Nokia 3 have a very good ,new battery protection ! How it works: When you put the phone to charger and You still use the phone, the temperature of the battery is increasing and the sensor trigged the protection. From this moment the battery will not be charged UNTIL THE TEMPERATURE BECOME NORMAL ! After that the charging process continue to 100%.

[Q] battery fully drained and phone isn't charging or powering on

My Moto G which I bought from Saudi Arabia 2 days ago before coming back to Egypt for good has the following scenario:
Note: I'm using the original moto g charger "500 mah" that came in the box with my phone.
1st 100% charge overnight, then lasted almost 14 hrs.
2nd overnight charge, only did 95% "even tho it was plugged for 7-8 hrs" and lasted 7 hrs before battery go to zero level and device shut down.
when my phone shut down, it got stuck at the coma status, I tried every method mentioned in this post but the "waiting till the next day method" and nothing did work.
methods I used: freezer, fridge, 18 sec power on, 1 minute power on, 2-3-4 minutes power on and even the exact method on Motorola website and that method one member suggested to blug in the headphone while trying to power on or charge.
chargers I used with every method: Moto G 500 mah, Alcatel 550 mah, Galaxy Tab 7 2ah and Blackberry USB cable on computer.
result, nothing! phone still dead, and i can't return it cause I'm in a different country now and we don't even have it yet here.
my Moto G is 16GB, dual sim and running stock Kit Kat 4.4 which is available for the phone. no modified roms or any other dev setting was applied, the phone wasn't rooted. it's just like out of the box, few apps installed "some of them are downloaded from the internet" and stock upgraded to kit kat.
before hitting the zero level, the phone was charged for few minutes on a samsung charger, most probably it's for a note 3. when it went off I tried a car charger "bleackberry" for few minutes which gave me 3 pulse led white notification and nothing else.
I guess this shouldn't be related to the situation, but I'm using a data sim as sim 2 for internet and sim 1 for calls only. phone internet is running on H+ most of the time, 3G the if not H+.
I'm going to wait till tomorrow and try again, hopefully it works. but if anyone got any ideas or solutions PLEASE go on and reply with it even if you're not sure or if it's a crazy idea out of the box.
I only used the phone for 2 days :crying: I had VERY high expectations for this phone :crying:
(Update 1) I left the phone unplugged for 12 hours, plugged it in the 550mah charger for 2-3 hours, pressed the power button 1-2-3 minutes and no results still. also motorola Asia didn't reply to my email yet.
(Update 2) I unplugged the battery and put it back on, still nothing. some guy told me to connect it to a box and restore the software back to Jellybean and that the box should be capable of booting the phone up. will try that and refer back to you.
I really hope you find a solution for this, since I'm an Egyptian too who is interested greatly in moto g and may take the plunge of buying it from amazon, this really freaks me out.
I haven't read all the posts in the other topic on this subject but from what I read on other websites and could be mentioned before, you can try the following:
Plug a higher mAH charger (suggested 850 for example or 5V 2A charger) as it was probably with your blackberry car charger, then hold the power button for 2 minutes, If the LED blinks keep it charging for 10 minutes.
No idea If it would work or not of course.
I did so

Thank you bro, I know u get the whole pic.. I did actually try the car charger for almost 30-40 minutes but nothing.. only 3 blinks and that's it.. it didn't even keep the led on for few seconds,, just the 3 blinks and when I tried to turn it on, nothing!
btw, from the past 2 days, it's a great phone.. only this issue.. also the official kit kat update is a poor one, missing a lot of features but works GREAT on the phone.. u can get the phone from UAE or KSA.. the 16GB dual sim card is being sold for 900AED or 900SAR which is actually a TRUE bargain. also the charger u get with the phoneis 500 mah, so you better use another one that can charge faster cause this one is REALLY slow. you can use up to 1500mah
hopefully tho i get a decent reply from motorola for this issue.. no high hopes tho since it's not available in Egypt. :crying:
Yes, the price to value ratio for the moto g is incredible, it's really unfortunate that it wasn't/won't be released in Egypt.
Well, If I were you I would have tried the only suggestion remaining: to leave the phone for 24 hours without plugging it in or trying to power it on, then attempt again to charge it the next day. I really wish you luck in fixing this.
In the meantime, I will keep looking for any other suggestions and If I find any I will post here.
yeah!

I really need a Android Kitkat phone that isn't too expensive, I saw the Moto G and thought about buying one but if this happens then I wont
i guess.

well, the phone is amazing, really fast and good in every way except few things, some basic not very important features are missing and this drained out not charging issue.
on this post everyone was able to fix their issue, except me.. so it seem fixable 99% and u can also skip this issue if u simple shut down your phone when it reach 3-4% and turn it on again when the charger is there.. i guess.
btw, I had an S4 LTE before the moto g, and I'll never pick the S4 again. i enjoyed the moto g more and the S4 sucked in many ways like over heating and battery life time which was 6-7 hrs and the cheap housing materials "screen cracked when had a slight fall and fixing it was half the price of a new S4"
Im having the same problem as you, i tried every method as you. The 24hours method i havent fully tried it yet. I left it for 24 hours and when i plugged it in the charger I still have the same problem. The people in motorola told me to leave it for 2-3 hours on charge and that's what exactly what im doing. Motorola should test the battery's before shipping a phone

I faced the same problem once. When I plugged it to charge it's battery was about 80%. Then suddenly it went to 0% and it was automatically shut down. After charging it further 30 miss, it was still 0%. I turned it off, after removing back cover I pressed battery a little. Turned it on and the problem was solved. It happened 10 days back and never again. I am totally satisfied with moto g. It's a great phone.
-connect your phone to a charger
-hold the power button for 2-3min (led should blink few times)
-leave the phone connected for 1hour
-unplug it and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds and it should turn on.

Having the same problem here.
Tried to charge the battery seems that the charging indicator is not moving.
Is the battery dead?
Any info on this.
Thanks
This worked for me hope it helps
This would be the 2nd time this happened to me and this seems to do with cold and humid weather 50 °F 10°C max (1 April 2013 and 15 June 2014)
My Battery seemed dead charge bar seems stuck stayed at 38% with charger plugged in
Step 1"Quick fix" (please take this Quick with a bag of salt) you need to plug it into a PC or the tab charger plugged in half way and slow charge it while turned OFF (got me from 38% to 82%) in a few hours (48 +/- )but hey it was enough to back everything up just in case i need to send it in to Samsung for replacement battery
Step 2 Use the original charger that came with it and mine started charging no problem at all
A tech at Samsung South Africa said the battery might be drained to far (my tab was exposed to extreme cold so i blamed the cold for the drain)and this is a "SAFETY FEATURE" that gets canceled as soon as the battery recovers to a usable state and should start charging again normally
Suggestions
Clean contacts carefully with toothpick & a tiny soft pain
Only Plug charging cable in half way and leave it for a day or 2
Try a stronger charger
Try any car charger while driving to work or somewhere
Just leave it on charge and tell yourself your reconditioning the battery
I wish your tabs a speedy recovery...

You plug the charger cable into the tablet but not all the way in, if you plug it in slow-motion style you will feel the 2 hooks click into the tab STOP at this point , you will see it can still go in +/- 1.5 mm depending on if cable is original or not this is what you want.
Basically I'm asking you to do the task halfassed plug it in "like that it's kind of in there" --- This is my preferred way.---
generic cables are normally bigger and much harder it get in some plug in almost sea-saw style one side all the way in other side not in yet a.k.a it's in skew.
I have also seen it work if you plug the USB end in half way +/- (where is half way? on the bottom of the USB you will see the 2 squares the moment they aren't visible your half way)
You can try one of the 2 or both if it never starts check cable/charger.
i took a picture of both ways in one you will see the lightning bolt that it is really charging

[Q] Black screen but charging led lights up

Hi There,
Yesterday morning I went to work with a completely charged Moto G. When I arrived at work my screen was black and had become unresponsive.
The powerbutton doesn't wake up the phone, tried several times, holding it for more than 150sec. When connected to a charger (tried multipe) the charging led lights up, not blinking.
I have read on a motorola forum that this could indicate that there's insufficient power in the battery to activate the display.
However it was completely charged.
My Moto G has an unlocked bootloader, is rooted and has a custom rom (C-Rom, [ROM][AOSP][KK][12/05] **C-RoM** -4.4.2- -v6.5)
Is there anything I can try or is my phone a brick now?
Thanx in advance
The same problem
I am having the same problem too.
My moto G drained its battery until it shut down. Then i promptly went to charge it. The screen is blank and and notification light is on.
snooze1973 did u find a solution or is it now working?
PS My Moto g bootloader unlocked, stock rom, rooted and it is on the Faux123kernel
Thanks in advance
No luck Yet
No luck yet, left it on the charger for a whole night, still just the white charging led. No response to the power button.
But I refuse to believe it is completely dead. Before I had a HTC Desire S, tried many custom roms, never bricked it.
I just can't imagine what happend the day before yesterday.
Perhaps I'll try and find a more powerfull charger.

I think I found a solution. I followed these steps
1. Charge your phone via USB cable on your computer.
2. The white notification light should come on.
3. Then, do not touch any buttons on your phone.
4 The iconic Battery Logo(white background) should appear after several minutes.
Followed these steps and my phone eventually turned on
Good luck!!
Still no luck, trying a different cable (blackberry) now.
Not working for me, still just a beautiful white led indicator.
Start to think it's probably dead. Or battery thinks it's drained somehow.
Maybe anyone else has an idea?
Ok, I opened the Moto G and disconnected the battery, reconnected it after 10 sec. still no luck
Odd thing though and not very promising is that when the battery is disconnected the charging led still lights up when charger is connected.
Could this just mean that only the battery is fully drained or that the device is messed up?
Guess I going for a new one.
See if a new battery helps
Bought a new one today, so I can try and fix the other. First I will leave it for at least 24 hours.
Perhaps I will exchange the batteries at one time to see if that helps.

Black screen but charging led lights up
I am experiencing the same issue.
I bought a dead moto g for part replacement with my current moto g. Just out of curiosity, I plugged in the charger to the newly arrived moto g and observed the similar behavior.
To go further, I swapped the battery and tried to turn it on, and voila, it boots!! It has C-ROM. But it won't charge the battery any how. Its again back to
original behavior : No Screen, No Battery Charging, Only notification LED glows. I kept it on charger for whole night, but no luck.
The notification LED turns on even if I the battery is removed and charger is plugged in. What does that really mean?
Is there a probability that the charging circuit is broken? or it has something to do with bootloader, C-ROM and custom kernel? Does any one thinks reverting back to Stock ROM will help out in any way?
Same here...
Exactly the same with my little brother his Moto G 4G (1st gen) (stock rom, BL unlocked & rooted).
Solid white LED when plugged in, no other response.
The most advertised trick does not work (step 6: flashboot screen doesn't show up)
[SIZE=+1]Q28: Moto G will not power up (addition to Q16 and Q25)[/SIZE]
Plug it into the charger
Hold the VOL DOWN key
While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. This is more than two minutes and will seem like a long time. You might want to time yourself to make sure you hold it longer than two minutes.
After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.
If you have tried the above and it didn't work, try this:
Plug in the phone for 15 minutes.
Proceed to Step 2 above.

It has been an hour on the charger of my Asus T100 Tablet (5V, 2A). Still no luck...
Due to the lack of other solutions, I guess all our phones are ready for RMA...
Update: an overnight charge on a 5V 1A charger did the trick. White led was gone this morning, booted normally.

i hv been facing the same problem since past 2 days, it was working gud wen suddenly it went bad. i remember using it and putting it back into my pocket & after like 10 mins wen i tried to open it, it didn't respond. i tried to hard reset it (by pressing vol down n power button) & by forced reset but it didnt work. now, i have put it on charge on a source of 5v 1A charger. i hope it works and works well. now my question is that i remember my cell was nearly 50% charged wen all of ds happened, so i wish to know that is dre some hardware problem or dead battery problem?? thnx in advance

I think I found a solution. I followed these steps
1. Charge your phone via USB cable on your computer.
2. The white notification light should come on.
3. Then, do not touch any buttons on your phone.
4 The iconic Battery Logo(white background) should appear after several minutes.
Followed these steps and my phone eventually turned on
Good luck!!

I don't know why a USB charger and a PC connection should make any difference when the phone is not booted up.
I had the same problem. I solved it by removing the battery by opening the phone (mine was out of warranty) and taking it to repair shop where they charged the battery for an hour. Then when I put it back in, the phone rebooted normally with 10% charge.
But ever since, my battery life has deteriorated. Doesn't even last one full day. And I have had the same issue twice. I think I need a new battery.

Bought a new one today, so I can try and fix the other. First I will leave it for at least 24 hours.
Perhaps I will exchange the batteries at one time to see if that helps.

Hi There,
Yesterday morning I went to work with a completely charged Moto G.

I have a simple solution for that I have faced this issue long time ago and now I know a permanent solution. You all have usb cables in your house...just took a old one and cut it from the mini usb side..there are 4 wires...you have to care about red and black..open your moto g battery and took it off from the phone now connect the usb cable to your pc and touch the red wire to the positive and black to the negative ...just do this for 45 seconds and immediately connect the battery to the phone and connect the charger...phone will starts charging from 0 % pls do not wait to connect the switch and back cover just charge it upto 20 % the cover it up.....DO NOT LET YOUR BATTERY DRAIN MORE THAN 30% AS THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM IN LI ION BATTERIES...

Interesting, but how did you determine the negative and positive terminals on the battery flex? Can you, please, mark the attached photo of the battery of moto g to help the community?
Also, as a side note I think I discovered a solution - I connected the phone to my PC's usb 2.0 port and held the power button for 2 minutes - at which the LED blinked momentarily and then continues to shine. I left the phone connected and continued to browse for solutions to this battery charging dilemma - then about 5 minutes the LED stopped shining (and I breathed a sigh :silly: !!! becaue this is the sign of battery being charged!) and after about 30 minutes of charging I turned the phone on and it was 16% charged. Well I haven't been able to reproduce this solution (since, I have been extra cautious with the battery now!) but I would surely like to know if anyone can reproduce this solution:
1. Plug in your phone to USB 2.0 or 3.0 port with original moto g cable and confirm that the LED shines continuously.
2. Hold the power button for 2 minutes (which I discovered to be a long time if you just continuously stare at the phone!) after which you will notice that the led with blink momentarily before continuing to shine continuously. (I suggest you continue holding it for another 2 minutes after which the led will blink again momentarily)
3. Leave the power button and leave the phone attached to the port for at least 30 mins before attempting to power on.

oneplusone phone dead

So I had a extreme low battery alert, where it said cannot boot until more charge.
Stuck the charger in.
Battery wasnt going up.
Now it wont turn on at all with charger in or out.
So looks like either the battery is dead (non swappable) or the usb port is broke so isnt accepting charge.
Wow the phone is only 2 months old.
any ideas? or has to be returned for repair/exchange?
luckily was only using this phone for testing roms and stuff, not daily driver.

Try plugging into charge on a low power source via USB like a PC or laptop. Anything that isn't direct to a mains socket. It can help slowly replenish the battery, just leave it be for a while.
I just had a similar experience where my phone died overnight. Plugged it into my non OPO charger that I used with my older blackberries.
It wouldn't even turn on after 20 minutes of being plugged in. I decided to use a charger that outputted more energy and it immediately turned the phone on.
My advice, try using different charging sources.

I recently had this problem. Solved it with a simple google search which brought up O+'s own help page. Press the power button for 20 seconds 5 times in succession. This simulates a battery pull (there will be a vibration) . Now plug the phone into the original charger and leave it for a couple hours at the least.
You could also try to disconnect and connect the battery. For this you have to open the phone. Here is a little tutorial https://youtu.be/xLB4fhOyvuA
Hope this will fix the problem.
Same thing happened to my sons 1+, This is the reply form CS
Regarding your issue, please try with below steps:
1) Keep the phone for 12 hours without touching and charging...
2) Charge with official charger and usb for 6 hours(after the above mentioned steps) and then
3) Pull off the usb and put back again ... and you may get a LOW battery screen again staying for 4 / 5 mins...
4) Now don't try to boot or anything.. let it charge for 1 hour or more.
5) Now finally boot your device by pressing power button for few seconds
6) Phone should boot normally...
Trying it now

Changed battery on dead Nexus5, still doesn't work

Old: Phone was working fine at around 7% earlier today when I plugged it in to charging (worked at this time) and went-on playing Civ5 for about 40 minutes. When I grabbed it after that that screen was black and the phone was non-responsive. No charge icon when I plug it in and vol up+down + power doesn't work, nothing works , any help would be appreciated. Note that I dropped my phone into clean toilet water about 2-3 weeks ago but after vaccuming it and leaving it dry for 30 hours it worked just fine. I don't if this (battery dying?) is related to it.
I changed the battery today to a brand new and the phone still doesn't turn off. What could have possibly ****ed up inside the phone? I though maybe charging port but the phone doesn't even turn on for a bit or show any signs of survival. It doesn't even show up when I plug it in to my PC/Mac... Should I spend 10USD buying a wireless charger to test if it has to do with the charging mechanism or should I just ditch this phone...?
I have this same problem, except on some chargers it gets really hot. Otherwise same as you
I am having a similar problem. One day it shut off and it would only boot to google then go black. LG said it was an LCD connector problem and said it would be $150 to fix...i opted not to pay $150 and when i got it back it was on a previous android version 5.0 i think and it worked fine for a few days. Then i did the update that came along and it sropped working again.. wont connect to computer or turn on. Any chance it is software related? I have a new lcd on the way so i will let you know if that fixes it..
Hello, did a new LCD fix it?

Could be a charging port issue? I have a Samsung s4 that was dropped in water. When it dried, it booted but I got a weird message that said the battery temperture was too low and charging was paused. I changed the USB charging port and the phone now works perfectly without changing any other components.
