Hello! I got my XZ Premium this Friday, and I got this problem almost right away.
I have a Huawei Watch connected to my phone, the problem is that Bluetooth on the phone turns itself off quite often. Sometimes it happens after 30 minutes, another time it happens after 2 hours.
I have to activate Bluetooth on the phone again when it happens, so it's not that the watch is disconnecting by itself.
Is anyone else having this problem? This might not be specific to the XZ Premium, it might be a bug in Android.

I have the same problem, it looks like bluetooth got serious issues on Android 7. I have problems with bluetooth song information not being updated on my car radio, so I decided to create a bug report. "Luckily" the bluetooth turned off about 20 sec after I turned it on. So my bug report should contain necessary data to fix this issue, I've sent it over to Sony support.
I solved this problem! I went into the Network settings and there was a choice called Reset Network Settings (I think, my phone is in Swedish). I lost all my Bluetooth connections and every Wifi I had connected to, but after that reset the Bluetooth works!

I have the U11 which is also on 7.1.1. I have this annoying problem too :/
Car just won't work correctly. Apparently 7.1.2 might have the fixes in it but I don't know when the U11 will get that.
Personally I don't care if it's an Android or Sony problem. I know I am SICK AND TIRED of buying expensive phone(s) from many OEM's only to discover that we are receiving units that do not function as advertised!! It is time that these OEM's start improving their quality control to make sure that these things work. These are not $20.00 items but several hundred dollars each. TIme for the lawyers!
I also wish those who review these things would STOP with all the camera crap and put these things through their paces in the area's that are most important.... like signal quality.... all signals. There is too much emphasis on gaming, VR, and how well the camera can take pictures in the dark. Who cares if you cannot connect to anything??? Get a DSLR if you must take pictures with the lights off. So stupid!

Question now is for how long does fix last. Mine goes in and out daily as well as periodically and really creates havoc with my SWR12, (SmartBand 2), vibrates something wicked as well as draining the battery. Tried your suggestion on my own and in no time problem reappeared. Ultimately, is this an Android 7 problem or Sony jinx?

Good to know I'm not the only one with this problem (or not good, but you know what I mean)
Yeah I spoke way too soon, the problem reappeared a few hours after. I guess I was too positive The same thing is happening here, my Huawei Watch is vibrating like crazy.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern when it turns off either, one time it can be after 30 minutes, the next after a few hours. It happens both at home and my workplace, so not location-related. Extremely annoying!
I think this is a bug with the XZ Premium, but I'm not sure.
This has been driving me nuts since I got the phone. At first I thought it was a battery saving thing but it's pretty inconsistent. The good news is it seems to maintain a connection as long as I'm actively using bluetooth for my headset or speakers but after I stop it shuts off after a period of time.
I have the same issue what i did is forget the device that was connected and reconnect it. So far i haven't notice turning off by itself. Hope it would not happen again.

Anyone still having this issue. I never had this issue under Nougat but its driving me nuts under Oreo. I just can't get a stable Bluetooth connection, it's constantly disconnecting and turning itself off. Bloody thing's almost gone out of the car window a few times as it turned bluetooth even when connected and I'm driving.

Hi again folks. Great news. Sony disappointed me for the last time during their IFA 2018 for not introducing an honest to goodness successor to my Xperia XZ Premium so I finally switched over to Samsung Galaxy & got a great deal on the Note 9, 8gb. ram, 512gb. rom version (SM-N960FZBHNEE model) with my phone carrier Telenor's Swap program. As it's using Ore 8.1 as well as Bluetooth 5.0 all Bluetooth blackouts are a thing of the past on both my Sony SmartBand 2, swr12, as well as my Plantronics Edge. Thus happy days for all you others who have phones with update options equivalencies.
Same problem here with XZ1

Since the update, my SW2 seems to be incapable of playing nicely with any other Bluetooth-enabled devices. If I am in an area where it is just my phone (LG G2 running KK) and the watch, everything works just fine. But if my phone connects to something else via BT, for example my car stereo or BT headphones), the watch will immediately disconnect and the only way to reestablish a connection is to power cycle the watch.
I'm trying to determine if this is a problem with the firmware update or simply a matter of a problem between phone's BT firmware and the watch. Anyone else have the same issue?
I don't face this problem. I've used 2 BT headphones models without any issue.

Before the update I had zero connection problems. After the update my SW2 constantly disconnects and sometimes reconnects, other times I have reconnect by going through smart connect and un-pairing/re-pairing to power cycle the watch. I have tried disabling apps and even removing all apps and resetting all to no avail. This is extremely frustrating because my fancy new expensive piece of tech is 99% useless . Also I have ZERO bluetooth devices on in the area besides the SW2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there a way to flash and/or format the SW2? I tried SUS(sony update service) which USED to have the SW2 in it with a repair option but they have since removed the SW2 in the latest version 2.14.6.2014170858.

I have the same problem with my new sw2 firm: 1.0.B.4.154 and my sgs4 standard ROM .If You find some solutions for this problem please wright how make this.
Question: does any of you guys use the 'watchwidgets' app?
I had disconnection problems too only while using the clock widgets from this app.
As soon as I removed it all went back to normal.
I'd strongly suggest a connectivity test without the use of any 3rd party screen candy, at least for a day, maybe it'll help you find the culprit.

I think the problem is on te watch because i try for four different phone with only 1 aplication for smw2 is smart watch connection
i think about loading Rom for watch but i don't now how.
It sounds like a watch problem indeed... can't you go to Sony with it? If you're still under warranty maybe they'll change it...
As for a watch ROM...there isn't any, as far as I am aware.

Hey guys,
2 days ago I updated my German z5 due pcc to Android 6.0. Since that I'm facing issues with my smartwatch. Directly after the update, I didn't get any connection to my watch again. I tried do reset the watch and installed android wear app new. Luckily the first connection is always possible, but after first setup I´m not able to connect again. Does anyone has another hint, then reset my z5 like the support of Sony did? I don´t have the feeling, that a reset would, because it is obviously a Bluetooth issue. Thanks for any help and see the screenshot attached. The screenshot shows, how android wear is always stopping when trying to get a connection.
Update:
Yesterday something strange happened. I settled my watch the whole day in it's loading station and in the evening I saw, that my watch was muted like my phone was. When I opened up android wear, I saw my watch was connected, also every app was synced. So I started to install some new wear app and the all get synced. But when I pulled up my watch from the loading station, the connection immediately got lost and until now, I'm not able to connect again. Now I'm pretty sure it is an Bluetooth bug, coming with the android 6.0 update of my z5.

So I have been reading about and there are loads of bluetooth issues with Marshmallow even with googles own Nexus devices I know it's not going to help you... http://ausdroid.net/2015/11/17/google-working-fix-nexus-6p-bluetooth-issues/ so I think google need to understand what the problem is a provide a fix for the other manufacturers to include.
My best guess is bluetooth is not behaving nicely in the new google ART cache which is supposed to fully replace delvik in Marshmallow.
Guys, this issue has been pestering for a month now and I seem to have not found a fix for this yet. I first started to notice the problem with my phone when I was unable to attend the calls, the screen will usually get stuck or i will not be able to swipe up the green button during the call. Even if sometimes I manage to i will be able to hear the other person speak but I wont be able to speak to them. So sometimes once I restart the phone it will seem to work fine for an indefinite period of time and again it starts.
Then things started getting very bad, sometimes during normal device usage, the screen just turns to a monochrome black and white screen ( just as you see when there was no signal on older television sets). And when I switch to the bootloader screen, when I power the device on, I get a very thin green line for an instant on the screen and then the booting sequence starts.
I have made a lot of factory resets and stock image flashing, and by far I noticed one considerably situation, the times when the sound functions fine, the booting sequence where the 4 google dots animation appears and when there is no sound, the booting sequence gets stuck on Google and made by Google screen.
Other observations are during abnormal device behavior, no function related to sound will properly. To elaborate it, Google assistant wont work, videos cannot be played and even the system sounds wont be heard. I am open to suggestions here. Please let me know what can be done to test the phone out. FYI I know there is a problem with the Pixel microphone, but I am not convinced that its the exact problem. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.
Sounds like a hardware defect. RMA if possible.

It is a hardware issue indeed, I am facing the same issue, I contacted google , they told that replacement is possible tho I'm out of Canada at the moment so I'm just dealing with it through my Bluetooth earphones, everybody works fine with Bluetooth.
That's the only way I suppose!...did you get the phone directly from the Google store?...are they accepting phones bought from a retailer?...since I am in Singapore now...Google support is next to nothing here...try contacting them but it's of no use...only when I get to India I will be able to go forward with the replacement!.....but the thing is .... yesterday...I updated the phone to Oreo and the audio stopped working completely....and after repeated switching between safe and normal mode....the speakers are working now...but the microphone is still busted.
This happened to me, I was given a replacement phone from EE UK
Current update guys...as per the pixel support centre person's suggestion ...I rebooted the device to safe mode to check if the phone is operating normally ...which it did not....but surprisingly ...after restarting to normal mode ...it started working normally again...my query is how is this zeroed down to an hardware issue if in case it's perfectly working for a while and at some point goes bonkers...can you guys please enlighten me on this...coz I don't have much knowledge on the hardware field.

Tough luck mate! Sorry to hear that....you can check it out by pressing down the power button until you get the power off and restart menu. well, its been almost an hour the phone wont turn sound back on.
Keep switching it to and out of safe mode...at some point ideally at least the speakers must start lest the microphone. Tried contacting Google about it and no response at all...mine started acting weird only for the past month...I suppose from the Aug months patch update....tried reverting it back to previous stock versions...but I suppose the damage is permanently done
When I contacted google, they told me to send it back to Canada and let someone there give it to google.. which won't happen in my case , my phone also started acting like this after Oreo beta . Now I will restart the phone whenever it happens to get it back working :/
The only reason I am still sticking to this phone is coz of it's camera. Planning to get back to India around December to get this fixed. Support for pixel in Singapore now is next to nothing since it wasn't launched here. I had no problem at all with the Nexus line up but this is kind of a disappointment.

Planning to do just that....I may have better luck with a custom kernel...will post an update once I have flashed it.
I had been on the 8.0 beta for a while. Then got 8.0.
Though just 2 days ago, my mic was starting to have issues. Then yesterday, only my speaker phone would work.
Now I can't get any audio/mic except though Bluetooth (I've got a portable speaker with a mic, and Bluetooth on my car.
Contacted Google support. Will be getting a replacement on their warranty.
They didn't tell me this, but I did some searching, and apparently many of the pixels (mostly from the first 3 months of production) had an issue with the soldering of the audio codec. though usage, little bumps here and there, that soldering can get loose. Which explains why my audio and mic were spotty, and within an hour yesterday morning, all aspects of it stopped working.
So, it's a hardware issue.
Well I just upgraded to new Oreo and guess what? I can't use my Bluetooth headset anymore (Blue Tiger Elite). The audio gets distorted or breaking up. Failing to connect or disconnect to/from the phone. Was working fine before update. Tinkering Bluetooth settings in developer mode didn't help since they will stay unchanged after you open the menu again.
Have anyone encountered same problem?
When im paired up with the stereo in my work truck i noticed a pop every now and then.

Audio streaming on Nougat for me was perfect all the time, now since my Oreo update I've experienced constant stuttering and/or growly distortion for a moment at least every ten seconds. Also 'Settings' keeps closing whenever I'm accessing any of my apps when changing permissions for example. It couldn't even pull up my app list, so I've done a backup and deleted at least 300 of my apps, and only now things are slightly better. I don't understand why everything is lagging so much now when before the update, all was perfect.. Help?

Try factory reset, it worked for me. Good luck!
Yes, I'm having the same issue with bluetooth connection and the same Blue Tiger Elite. Just got off the phone with Verizon tech person he is thinking my headset is old enough technology that it won't stay connected.

Recently on my Note 10+ (SM-N975U1) running stock Pie and Dec 1 2019 update, I have been experience 2 issues.
Notifications for some apps are delayed
App updates hang on Google Play Store
For the app updates, they stall with "Download Pending" or the download stalls with <100% complete.
Resolution steps that have NOT worked
Clearing cache and data for Google Play Store
Rebooting phone
Rebooting into Safe Mode
Changing from Wifi to Cell Network Data and vice versa
Stop/starting app updates
Current Workaround
Closing/swiping the Google Play Store and opening it again. It will eventually complete downloading after multiple attempts and install/update an app - you will have to repeat this continuously for every app you want to install or update.
Is there anyway to debug this without doing a complete reset?
This is a problem I've had on many phones over the last few years. It took me a while to figure it out but it's bluetooth related. More specifically, I had the "Dynamic Lock" option enabled on my Windows 10 work laptop (which basically just locks my pc when my phone gets far enough away). I disabled this and now all my notifications come immediately and play store updates work as they should. I realize that you may not have that enabled and if that is the case then turn off your bluetooth for a while and see what happens. It worked for me and several others on the samsung community forum.

Thank you! I turned off Bluetooth but nothing happened but after I rebooted with Bluetooth off everything started to work again. Is there a permanent fix for this? I am assuming turning back on Bluetooth will cause this to happen again? The strange thing this never happened to my Note 8.

I have no idea why this happens. What I do know I have had this issue on LG phones, Pixels, and Motorola's. It isn't a Samsung thing. I think it's an Android Bluetooth issue.
This is an old thread - but in case someone else finds it, I came across someone's suspicions in another thread that their Plantronics headset was causing some kind of problem with their Bluetooth. I began unplugging my Savi headset when not in use and it seems to help... YMMV.
This has been going on since Pie; made me upgrade from my Note 8 to Note 10 and it came right back. Infuriating.
You may also want to try to rub a lucky stone and do some chanting as well, because it's about as effective as hoping for a fix after all this time.
