaded apps, your cards in Samsung Pay and your third party watch faces (like the ones from the watch maker app).
Works for me every time with no issues other than I have to set up Samsung Pay each time.
Correction. Just swooped from Frontier to Classic and back to Frontier (simply by taking one off my wrist and putting the other on) and Samsung Pay still active. So no issues at all.
Hi peeps
I want to get a gear S3 but I already have a Gearfit 2.
I want to use the Gearfit 2 for work and the S3 for and out and about.
One of the concerns I have is I also want to be able to track some steps at work and when I get home use the other watch and continue to count steps from where I was on the other one, like how fitbit do it.
Can that be done?
So I used to use Under Amour Record on the watch and phone for tracking workouts. I would put on an external HRM and then start the app on the phone and do my Crossfit workout. Once done I would stop the work out on the phone an then after awhile the app would update on the watch. I ditched it thinking I could accomplish the same thing with S Health
So I went into Shealth and pair my external HRM to the app. I started a circuit training session ( since they dont have a Crossfit Workout ) for about 1.5 hours. Took the Gear 3 off and went out my workout. Got done and stopped the workout on my Google Pixel S Health App and it tracked decent. But I do not see the workout on my watch. Does the software on the phone not talk to the software on the app? I know the watch will sync workouts to the app on the phone and steps sleep etc, but does the phone not speak to the watch?
Also on the app on the phone how do you see your all day calorie burn??
I am a newb so maybe I am missing something
Any help would be appreciated
You can just transfer your workouts from gear to shealth, not from shealth to gear.

Hi all.
Apologies if this has been addressed but I can't seem to find a solid answer. I have just bought a Gear S3 Non LTE version. I have enabled location and am using S Health / UA Record. Today I went for a parkrun without my phone, I got a GPS signal pretty quick but as I was running I noticed the Distance on the watched showed 0.0km. At the end of the run my watch sync'd with my phone, I can see my workout on S Health but the distance shows 0.0km. I can also see the map of the route but no markers.
I then tried using UA Record to do another quick run but same issue, distance showed as - - and wouldn't move.
I then tried a walk with my phone and the watch and the distance recorded fine.
Do I need nw phone with me to record distance? Surely not. Or am I just being a n00b and doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Could be the permissions of the S health app, if your watch is recording the kms you are running then is the phone app.
Try using other app or grant the proper permissions. Definitly using a Galaxy/Samsung phone do better job. I am using with note 8 and no problems so far.
Thank you for the message! But the watch does not track the kms if the phone is not with me. Even when I sync later there are no kms. I see no distance if I run without my phone. I have tried with 3 apps and all have the same issue.

That's just weird, the watch must track your distance without the phone. I use mine to run and I leave my phone home, using spotify and the s health in the watch.
One thing I noticed is that I need to lock the GPS before running because it takes up to 10 minutes to lock (some said) if I don't lock it the watch doesn't track my distance.
Hi,
I have a Gear S3 SM-R760 running One UI 1.0 and software version R760XXU2ESF2 (Tizen 4.0.0.4).
Up until Saturday July 13, 2019, I had no issues with my Gear S3 detecting workouts, whether it was dynamic, running or on the elliptical, but I went on the elliptical Monday night and it didn't detect the workout at all.
-Heart rate monitor is set to continuous.
-I checked and the workout detection is enabled both on the watch and on my phone (Samsung S8, SM-G950W running Pie).
-I confirmed that elliptical was enabled in the workout detection.
-I factory reset the watch and re-setup everything.
It still isn't working. I tried Samsung help but their default response is to factory reset the watch (which I tried again just incase). My warranty ran out 6 days ago so I'd have to ship this watch to get it looked at and by the time I do that and pay the minimal fee I'm in it for almost $100 CND. I might as well put it towards a Wear OS watch instead for all the issues I have with all my Samsung products.
Any other ideas what I could try? Otherwise I'll just have to start my workouts manually which I'm sure I will forget to do half the time.
Thanks.
