I failed rooting my moto g device so i want to relock the bootloader. Or is it ok to leave it unlocked?
I tried many ways but i didn't make it. Can you help me?
Best regards,
Vlasis
Leave it unlocked. There is no advantage over a locked bootloader after you already unlocked it.
Yeap leave it unlocked and to the sad point is till date no latest firmware has been released by motorola ...and the firmware available in forum is older and u might have updated the April security patch as well so u have to wait cz if u try to relock the booloader again it will give u preflash validation error .... So in short leave it unlocked:angel:

How did you fail rooting? It is actually quite easy and safe with the MOTO G3

Hey Guys, I decide to unlock the bootloader and root my Moto G so i start to read about it and preparing everything to do it in my pc (drivers, etc)
But when i start to read de Resource Guide Thread in the General forum i read something that confuse me specifically in the Root part that says:
"If you do not have or do not wish to unlock your bootloader then you can opt for @oasoas014 's method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583652 ) of bootloader downgrade. You may also visit @Cooptx's more detailed guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2585755 ) . Note, with the most recent recoveries, you do not need to downgrade your bootload"
But reading the @Cooptx's method says that need unlock bootloader, i really dont understand the @oasoas014 's method but reading all the comments says also that i need unlock bootloader.
So im kinda confuse here, is that im not reading well? or i just need to unlock it? someone can give me a strait answer?
You must unlock bootloader if you want root, there is not other solution for moto g atm. Maybe in future there will be an exploit to root bypassing bootloader like on moto x but not now.
Thanks you, the info is kinda confuse, im gonna put me in to work. Hope eveything goes well

It's not that much work and Motorola makes it really easy to unlock the bootloader If you still need some help or run into trouble let us know!
hey
i tried to unlock bootloader via motorola web site but it says my device does not qualify for unlocking
tried flashing recoveries, root zips and updated to official kitkat, but still does not work
phoned motorola support and they said motorola doesn't guarantee bootloaded getting unlocked, it depends on luck
any suggestion?

Lol, you need to replace "<unlock key>" with the code that motorola sent you via email. "fastboot oem unlock UNLOCKCODEHERE"

Yes I know that. To post the question here, I just replaced original unlock key with "<unlock key>".
It seems like I am the only person facing this issue.
I am thinking of trying following options. Please let me know, if anything will lead to brick my device.
1. I will factory reset my device and try unlocking bootloader.
OR,
2. Currently my device is running stock android 4.4.4 without root and locked bootloader. Can I downgrade to stock android 4.4.2 by flashing the stock firmware? then try for unlocking bootloader.
My Device is XT1033. Please let me know any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Factory resetting will not help! I did that too. I have the same issue. I'm thinking of downgrading my OS. But not sure if that will work.
You are not the only one having this issue and Motorola has responded to this issue:

Yes i was using kingroot without an unlocked bootloader. Idiotic really. Do you have any solutions ?
Just see this thread, -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3369939
Another user had the same problem. The only difference in your case would be your firmware (XT abcd 1/2gb) and no. of sparsechunk files present (must flash them all).

Won't help. You get a code from Motorola. You have to give them your phone's IMEI when you request the code. So, they have your phone on record as being unlocked.
Locking back still shows in bootloader that it once unlocked ("Status code 2/Software modified" on the bootloader screen) and they have your records. Forget the warranty.

Sunshine is for the XT1254, not the sibling Quarks XT1225 or XT1250. You would have to go ask Sunshine team if it can work on another Quark. I'm not sure they would even have tested it on another Quark as those have free bootloader unlock.
Are you sure you even have a warranty? Is your phone brand new, straight out of the box -- or did you buy it used? The warranty only applies to the original buyer in most cases and only for a specific amount of time after purchase.
Usually, you will know in the first month if something is wrong with the phone, that was the manufacturer's fault. So, I just don't worry about that. Rooting and custom ROM give so much value.

Hii ChazzMatt,
Yes it's brand-new just out of the box. I actually want Xposed to work on my device....coz Xposed gives so much value even to the stock roms. I'm planning to root the phone using KingRoot...but I'm concerned about how to install Xposed without Custom Recovery.
And is there any way to enable Volte for this device....as I guess our Snapdragon 805 supports Volte.

I have the 1250 on Verizon and the only way I have been able to utilize Volte is to flash a stock Droid Turbo 1254 firmware or use ComputerFreek's rom. The latest version of both of those are 5.1 lollipop.
None of the custom 6.0 Marshmallow roms that are available on the Moto Maxx / Droid Turbo forums have Volte available, yet.

On this device, no root process will work without an unlocked bootloader -- as far as I know. You will get temp root but not be able to write to system. You can only get permanent root on this device with an unlocked bootloader.

Can we request Motorola to atleast provide a patch

You people are foolish even more than me. I wanna abuse you but can't.
If your device shows Bootloader status unlocked allowed 'yes'
Then goto unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com
And select device modle and enter emi number and fu+k yourself and get an unlock code.
And use experifirm to flash any regions firmware even global too.

Please keep your temperament low, Mister.
And thank you for "misguiding" people. I unlocked bootloader, downloaded a ton of roms and none would flash. Each one of them results in errors. Downloaded any custom roms available, most go into bootloop while some wont install even.
Relocked bootloader and still wont install OTAs so I am stuck with stock MM with no possibility of getting Nougat because on SO-01H Nougat update is OTA only and there is no FTF available anywhere.
Thanks again. And please dont swear on public forums.

Thats OK.
I have no idea what jeffal jetwari is, but rest assured your advice was acted upon and it made me lose too many hours trying to fix it. No ftf's for other variants work, not even the global version, no custom roms work and there is really not much of a benefit having unlocked the bootloader. So please only advise on something you have experienced personally.
