It looks to me like its pretty good on battery. I only tested the usage time and not the standby time.
I had my phone on for 8 1/2 hours and my location was on the whole time with high accuracy enabled. I had Bluetooth on the whole time. Screen was set to auto.
Screen on time: 5:40
calls: 2:20
Waze: around an hour
and all the rest like emails, whatsapp, facebook, text, etc...
Did anyone see how the standby time affects the battery?
Nice

Screen on time?
This was just before bedtime
Sent from my SM-N920T using XDA Premium HD app
2hrs screen on time right now, lots of Android System use for some reason.
I've done Bluetooth streaming to my car stereo, listened to music, podcasts, and played a bunch of Angry Birds 2 today, as well as browsing the Web and Facebook. Pretty active day and the battery has held up fairly well. Hopefully it's comparable to my Xperia Z3.
This is more in line with what iI seeing. Last night I went threw and turned software my radio disabled all the unnecessary apps and force closed almost everything... Then unplugged it when it was full 2 hours later iI had lost 10 percent. The only radio that WA son was the wifi but I was connected to wifi.
First full charge..
Not bad, but high Android System somehow

I'm not to happy with mine. It's almost like my edges battery life.
Mine was pretty trashy for 1st full day. Switched to airplane mode from about 4pm till 6pm because it was dropping like a rock... I'll have better screenshot for tomorrow. S6 was avg about 4hours screen time so we shall see how this pans out.. Shrug.. 3500 was all we needed

Wow that's great, did you have wifi, gps, auto brightness?
I've notice that the battery would drain fast 100-89 in a 10-15 kin span then when plug in it would charge up to 100 and it would drain normally.
My first charge cycle...
Screen brightness at 90%.
50% data 50% WiFi.
Bluetooth music and S Gear.
Continuous testing, setting up and general messing around.
Acouple 5 min 4k videos.
Internet surfing.
I did have a 10%spike when I was transferring some files.! So I took this screen with 9% remaining.
Quite impressive to me considering I was getting about 9 hrs with 3hrs Screen time from Note 4 edge with the same battery.
This phone is a major upgrade to the note Edge!!!
Some nice results... I've never been one to Greenify, or freeze many apps. If I decide to get the N5, I'll have to change some habits I suppose. Still on the damn fence about this phone. Maybe I'll go see it at best buy, see how it feels in hand.

Agreed...im getting more than double sot and stdby time then i do with my edge. N5
Is at least twice as fast and buttery as hell compared to the edge.
This phone feels beautiful in your hand. Still trying to get use to the battery and a little smaller screen had all the notes then went to the nexus 6 for a while. This one is by far the best build of any of them.
My battery life is horrible comparatively. What are you guys doing to get 5+ hours so? I haven't even hit 4 hours yet...

Post your real numbers of what you get chaps, it will be interesting to see what some get over others.
Over night Standby Loss=30%
Average day I get 12 hours before needing a charge.
I have

but nothing is set to sync I do it all manually.
with setcpu and juicedefender i lose about 5% over night

My first o3d was like that and the new one I lose 3-5% overnight with no TP app ( juice garbage etc )
Wifi on

Auto brightness
GPS 0ff
Edit: main bettery user seems to be 3d gameloft games, I can get 24hours with some 3d youtube a lof wifi browsing and a 3d picture now and then
I am using a custom rom and it has gamesloft removed and lots of other stuff.

Over night Standby Loss= 0%, some other nights I get about 4% loss, I don't know why!
Average day I get 24 hours before needing a charge, or extra one half a day, depending on the use.
I have :
WIFI off, I turn it on when I need that and I do that a lot.
GPS off.
Auto Brightness.
Sync on.
Playing Cut the rope for a while.
Taking some 2D/3D videos and pictures.
Yehaww
I get about 7-8 hours but I'm ALWAYS on my phone. Always.... normal for me
I would say I get what I need.
I have the phone from 6:40am till 10pm with 20%-10% battery left.
My use is:
WIFI all the time.
3G (data transfer) off all the time.
GPS off.
Default Brightness.
Sync on.
Playing Angry Bird, Slice Fruit and a bit of Golf 3D and listening music while going and coming back from work (2hrs journey return).
And obviously making/receiving some phone calls.
Now, lately, I've been playing a LOT of Golf 3D (got really addicted ) so from my house to my work I've lost 30%-40% battery.
When I go to my break I play another 30 minutes and the battery is already on its 40%-30%.
So basically I have to charge it at work.
During the night the phone is ALWAYS charging so I don't know how much the phone would drain.
Wifi on
Data off most of the time
Sync on
No 3d
Average time 10-14 hrs
Very dissapointed...i have to carry charger everywhere...LG software is battery unoptimized

Sync on
3G/HSDPA on
GPS off
Wifi localization on
Brightness 55%
Phone is on v10D and rooted. Got a couple of background processes like WhatsApp and battery/time/weather widgets.
The first week it was pretty bad but now I'm quite content.
You have to take into consideration that the phone has a very large screen with dualcore processor. I think the largest capacity battery you can get for this phone without drastically enlarging the casing is about 1980mAh which will give you (just an estimation) about an hour more juice. If you want the phone to last two days on one charge with normal use it would've been twice as large and a lot heavier.
I don't understand how some can get such better battery life when they use the phone more than I do.
Is it the different launchers, what do people use.

What worrys me about that is that your Android System stat says that it is using 15% were as mine says it is using 53%. That just doesn't seem normal.

Nice app man. Im gonna check that out. My experience of battery monitors has always been that they eat more battery than they help you conserve but that one looks interesting.
There are parts on that graph that say it is consuming absolutely no power at all. That seems off likes.

Here ya go, after over 14 hours. The top one is RF2011 3D which I played about 5 minutes. Besides RF2011 I played just over half an hour of Wordfeud. The rest of the time the phone was in standby and as you see it still has about 70% charge. My Android System only used 3% in these 14 hours as you can see in my screenshot.
So I've updated my phone to the latest trickdroid 6.2.0 for the TMOUS version, and using it for the psat 3 days, I've realized how bad the battery life is. I only turn on my data when I need it, maybe 20-30min max per day. I text occasionally, and by 6pm in the evening, it needs another charge from the morning. ATM it is 36%, with 11hours on battery, which is pretty bad, screen is at 51%, cell standby 23%. I mean I'm not even using the phone much. What can I do to fix this, I also have Juice Defender installed and it seems without it, my battery would be dead within 6 hours.
That's decent for this phone. Try CM10 and see if you make it to lunch.

I currenlty own a T Mobile USA branded One S (black in color) and one of the very first things I noticed was, the battery life was significantly less than my international One X. On average, I would have close to 15 hours with my One X (approx 4 hours of screen on time). My One S gets about half of that. I've been able to drain the battery (completely depleted from 100% down to 10%) in about 6 hours with the same exact usage pattern as my One X.
Weather, Twitter, FB updating every hour, email (2 accounts) every 15 mins, lot's of YouTube, Web browsing, texting quite frequently. I was actually surprised with my One S. On average, I get nearly 10 hours (give or take an hour) with approx 2 hours of screen on time.
Interesting to compare and see what other's are experiencing.
Best.
i have about 5 hrs of screen time and my phone running for almost 37 hrs. with 1 hr temple run, 2hrs music, 40-50 msgs and 30mins wifi ...!! seems pretty ok to me !
Wow! Very nice...
Custom rom or?
I have nice battery life on stock and all custom ROM. OP: have you researched what a wake lock is and how to interpret the battery info in settings? Do you have the S4 or S3 One S?
As to the difference compared to One X, the One S will fare much worse when displaying white and bright colors because of the AMOLED, but besides that in theory be a bit better all round.
Edit: I see you have the TMOUS so I assume S4. Also 21% seems high for cell standby, are you in a bad coverage location?

Welcome to Android!
You're on a larger screen with LTE. That will make your battery go through a lot faster. You'll have to change your charging habits and turn off LTE when you don't need it and turning down the brightness on your screen as the day goes on.
Should get up to 24 hours on stock depending on usage. Make sure you are closing apps with back button and not home or they remain running in background.
Also check how often your apps sync data, I make Facebook and Twitter sync every 4 hours. By default they are set to hourly.

Battery life should increase over a few days. Your ROM needs a few days to settle in before you get maximum battery life. Also make sure you do not have any rogue apps causing Wakelocks. Many things come into play when it comes to battery life.

Battery life sounds great. You might be using the phone more since it's new to you and you are playing with it a lot more than typical daily use. I think as you settle into it you will see it last the full day for you. Screen time seems good, and that's really the most accurate test of battery life. This thing will last for days if you don't use the screen at all, so battery time can be misleading.
Hey man can you post a screenshot of your battery life so we can see what is using up your battery?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
You have to cycle your battery a few times. My battery life was awful at first, now I can go 25-30ish hours between charges.
At the moment I'm at 22 hours, 38 minutes and still have 67% left.
This is what I do/did:
Turned off auto sync, if I want to sync email or anything, I do it myself. I turned off haptic feedback, don't like it. Also, when I'm at home, I turn off mobile data, and just use my wi-fi. A few times a day I hold down the power button, and remove all open tasks. On S-Voice, I turned off the 'wake up command' or whatever, that can use battery for no reason, if you want to use S-Voice, how hard is it to tap the button twice... I also turned on the 'power save' not sure what it does, but obviously can't hurt.
My phone is totally stock. Hated the battery life at first, but now, it's awesome.

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Google Pixel XL before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I decided to try and push things this morning and used my Pixel XL almost all morning non-stop. I used it to talk on Hangouts/Allo, check mail, facebook, feedly, Flipboard, google news, listen to music, etc. I had 3.7 hours of on screen time and the battery was down to 67%.So far it seems much better than my S7 was

How are people getting this? My screen seems to drain so fast even when I'm just constantly using it to see how much I can get. I barely get 40 minutes of SOT per 10% drain and that's if I'm using it straight through. Brightness kept low too. On wifi or LTE if doesn't matter.

Maybe you got a dud? With millions of these being mass produced there are bound to be bad ones. Maybe yours is that case. Would suck, but it sounds like SOMETHING is wrong. Have you checked your battery stats in Settings to see what's using all your juice?

"Combined APP CPU" takes up 60% in GSAM battery stats. No idea what that means
I finished my day yesterday (day 3 of owning) with 5.7 hrs screen on time and had 22% battery left when plugging in. I hadn't watched any videos but spent alot of time reading, browsing and chatting. I kept my brightness around 1/3 the way to full and never moved it. Adaptive brightness was left on but seems to change very minimally in different lighting conditions. My G3 used to drop to an unbearable dark when in lowlight situations. The Pixel XL 128gb has stayed more bright in lowlight situations than I'd like making it straining to my eyes. I tried nightmode but was a pukey looking orangish red. Not cool. Either way, it seems screen time is best I've had in recent phones. I averaged around 3.7 to 4.2 hrs on my Note 7 but only owned that for 3 weeks and had returned due to it being an incendiary device! KABOOM! So far I'm Pleased with the Pixel XL aside from the lack of lift to wake or double tap to wake. I hate hitting the power button to check notifications.
40 mins screen on for 10% drain ends up being about 6.5 hours of screen on time....don't understand your problem.?

I'll say your SOT are good, seeing that most of the time you had bad cell signal.
When posting your screen on time could you possibly include your how bright you keep the brightness and if you use adaptive brightness or not. That would help comparisons.

How are people getting this? My screen seems to drain so fast even when I'm just constantly using it to see how much I can get. I barely get 40 minutes of SOT per 10% drain and that's if I'm using it straight through. Brightness kept low too. On wifi or LTE if doesn't matter.

Damn id get a replacement. Im a heavy user and i litteraly charge this once a day and thats in the afternoon. Im on fb google plus. Youtube and i listen to music via bluetooth
I just got through my first full charge and ended up with over 7.5 hours SoT over about 32 hours of use. I didn't get a screenshot because I was trying to push for that 8 hour mark and the phone died...But I'm going to get it next time.
Best battery life I've ever experienced on a phone! Took of our charger this morning at 100% charge and it is 3:13 AM the following morning. Been doing the usual. Taptalking to check for Pixel Root method/. TWRP, YouTube, few photos, downloading apps, texting, few calls, and whatnot.
Still says I have 5 hours left on my battery give our take.

Almost 5 hours screen on time and I was using Waze and listening to Alex Jones pretty much the whole time the screen was on. This is the best better life I have gotten ever.

With such bad cell reception for a large part of the time and Chrome(a known battery hog) pretty high on the list as well as a small battery that's pretty good.
And I couldn't help but mention it but.... seriously? Alex Jones? That dude is crazy! Does the Pixel XL come with a free tinfoil hat and straight jacket? LOL Alex Jones HAHAHAHA

Over 9 hours! What kind of voodoo magic do you have on your phone!? Is that plain ol' vanilla android? Any kernel?

That's the only possible reason for that SOT... youtube 25%... lol... no way in other "normal" conditions you would get over 5/6h SOT

I'm a heavy user anyway and I've never had a phone except the iPhone have more screen on time. I don't think it matters how it happens.

Post up your screen shots and show us how good or bad your battery life is. Tell us whether you have the snap dragon or exynos version, what carrier you're on, what tweaks you may have done, whether you have the S8 or S8+.
I have the Snap Dragon S8+ with T-Mobile.
I have auto brightness on, with optimized performance mode on. I have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS enabled, always on display is also on. I have not shut any apps off except lookout security. I have adguard also. If I can answer anymore questions, let me know.
Best battery life I've ever had on a phone.

Will be nice if people post their settings too especially those with crazy good bat life
I'll post mine at end of day. Going all in, running Twitter and also normal multitasking and playing music in the background.
Not real impressed with mine yet, I know it'll get better but I've only gotten 1hr screen on time so far.
Display set to 1080p, 50% brightness, smart mode, and very little use other then streaming music.
But my lg v20 lasted that long doing the same everyday. Not sure why android eats ups battery streaming music, my iPhone 7 plus can stream music for 8 hrs and still have between 85-90% battery. Hopefully android will make it better.
Like the phone so far though. It's a lot smoother than my s7 edge was.

Holy cow. Is that the Plus or regular? Though guessing it doesn't matter much since they should be pretty close.

Cool. I'm getting the regular. Should be somewhat close to that I'm thinking. Whats exciting is that your battery life is out of the box. The software must be much more optimized and the processor efficient.

And this is with all kinds of wonkiness going on
Playing music almost constantly since 830, maps, bluetooth, and browsing. 60% brightneess and WQHD+
Here are mine. Still about 24% left. About 30mns call, 2hrs google play music and some facebook, youtube etc
Here's an update on mine after getting home and not steaming music. I'd say if you don't stream music they battery is awesome. I'm happy with battery. Just wish they would optimise music streaming with screen off like apple. But not complaining, I'm happy.

Here is mine full screen quality and brightness around 80%
AOD, fhd+, Bluetooth to watch, and the blip is to get 5% to get tmobile update. Third day with phone.

I have an S8. I'm quite impressed. WQHD+, 50% brightness
You guys are happy with your New toy thats why screen sips most of the Juice however whats interesting is testing idling on 4g/3g and see how much Android os is taking
Galaxy S8, 5hrs 36mins, blown away by it considering I was only getting 3.5hrs on the S7, disabled some bloatware through package disabler and on about 30% brightness
4 hours playing super Mario sunshine with a ps4 controller got me about 4 hours 60%
720p 50% brightness.
Figured the iPhone 7 is 720p why not save battery
