I've bought a note 5 a couple weeks ago and it always take somewhere around 5 hours to charge to full from 1-8%. I got suspicious last night when I bought an anker qc3.0 car charger and a Samsung adaptive fast charger car charger and they didnt charge any faster. I've ran ampere and accubattery to see what the current was and it's not getting above 460mA no matter the charger. It's not the cable, I have a few good cables that all push 3A+ on other devices. I have deleted the cache partition and tried charging in safe mode and with the phone off but doesn't get any faster. Please someone help me figure this out. It's stock firmware on android 5.1.1. Thanks

Where did you buy the phone from? Are you sure you didn't purchase a fake phone? Can you go into settings then about phone and tell me what the baseband is? And if possible include a picture of the front of the phone while the screen is off.
Bought it from a guy that had upgraded his and his wife's phones. Baseband version is N920VVRU2A0J3.

Bought from a guy that had upgraded his wife's phone. Baseband is N920VVRU2AOJ3. At work right now and can't get a picture of the phone as I don't have another phone to take a picture with, if you still need one I'll try to get one when I get home later but then how do I post it?
This is one he sent me before I bought it

The phone looks fine and it's real but with the way it's charging I suspect it needs a new internal battery.
You don't suspect the charging circuit? AccuBattery does say estimated capacity is only around 2700mAh. How hard is it to replace the battery in these?

It requires you to heat the back up with a heat gun and I've done it many times but I would say in all honesty I've broken the damn glass back a few times because I consider them fragile pos! But have you gone into settings and then battery and checked to see if "Fast cable charging" is ticked on?
For some reason I don't have that option. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2FRrk7uXonBcWVjMC1zU09oVUE

I can give you a program called odin that's made to flash firmware updates to the phone but you have to download the firmware and the odin program and enable OEM unlock in developer options.. Click this link below and read my instructions . Just substitute the N920VVRU2AOJ3 firmware for the second link below.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve.../downgrade-to-lollipop-5-1-1-verizon-t3368250
And I would recommend that you try this firmware but do not go any higher or you will NEVER EVER be able to downgrade back to Lollipop.. The firmware version in this link below is for upgrading to Marshmallow 6.0 and you can downgrade back to lollipop if you don't like Marshmallow but don't flash nothing higher than this one or you will only be able to use Marshmallow or Nougat and nothing else... Link to the Marshmallow firmware below .. Make sure you extract it ONE time after you download it so you see .tar.md5 at the end of the file name and then you can put the phone in download mode and flash the firmware with odin.

Well, no computer is recognizing the usb device. I've installed the samsung drivers and still no luck. I've updated the usb hub drivers and chipset and no luck. This is beginning to annoy me. I think I want to punch the guy in the face for selling me a phone with a fked up usb port. Any other ideas on how to get it to recognize? Thanks again for all the help on this.

Well you just figured out why it's not working right then.. Now you're definitely going to have to remove the back of the glass and replace the charging port I could do it but you'd have to send the phone otherwise you need to buy something to heat the back up but don't heat it so much that it burns it and destroys it! There's charging ports available to buy on Amazon and Ebay.. You need to be really careful with it because the ribbons will tear like they're wet paper that's how easy it is to break it!
It looks like this.
replacement usb port Amazon
Also try using a magnifying glass to look at the pins inside your usb port and if they're bent try to straighten them.

Sigh.... sure wish it was just some screws, damn you samsung LOL. I've replaced motherboards and screens on other phones but that was easy take the back off and remove some screws lol. I'll see if I can get it done reasonably around here, how much should this repair cost me so I know what to expect and if I should just look for another phone. Thanks again for the help, I'll see if I can find a magnifying glass to look at the port too.
Also, might as well replace the battery while I'm in there, any brands that you would recommend? I see 50 million brands and don't want to get a crap one.

I would recommend that you find a seller that sells brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 batteries and get the SAME 3000 mah simply because there's so many people selling fake batteries that are like 2000mah and only last for like 2 hours versus Samsungs 6 to 8 hours.. What the fake sellers do is put a piece of plastic inside with a 2000mah battery and then wrap it with a real Samsung battery logo so you think it's real but it's not you should watch this YouTube video and get the battery from this guy
YouTube video link Fake VS real Samsung battery
Samsung battery from here Samsung parts
Paying a store around you to do it expect to pay anywhere between 175 to 250. If you can do it yourself it's less than 50.

I've Owned my S2 LTE I727R for 3 months now, but I've had a serious issue that recently came up.
Whenever I plug my phone in to the Original Charger, I smell a plastic burning smell and it does not charge (plugging into a laptop yields similar results). A quick search indicates that the phone would need to be warrantied/RMA-ed.
My problem is I am rooted, using Sky-Ics RC 6.75 ROM. I am concerned (should i be?) that my modifcation of the phone would void warranty, so I would like to revert it back to stock. The thread in the development forum indicates a usb connection to the phone is neccesary for stock rom revert. Is there a work around for this?
My battery is also currently dead, so to even attempt a revert to stock, I would need to be an external battery charger.
Advice would be much appreciated, I hope I'm not holding 500 dollars of plastic...
the usb port daughterboard only costs $10 to replace. Mine originally came with a rev 4.5 board but i bought about 5 replacements that are rev 4.1 and they work fine in my skyrocket.

Thanks for the quick response. I did take a look around and couldn't find anything regarding the instructions to replacing the "usb port daughterboard".
As for the actual part, does the REV matter? The ones on ebay appear to be oem or Rev 0.1?

doesn't say specifically for your needs but it is a full tear down.
Hope this helps
if u just decide to email it, simply use any free FTP server from the market and connect it to ur wifi. Upload a stockish looking rom to ur phone and then flash it with cwm. This should work for ur purposes
gounlock.com sells the small daughterboard with the USB port.they carry the different revisions but they just don't have the rev 4.5. They do have the rev 4.1 board on page 2 of the i727 stuff. That's where I've ordered my parts from.

Personally, if I buy a $600 phone and I so much as even SUSPECT that something is broken, so I don't waste my time trying to fix it. Call the carrier and ask for a new one, I have warranty and I use it.

Sorry I failed to even respond to you and just commented. You have a micro sd card? Load up any i9100 ROM on it. Goto CWM and flash to brick. Head over to the closest rogers PLUS store and go WTF!!!!!
They will ask you, what did you do? Nothing. I was sleeping and when I woke up. It was dead. I don't know what happened.
Your replacement phone will arrive via courier within a week. The only cost endured in this ordeal will be the extra battery that you have to buy or the external charger that you have to buy. Or you can even goto someone else that has a I727R and do it right there.

Thanks for all the comments. Wanted to update.
I got recommended to a cell repair shop; called them and ordered the part - they replaced it in front of me. He wasn't the most cautious with the phone, but lets chalk that up to familiarity with dissembly (lol).
kr3w1337, that was my last resort option. I couldn't survive a week without my phone! Hopefully this replacement won't come to bite me later.

I'd still brick it and ask for a new phone at this point since the one you have has been violated ...
so, i've been researching this all night and i want to get a straightforward answer. is there any way i can root my S3 without using the USB port? the port is busted and doesn't detect anything being plugged in (i have 3 batteries and an external charger, since it won't charge)
basically, i'm coming across some posts from the S2 explaining that you could root that one by simply flashing some SU files etc in recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794
can any of this be done with the S3? i was looking into wireless ADB as well, but you def. need root for that, despite the fact i also found someone on the S2 forums who apparnetly had wireless ADB working without root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371326
i have no idea how he did it, because i def can't.
any thoughts? i'd love to root this thing and just keep it stock (just delete bloatware and make tweaks to stop the launcher redraw) and that's it..not even looking to throw custom roms on it yet.
Honestly I think you are SOL for the time being
well that's not good cmon con, i know you can figure something out lol
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2
I was able to root by flashing an SU zip in CWM. However I was only able to flash CWM thanks to Casual. It wouldn't root me. But did let me install cWM. From there I booted into recovery and was rooted in seconds. With no USB though that makes things tricky. Not sure how you could get CWM on there then. I was able to root my Droid x purely using terminal emulator on the phone and pushing files from the SD card. But that was years ago and i think rooting is a bit different now since it looks like it gets symlinked.

Why don't you just get the phone replace as it is obviously defective?
First remove your battery and you may try to clean your usb plug on your phone by take a toothpick, needle etc.. and wrap a little piece of paper towel around it, soak with Windex or alcohol and scrub all the pins inside of the USB. This works wonder! second recommendation is to try another usb cable. Good luck.

Samsung would still fix it. I wouldn't live with it like that but to each his own
thanks for the responses guys! a few answers:
1.) i literally got this phone for $30 from a customer at my store who ruined it due to said tittysweat. no lie, the woman ran with it in her shirt, and sweat corroded the charge port. i SOMEHWAT fixed it with alch and Deoxit weeks ago, and it would BARELY charge (like maybe half a percent every 3 hours..ridiculous lol) but then after further cleaning, it completely died and doesn't work now.
2.) i've never once had insurance on my lines in all my 16 years with verizon, so i'm not adding it to make a claim, because it's gonna look fishy especially if they see 3 different phones on my acct within weeks
3.) has two TINY cracks in the corners of the phone screen, so i couldn't even get it replaced due to that as well
when i would plug it in when it barely charged, it would go between charging (ac) and just charging. so it was def messed up. i opened up the back to look at it, but i didn't take the entire phone apart yet.
i've got a replacement charge port (was 5 bucks on ebay), problem is i don't have a hot air soldering iron so i can't do it myself and don't have any repair guys near me.
just looking for basic ways to get rooted w/o having the usb port, but it seems to be futile
also for samsung to fix it, the turn around is like 2-4 weeks and i'm sure costs an arm and a leg..whereas i have a few members on here who i could send to and would cost less, and it would take a lot less time than samsung lol

testing this device :
http://en.001phone.cn/product-no-1-m2-rugged-phone-98.html
MTK6582,1.3GHz,android 4.4.4 (update to lollipop will come), ROM 8GB, RAM 1GB, Screen 4.5" qHD 960*540, declared as IP68, support 3G not lte, street price more o less 100 $.
Some issues with storage : only 1 gb disposable for apps. It can easily be rooted with iroot (success at first attempt). Then you can use link2sd.
For the moment very satisfied by the device,of course evaluating performances you should always consider that this is a rugged phone, at the same price it is possible to buy an octa core with 2 gb of ram not ip 68.
cannot confirm,,,,
Bought the phone...looks nice....very fluid.....for 100 euros looks great....oh well only one GB for apps...fixed it with link2sd.....
yet.....disassembled it .....to give a look....it may be "rugged"...but it is poorly built....component are not properly fixe and one cable just detached from some jumper....still have to re-weld it....
by the way.....anybody would help me with a pic ...to understand where to fix the cable..!?
thanks a lot!
Maybe if you take a picture I can download the picture, mark the spot and send it back to you? Also looks legit for the price tho, ( 93,99$ ) Could be sold for more I guess....
take a look...

Found on this site the link for a lollipop rom :

still have not tested it, but in the rar file I've found the driver, flashing tool and new firmware, so it looks affordable. I would like to know where the linked site found it in order to find some information before flashing.
Where does that cable belong?
My phone will only boot to logo when charging and says minimal battery, when it was around 70% last time it functioned. I found someone said they flicked the switch that this short cable is attached to and it solved it. Would be very appreciative of a reply, I've only had it two weeks.

Hi, i have a problem with my new No. 1 m2 rugged smartphone.
I have it for 2 days now, and my battery drained, now it won't turn on even with charger, i've charged it for one hour, maybe a bit more, and still nothing happens.
Any tips are welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
I got this phone from my brother, he was tired of it. Looked at their website and found a firmware to it from nov 07 2015, works alright and i managed to root it with kingroot (not kingoroot). but still havent found any good way to get a cwm or twrp.

NOTHING !! So, I plug it in... NOTHING !! I'm talkin' NO LEDs, no charging indicator, no NOTHIN' !! Can't access recovery or bootloader. I believe it to be a hardware issue, whether battery or some board, idk. So, what do you all think? Replace the battery? And, If it is dead, I'm out of luck !! Because, I have a good amount of research that I hadn't backed up yet. Btw, I'm no slouch, so I've tried every button combo, etc. Neither, do I believe it to be an internal power button issue.
Running rooted stock 6.0.1 MMB29K, stock recovery, franco.Kernel r79, SuperSU 2.66-BETA
Thanks !!
Mod Edit: please don't bypass swear filters
I suggest charging the phone using the original cable and charger that came with the phone. Leave it on the charger for about an hour to see what happens.
Yes, it could be the battery but it could also be something else. I assume you don't have another Nexus 5 to test it with.
Try to disconnect and reconnect the battery's wire. I had a similar problem and it was solved by doing so .

I've tried this, and unresponsive. And, you have assumed correctly. lol Also, I've only used the OEM cable & charger (aside from the occasional alternatives out & about i.e. friend's charger, g/f's, etc.).

By this, do you mean the long L-shaped one? Or, the smaller connection at the top of the battery? Because, I had disconnected & reconnected the ribbon, but never removed the battery, as I lack that li'l blue tool in the iFixit video.
Well, the battery will be the cheapest unless you can quickly score a used N5 with a damaged screen and working internals.

The small connector not the long L shaped. I think the L shaped is for the speaker and some other components in the bottom of the phone and not related to the battery.
You don't need the blue tool to remove the battery. Just heat the battery with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive. Then, take a a flat blade and gently slide it between the battery and frame. Slide and gently pry the battery away from the frame. I have done this several times on N5s and never had a problem.

Thanks, everyone. I'll give it a shot in few, & report back...
Ok. So, I had gone ahead and disconnected & reconnected the battery connector to no avail. :\ (Why do bad things happen to kinda sorta, in a way relatively good people like myself?.. smh) Any other advice?..
So, I'd decided to stop being a cheap BASTARD and ordered a "Genuine OEM Google Nexus 5 LG D820 D821 2300mAh Battery BL-T9 3.8V 8.74Wh" on amazon, sold by YDT Parts for $6.49 (Free Shipping from California) if anyone else is interested. I'll post results after installation, just-in-case anyway else finds themselves in my predicament...
That price is really good for a genuine oem battery compared to prices from etradesupply.

I KNOW, RIGHT !? Hopefully, all that I have is a dead battery. Guess I'll see soon enough. Now, if only there were a way to get a fingerprint reader on this device, I wouldn't update till the N5's no longer updated. (What's the official term for that, anyway? Not EoL, is it?..)
Let's hope it is genuine. I bought one from Aliexpress that looked just like an original but people said it is not an original because the temperature would not go above 29c. I don't know if it is original but it's works fine.
Well, got the battery and NOTHiNG !! So, idk, maybe my N5's just dead. But, the supplier might as well have been from China - Typos, terrible English, the whole 9... Also, my OEM battery's by Sony, but this one says Samsung, so who knows?.. :: shrugs:: I don't trust these companies anymore. Thanks for y'all's input, though.
So not LEDs, no vibration, nothing?
If you have access to a Windows computer, connect the phone to the computer. Does anything appear in device manager?

Nope. NOTHiNG !! Its fine, though. My g/f'd given me her VZW HTC One (M7). So, that'll haveta do till I get my next Nexus (which'll be either a 5X or Google's 2016 offering, if I like the direction the rumors go in...). So, now... OFF to the M7 boards !! Godspeed, everyone ! Godspeed. lol
Anyone had issues with the phone charger?
My girlfriend is using an S7 and she has a lot of problems with the charger. Phone is not rooted or any custom ROM. Just stock. I replaced the chargers twice until now. The first one took almost a year to break. This one took like 6 months or so.. Has anyone encountered this type of issue before? All the chargers are taken directly from Samsung.
Charger starts to show signs of malfunction when it's missing the fast charge option or not charging at all. Then it returns to normal. Then in a matter of days the charger is not working anymore.
Phone variant is G930F. I'll attach a screen of Ampere after the last "charging" with the broken charger. It took the print screen after a minute or so. It's hard to keep a girl away from her phone.
P.S. Charger is 100% broken as I'm not able to charge my phone with it, so I just want to know if this is a phone issue or a voltage issue.
Sounds more likely that the phone is damaging the chargers vs you constantly getting bad charger replacements
Had mine a year now with no signs of problems and fast charging still working fine

Yeah thought about the same thing. But I don't really understand how this is happening.

Unless there's a problem with your mains power socket you use for charging mostly / house electrics?

Yeah that is my first guess. I bought a new charger and I'll ask her to use another place to charge her phone.
Thanks for the help!

You should bring it to the service center, and they will check the port for you. Thing is, the port might be bad, and for this reason it kills all the chargers you buy as a replacement. A sign of this if the charger cable gets very hot on the end closer to the port. I mean the micro usb plug itself. But thats one thing, if it isn't happening, the port could still be broken. You should go see if the port is fine. If it is, then I suspect it as a voltage issue in the house, or something. So worth checking that too. Hope you still have a guarantee on the phone. Because then they supposed to fix it no cost. You sholud try if data transfer is working through cable. If not then it shows again, port issue. If you don't want to to use the phone connected to a PC, or otherwise an easy solution could be buying a wireless charger. So then you didn't fixed the port, but the phone will be charging. But first make sure it's not the houses voltage problem, or the wallplug, because if it is, then it can ruin your wireless charger too.
Thats all I can help. Hope it helps.
Regards, and Good Luck fixing it!

Any idea on how can I discretely check the voltage? Me and her are not living together.

Well thats not an easy one. But I don't really think that's the issue here. If she isn't living in an old house, then there is very little chance of a problem with the curcits. You should ask her if she had any random power breaks or such things in her house. Or light bulbs going wrong too fast. But as I said, I don't think thats the problem. It will be the port, I just mentioned the voltage as a possibility, and the thing what you should keep in mind.
So I suggest Her buying a wireless charger, as her phone is an S7, she can do that. But if I were in her situation I would bring it for a check to Samsung, or wherever she bought the phone (ofcourse if she still has a guarantee as I mentioned earlier). To tell the truth, as I see the problem is with the port, and depending on what you said, I don't think a home solution or buying another charger would be enough in this case.
That's why I mentioned trying wireless charging, because thats not using the port. I hope she can get the problem fixed soon. Poor girl without a phone...

Yeah, I would've sent it to warranty if she had any. She doesn't know much about phones so I feel responsible with this matter.
I think wireless charger is the best solution.

Yeah I think so too. And you know. There is the swag in that She can show to friends like: "Look my phone is charging without plugged in" or something like that.
Hope that really will help Make sure to send feedback if you fixed it somehow. I'm now planning to buy an S7, so I hope this is a one-of-a-kind problem.
Anyways Good luck really. If she buys a wireless charger make sure she is buying an original Samsung one, because that has fast charge included, and it will sure not ruin the phone.
I'm the one buying stuff here. Haha. Not interested in second hand/fake/refurbished phones.
She got the phone unsealed with "one hour use before" from a local "dealer". I don't approve this and I don't trust him. Apparently he's a good friend with some of her family's friends.
Still returning a phone after one hour of use is not something someone would do if it was working ok. He told me the other user loves Apple more.
Even though i think the other user didn't notice the voltage issue, as it took almost a year for me, until the first charger broke down.
But i prefer sealed products. Even though they don't have warranty as I flash a lot of stuff.
I'm also interested in buying an S7. I have been for the past year. But unfortunately I had to support my mom with some "donations". It's a damn good phone.
Will write here once I manage to get the Wireless Charger. Thank you for your help.

Okay so hi again! Just a quick update here. Maybe if someone reads later. So I was watching this video for fun:
There is a part of the video where he disconnects the battery. He clearly says that the micro-usb port and the wireless charging part is connected with a different cable. Thus the wireless charging still works, even if the port is broke.
I thought it was good to mention this, I was sure about this before, but here you can see clear confirmation on it. The part in question is somewhere in the middle of the video.
So if you manage to screw up your port, wireless charging will be still functional for sure!
Hope I could help!
