Has anyone else gotten this? It's about 87* out, but I've kept the phone in the shade. After two 4k videos clips, maybe 30 sec each.

It's about 94 Degrees F in Miami Fl today and I record 4K for about 20-30 mins straight (5-6 Mins Clips) today No problems here. Maybe a rogue app in the background. Check your Memory Manager and restart your phone. If that doesn't work Wipe(reset) your U11.

Case or no case?
I was using the included case at the time, which can definitely hold in heat. I had also been watching a few YouTube videos first over mobile data.

My phone gets super hot too!
I just installed the CPUTemp app and will try to quantify it if it happens again.
I'm definitely noticing intermittent lag. Not sure if it's bloatware, thermal throttling, or both.
Sent from my 2PZC5 using Tapatalk
Did a quick test:
- No case
- Inside at 74*F
- Recording 4k video for 5 min
The CPU temp rose from an idle temp of 36*C pretty quickly, then settled at around 46*C.
Anyone know what the max temp is on these 835's?
Now just dubbing around in the Tapatalk app (on Wi-Fi), for 10min or so, it has yet to drop below 44*C
Sent from my 2PZC5 using Tapatalk
This seems a little odd. The CPU frequency flat line in this screen shot, is screen off. Why would it stay fixed around 1000MHz with screen off, then dip down as low as 300MHz while on?

It just happened to me today, but I must tell I was in the sun recording a video of my little girl in her swimming pool in the shade...
I didn't touch any video setting, so I don't know if it's in 4k by default...

This probably won't help but I did a quick test yesterday, room temperature was roughly 30°C, battery temperature was 35°C and I set it to record 4K video for about 15 mins (3 clips).
No overheating warnings and the peak temperature reached was 46°C.
You should try using power saver mode. I never turn mine off on my HTC phones. It makes a lot of difference.

Oh yeah. Unless u are keeping your phone in the sun or hackers are targeting it despite your data being off. Haha
Happened to me too. Phone was outside in the shade, about 80F. After 10 sec of videos, it stopped.
I was out in the garden and it was 29 degrees. The phone was recording at 1080p and shut down after 6 mins recording.
I tried recording indoors today and the temperature of the phone shot up to 49 degrees then shut the camera down. As a result of the heat being generated I lost at least 6% of battery life. This clearly isn't normal.
Anyone contact HTC yet?
I've got in touch with them and it's definitely not normal. They've asked me to send the device back and mark it as DOA.
Maybe anyone else having the same issue should contact HTC as well.
Wife's S8 does the exact same thing after a few minutes of videos and pictures.

Average day I get 24 hours before needing a charge, or extra one half a day, depending on the use.
I have :
WIFI off, I turn it on when I need that and I do that a lot.
GPS off.
Auto Brightness.
Sync on.
Playing Cut the rope for a while.
Taking some 2D/3D videos and pictures.
Yehaww
I get about 7-8 hours but I'm ALWAYS on my phone. Always.... normal for me
I would say I get what I need.
I have the phone from 6:40am till 10pm with 20%-10% battery left.
My use is:
WIFI all the time.
3G (data transfer) off all the time.
GPS off.
Default Brightness.
Sync on.
Playing Angry Bird, Slice Fruit and a bit of Golf 3D and listening music while going and coming back from work (2hrs journey return).
And obviously making/receiving some phone calls.
Now, lately, I've been playing a LOT of Golf 3D (got really addicted ) so from my house to my work I've lost 30%-40% battery.
When I go to my break I play another 30 minutes and the battery is already on its 40%-30%.
So basically I have to charge it at work.
During the night the phone is ALWAYS charging so I don't know how much the phone would drain.
Wifi on
Data off most of the time
Sync on
No 3d
Average time 10-14 hrs

GPS off
Wifi localization on

Phone is on v10D and rooted. Got a couple of background processes like WhatsApp and battery/time/weather widgets.
The first week it was pretty bad but now I'm quite content.
You have to take into consideration that the phone has a very large screen with dualcore processor. I think the largest capacity battery you can get for this phone without drastically enlarging the casing is about 1980mAh which will give you (just an estimation) about an hour more juice. If you want the phone to last two days on one charge with normal use it would've been twice as large and a lot heavier.
I don't understand how some can get such better battery life when they use the phone more than I do.
Is it the different launchers, what do people use.

What worrys me about that is that your Android System stat says that it is using 15% were as mine says it is using 53%. That just doesn't seem normal.

Here ya go, after over 14 hours. The top one is RF2011 3D which I played about 5 minutes. Besides RF2011 I played just over half an hour of Wordfeud. The rest of the time the phone was in standby and as you see it still has about 70% charge. My Android System only used 3% in these 14 hours as you can see in my screenshot.
Pretty much since the summer in my car where the first accident happened my phone tends to overheat a lot(when charging and sometimes when using gps).
Yesterday while charging it in my room and playing a game the widget showed the phone at 50 degrees Celsius.
When I saw it I immediately turned it off, and took the battery out so it will cool faster, the battery didn't feel so hot tho.
So what may be the issue? defected parts? or maybe it's just the sensor? Any way of finding out?

Hi, I had very similar issues...it would overheat even when NOT charging or using GPS. Of course, this only started happening once summer hit in NYC (around end of May).... I did a lot of research and this has helped me TREMENDOUSLY. YMMV, but it's something to look into.
First, I flashed a kernel hack from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437563
Then I installed GideonX's battery tweak script from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20946429&postcount=574
Not only has the temp become more stable, I get better battery life. Of course, you're effectively under-clocking the device, but I haven't experienced any performance degradation with any system intensive apps, like games, etc....
Let me know if this works out for you! AND READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU FLASH!
Thanks I'll check it out although im already uc+uv. today I reached a new record for 57 degree's Celsius.
Also you linked GB kernel I'm on ics but I'm using mohans kernel.
Even my phone geys heated up... I guess it's a problem with most android phones... But actually as such there is no solution out.. Nd i guess it isn't causing much of a problem also!

Forgot to write..... Dude 57 degrees is a hell lot.... I guess there is a serious problem with your hardware or maybe rom or possibly kernel... U must seriously try to identity the problem!

Not sure if this will be at all helpful either, since it takes about 7-10 days before it shows any results, but it's worth a shot. It's a crowd-sourcing app called Carat: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...iZXJrZWxleS5jcy5hbXBsYWIuY2FyYXQuYW5kcm9pZCJd
well the 57 degrees were achieved by leaving the phone in the car in the sun with the gps on while talking to a friend outside for 15-20 mins so it's a rare occasion but it gets to 50-52 when charging+dps mid day.
Installed carat and let's see what it says, thanks.
I think my main issue is the summer here, it never overheated in the winter.
If you're driving with the phone exposed to the sun, it's going to get hot. Even larger devices that can dissipate heat better such a tablets will over heat in the sun.
I recently started running 192min 1.08max which appears to have helped slightly. I mostly did this to see how it'd affect battery life though since I haven't noticed any performance changes.
Still, if you're charging, gps, and to top it off are in direct sunlight on a hot day, any device will get hot. I don't think there's anything you can potentially do to fully solve this other than clip it onto a car vent to run air over it while out of sun's view.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Actually I am positioning the air conditioner to blow on the phone but the car mount blocks most of it.
I guess the phone can take the heat no prob, I'll just have to get a new battery once the heat kills it because I heard that lithium batteries are sensitive to heat above 45-50 degrees Celsius.
It looks to me like its pretty good on battery. I only tested the usage time and not the standby time.
I had my phone on for 8 1/2 hours and my location was on the whole time with high accuracy enabled. I had Bluetooth on the whole time. Screen was set to auto.
Screen on time: 5:40
calls: 2:20
Waze: around an hour
and all the rest like emails, whatsapp, facebook, text, etc...
Did anyone see how the standby time affects the battery?

2hrs screen on time right now, lots of Android System use for some reason.
I've done Bluetooth streaming to my car stereo, listened to music, podcasts, and played a bunch of Angry Birds 2 today, as well as browsing the Web and Facebook. Pretty active day and the battery has held up fairly well. Hopefully it's comparable to my Xperia Z3.
This is more in line with what iI seeing. Last night I went threw and turned software my radio disabled all the unnecessary apps and force closed almost everything... Then unplugged it when it was full 2 hours later iI had lost 10 percent. The only radio that WA son was the wifi but I was connected to wifi.

Wow that's great, did you have wifi, gps, auto brightness?
I've notice that the battery would drain fast 100-89 in a 10-15 kin span then when plug in it would charge up to 100 and it would drain normally.
My first charge cycle...
Screen brightness at 90%.
50% data 50% WiFi.
Bluetooth music and S Gear.
Continuous testing, setting up and general messing around.
Acouple 5 min 4k videos.
Internet surfing.
I did have a 10%spike when I was transferring some files.! So I took this screen with 9% remaining.
Quite impressive to me considering I was getting about 9 hrs with 3hrs Screen time from Note 4 edge with the same battery.
This phone is a major upgrade to the note Edge!!!

Agreed...im getting more than double sot and stdby time then i do with my edge. N5
Is at least twice as fast and buttery as hell compared to the edge.
This phone feels beautiful in your hand. Still trying to get use to the battery and a little smaller screen had all the notes then went to the nexus 6 for a while. This one is by far the best build of any of them.
My battery life is horrible comparatively. What are you guys doing to get 5+ hours so? I haven't even hit 4 hours yet...
Post up your screen shots and show us how good or bad your battery life is. Tell us whether you have the snap dragon or exynos version, what carrier you're on, what tweaks you may have done, whether you have the S8 or S8+.
I have the Snap Dragon S8+ with T-Mobile.
I have auto brightness on, with optimized performance mode on. I have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS enabled, always on display is also on. I have not shut any apps off except lookout security. I have adguard also. If I can answer anymore questions, let me know.
Best battery life I've ever had on a phone.

I'll post mine at end of day. Going all in, running Twitter and also normal multitasking and playing music in the background.
Not real impressed with mine yet, I know it'll get better but I've only gotten 1hr screen on time so far.
Display set to 1080p, 50% brightness, smart mode, and very little use other then streaming music.
But my lg v20 lasted that long doing the same everyday. Not sure why android eats ups battery streaming music, my iPhone 7 plus can stream music for 8 hrs and still have between 85-90% battery. Hopefully android will make it better.
Like the phone so far though. It's a lot smoother than my s7 edge was.

Here's an update on mine after getting home and not steaming music. I'd say if you don't stream music they battery is awesome. I'm happy with battery. Just wish they would optimise music streaming with screen off like apple. But not complaining, I'm happy.

I have an S8. I'm quite impressed. WQHD+, 50% brightness
You guys are happy with your New toy thats why screen sips most of the Juice however whats interesting is testing idling on 4g/3g and see how much Android os is taking
Galaxy S8, 5hrs 36mins, blown away by it considering I was only getting 3.5hrs on the S7, disabled some bloatware through package disabler and on about 30% brightness
4 hours playing super Mario sunshine with a ps4 controller got me about 4 hours 60%
720p 50% brightness.
Figured the iPhone 7 is 720p why not save battery
Even in the simplest case, the XZ Premium temperature is 40 degrees (surf the internet, hang on instagram)
I think the problem is that since the 8 nuclei always run at the same time.(8 cores never stop working all the time)
Is there anything that can solve the problem?(I bought the device 3 days ago)
Same problem. Heat ? goes around 50 DC then betry draining very rapidly
First thing you always have to try is do a factory reset (also check in battery the app that have more running time and battery drain)

I tried 2 times
I tried to repair it with Xperia companion But the result is frustration.
I noticed that my phone always works with 4k. Even if I take a screenshot when watching 1080p video resolution 4k

In battery tab under settings you can chek the app/things that drain more battery (screen, istagram, facebook etc.)
For me the first 3 are : Screen, whatsapp and a game i play.
For you? Something unusual? (app that you don't use this much but show up in top places?)

screen-the phone is idle and Some applications affecting % 3 (whatsapp, instagram, asphalt game)

sorry.my English is bad.
I understand you told me to give the service, but I do not understand the last wrote.
(The sony service in the country I live in is very bad.
It takes 5 months to deliver a new device
In addition, do you use xz premium?
If you use
What is the temperature when watching 720p video for 10 minutes? (Cpu)
What is the temperature when you play a good game for 10 minutes? (asphalt series sample)

My XZ Premium is as cold as winter in Russia. My XZ Premium is so cold I don't think anyone can make it hot. My XZ Premium is so cold that I think your xz Premium is BROKEN and you need to return it to the shop where you bought it.
I watch 4K, record videos and edit them, tether WiFi to my laptop, use Google maps, and my XZ Premium never gets warm. It's cold.
