Hi to everyone, I have set up across adb on my sony xperia xz premium, 4K resolution and 806 dpi of density, now the question is: when I did the same on sony xperia z5 premium going on cpu-z or aida64 I see 806 dpi and correct 4K resolution, if I do the same with sony xperia xz premium I see 4K resolution but 403 dpi, why?, then I would like to ask if the camera does photos/video automatically in 4k hdr or just 4k? the phone has a hdr sensor?
Thank you for your replies
news?
Have you restarted your device since applying the DPI via ADB??
Yes sure, on xperia z5 premium even without restarting device dpi changes to 806, on xperia xz premium it remains to 403 in cpu-z or aida64
I've noticed that in that guy's guide too. I was like "Why the heck is the dpi 403"?
See for yourself at exact time: https://youtu.be/ogmK_dwcxT0?t=595
It's obviously a general issue, and who knows why it does that...
That's sony for you!
Yes and it happens also if in developer settings of phone I set manually dpi, so normally from the software, seems like there is no way to change it, like if sony changes it automatically to not make display too little I dunno
Same problem

Hi, I have the same problem. Did you find a solution for this problem?
Doesn't changing the resolution through ADB just change the rendering resolution, which is then downscaled to 1080p? As far as I know those 4k switchers and guides never actually make your phone display 4k resolution.

After ADB, my Z5 Premium switched to 4K 806 ppi and I had a great view for VR videos, they looked fantastic but the CPU and the GPU overheated in a short time. So I bought XZ Premium for better GPU and CPU performance but after ADB my XZ Premium switched to 4K 403 ppi which did not make any difference in the view, no heating problem but no good view.

Correct. For the Z5 it was real 4K. For the XZ Premium it's just rendered 4K downscaled to 1080p. 4K only works for specific apps, like YouTube, if you select the 4K option.

as far as i know not. there is also no 60 fps camera yet. the snapdragon 800 should be able to capture in 60 fps i think but not in 120 fps

The SD 800 is able to capture 120fps at 720p (Note 3). But there is no option in N5. Maybe with an application.... That's why I'm asking...

What are you smoking?
The CPU isn't the one capturing the video, it's the camera module and if it's not capable then the CPU doesn't matter.
Surely the CPU needs to be able to process that much information as well but the camera module is the one that has to be capable of capturing it.

I don't smoking....
I think the camera is capable of shooting 120fps in lower resolution and the cpu capable of processing the image....
I think that the iPhone 5(and yes I mean 5 and not 5s)hasn't got a a better camera than the N5.
It was just questions...
Edit : I made a mistake, the iPhone 5 can capture a video with 60fps and not 120...

See this video
I saw a video on youtube where S3 could record at 120fps by porting camera app from Note 2. So i believe it's not hardware based as S3 is a very old phone. If it can do it, sure N5 can do it easily
Z5 camera sensor?
Anyone knows what kind of image sensor are being used on Xperia Z5? Since I have searched on the web but nothing was found? IMX what?
We don't know.
They've not announced the full details.
All we know it is a custom, 1/2.3 Exmor RS 25MP sensor.

So the articles saying shooting in 20MP 16:9 is higher resolution than 23MP in 4:3 aspect ratio?

I think they mean only horizontally as you can see in the picture. 16:9 is 5984px vs 4:3 is 5520px.
I use cardboard to see movies but due to 480p display I see many pixels. Is there any hardware or anything by which I can upgrade my phone display to at least HD display?I'm using xperia e3 dual D2212. Note :I'm not talking about dpi here.

Theres nothing you can change to have a HD display. The display resolution depend on the display hardware which is unchangeable. The only thing you can do is to watch videos/movies with resolution of 480p(854 x 480) or higher to not get any pixel distribution.
I'm personally leaning towards the 1080p 60FPS video from my brief tests. It's SO smooth. I wish we had a 4K 60FPS option...
What does everyone else prefer?
I would record at 4K 30fps over 1080 60fps because 1080 60fps is blurry compared to all other modes. I personally prefer 1080 @30fps because i dont have any 4K compatible tvs or computers.

I've never noticed blur. Did you notice on the phone or when viewed on a larger screen?

I didn't know that.. I'll have to test the zoom.

On the phone for sure, I haven't looked on a larger screen lately as I sent my phone to google on an RMA. I get the new device in a day or so so I'll have to look then.

I do lol thats why I use 4k cuz i can zoom without messing up the video quality
Either way, 60fps makes me want to barf and looks too fake. Like when people use the 120fps filter on their TV's. I think with free storage, may as well use 4k @ 30. Although, I feel the image stabilization is stronger @ 1080
Hi guys, I received a XZP yesterday.
I found an abnormal phenomenon, when the screen display light things, it looks like a Oil canvas, crude.
Even I use 4k global display (BY [MOD] Change Default Resolution to 4k - No root needed!), this still happen.
I feel the screen is not smooth like Z2.
So is anyone like me?
BTW, the forum date is UTC ?

I'm trying to take photo with it, but no result. I need high resolution device to do it. I'm trying again. But it is very obvious on eye.
It happens because of atypical RGB matrix in XZ Premium display. There is more about it: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z5_premium_4k_display_under_our_microscope-blog-13887.php Its Z5 Premium but the same situation is in XZ Premium.

Got it, Thank you for your answer.
I think running 4K makes the phone to crash UI so maybe that's why it's not that smooth.
Try 2K like this video
I think what OP means is, that in real bright light the Screen gets boosted with some whiteish overlay to get a little more brightness. This looks really ugly and happens on my device, too.
