Is MediaCodec.PARAMETER_KEY_VIDEO_BITRATE works properly with Pixel? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Is there anyone that managed to use MediaCodec.PARAMETER_KEY_VIDEO_BITRATE without any issues by any chances?
If I set, on the fly, a new bitrate - let say 3 mbps (~3000000 bps) - the bitrate will indeed change, but to a very low bitrate like 500 kbps (and no, I did not make a mistake in unit conversion). And then, if I change it another time in the same session to - let say 2.5mbps - then the encoder honor my request that second time.
I wonder if that is a Qualcomm Snapdragon issue because I have the same issue with a Zenfone 2. However, the same code perform without any issues on a Galaxy S6 (Exynos 7420).
Anyway, any feedback would be appreciated.
cheers

[Q] Sleep function not working

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening,
I recently purchased a 32 gig Transformer running stock 3.2 on a B60 serial number (so a newer model).
Kernel 2.6.36.3
Build # HTJ85b.US_epad-8.6.5.6-20110726
I am showing no updates available for download
I use an additional 16 gig micro sd card that I keep in the system pretty much all the time.
Under settings>Screen>Timeout - It is set to 1 minute
With that information here are my 2 dilema's.
Firstly my tablet does not always sleep after 1 minute. While I understand some apps have the power to override your tablets sleep state, it seems like this is happening with apps that should not have that power (minor segue can someone recommend a good app that allows me to overide granted permissions?).
For instance, Settings times out ok, but the stock camera does not. Since both are stock programs I would assume they would behave the same. I understand I could simply factory reset assuming it was simply some errors in the OS code, but am wondering if this has happened to others and what they did to fix this issue.
Also reference the HD 720 video playback issue, has anyone found a full fledged fix for this issue? I don't know if I am alone in this but I can get 30 fps on youtube but on any website that imbeds youtube videos will not play in HD without extreme video lag (about 2 frames a minute .. literally).
For instance can anyone watch this Drakkenstrike video in that websites url without having to recopy the video into youtubes website or app?
Thank you again for all your help

[Oreo] Bluetooth Audio settings in Developer options don't stick.

So I've recently updated to the current oreo Beta on my MHA-L29 and I'm facing issues with the Bluetooth audio codec selection. Regardless of what device I connect, Android always switches to the lowest possible settings aka 44. 1kHz streaming and 16bit sample after stopping/starting audio (its enough for a song to end and a new one to start to reset those) now visually the settings don't actually change at all as long as a Bluetooth device is connected, so even if I change to 96kHz the option displays 44.1kHz, however the change in sound quality is definitely noticeable since 44.1kHz has atrocious artifacts on any higher note.
Now my question would be if this is beta related, a general oreo bug or If anyone actually has an idea on how to fix this issue.
Build number: 8.0.0.361(C432)
Bumping this since I still haven't found a fix and maybe someone else has the same issue.
Having the same issue on a Mate 10 Pro, seems to be an Android 8 related problem.
Same issue here.. but bluetooth does work well
Having the same issue, do you think they will fix it?
Updated to .363 today and unfortunately the issue still persists, i am actually starting to get worried now that it will take quite a while for this to be fixxed, if it is adressed at all.
I'm having this issue as well and this is absolutely atrocious.
Ever since I upgraded to android 8 my bluetooth audio sounds like crap. There is very noticable overall hissing and lots of cracking (most noticeably on drums in music).
I also tried digging in the developer options but nothing will stick, this is the first and last time I ever bought a Huawei product.

Im pretty sure Huawei is not to blame for this, since i've seen reports from other phones aswell having the same problem, i believe its an Oreo problem in general that adds ontop of the other bluetooth connectivity issues.
Ran into the same issue myself. Unacceptable audio quality reduction since Oreo update a few days ago. Rolling back to Nougat for now. Based on what I could find, seems to be just as much Google's fault. I really don't like what they did with the notifications either. The app running in the back round is just plain annoying since you can't turn it off.

Is your Bluetooth turned off while you changing the setting. I think bluetooth need to be turned off if you want setting to stick. I tried my phone and it is keeping the setting

I couldnt care less about who's to blame, its unacceptable Huawei pushed this update through with such a major bug in it. If they couldnt fix developer settings not sticking, the least they could've done is make people aware of this issue when they offered the update. I use my phone for music A LOT and if I had known this in advance I would have never updated in the first place. Now im stuck with this crappy audio quality on a phone I paid 655 euros for.
Welp, that's what you get for not waiting around for bug reports I guess....
Does anyone here know if there is a safe way to downgrade back to Nougat without voiding your warranty? I know how to root etc. but I dont feel like totally breaking open my phone again, I got out of that world a while back because I wanted to avoid this crucial stuff not working the way it should stuff. If there is no other way Ill void my warranty but I'm seeing lots of different guides on here and none of them seem that professionally made so I'm kinda on the fence

Fair enough point. You can downgrade safely via the Huawei pc application, just choose update and it should give you the option to downgrade. It will however most likely factory reset your phone so I'd advise you create a backup first.

I downloaded the HiSuite app and there is no downgrade option anywhere.
Edit: Windows 10 antivirus says the downloaded .exe from the official Huawei website is a virus, anyone else have this?
Hello. I've been playing around with the Bluetooth settings and I've found out that while playing Spotify through BT, if I change the kHz to 48 or higher the sound is actually getting better! Although the setting isn't sticking or showing, I'm getting way better sound choosing 48 kHz or better after I press play. Maybe just my phone, but try it out if you're experiencing bad quality BT sound!
Thanks. Will try the 48k sound mode out
I was having this problem with my P20 Pro and Sony WH1000XM2s. Turns out you can get the aptx HD codec and 24bits setting to stick if you select 'Priority on Sound Quality' within Sony's Headphones app. Sample rate is still stuck on 44.1khz however.
Edit: Just turned off bluetooth and set sample rate to 96khz, turned bt back on and it's sticking!

Volume Issue in the Netherlands, help please

Hi you all,
So I have a Samsung Galaxy S6, a time ago the European Union rolled out a protocol that all mobile devices and mp3 players will be restricted to a maximum of 80 dB..
Does anyone know how to bypass this, we got it through a software update, ever since then my sound quality is so bad and low.. i would love a Fix for it to have the volume much higher, atleast higher then 80 dB
even when using headphones with 17 oHm, 112 dB and 17 to 20 Khz it still is to low.. cause it is restricted to 80 dB ( sounds much lower tbh)
In the phone settings there is no three dot settings for the volume output since they removed it..
I hope someone can help me!
Kind Regards,
EchoD

WiFi high latency and/or frame drop?

Hi,
I'm trying to make my Samsung Gear360 2016 camera (https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/gear-360-2016) work with my OP6 128GB/8GB updated to the latest 5.1.9 stock OS and rooted with Magisk.
I'm using a modified application (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-samsung-gear-360-manager-device-t3400383) that makes the Samsung-only 360 camera available to any other relatively powerful Android phone. This camera was one of the motives behind me buying my new OP6.
I've tested the camera with older phones, including Blackberry Priv, Samsung S5 and LG G4 and all of them can display a live view at a useable frame rate.
Unfortunately, there seems to be some issues regarding the WiFi on the OP6 (I don't think the processing power is not sufficient enough for the camera which requires a phone at least as powerful as an Samsung S5).
I've tried connecting through the camera via the access point the camera creates, and also via WiFi direct.
WiFi direct yield a frame rate at the order of 0.5fps, with a burst of 20fps every 20sec or so, and a latency of around 3sec. WiFi AP is completely unusable, as it yields a frame rate of 0.1fps and over 10sec latency (!).
This behaviour gives the impression that the network may be the culprit here. As such, I've flashed other kernels, including blu_spark (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/kernel-t3800965) and flash kernel (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/op6-flash-kernel-1-00-t3801652) both of which allow the modification of the TCP congestion algorithm (via Kernel Adiutor: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor&hl=ro). When I change from the default Westwood to for example Reno, the live view springs back to life and the frame rate shoots to ~20fps, albeit for a short time (in bursts of ~5sec every ~10sec), while in the rest of time the view is still frozen at 0.1fps.
The same behaviour is present on a stock nonrooted OP5 with the latest updates.
At the moment I have no more ideas to try to make it work. What else can I modify on the phone that may affect the network functionality?
Thank you!
Maybe remove encryption ? . . ( full backup first ! )

I'll try and remove the encryption and/or install a custom OS.

LeMax 3 x850 - SLOW and Whatsapp issues - going nuts.

Hi all, please help.
I just purchased a Leeco Le Max3 x850 and I'm super disappointed. Apart from the mobile being way too slow (it's meant to be a 6GB RAM), my main issue are whatsapp voice messages. It's not a matter of sound - the problem is that when I try to play them, it's like it can't download them fast enough (hard to explain) - a 3 second voice message takes hours to complete and at no point do I hear sound. Whatsapp videos work fine, and i can also SEND voice messages without problems. I'm going mad - any solutions please? MY EUI is 6.0.617T - this is the only major difference between this new phone and my old Le Max 2.
THANK YOU
Sarah, Malta Europe
