[GAME][4.1+] NES-like Tetris with multiplayer and no on screen buttons - Android Apps and Games

Hello,
I was searching for a good NES-like Tetris version for Android with online and offline multiplayer support and good touch control for ages. Didn't find any, so I decided to made one myself.
If you also love to play classic NES-style and multiplayer, give it a try. Multiplayer offline works within LAN, online via Google Play Games. You can also earn Play Games XP when performing special actions but of course the app is usable without it.

If you don't have installed Play services, you can find the APK on itch.io.
Hope you enjoy it, if you have improvement suggestions, feel free to leave them here. If you like the game, please leave a positive rating on the store.
The game is made with libGDX framework. I can recommend this framework from my experiences. I've written the GPGS integration from scratch. I extracted it and published it as open-source on Github: https://github.com/MrStahlfelge/gdx-gamesvcs/

Added the GIF!

Nice tetris. Thanks for the game.

thanks for the game, it seems good

Uploaded the game to Amazon App Store and added the link for those with Fire devices.

Oh boy, you don't know how long I've been waiting for someone to make a competitive Tetris game that could be played on Android with multiplayer. Honestly, I think there's a lot of potential here if you can polish the game.
First problem are the controls. The control scheme, which requires you to hold your finger and move to move the blocks really doesn't work. You should have the option of going with the traditional (Gameboy) scheme which is basically the 4 directions, two rotations, and a drop...all on separate buttons.

Thanks for your honest feedback.
As for the controls. I did not want to use on screen buttons like the most other Tetris variations for mobile devices. It is not playable when you reach faster levels: You don't hit the buttons and then - game over. This does not happen on Gameboy, of course. The haptic feedback guides your fingers to the right place to push. So, my approach was to reverse this: Instead of your finger needing to hit the right place on the screen where the button to move is, the buttons follow your finger. This is the virtual gamepad you've seen. You say you had to hold your finger and move to move the block. That's correct - but you don't have to move your finger all the time. That is a common misunderstanding I see, but I don't know how to avoid it. Obviously the Tutorial is not clear enough, but another difficulty is that players are used to drag&drop gestures on touch screens. But look at the animation above. You see the gray dot, that's the touch point.
The players that get used to the approach are mostly satisfied with it and like it. So - is my assumption correct, did you think you have to drag the pieces?

the game looks very promising.. installed and will try it.. thx!
i have tried some tetris clones using on-screen buttons for control.. imho they are not good for touch screen games..
this is actually the reason why im attracted to this game's approach..

Added link to the Github repository with the game service extension (just the game service implementation - not the whole game is open-sourced )

The game has now reached v1.00 with over 1000 downloads, 40 reviews and a rating of 4.8!

User interface was completely refreshed and the game is also available for Android TV and FireTV.

WOW. I randomly passed by here and am so glad I did! I wil definitely share it with everyone I know who likes Tetris.
Thank you again! The EA version was .. more than disappointing for me and you did it perfect

Nice and simple game
What kind of engine did you use to build this game ?

Good tetris. Unfortunately it is impossible use name Tetris in the Google Play due to copyrights.

Looks very good, and the multiplayer function is very great.

Thank you all!

I used libGDX to develop it. I can really recommend this engine.
@Diameyy I am currently working on a global, turn-based multiplayer. I will post here when it will be available in the beta channel.

[GAME] DroidPlex Lite (FREE Supaplex clone)

Hi all,
I've recently released my first Android title: DroidPlex!
The 1991 classic game Supaplex now faithfully re-created for your Android. If you liked Supaplex or Boulder Dash, you will love this. Also great for kids.
The first 7 original levels are playable in this Lite version.
The full version is also available and includes all 111 original Supaplex levels.
market.android.com/details?id=com.visualrealmsoftware.android.droidplex
If you were a fan of Supaplex or Boulder Dash, be sure to check these out.
Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
Great game, am actually considering buying it, which for me is rare because I really don't like buying stuff off the market. would be great if you could add supprort for wii remote, not sure how feasible that is but still a great game!
So glad I could use my wiimote am. Love this game.
Thanks wolfnut! I appreciate it.
If you liked the first 7 levels, you're going to love the additional 104
Cheers
Troy
Already beat the first 7 and i can't wait for the next 104.
That's great @visrealm !
Only one comment, on the original Supaplex, when you would hit the space-bar and press one of the arrow keys, you could take the atom thingy next to you without actually needing to step over it. Remember that ?
Are you planning to implement it on your version ?
You'll be glad to learn DroidPlex! already has this too.
If you have a hardware D-pad, you can use the D-pad centre. You can also use a hardware space bar. You can also re-assign this to another hardware button in the preferences (Hit menu from the level selector).
If you don't have any hardware button, you can choose the option to use touch-screen 'action' button.
Hope this helps!
Troy
Totally awesome! This game reminds me of my childhood too bad my SGS doesn't have hardware d-pad, playing would be so much better... But still, game rox. Will buy for sure :-]
Thank you so much for making this! Very faithful port of one of my favorite puzzlers. Comfortable controls and it works flawlessly (HTC Vision)
Great memories from the C-64 in the 80-ies. Even my mother played boulder dash
Remember playing this back in the day.
Controls are great, Game is smooth to run on the Desire.
Thanks so much for making this for us.
Thanks for your support
Thanks for the support and feedback everyone.
Also thanks to egzthunder1 for this article: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...h-or-supaplex-on-your-android-with-droidplex/ - I've received 3 weeks worth of downloads in a single day since that was posted.
Troy
New Update - 1.3.3
Due do popular demand, I've added a trial mode to the additional 104 levels on DroidPlex! Lite. This allows you to *try* those levels too without getting the full version.
Since the first 7 levels don't really include much interaction with sniksnaks, electrons or bombs, you can now give them a go.
Cheers

I've done some testing with this and found the existing wiimote controller app ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ccpcreations.android.WiiUseAndroid ) works fine with DroidPlex! You can configure the buttons in the DroidPlex preferences too.

Google TV / market
Excellent game, I've been searching for "repton" in market for over 1 year until I finally gave up...until today!
How about making it available in the google tv android market? it would look great on a big screen!
p.s. i'll definitely buy it as soon as i'm done with the free levels (i've only completed the first 3)

[GAME][2.2+] Aqua Balls, great little game

Hello fellow XDA folks! I'm happy to announce that my brother and I have just published our first game on Google play. We aren't a real company, we made this in our spare time after work. So just about as indie developer as you can get.
Aqua Balls is a portrait-mode tilting super fill-up game. It's simple but we think it's polished. You press and hold to grow the Aqua Balls, and the goal is to fill up the screen with them. Angry Balls pop your Aqua Balls as they are growing, but once they are complete they become invulnerable. There's a few worlds right now with different game mechanics but we will add more as we think of ideas. We think it's a lot of fun and pretty decent looking.
This is a free ad-supported game and I promise, no malware or airpush.
Download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.woggle.aquaballs
Description:
Help the Aqua Balls expand and defend the seafloor!
The Aqua Balls are under attack by Angry Balls! Expand Aqua Balls to fill the screen by pressing and holding on the screen. Tilt your device to shift things around, trap the Angry Balls in small places, and help the Aqua Balls defend the seafloor! Fill the screen at least two thirds full with Aqua Balls to win. There are multiple areas to play in with different game rules for each area, and 12 levels per area. Challenge yourself to get 4 stars on every level in every area!
Aqua Balls is a portrait-mode puzzle game based on Super Fill-Up.

I personally have played this for hours (I'm the OP's brother - helped develop it), and I still find it to be entertaining. I hope that somebody here will enjoy it too! Give us a shout if you have any comments!
We just updated to 1.0.2!
- Added cloud backup (Google Cloud Storage) of savegame data
- Added facebook integration (more to come)
- Added a level number display at the beginning of each level
- Some bugfixes to background animations in world 2
Anybody have a chance to give it a try yet?
I installed this and played it for a while. I can tell that you guys really put a lot of effort into polishing it, I'm impressed. Of the games that I've seen forum-spammed lately, this is one of my favorites (I think I'll be leaving it installed). I think I might play this quite a bit. I have a few comments:
* You should add a QR download code to your first post
* I see (via addons detector) that you're only using AndEngine, AdMob, NDK, and Analytics so I'm happy to say that it looks like your game is clean there
* Everything is nice and snappy. How do you avoid having a delay while you load the levels? It feels instantaneous.
* You should add a video to your play store page
* Your credits dialog is a little ugly, but I guess that's not really that important (everything else looks great)
How are you rendering the "light rays" in the background? Do they use shaders?
Good work guys!

Hey slurmee, thanks for the comments. We pre-load the assets for the whole game at startup, that's why it feels so snappy. As far as the light rays, they're just a translucent sprite that we sweep over the background, we initially experimented with shaders, but found the sprite method to be simpler and just as effective.
My brother's been too busy to add a QR code to the top post, so here's one you can use for now:
Aqua Balls for Android

[GAME][2.3+] Stellar Clash

Storyline:
As General Harris and the Empire travel across galaxies to help every living creature and to ensure order. The Empire encounters the aliens and the hybrids. Aliens are dumb-like species that spread rapidly around galaxies. Eating planets consuming galaxies is the only thing that they know. Hybrids, on the other hand, are aliens with human-like features who invented the EWA (Extreme Weapon Arm) which the Empire studied and copied its architecture and mechanism. We aren't really sure what Hybrids are really up to.
Gameplay:
Side scrolling shooter game. You will play as Gen. Harris and start off as a gunship. Your gunship evolves if you capture powerups(yellow boxes), and turns into an EWA on its last evolution. Aside from abolishing bad guys you will also have to defend your mothership. Without the mothership the game is over. But dont worry you are not alone in the battlefield, you can deploy defensive units which makes the game also an RTS.

I have some advices for your good game:

2) Some textures (explosion animation, big bullets) are not transparent and i can see texture borders - this is not critical, but can increase graphical attractive.
3) Exit button very small - i found it after continious searching.

Good luck.:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Lol, check most of the indie games and phone games, 80% looks like AAA graphics from ~5-10 years back.
Good game it needs more graphics bro but really nice work.
Give him a chance, it's his first game and its only him making it. Not a team.

I develop this game myself, using no 3d engine, only opengl. I'm mainly a student, learning computer graphics programming, so my art skills (blender, gimp) are not that good (if not bad).
I plan to improve on the assets and effects later though
thanks for the feedback!
great ..
Really great effort ... :good:
+1 from me ...
I'm going to try it. Thank you!
thanks for trying it
additional levels (lava, arctic, etc) and a cooperative multiplayer mode is under development. there was once a working coop mode but it didnt use google play services so im updating it.
VR Mode improvements
I am working on improving the VR / Cardboard mode, especially the controls. Are there any opinions, on what is bad, and what is good? How many of you tried VR mode at all?
Some questions:
-The head roll rotates the helicopter as of now. Would it be better if if you looked away, your helicopter would follow slowly your gaze, and eventually get centered at your look?
-The altitude is controlled by onscreen buttons. Would it be better if looking up/down controlled it instead? i noticed that that way you are forced to look away from your targets, but it is more intuitive.
-Is it good that now you can look around in the environment, but this way if you dont follow the helicopter's rotation with your head, it gets out of sight? An indicator that shows the direction to the helicopter, when it is off-sight could help...
If you have any other opinions (for example on speed selection, which now works by selecting from 4 buttons), please write them here
Gamepad support in new version!
The game has been updated with USB/Bluetooth gamepad support. Controllers can be used in both VR and normal modes.
VR mode is greatly enhanced by a controller, the previous control was a bit hard to use.
I tested the game with an XInput compatible controller, and a generic directinput controller, if there is something wrong in the mapping, please let me know!
It' so good that you made it yourself. I really like your game, but you should improve graphics to make the game better
good

thanks I am planning to improve graphics. I'm unsatisfied with the helicopter models/textures and the teapotcopter's texture, i plan to improve on that. Is there anything you would like to get an overhaul? Also did you set your Graphics Quality to High / Very high?
The game is reaching 1000 downloads (there are 10 or so left)! Thanks for everyone for their support!
I'm planning many new exciting features, in the coming weeks! This inlcudes Google Play services backed Coop multiplayer (available in VR mode also!), new Levels (a lava, and a snowbase level are in the works), and new type of aircraft, and also new gameplay elements.
Also graphical elements (GUI, some models) will see an overhaul also!
If you have a moment, Please Rate the game on Google Play so that i can continue working on it!

[GAME][4.0] Hungry Dragon - My third game. Would love your feedback :)

Hello everyone, firstly thank you for your interest in the game.
This is the third game I've released after staring developing for android just 2 months ago.
A bit about the game:
Hungry Dragon is about a very picky eater two-headed Dragon. They can never be in agreement on what kind of food they like. One Dragon Head is a vegetarian, while the other is a carnivore. It’s up to you to make the Dragon happy and feed him the right food, by making fast and accurate decisions.
The game also features an in-game currency (coins) which you can collect in order to unlock new accessories for the dragon, ranging from sunglassed, tattos and more.
DISABLE ADS FOR FREE: A unique feature that I personally haven't seen yet, is the ability to completely disable ads by spending the in-game coins. I figured, that if someone likes the game so much and play it for a long time, they should be rewarded in a tangible way for their dedication. As such, when you collect 500 coins you can disable the ads and have the game ad-free without any IAPs or real money.

Performance and how smooth the game runs on your device.
Ads frequency. Are they too intrusive or are they ballanced?
Difficulty. Was the game too hard or too easy for you?
Thank you very much for downloading and for trying the game. If you like it, please rate it, I would highly appreciate it!

Thanks for the feedback

More feedback would be highly appreciated
Some people say it's too easy. Do you guys find it too easy?
A nice game
I found the game on twitter, and i think its very nice . I like the graphical style and it has a nice concept. It's running smoothly and everything, but if i tap on the screen very fast, the dragons don't turn the right way and are looking to the right/left and i don't know which one is the upper one and which one is the lower one anymore. Another nice thing about the App is the possibility to disable Ads by ingame currency.
I think there is only one sentence of the Play Store description in german, and it's not very good german . I offer you to translate it to german, if you want. PM me for this.
It is a little too easy, but not too bad. I do think the GPlay page could use some more gameplay screenshots though. Actually, it crashes when I lose. Using Nexus 7 II - Android 5.0.2

Thank you for playing the game and for the feedback
Other people reported that the game is too easy. In the next update I will make it significantly harder and make it so that the coins can be collected more easily.
I just pushed a new update:
- Increased difficulty and added another difficulty step. The dragon game should now be easy to pickup and really hard to get a high score. This will separate the REALLY good players from the casual ones.
- Made the coins easier to pick up. You no longer have to be perfectly precise when dragging the coins as they are "bigger" and stay longer on the screen.
Nice design and music! Good job!
