lucky you!
Your one lucky guy to be able to experience my next dream phone! Hope you can update us further on your day to day usage with regards to camera quality if there are any issues, also is the screen experiencing black clippings when playing movies with a lot of dark shots like Harry Potter, etc... :good:
Hey kababayan! I've been following your techpinas updates. Any news on the pricing and release dates here in the philippines? Thanks!

How's responsiveness?
Preparing to replace my Note with either this or the Z1.
Just wondering:
1.) How is lag and hangs on the Note3? Did any show up while you are using it? Preferably while you are doing the benchmark or under heavy load.
2.) How about accuracy of the screen? The note is off by a few pixels how about this? I think this was well documented problem on the note, I'll describe it if you are not familiar with it.
3.) Touch responsiveness? The note is slow on the lockscreen when you have pin lock. Try something like 160425 as your pin (no that is not my pin, I just randomly chose a 6 digit that can take advantage of both thumbs so you can press them very fast one after the other with preferably 1-2ms lag between each press), then press them 1 after the other very fast preferably on 2handed use. A lot of the times 1 of them won't register or will register wrong for the Note1. How about the Note3?
I'm a bit of a power user and the lag on the Note is annoying and is still laggy even after being rooted and flashed with slim bean. Just wanted to hear your take on the note3. As this might be the tie breaker for me.
I'm very disappointed with the Note (I wanted to throw it away after 6months of use but is under a 2yrs contract so... yeah) Mostly with TW and the screen, I even have ghost presses on the screen (luckily it was replaced while in warranty). So kinda want to stay away from sammy this round but between the Note3 and the Z1, the Note3 has the advantage of 3gb ram and 32gb storage (I'm on smart and I'm sure they will only have this version) on the hardware side and sammy usually have the bootloader unlocked, I expect this one to be the same while the Z1 will have it locked and I will lose a lot of the built-in features for unlocking it. But the lag on my Note is a big downer for getting another sammy that I'm willing to fore go the advantage of sammy for sony.
Thanks =)

Most probably your correct on the estimated launch price as Samsung will be selling the 32gb variant unlike before where they launch the 16gb for note2. Personally, I really prefer the 32gb and I'm very happy that Samsung decided to scrap the 16gb variant for note 3. Please update us on any new details with regards to launch date, venue and most especially the reservation of units.. Thanks and more power to you! :fingers-crossed:

1. with the new proc i found it snappier than the stock tw from the s4 variant. i dont usually benchmark tests since they are not that reliable but if there's one i use 3dmark (scores excellent almost above the Sony z1 line)
2. the accuracy of the screen has vastly improved from both the note 1 and 2 (which both i also own)...the pen is precise and pin point
3. touch response is excellent and the whole screen now even those at the sides of the bezel can be touched controlled as well...
i have almost all the galaxy lines of samsung and the note 3 delivers even on stock...what more if you can mod it, too much potential

no resources yet for that as my device is a pre production unit and the source is probably not yet out...but knowing samsung, its definitely open...unless theyve changed their minds just for the note

I just bought the nexus5 and i love it. It's stock android is amazing , and the screen colour is very natural.
So to the question ... will you nexus users upgrade to the upcoming S5 ? It looks like its going feature a screen bigger than 5'' and a 16mp camera.
Never again shall I buy a locked down, poorly updated, bloated device.
(Looking at you HTC).
So I guess my answer is no

What do you mean by ''locked down phone'' ? As for ''bloated device'' and ''poorly updated'' , I completely agree. I love OTA updates !
No. Why would I? It’s not a Nexus. It’ll likely be great hardware with no-so-great Samsung software, as usual.

Galaxy S5 will be saddled with Touchwiz. Even the recent 'leaks' of what might be the new Touchwiz were pretty gawd-awful to me. It will be significantly more expensive than the Nexus 5 unlocked, and will be locked down hard on AT&T and Verizon. Bigger than 5" screen is a non-starter for me. N5 is just about perfect size for me. It will probably have a better camera app but the individual pixels on the sensor are going to be tiny, probably leading to fairly poor low light performance. S5 will probably have a larger battery, but I doubt they'll be getting 3000+ mAh. Even if it gets Snapdragon 805, I doubt it will perform a ton better than the N5 due to software and TW 'feature' overload.
Coming from the DNA, s3, and note 2, absolutely not. The Samsung 4.3 ota locked the s3/note 2 hard. All new phones will ship this way.

Why is this a thread? Shouldn't this be in the samsung section of XDA, where I dare not venture?
megapixels don't matter by the way on a standard photo that 90% of people take, store, and share.
I have the S4 now and will be getting the n5 this week. The main reason i'm switching is because the galaxy series bootloaders are locked and no one has found a way to bypass them. I've been using safestrap but its not the same.
The pure Android experience is the way to go. Updates right when they are released, No bloatware, and a free to modify phone with no locks on it.
Nope! Nexus FTW

Same. Coming from a AT&T Galaxy S4 I can say this x100. Never again a Samsung product. The only S4 feature, and feature from the S5, is AMOLED, and for the S5 the 2K display. However the camera on the Nexus 5 is superior to the S4 I had, at least I get WAY better photos. I will never buy a Non-Nexus Android phone again. Although iPhone6 may tempt me.

and you guys are all looking at this wrong. this will be a great device as long as you purchase the unlocked/google play edition. no bootloader crap. as far as firmware goes, that can be changed. my rooted S4, with twrp and everything else this nexus has, including a superb aosp-based rom and kernel, was a thing of beauty. i expect some big power and solid support for the international and unlocked variants.
stop looking at carrier variants.
stop judging a device based on its shipped firmware.

technically, any device that is 1920x1080 is "2K"...only like 80 pixels shy of it. close enough. tech industry should refer to higher spec displays as 2.5K, really.
Might do, depends how it's built. I'm already a bit bored of my Nexus 5 and I think Android is getting to a point where the leaps in software are less and less. I've even gone back to stock and relocked my bootloader I'm that happy with stock Android!
We'll see once it's released but never say never...one thing is us UK users won't face the same issues as you carrier-branded US users will as our bootloaders will be easy to sort out so that's a moot point over here

The S4 Google Play edition was not available on Google Play for almost 3 months since it was released. I bought my AT&T Branded one in late May 2013, and I believe July the Google Edition came out. So they aren't out right away. Likewise you have to judge a device by it's shipped firmware, as in some cases like the AT&T Galaxy S4, with the inability to downgrade firmware versions, if you're device shipped with "AMF3" firmware or newer, you're stuck because Loki was patched and you cannot get around the locked bootloader. With no guarantee of a Google Play Edition version, there may be no way around it. As the International version (Such as the I-9505) are not available for sale to consumers directly in the US, some people haven no choice but to use the carrier branded versions.
This is my first nexus phone ... i came from a galaxy s4 and i also love the nexus5. It's a phone that you can pratically say you will get the update exactly when it released from google.
samsung sucks donkey **** :good:

there will be a GPE edition or at least an LTE-enabled unlocked variant. my comment on the shipped firmware and my entire response in general was aimed at this particular edition of the S5. if you're an international user or north american user with the unlocked LTE model, you wont be dealing with the bootloader issues and, again, the shipped OS wont matter. that can be changed.
I'm not interested in going back to Samsung devices. I spent too much time switching ROMs, trying to get an AOSP(ish) experience from my S3. There were always things that didn't work, and the battery life was sh*t as well. Since getting this phone I've stayed on the same ROM for ages, and it has no bugs. None. I don't have to waste my time any more. A 2k screen (even if it is AMOLED, which I love) and an extra gig of RAM isn't worth the trade-offs.

Hey guys,
I kinda want to buy the S7 (since I can get it new for 450€ here in belgium), but I'm still not convinced (mainly because i lose warranty by rooting and lack of custom roms like CM). Can you guys tell me why I should go for the S7 and not for the OP3T (for example)?
TLDR; give me good reasons to get an S7
It's not for us to convince, you need to read reviews, look at camera samples, test the phone as a physical demo in a store, compare what you find against the same with the OnePlus and decide if the price difference is worth it
---------- Post added at 12:02 ---------- Previous post was at 11:57 ----------
Have you made the same threads in other device forums?
If no, then it sounds like you already know which phone you want
Get a Moto Z Force. OnePlus battery is awful. Only drawback of Moto Z is no notification led and no headphone jack but it comes with an adapter.

Well you're only going to really find 'Pro' S7 owners here lol
I think the phone is great, but don't have any others to compare it to, came from the S5 which I also thought was great
S7 is extremely quick, gets around 130k+ Antutu score, camera is stunning, battery life around 6 hours SoT depending on usage
Would I buy it again if I had the choice, yes
Plus Gear VR, you can get a headset either free depending on region and deal you get, or for about £40 on Amazon

thanks man,
i incline more towards the s7 because its 5.1inch (and includes one-handed mode in its software), while the 3t is 5.5inch (which is kinda too large for me, and it has no one-handed mode)
i only wish i could root without breaking knox & my warranty why u do dis samsung why
I usually root all my Droids, but haven't felt the need to with the S7
Bloatware can be disabled with Package disablers from the play store without root
Ads blocked using non root VPN blockers
Really they were the main things I needed root for in the past, but happy without it this time round

Everything, it redirects traffic through VPN to adblocker > phone
There are a few different ones, I've tried this one
https://block-this.com/
Seems to work well
Only use it for 4G though, I have an adblocker running on the network that blocks ads on everything DHCP anyway
Adguard too

I bought one a few weeks ago and wasnt sure about whether I would stick with it.
I think its a great phone.
- didnt think I would care but I love the design and the way it feels in my hand. In that respect I totally could not get excited about the Pixel
- battery has been quite good for me
- Ive only had it for a few weeks but so far its very fast and a pleasure to use from an interface perspective
- camera is great. really good and really fast. Im not picky about that but its noticeable how nicely it works
- I have been having a little of a problem where it seems like the bluetooth may not be as strong as the S4 I came from. Not sure why that would be but when listening on bluetooth headphones with the phone in my pocket I get crackles and interruptions where I did not with my S4. I feel like this shouldnt be the case but so far I have been having a little of an issue there.

thanks alot, what were ur previous phones? have u rooted ur S7 or dont u feel the need? (i kinda love xposed too much)
Ive had an S2 and an S4.
Held on to my S4 for a while because I didnt see an obvious reason to upgrade.
My S4 was rooted and ROM'd but so far have not been compelled to do that on S7.
I have both. Selling the One plus 3 as I don't use it any more. It's a good phone for the price but the s7 is just that little bit better in every way. For only a 10 euro difference I don't know why you're even asking.
Guess what, I just bought an S7 lol.
The first thing I always do on any android phone, is root + flash twrp + flash the best custom rom available. So which custom ROM do u guys recommend for the S7?
Congrats, make sure you read up on flashing TWRP, it's not as straight forward as usual thanks to encryption etc
Enable OEM unlock in Developer settings too
I think Superman ROM is pretty popular but I've just stuck with stock
I'm game: Get the S7 because you want a sub 5.5" flagship. It's screen is second to none, the Exynos processor is second to none. The camera is second to none. The battery life is good. With root/debloating, the speed advantage of AOSP is gone as Samsung has been making touchwiz better (and 7.0 better still). Get the dual sim model if you want all those things plus whatever reasons people us dual sim phones
...
Just read you got the S7.
First question is which CSC does your carrier use. If it's BTU, I'd say use a 7.0 Beta. If not, then use a S7 6.0 rom (or a better in many ways N7 port). If you use a N7 port, you will get your CSC from the N7 forum (same person released both version).
I like roms made by sac23 as his rom had the earliest support for T-mobile USA (s7 edge forums is more active with roms and they all work with the S7). I also like roms by tkkg994 as he seems to have the most comprehensive development work for the S7 (kernel/csc/3 roms). I prefer roms with rom control (which I use to remove am/pm from the clock and put a cirlce battery in place but is a more powerful theming tool).

Yes development is still very active!! Good ur not getting edge coz that phone is slippy and damage prone.
Best rom is SuperMan rom always in development and a very active telegram chat for the rom too!

Is there a flash that's clean of bloatware for the note?
I know there's no root for the N5 and I learned about the flashing idea from the S8 forum here at xda. The person wrote to flash unlocked. Verizon says that all their 4g phones are unlocked. How do flash unlocked?
Thanks
Can anyone comment on this positivity or negatively.?

There is no bloatware free firmware that you can flash. When Verizon says unlocked by that they mean the sim card slots unlocked so you can use it with any carrier you choose.. You cannot flash nothing to the N5 with the locked bootloader.
I really appreciate you chiming in. I guess a bloatware free flash is wishful thinking. At this point and since my upgrade is in November I've given up hope on any chance of a root for the note5. And almost don't care anymore. My next phone may be the s8 or s8+. So far I don't see any review on the Note 8 that's swaying me towards another note. I'm almost thinking 7s iPhone series but probably won't.
Do you know if the Verizon s8 series has root?
Thanks!

I also just received my new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and I'm messing with it testing the battery VS the S8+ because the Note 8 is 3,300 and the S8+ is 3,500 but the funny thing is the Note 8 lasted longer and I had them both doing the same exact thing brightness was 100% on both and both were playing a YouTube video and the first one to shut off was the S8+ so I was a bit shocked but then again the Note 8 has more ram and the firmware was perfected just for the Note 8 and battery longevity, so I'm going to keep the Note 8 for now.

Nice!! Well, I'm still leaning to a the S8 but I'll still see what the Pixel 2 is like. I like the thought of being bloat free. But with a rooted s8 or plus that could be a wash in favor for Samsung.
Thanks!
so this means you cannot flash an unlocked firmware on the N5, like you can on the S8+, to remove Verizon's bloatware and stuff?
