I've done some online research but I am not sure I get the full picture. From what I understand, the difference between them is mainly appearance but not much else.
Can someone please clarify this? I'm supposed to make a decision today or tomorrow at max on which watch I'll be picking up. I really like the Classic one because it looks like it can be worn with just about any outfit whereas the Frontier looks a bit more rugged, kind of like a Casio G-Shock which is more with athletic wear and stuff.
What's your recommendation and why?
Thanks!
I have the frontier and wear it with whatever I have on lol. Then again I'm not very picky about stuff and don't usually dress up

Is the Frontier, by any chance, heavier than the Classic or do they weigh exactly the same? I'm thinking of paying Samsung a visit today and see if they have both versions so I can compare, I guess it's always better to do it in person than simply from pictures. I'm not sure I'll be able to find either one in the store, though, because smart watches aren't popular at all over here.
The reason I am leaning towards the Classic is because it looks a bit like my Moto 360 2nd Gen whereas the Frontier is a different look.
Probably about the same

I've chosen the Frontier as the lower black plastic frame (same for both models) hides better with the dark color, it really stands out (for me at least...) with the Classic. Other than that, both models are really beautiful

Originally I had the S2. Funny timing it became defective and for whatever reason, tmobile replaced with a certified preowned frontier. I love the thing. Have the green and black custom band on it for now

I have the classic and the only difference is the looks of it both have the same function is you're getting the wifi on only version. The classic is nice for that I can wear it for almost anythibg and I also wear my classic for sports like running and biking just fine.

Could you elaborate on that with some pictures? I was going to pick it up today but there's a problem with my debit card so I am going to have to delay till tomorrow.
EDIT: Oh! I think I get it. You're talking about the black frame with the numbers (05, 10, 15, 20, etc.) correct?

For the Samsung gear s3 they have a wifi only version and a 4g lte version that can be used with your carrier well only certain carriers. With the 4g lte you can use the watch to answer call and use internet without a phone connection. If you never heard of this or your phone carrier doesn't support this then disregard this as the wifi version will be the one you'll be getting then where you'll need to have a phone connection to use the watch.
@zune70 thanks for explaining it. Our carriers in Egypt offer connections only using SIM cards, so I am assuming the S3, even the 4G LTE version, doesn't have a SIM card slot, right? In which case it'll be useless.

It uses an esim for gear s3 which is basically meant s the simple is built into the watch and not replaceable and your country probably doesn't support esim at the moment so this doesn't concern you right now

Have a look at this picture, I'm referring to the lower black frame, the one "in touch" with your wrist, containing the heart rate sensor, microphone and loudspeaker

Two differences:
Weight, the frontier is heavier.
And Color obviously. The Frontier is marketed as being a "adventure" style, while the classic is supposed to be more fancy looking because its shiny and silver.
Its preference really.
I went ahead and purchased the Classic version a couple of hours ago and now I just put it on the charger. Any recommendations for custom watchfaces and stuff like that? I'm used to Android Wear and downloading watch faces from websites like Facerepo and importing them using applications like Watchmaker and such, but I am guessing the process is different with Samsung Tizen.

Both facer, and Watchmaker have apps on the Gear now. So same business as usual.
Too many watchfaces. I burned a an hour of my life looking at the dizzying number of watchfaces. A lot is junk but there are some really solid efforts in there. Indeed, my go to watchface isn't stock.

The black dot is the Infrared port.
Did they give you a discount for selling you a crippled version?
You paid for a P6200/P6210 with infrared, then insist to get what you paid for and nothing less. Send it back and say you want the real version with infrared.
I agree, the IR Blaster is a great feature, but the Peel app that goes with it is pretty horrible. Are there any other apps to use with it?
I think all Tabs7+ selling in East&Southeast asia dont have infrared port. It may be cripple in your eyes, but I'm quite happy since the price is 500USD for 3G 16GB version.
Just because there are different models doesn't mean it's crippled. I'd happily rip the IR chip out of my 6210 and send it to someone who wants it if it was possible as I don't have any equipment that's so antiquated it uses IR anymore.
I am super happy with my IR Blaster as it makes me feel like the tech dude from NCIS: LA to be able to control my good old box tv.
And no, I do not believe it is bad to have a tablet without a IR Blaster.
In fact, as much as I like the IR Blaster, I don't think it is going to become a thing as many people now in days are getting the newer tvs where as mine doesn't even have a HDMI it is so old.

Cool- Thanks for letting me know!
My guess is that Peel is letting Sammy include a full version of their app without having to pay a royalty in return for locking the hardware to the app. I'd rather it was a "freemium" app and have the choice to use something else, or at least release the api to devs. Oh well, I'll check out that link you posted and see if I can throw some support on the dev!
Just purchased a P6200 sphere in Hong Kong from an authorized dealer. It does not come with an IR port and I could find no information about it coming with the port from the Samsung Hong Kong website.

GUessing they're thinking that since the Peel app is 200 times better in the US, where it pulls in info about the channels and all that sort of thing, having the IR blaster in the versions of the tab that are sold in markets where the app would only work with very basic features isn't worth it.

And that would make sense if most of our channels were different than the states. Our cable boxes are the same, and most of us aren't watching the beavertail network (although if somebody made that it would put playboy out of business). Canadians mostly watch NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN, etc...

Also to add that BB (USA) is selling their P6210 (with IR) for $300.
BB (Canada) sells their P6210 (no IR) for $350.
Exchange rate is ~ 1:1.
Higher sales tax in Canada.
(... although I did already have problems with the initial tab, and needed an exchange. I am trying to calm myself thinking that it's not worth it to save the ~$100 if you ended up having to deal with the cross-broader exchange)

Here in Thailand all P6200+P6200L sold without IR
Well I also was shocked to discover that my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus did NOT have the IR port. Mine is the EU version - bought from Expansys.
I complained and eventually spoke to someone from Samsung (who I found out is also a developer here) and it is true that the official Samsung websites are now misleading (and all the review sites!!) because apparently they are not making it any more with the IR port because of overheating problems. He promised to update the offending websites over the next few days. Lets see if it happens. The IR port control for the TV was one of the features that made me buy it and set it apart from other tablets.
I was going to send it back but then I thought none of the other tablets have such a feature so I SUPPOSE there is no point as I did get it at a reasonable £200 (for a Samsung).
I notice the UK site does not mention the IR port but with 99.9% of sites talking enthusiastically about it it is reasonable to assume that my unit would have one. Quite angry right now!!
I have a p6210 version bought in europe, does this have irda? Or only for u.s. versions.

Announced Android 5.0 said nothing unless I missed it about Android Wear.
Very disappointed.
When will we see new devices?
ASUS, LG Round, Sony Android watch were all mentioned in the past but October is over half way done.
Still only have the Gear Live and LG watch (no MOTO 360 in Canada)
While it might be reasonable to expect Google to have mentioned Android Wear 2.0 software, they are certainly not going to announce the release of a watch that is manufactured by somebody else.
Very disappointed too. No news at the moment

What? On the hardware side the LG G Watch R and the Asus Zen Watch are coming to the market this week, and on the software side Android Wear 2.0 is set to be released along side Lollipop 5.0 (set for 11-12 now), Android Wear is anything but cooling off.
That article was printed before Android Wear was even announced! I have to agree however, that before Android Wear, smart watches were all over the place - a result of them being all proprietary. Most of them would only work with certain phones even. I was very excited to see AW announced and then released because it gives all the manufacturers a common system to run. This will mean better support and people will be more inclined to try it out knowing that all the devices will work together. It's also Androids only hope of competing with the Apple Smartwatch (which I think it will do very successfully).

Isn't Android Wear proprietary? Google even stopped a start up from introducing an Android Wear device. Android and Android Wear are not handled in the same way.

It use to be that some of the watches would only work with certain phones. Like Samsung producing watches that only worked with Samsung phones. Then all the phones had different os and user experiences. This made for an extremely confusing and segmented market. Now with android wear, at least a buyer knows that a phone will work on many phones and the user experience is going to be the same.
That start up was stopped because they had not aquired the proper licenses or permission from Google to use the wear os.

What do you mean?
that means - I prefer Moto 360 for its feature than Samsung Gear S2. this is my personal opinion
I have the 3G version Gear S on Sprint and had little 'disappointed when the announcements were coming through the device to AT & T, Verizon and US Cellular, but made no mention of Sprint?
I really like 3G connectivity now have, and could not easily return to the possession of a Smart Watch it.
Samsung has a proud history
Richly presented. Poor English by some of the speakers, sometimes making it difficult to understand. The bezel is a no brainier, although I'm sure that we will see improved versions over time. I hope that the processor is up to the task, because it seems that Samsung has had a good product on their hands. There is a vibrant community of wear, and more than 10,000 circular faces of clocks, most of them for free. S2 will be able to keep up? I would like the 3G version, provided that the battery capacity is up to it, but it seems that will be available only in some markets. In addition, Samsung has a proud history of abandon and do not update their products, which makes me hesitate. The clock, however, looks much better in terms of interface than anything else out there right now.

I would be very disappointed if this is true - since this is one of the few stand out features from the standard crop of Android Wear devices. I like using the Speaker phone feature from the Gear2 Neo - since my phone is not water resistant like the watch...
Maybe there's some sort of misunderstanding between the Samsung press releases and the reviewers? It may be that Samsung is trying to emphasize that the e-sim will allow them to make calls directly instead of going through the phone - like the standard watch model?
Samsung's built in plenty of apps that you'd expect to see on a smartwatch — phone dialer, calculator, music, phone finder, etc.

So - unless they were actually looking at the pre-production HW of the 3G models... I'm still hoping that the speaker phone functionality is still there. I guess everyone will find out for sure at the beginning of October.
Another possibility is that the watch might function as the microphone and playback the caller's voice over the phone's speaker? Kinda strange way of doing things.

I looked on the best buy Canada website and it says it does NOT have a built in speaker.

Please note: I'm not trying to say that you are wrong - but at this point, it might be better to wait until the watch has been released and before making a final decision - and to make sure you buy from a store that allows returns in the event that this watch has, indeed lost the speakerphone function.

I JUMPed from the S6 edge the day they got Gold. It's pretty smexy in person.
It's beautiful. I picked one up in gold but didn't even know it was recently released haha
I got my Note 5 one day before they released the gold version. Sucks, but oh well

just got mine a day ago pretty sweet
All my phone's end up in cases anyways, I'll just tell myself mines gold, never know the difference lol.
I am having trouble deciding between buying the note 5 gold or the titanium(silver) one, they are both REALLY AWESOME looking. Although i tend to like the gold more because it is unique in a way. So any opinions please ?
I used 1 of my jump on the demand to switch. Which also got me the gifts of the season. Win win for me lol

I dunno man, when I went to get mine the other day seeing the gold in person turned me off. It looks fantastic online, but gaudy in person to me. Of course I prefer the Sapphire Black out of all the options, so maybe my opinion isn't the one to trust on this.

I have the gold S6 Edge and I think it's the best looking device to have possibly ever come out. If they would've had gold when I bought the Note 5 it would've been a no brainer for me.

The gold edge only loses the 'Most beautiful phone in the world' title to the green one. I was so bummed when I found out green wasn't going to be released in the United States.

I personally would go for the titanium silver Note 5! Dead. Sexy.
It's too bad that it's only available as the international unlocked variant ?.
When I got mine it was blue or white for options. My step-dad has a gold S6 that just looks stunning. I think they did a great job with ALL the colors on the new Samsungs. Even my black, err blue, looks great in direct light.
I waited for the Gold... loving it!
I have both the gold and the black/sapphire and I'm just loving the gold one! To me, the gold is also a LOT less of a fingerprint magnet than the other colors I've seen. Could just be my imagination, but I don't think so.
Since the U11 was released I have been waiting and hoping HTC would do a small bezel U11 and now here it is.
Passed on the Note 8, V30 and Pixel 2 XL because I really wanted to see what HTC had up its sleeve (not that i cant still go nab one of those lol) once the rumours of the U11 plus started.
But not available in North America and also not in solar red which is arguably the nicest colour the U11 comes in.
So who else is really annoyed and disappointed in this?
Sure we will be able to buy one online/ abroad in a variety of places but still no solar red!
HTC have made a very odd decision here neglecting the North American market one would think. It certainly has me rethinking going with them since they dont seem to value us as customers.
Why don't you buy it from abroad? I bought my S7 Edge on eBay from Singapore or something. No problems.

Yes of course i can do that as I mentioned in my post it just seems like an odd business decision. HTCs mobile division has been abysmal for years, you would think they would want to try devices in as many places as possible not as few places as possible.
And i cant import a solar red one since its not offered Anywhere.
sent from my Note FE
So if we do import this will it work on verizons network?
Guys just be patient.
It will be released worldwide when the time has come. In all possible colors that is.
Just wait like everybody else.
Checking on eBay regularly will help you

The main issue is that U11+
won't have all US LTE bands (like B2 for TMoUS)
probably won't support the majority of US LTE-Advanced combinations (carrier aggregation)
won't support VoLTE and WiFi Calling for US carriers

Yup, checked on the current data available on the only version (TW) of the U11+ bands supported and B2 LTE is indeed not there.... but there seems to be some positive signs that you guys might wanna get excited abt. The U11+ TW/WW version seems to support the same exact bands and are of the same exact speeds for the U11 TW/WW version; that likely means the U11+ radios are exactly the same as the U11 radios, so it is *probably* very easy for HTC to make US versions if it ever wanted to. So, keep your fingers crossed!

But it won't to avoid competing with Pixel 2 XL.

They are such idiots for not releasing it in solar red.
I'm absolutely disappointed that the two top contenders for my upgrade will not be available in the US, the Huawei Mate 10 and this device. I feel like the US is getting the short end of the stick this year.

Bro, is eBay blocked in US..?

No, I'm just waiting to see how well they work on various networks over here before committing. I've heard both work okay on AT&T but am waiting for more concrete information.

The "Neglect" Is more of HTC trying to secure profits since they are and have been a dying brand even though they release great phones. The US is full of competition that they have dealt with and not won in most of their times of releasing flagships, so instead of making a lot of phones, losing profits by not selling them or losing to Samsung and Apple (again), they rather play it safe in markets where they sell decently. I mean, we can still import the phones but until HTC captures the market, we are going to continue to not get some of their best phones. Remember this is just like the M9+ that released only in India but was superior to the regular m9 and everybody (including me) complained about it lol.

I figured it was blocked forcibly by Google, since it waa being designed as the Pixel 2 Xl before Google (unwisely) scrapped it. I assumed they signed a non-compete agreement. Hopefully just temporarily. Can always just order online . Pretty pricey though.
